Seeing how inputs in fighting games are getting more simplified year by year, I feel like they are gonna introduce some sort of "easy/journalist mode". Something like: just mash one button and just watch the game play automatically by itself.

I like the Ratatan a lot. The Cobun are cute but I agree they aren't as strong a design as the Patapon. But some concept art suggests their appearance will change as they get stronger, so they have room to grow on me.
A Dutch author with a lot of money to burn and a love for Patapon threw $300k at the project via multiple accounts, and Kickstarter thought this was suspicious and cancelled the donations. They're negotiating to push them through. But this is assuming the donations were legit in the first place.

Guys question, I have been wanting to emulated patapon 3 after hearing of the ratatan news awhile back, I heard its pretty plug and play to just download both the ppsspp emulator and patapon 3 but do need to anything extra with the mod like dxd?
Like the other anon said, fiddle with the input lag settings. Other than that, patapon 3 is a great game. Just don't go in expecting patapon 2.5, it's a different experience entirely. That being said, if you haven't played 2, you should play it first.

IIRC it was due to the hardware limitations of the PSP. They wanted to do flashier units, larger bosses and enviromental hazards but those proved to be way too harsh on memory so they removed the armies and left one unit/class.
It's an alright game but an extremely shit sequel after the last 2.
The story barely makes sense, most classes are boring or extremely situational and unneccessary because Tondenga exists, the bosses have that moronic berserker state that you can't counter properly since you won't have time to do a defensive/evasive rhytm. Oh, you got an ending where you unlock dark heroes and can't wait to play as Gong, Sonarchy or Ragewolf? Well tough luck, fricker, that shit is multiplayer only, get the multiplayer loicense to use the content you have unlocked unless you can find people to play with in WLAN. The multiplayer corruption is a disgusting oversight too, locking you out of better gear if some homosexual named Gzpy comes into your lobby and forever ensuring you will never get any green items. It's a mess.
The multipayer was fun though despite the ASShomosexualS focus. Playing coop through the dungeons in local was extremely fun, and the soundtrack is awesome.
It is a turd, but it's a turd with lots of cool sides.

Just booted up my psvita to play some patapon 3 missons, and I gotta say I do not remember the game being this cancer. Every 2 seconds my guys get staggered, knocked back or set on fire, especially being set on fire, I have to spam pata pon don chaka every other beat (Yes I did take fire resist gear). Treants that regenerate 10% health/second (dps check) and timed segments (dps check) forcing me to grind even though im at the reccomended level.
Think I'll try patapon 2 tomorrow
Not that bad since all the good tank gear goes to Ton and all the DPS/CC gear goes to my hero. Once I get Alosson's Tailwind I just go back to using Wondabarappa or Jamsch and spam projectiles.

depends entirely on your hero. potentially, he can steamroll through the entire game alone.
difficulty doesn't change stats or anything, just how easy it is to score the beat

i put the game on easy or its actually impossible to activate hero mode.
just try the patagate mask thing for instance, its hardcapped at normal mode and its not possible to get hero mode in there
Nah it's just insanely easy to get a proper beat in 3. It's baby mode compared to 1 and 2, though you could use the excuse that directing 4 units instead of an entire army is easier.
It's a little bit easier compared to 1 but still annoying at times especially when you're trying to fight him but accidentally drop the beat. You can change the setting to easy though to make it similar to 3 where the beat is easier to keep otherwise just have to get used to it

Every time I watched youtube videos everyone was using the megapon hero, i always felt like I was excluded of the cool kids club because I never gave him a chance. Also, just like you I never replaced tatepons, I made some runs without them and my army felt... boneless
my Yaripon hero with Zubizubabaya or Shubabassa masks gets stupid dps to the point that he misses jumps for attacks, boosted by fish rarepon for crit damage
for troops, tatepons are the only defense needed, Mahopons and kibapons
Toripons are situational or require high investment to work, and even so they get outclassed by others
Yaripons on the other hand are extremely reliable as they are a starting class that can adapt to any situation

Mogyugyu, Gachigochitbh and Golem Arm give you gigantic attack. Divine Fist Kami gives +100% crits, stagger and knockback.
Normally, a build like this would be unplayable, because the combination of a Mogyugyu rarepon with the Golem Arm would have extremely slow attack speed. However, this is nullified by the Robopon Hero skill, which is a continuous flurry of punches at a fixed speed which is not affected by your attack speed stat.
With a build like this, as long as you keep your Hero skill active with a perfect beat, you can just bullldoze anything that gets in your path.

tbh idk how to feel about the characters using musical instruments instead of actual weapons. Ratatan so far seems much more childish and lighthearted compared to Patapon where you killed giant monsters and other tribes with spears and swords and arrows. Ratatan seems like you'll just play music at them while a kindergarten marching band sings in the background.
The Cobun are using real weapons in the trailer, you can see them throwing spears and wielding swords and bows. The Ratatan seem more like supporting leaders, who can fight but mostly focus on using skills and powers instead of attacking personally.
Cobun (The little patapon-looking shits) have actual weapons in the trailer.
I think the Ratatans are just acting as the tard wranglers, playing the battle march and keeping Cobun organized. And while it's instrumentals and shit, Mimi (the owl) is described as a sniper who shoots people with his flute from the back and the frog calls a literal airstrike there.
not to mention, orders come from the ratatan much like drum commands come from the uberhero in 3
its just mixing both 2 and 3 in a single game but you take the role of Hatapon with a few extra perks

I've never played these games, but these ratatan characters just don't look as charming to me as Patapons do
I like the Ratatan a lot. The Cobun are cute but I agree they aren't as strong a design as the Patapon. But some concept art suggests their appearance will change as they get stronger, so they have room to grow on me.

A Dutch author with a lot of money to burn and a love for Patapon threw $300k at the project via multiple accounts, and Kickstarter thought this was suspicious and cancelled the donations. They're negotiating to push them through. But this is assuming the donations were legit in the first place.

Guys question, I have been wanting to emulated patapon 3 after hearing of the ratatan news awhile back, I heard its pretty plug and play to just download both the ppsspp emulator and patapon 3 but do need to anything extra with the mod like dxd?

Like the other anon said, fiddle with the input lag settings. Other than that, patapon 3 is a great game. Just don't go in expecting patapon 2.5, it's a different experience entirely. That being said, if you haven't played 2, you should play it first.

IIRC it was due to the hardware limitations of the PSP. They wanted to do flashier units, larger bosses and enviromental hazards but those proved to be way too harsh on memory so they removed the armies and left one unit/class.
Which is something we can see has been fixed in the ratatan trailer. Can see an army of flashy units vs giant boss.
It's an alright game but an extremely shit sequel after the last 2.
The story barely makes sense, most classes are boring or extremely situational and unneccessary because Tondenga exists, the bosses have that moronic berserker state that you can't counter properly since you won't have time to do a defensive/evasive rhytm. Oh, you got an ending where you unlock dark heroes and can't wait to play as Gong, Sonarchy or Ragewolf? Well tough luck, fricker, that shit is multiplayer only, get the multiplayer loicense to use the content you have unlocked unless you can find people to play with in WLAN. The multiplayer corruption is a disgusting oversight too, locking you out of better gear if some homosexual named Gzpy comes into your lobby and forever ensuring you will never get any green items. It's a mess.
The multipayer was fun though despite the ASShomosexualS focus. Playing coop through the dungeons in local was extremely fun, and the soundtrack is awesome.
It is a turd, but it's a turd with lots of cool sides.

Just booted up my psvita to play some patapon 3 missons, and I gotta say I do not remember the game being this cancer. Every 2 seconds my guys get staggered, knocked back or set on fire, especially being set on fire, I have to spam pata pon don chaka every other beat (Yes I did take fire resist gear). Treants that regenerate 10% health/second (dps check) and timed segments (dps check) forcing me to grind even though im at the reccomended level.
Think I'll try patapon 2 tomorrow

Yes, Patapon 3 is legitimately a stat check game and recommended levels only takes a full squad of 4 with a balanced composition in mind.

Nah it's just insanely easy to get a proper beat in 3. It's baby mode compared to 1 and 2, though you could use the excuse that directing 4 units instead of an entire army is easier.

It's a little bit easier compared to 1 but still annoying at times especially when you're trying to fight him but accidentally drop the beat. You can change the setting to easy though to make it similar to 3 where the beat is easier to keep otherwise just have to get used to it
I don't think it's only ppsspp, a couple months ago I started a new save on vita and it was the same, I just kept losing combos for seemingly no reason so I dusted off my psp which is a patapon machine now basically, not sure how the ps4 ports are.

Every time I watched youtube videos everyone was using the megapon hero, i always felt like I was excluded of the cool kids club because I never gave him a chance. Also, just like you I never replaced tatepons, I made some runs without them and my army felt... boneless
my Yaripon hero with Zubizubabaya or Shubabassa masks gets stupid dps to the point that he misses jumps for attacks, boosted by fish rarepon for crit damage
for troops, tatepons are the only defense needed, Mahopons and kibapons

Mogyugyu, Gachigochitbh and Golem Arm give you gigantic attack. Divine Fist Kami gives +100% crits, stagger and knockback.
Normally, a build like this would be unplayable, because the combination of a Mogyugyu rarepon with the Golem Arm would have extremely slow attack speed. However, this is nullified by the Robopon Hero skill, which is a continuous flurry of punches at a fixed speed which is not affected by your attack speed stat.
With a build like this, as long as you keep your Hero skill active with a perfect beat, you can just bullldoze anything that gets in your path.

Anyone here with knowledge of Patapon 3 DxD know if it's good for a first playthrough? I don't want any gameplay changes but I've heard it's required for PPSSPP multiplayer.
Play through it first vanilla so you can appreciate DxD more and avoid thinking even less of Patapon 3.

So what is the deal with Ratatan? It looks like they're combining the army aspect from 1 and 2 along with the hero system from 3. Do you still control the army with drum beats in 4/4?
From the gameplay trailer, the Ratatan are issuing commands that are 7 or 8 beats long, so it looks like it might be a little more complex than the standard 4/4.
Judging by the posted ost and the beats, i bet on 8 beat commands with same amount of drums, all still in 4/4 because the soundtrack sounds very close to original patapon in rhythm

The Cobun are using real weapons in the trailer, you can see them throwing spears and wielding swords and bows. The Ratatan seem more like supporting leaders, who can fight but mostly focus on using skills and powers instead of attacking personally.

I think the Ratatans are just acting as the tard wranglers, playing the battle march and keeping Cobun organized. And while it's instrumentals and shit, Mimi (the owl) is described as a sniper who shoots people with his flute from the back and the frog calls a literal airstrike there.

I think the footage they've shown off is supposed to be multiplayer footage, so with four Rattatans running around issuing commands it'll look messy as a whole. I think you're supposed to just follow your own Rattatan and Cobun and not focus on the others.
