is there a mod to make days longer or energy not drain as fast? i feel like i only get to do 5 minutes of shit and then straight back to bed
rather just farm in minecraft
cjb cheat menu lets you pause time, take no damage, and never drain energy, along with a bunch of other things, but theres no granularity, like just making the days longer or combat easier.
theres a mod called longer days that lets you choose how fast time is, and speeds time up by sitting on furniture, but no combat changes.
>make days longer
https://www.nexusmods.com/stardewvalley/mods/169 looking at the comments it seems like it became a bit buggy since the last update, but it's still being maintained so maybe give it a few days or something >energy not drain as fast
get stardrops and food
Grow it, forage it, catch it, go in to your farm cave and get enough mushrooms for 150+ energy etc etc
Energy is only a problem in your first spring, beyond that you're doing something wrong
>Energy is only a problem in your first spring
energy is only a problem for the first half of your first spring
get lvl 4 foraging by the 15ths (easy to do by just chopping trees, going to the beach etc) and you get 2 salmonberries from every bush
by the time salmonberry season is over you should have around 200 berries which is more than youll ever need to frickin eat no matter how hard you grind the mines/skull cavern, itll last you until blackberry season in fall, by which time you should have foraging lvl 8 and will get 3 berries from every bush, or if you have foraging level 10 you can eat the autumn bounty reward you get from the exotic forage bundle and boost it to 12 and get 4 berries from every bush, and youll literally never need to worry about energy again because youll have fricking 500 iridum blackberries that give you 65 energy each
There's no need to go full autist about it
You're only putting them off

this isnt even being autistic
its just somethingt hat should naturally happen as you play the game

part of it yea i do gather a lot of salmonberries year 1, i aim for around 100 across parts of each day which is usually plenty enough to bridge the gap. however the rest is definitely autistic nonsense that requires a lot of not completely obvious game knowledge and honestly isn't even a great strategy anyways
food should be a solved problem by the time blackberries are spawning unless you're doing something wrong in multiple aspects of the game. and by the time you've progressed that far your time is much more usefully spent doing almost anything else. similarly once you get to the point of having all your shit in order there is no point in gathering these low value berries. the only real exceptions are bad luck days where you want to give a bunch of gifts, complete quests, upgrade gear etc but otherwise its almost always a waste of time past fall year 1

>the rest is definitely autistic nonsense
naturally leveling up a stat that you use frequently in game and then harvesting blackberries when the t.v literally tells you "its blackberry season fricker get out there and pick them" is 'autistic nonsense'?
The game's time/energy balance and progression are actually incredibly well balanced. You have just enough energy to accomplish stuff and still have the feeling of "I just wish I could do that little bit more" which drives you to keep going on the next day. Then as you level up and develop your farm, you have more resources in terms of both total energy and food to restore energy and are able to do things more efficiently. Then just when you think you're on top of that, you get the skull cavern and ginger island.
If you just cheat yourself unlimited time/energy you're removing the actual fun snowball progression game part and basically just giving yourself chores. Thr only real excuse for time extension is decorating.
The only mod that I wouldn't consider cheating is a sprint mod that ups your speed at the cost of energy. No idea why that isn't already in the base game tbh.
i dropped the game around year ~2 where doing all the house chores took 3/4 of a day, this game, crops were no problem as they watered themselves, it was the fricking animal barns that took so long to loot and take care of
Plant them in your greenhouse or in the shed and grow them year-round.
What's his endgame?
He's playing SW instead of working on a farm. Just like how I love playing and I hate gardening.
Is it weird that I use the greenhouse, but not the island? Game gets too easy when you access that.
I've never even made it to the island.
I havent played SV literally since launch
What should i be aware of if i go back in today
We have mods like Stardew Valley Expanded and Ridgeside Village. They make the flagship of the game now. Eric Barone's only job right now is catering to modders.

Listen to this guy. Salmonberrymaxx the entire year. I've got dozens of those in my pocket anywhere I go.

I wonder how many players actually cook? When I played the game for the first time, I sold every fruit and vegetable I had. Cooking and eating seemed like something reserved for the mines.
>I wonder how many players actually cook? When I played the game for the first time, I sold every fruit and vegetable I had. Cooking and eating seemed like something reserved for the mines.
The only time I really use the more expensive recipes are when I'm going to the skull cavern or the volcano. But if you're gonna go autist mode and even kinda try hard but settle on wasting the time on berry min max gathering post spring year 1 when you could easily already be making 10+ low effort sashimi from crab pots on your farm every day 40+ days before black berries even spawn... They're more energy and even if you don't eat them they sell for a profit from crab pot fish.
The berry bonuses just happens too late to be useful enough to dedicate time to. I'll smack a blackberry bush if I'm already running past it but anything beyond foraging 4 before spring 15 is excessive berry strats imho either cook or just eat blueberries or mushrooms or whatever. The time is more valuable at that point
Never tried ridgeside but sve is... okay. It adds a lot of extra map and things to do along with several new characters. If you've played through vanilla and want to try something different I say go for it. It's been a long time since I played sve so I might get some of this wrong
I liked the map additions. The connection between the beach and western part of the map was convenient. There are large additions to both the west and east that's nice for foraging also an additional large property that can be used like a shed after some quests with Robin
I didn't like the added fish. Fishing was already really strong early game I don't want even more lucrative cartoonish fish like "puppyfish" or "butterfish"
Some other stuff i don't remember well with the adventurers guild and junimos that i can see some people hating and some loving and many completely ignoring. Overall the content adds variety and even if some parts are very strong like the extra house or expensive fish it's all mostly optional
The part a lot of Ganker hates are the characters. I think it's overblown. Most of them are just boring and effortless to ignore. But I do hate the 10x mental illness cosplaying pink haired neurotic lesbian that owns a lucrative vineyard and always has this fricking look on her face. She's so out of place in this game it's like every discord mod in programming socks combined their idealized self images into one miserable abomination.
Anyways yeah give it a go if you want more content
It doesn't really change the core game much at all but adds extra shit alongside it. That was what made it ok to me, the fact you don't have to interact with most of it if you don't want to. A lot of the stuff added is mediocre to bad, but a lot is added in general and there will surely be something you like that might make the game feel fresh again. That's why one of my biggest gripes with sve is the fishing changes. If I'm just trying to catch an eel for the community center I don't need the already limited window diluted with memefish, I don't want my early game inventory filling up with all the extra fish types, I don't like the cartoonish out of place aspect of the fish, and there's no way to avoid it like other additions one might not enjoy.
It's for bloatmaxxers
Don't bother unless you absolutely have to have more content no matter what, even if that content means giant empty maps that are a pain to traverse, some really annoying fanfiction, and a smattering of pozz.
Bachelors and bachelorettes are bisexual. Lenny is an old lesbian. There's Asians, Polynesians and mulattoes. There's strong woman adventuring types, and they worship a goddess. However, there's a lot of gender neutral pronouns being used even by old people.
SVE Sophia was written by a man, but so was Deedlit from Lodoss. Who cares?
You have to keep in mind that average Gankertard recolors Demetrius, so everything seems pozzed to them.
Ridgeside Village is a village right next to Pelican Town. Its mayor is Lewis' sister. It features a storyline directed towards your grandma, who used to be an adventurer before retiring with your grandpa. There's an elven ninja cult which gives you combat/scavenger hunt quests. There's a giant, dangerous forest, and even some dungeons. There's tons of Ridgeside exclusive fish and forage elements to gather. Most characters are fully fleshed out. We have some Hawaiian, Japanese, Italian and Slavic families, very few blacks. The characters have seasonal outfits, festivals, and countless events. The only downside is that the village is pretty far away, but you can fix the minecart leading to its most prominent locations. This can be very overwhelming to 1st or even 2nd time players. I suggest playing vanilla first, SVE second and SVE + Ridgeside Village on your third playthrough at the earliest.

Ive never tried SVE, but have tried Ridgeside, so I'll give my two cents and add to this anon
Ridgeside overall is a completely medicore to bad addition. I'll start with the good >new trees are pretty cool. always welcome >some new cute girls added, however they're not too impressive when they have to compete with all stars like Haley, Emily, Penny, Abby, etc >one system which I'll write a separate post for, so it doesn't bog down this one by going off topic >new festivals are generally nice and welcome additions >the areas is okay, i guess to explore, but not great
That's pretty much all the good stuff out of the way, but the bad vastly outweighs it >mod is very separated from the base game. Beyond some character from the mod going to pelican town, there is almost no lines from vanilla npcs that even acknowledge ridgeside. Those that do are restricted to festivals >haunted foresr area or whatever sucks >"storyline" is fricking garbage with some bullshit about your grandma being this girlboss ninja warrior who saved the world with her lesbian freinds >characters are actual caricatures of people. They will often use real life non english languages in dialog (despite the game not being earth). So you have people greeting you with "hola" or some nip kid saying "oniichan". It's fricking cringe and ruins all immersion >they also made sure to go down the checklist and include wow diverse such inclusive >italian and bl*ck mixed race couple, pacific islander, spics, chinks, double Black folk and a literal zestyhomie that is incapable of not hitting on you even though youre not fricking gay, and- to top it all off- a literal troon that directly tries to convince Vincent that he's le trans in a cutscene (which your character is forced to smile at, btw)
(1/2)
>speaking of cutscenes, man do these things have nowhere to fricking be. When you start a ridgeside cutscene, get ready to smoke a pack of cigs, cause that's how long it's gonna take. When the base game shows you a cutscene, it's usually not longer than a couple of minutes and often includes dialog you can choose. In rsv? You're not gonna be playing the game for ATLEAST 5m when you start one. You're in full telenovella mode. These fricking modwriters are so confident in their talent (unjustly) that they completely forget to value the player's time
I'm done talking about this mod because I'm getting upset at how fricking incompetent the devs are
Thanks for reading my blog

East Scarp, now that's an abomination. None of its characters do anything. Most of them are old, black or both.

I'm currently running it. I regret it, but I've invested the entire spring in the save already. ES has no direction. Characters are bland and additional characters feel out of place. It makes SVE and RV seem like they are vanilla in terms of narrative incorporation.
It could really use more dialog choices, they rely a lot on the farmer making emotes and their characters repeating what you said.
You can call Evelyn's cookies hockey pucks but if Kelia asks how his cooking is it's the best thing you ever tasted no questions asked.
Jeric's 8 heart event is the worst where the farmer goes on a fully spoken eulogy on how cool Jeric is and how impressed they are with his work.
I haven't played this game since release and never got far. Just started a new beach farm, what is a fun simple plan I can follow? I feel totally lost and don't want to spend that much time looking stuff up
plant crops, and fish. when the community center opens up, go look at what you need to collect, and decide that that shit's too much effort, and go joja route instead.
reminder that in america its illegal to build a shop without building a ton of parking spaces in front of it
there are 3 parking spaces for every car in america
>Grandpa on his deathbed >"Grandson, when you get tired of the city life, open this envelope and enjoy a comfy farming life." >Boy frick that, this is some prime real estate, I bet I could flip this and sell it to Joja from several mil.
This makes sense in a fantasy world. A grandfather cannot leave his land to a single grandkid. His children would sue the MC's ass and in the best case scenario he'd get the farm, but he'd have to pay off his relatives or it's game over.
>your grandma being this girlboss ninja warrior who saved the world with her lesbian freinds
u wot
You get your green thumb from your grandfather and your fighting talent from your grandma. It makes perfect sense.

Dialog choices alway boil down to Fallout 4's Yes, Yes, Yes (sarcastic) and Maybe later.
If the grandpa was sound of mind he can give his stuff to whomever he chooses, but yes. In the real world the tax man come knocking if you're not a direct relative with different tax percentages for degrees removed
Yeah, you're probably right. It can still mirror the manga either way. With her being a bit distrusting of the farmer, eventually growing attached to the farmer and the others, so she decides to stay much longer.
There can be a lot of lines in comparing the townsfolk with her friends. Penny could remind her of Kobayashi, etc.
I can definitely do a lot for the day to day lines. Events will be harder, but i'll try. If we had an artgay, I'd suggest a single cg event where she shows you her dragon form too. But that might be too ambitious.
I'll need to do a full playthrough of the game to see what kinds of things she would say during events and such. Write a few lines here and there. Don't think I'll do anything romantic. I fricking suck at romance. So if anon wanted that and marriage dialogue, he'll have to give it a shot himself.
>single cg event where she shows you her dragon form too
How exactly? That might be easier to do that write lines imo. Also for romance, you can take reference from other mods, the vanilla characters or anything very simple. Upto you of course.
I'm definitely overthinking a lot of it. Doesn't have to be a best selling masterpiece, right?
As for the CG, I might honestly do some rough drafts myself and perhaps commissioning someone decent at pixel or god forbid finally get my ass into art again. If it's supposedly easier to implement, I may consider more.
Here's an idea for the CG where you meet her. It doesn't have to be an artistic masterpiece or anything, I'd recommend looking at the Beebz mod for inspiration on that end because it sure is full of soul.
corporation by design only exists to serve a very narrow, myopic purpose at the expense everything around it. Being in that environment you are then also expected to wholly change your nature to fit its purpose down to the most base and narrow of function. You are not a man anymore, you are only a tool and this is by design.
nature has no defined purpose or rigid goal and so exists in harmony with man where existence is now only defined by oneself.
Is there a mod that makes coffee work properly
I don't know what ape was thinking making coffee beans a rare drop only and then it works like a regular crop for some reason not an orchard tree
>sam starts wearing a beanie >women now lust after him, but only while he's wearing the beanie
Damn it's hobo Phoenix all over again. Spiky anime hair is really a debuff
>wake up >call gus to see what food he's selling >watch tv to check my daily luck >watch forecast to check if it rains tomorrow >check calendar for birthdays and events >kiss my wife >drink coffee >refill machines >harvest crops >pet every animal >visit krobus for his daily stock >check job board >give a birthday gift
I can finally start my day and grind skull cave/chop every tree/fish/jobs it's so tiresome
Anyone remember if you can upgrade existing barns or coops? I have one of each and thinking of putting down a second, but wondering if I can just upgrade one of the existing ones for my rancher playthrough
>Who the frick actually sells gems for profit?
me
i still get +1 ore path, then when my crystalarium farm has enough gems loaded up, i swap skills in the sewer and sell
im so tired of seeing gays talk about how useless prospector is. yeah, maybe late game when you can swim through your money like scrooge mcduck. coal is one of the rarer resources thats used constantly and itll be at a couple years before you can subsist on just farming trees to throw in the kiln or outright buying it. geo/gem is only worth going early if you already have 2-3 crystalariums pumping out diamonds.
Monster Compendium helps out with coal too. Getting a slight boost on coal from Dust Sprites makes a huge difference on total coal supply, way before either the Bandit Ring or the Quarry are unlocked.
i set the profit margin to 25% and have just been playing lazily not stressing about optimization or anything
its so much more fun this way, you guys gotta try it
1. Fricking get rid of the Stamina meter and let me just work on my fricking farm

of course I am, I have 300 jellies ready to sell but I have 3 days until next harvest when I unlock artisan so ive been living off a few hundred bucks a day until then
go to crops for first year?
I'm almost done with spring and it's sad how the crops we get from Pierre are so cheap to sell while the only crop called strawberry is only available during egg festivals. hopefully by next year his shop will sell strawberry too?
>go to crops for first year?
You can never go wrong with the berries and "big" crops. Go big on those, but don't forget to get what you need for the Community Center bundles too.
If you have enough money and space to plant them, it doesn't hurt to get at least one of everything just in case someone requests it on the Help Wanted board during that season.
I hate how the game lets you choose between "Tiller" and "Rancher" implying a split path between crops and animals, yet the Tiller path inevitably gives you a perk that makes your animals more profitable than they would be on the Rancher path.
The e-girl bachelorette mods might still work but they'll have the girls age up during winter, I'd like to update the mods eventually to simply remove the new sprites and portraits and keep the e-girl ones in.
Is it weird that I use the greenhouse, but not the island? Game gets too easy when you access that.
Personally, I plant an equal amount of every regrowable on the island and only check in once a week
If I remember my set up, a full harvest of 16x each crop planted, once a week is about 25k. It's honestly not that much in the endgame, but once it's set up it takes no work to to upkeep and you can use the main farm for only growing nonregrowables
Here's what my island looked like
All of these had highest level fertilizer, too, so I was getting iridium crops
Unironically how do I have fun in this game? I have around 100 hours in it. The first time was sorta fun, but gradually I came to realize it was just a really shallow chore simulator collectathon, and I can't play more than a single day without feeling extremely demotivated to continue.
dont try to do everything. set 1 or 2 personal goals to focus on and disregard everything else. when youre satisfied with those, set another. there is no rush to get perfection, and even the year 3 evaluation can be retried for no penalty however many times you want. just do what you want and take as much time as you want.
how do I have fun in this game? I have around 100 hours in it
You must have had some fun to put 100 hours into it. If not, you seem to be a crazy person.
It's part of the experience. Real life farming is even worse. My cousin is keeping livestock and she and her partner have to care for it from 5 in the morning till late at night when she comes back from work. No kidding.
FRICK, I can already see how the event goes. You damn genius. If people can stomach not having great art for cgs I guess I can do it myself, save myself the trouble of requesting commissions or going into an Ganker drawthread. gonna take some time to get the rust off, haven't done anything in 4 years
Here's an idea for the CG where you meet her. It doesn't have to be an artistic masterpiece or anything, I'd recommend looking at the Beebz mod for inspiration on that end because it sure is full of soul.
That's an abyssal ship from Kancolle, one of the last things I ever did, digitally, and something i need to strive for again when possibly creating CGs for the Kanna mod. i made her hair too pink since at the time i figured i wanted to make it pop out more in contrast to her skin
It's been a good summer bros >married Haley and Emily (in a couple days, but in my headcanon it was a double wedding on the night of the moonlight jellies) >good crop set up going into fall. Have enough quality spronks to fill the whole rest of the place >full barn and coop. Final upgrades should go quick as a brick >on track to get bluechimkens soon >got a 3k apple tree from based smuggler >experienced the KINO that is green rain >going into fall with 30k >on track to finish the community center before the end of y1 (although I usually wait until the last day so that the cutscene happens in the spring. Just fits that way imo)
The only problem with this run was that the mines were particularly unfrenly to me. Still, I've got enough spronks and a good amount of tool upgrades so I cant complain. Also I was worried the marrige mod was goofing because for some reason I didn't get Emily's 10h event. But I ended up running through some days and it seems like it's working fine (beyond a couple bugs like them not sleeping in the bed, but w/e. Wip please understand)
I ended up just console comanding the event to happen
Gonna write out a longpost soon once I'm done playing about how the game goes in my Haley+Emily doublemarriage headcanon
There was one anon that wanted a romance mod for them. Im not going to make it, but I'm a writegay so I'll give my two cents on how to easily merge the current ingame events (in your head) for it to be based
Keep an eye out, bros
There's a mod called "polyamorySweet" that lets you marry as many spouses as you like. It's basically a copypaste from an old mod called free love which served the same purpose
It's a little bit janky, especially now as it just got updated there's some bug, but it overall works as intended as far as I've seen
Well if that gets updated it will be the first mod I use, that will solve my dilemma of never knowing who to marry

What do you mean updated?
It is currently "up to date". It's still a little messy, though, so you should give it a few months to let him patch things up. It mostly works, but not completely. The old one is the one that's not being upheld anymore

>almost at first Winter on Meadowlands >remember I don't really like tending to the animals every day
It's fine, I'll probably just replace all by barn animals with Pigs during the Winter, them and the coop animals are pretty low-maintenance
>pigs >low maintenance
Enjoy wasting hours a day collecting truffles only to realize ancient fruit is still the only reasonable way to afford all the endgame garbage, culminating in you bulldozing your barn of fat fricks in a fit of rage and regret.
I don't need to pick up the truffles every day though, I can just let them pile up when I'm busy
It's also nice that I can just sell them raw without losing much value
>sell them raw without losing much value
truffle oil isnt worth it if youre going all in on pigs. yeah, youll lose like 200 on each truffle by not making oil, but youll be making more than enough to make up for it, and much faster, if you have gatherer and botanist.
Protip
Name your animals after cute girls from shows and anime, that way youre more inclined to care for them
Personally I separate the shows by type of animals. See if you can guess which shows I've got represented (theyre all pretty easy lol)
Chickens
Clarke, Maddie, Octavia, Raven
Ducks >Shinji(malard skin from elle's cuter coop aminals), Asuka, Rei, Misato (female ducks)
Cows (normal skin) >Kate, Juliet, Penny, (Claire not gotten yet)
Cows (highland skin)
Aetheflaed, (following are not yet gotten) Skade, Hild, Stiora
Goats >Nancy, Robin, Maxine, Eleven
Bnnuys (when I get them) >Yui, Ui, Tsumugi, Mio, Ritsu, Sawako
There's pleanty more but I haven't really decided yet
It sounds like the Iridium Pan is going to simulate finding a particularly fruitful river in the Gold Rush. I really appreciate it, since the Pan has felt like a total after-thought until this moment.
I've been doing more panning on Ginger Island recently. I get a surprising amount of ore from the iridium pan, and sometimes it procs a new spot right next to me so I don't need to move.
I felt like even the copper pan is worth it now.
I usually get a bars worth of ore and most of the time something a little extra when I use it. I've had other things to do besides upgrading the pan so I don't know how it improves.
nobody really knows yet, but the iridium pan proccing itself over and over does sound interesting.
On one pan I got a Diamond, Emerald, and 9 Iron Ore. That is absolutely worth bringing it with you, especially if you just use it as a hat. Also I really really want Lucky Ring again.
Shane, Harvey, Elliot, and Emily are in their 30s/late 20s (Harvey is 100% in his 30s since he's a doctor)
Rest are in their early-mid 20s. Haley, Sam, and Alex are probably on the younger side since they act like they just graduated from high school

Brewing your own coffee is a scam, just buy it from the Saloon (also buy the recipe to turn it into Triple Shot Espresso so you don't have to drink it every two minutes). Your greenhouse space and kegs can be put to better use.
How do you guys find the motivation to keep playing after you've bought everything, done everything, and made your farm the exact way you wanted? And by everything I don't mean the autismal totem pole stuff. I'm talking like the community center, all the projects, got married, had kids, did pretty much everything on ginger island, did the theater, etc. Just keep farming even though you have more money than you could spend? I feel a profound emptiness.
That's generally where you'd stop
I've only done perfection on 2 playthroughs out of like 6
Once you feel like you've done everything you wanted, it's honestly time to put the game down for a while and come back later
I do recommend getting perfection atleast once, tho. It feels good
...wouldn't that be opposite? Wouldn't people who post shit like

I feel a profound emptiness.
Pro tip: The Pan is good now and worth using, get it at least to gold. The spots are rare, but always deliver good amounts of ore and gems. Also you can just wear it on your head so it doesn't even take up a slot.
Breh this thing is supposed to be so fricking rare yet I get it every single run. Sometimes I get two
It's not new to 1.6. It might have not been in while you were playing tho
>1.6 adds a leprechaun hat you can get fairly easily >leprechaun shoes are still virtually impossible as it's complete bullshit rng
APPPPEEEEE WHAT THE FUUUUUUUUCCCCKKKKK
Been thinking about getting in SW lately but I'm concerned about social links and romantic stuff. I don't want any of that. Can I be an butthole or even make enemies there? I want to be a secluded loner.
You can just avoid talking to everyone except the shopkeepers and ignore the introductions quest. You can't really be an butthole besides purposely giving people gifts they don't like.
the social part is voluntary. the game overall doesn't really push you hard in any direction. if you're a min/max addict you'll need to interact with all parts of the game but honestly the "social" shit only leads to recipes that make an easy casual game even easier and occasional low value gifts sent through mail, oh and i guess marrying your preferred thot/boipucci. it is almost a wash really if you don't personally value the fake interaction, you're spending the resource of time to run around the map talking to npcs and giving them things you could sell that could be spent fishing/mining. if you are concerned with playing a super efficient game, getting your waifu wed quickly, or a completionist then yeah you need to click on anywhere from some to every npc but if you just wanna farm, fish, kill monsters, and mine? nah you can entirely eschew that aspect of the game very easily
You can be a dick to people, give them garbage, go through their trash, shoot them with a slingshot. You can also say and do some pretty fricked up stuff in the social events and other related areas but you do have to befriend people to get to that point.
You don't really get punished for it, beyond losing friendship points and not getting the benefits of making friends with people.
You don't need to make friends with anyone to "beat the game" or even get the best "score" when you're evaluated at the end of your second year, but if you want to 100% the game befriending people and getting married/roomates IS required to get the "real" "ending" and completing various other achievements.
It's just okay, it's the best if you like ranching but that's it. Forest is still the GOAT, river comes with a free smoker now. I actually like hilltop the most design-wise.
last time i played SV i gave up before getting to level 100, this time around i went in prepared with slingshot, food buffs, cheese, 9 stairs, slime charmer and crab shell ring and waited for the first lucky day in winter. Got to level 100 on my first run and managed a few prismatic shards out of it, felt zamn good
That's okay. Barone didn't know either. SV literally has no engine.
I don't know shit about programming, but I've watched all of Tim Cain's videos, so I'm something of a game designer myself.
The first thing to keep in mind is you absolutely must not know a thing about farming, ranching or rural lifestyle in general. The way the characters live must seem like it's their lifestyle choice, not the force of the circumstance. Make everyone vegan.
Characters must be over the top diverse, liberal without question and dress like hipsters. It's best if you never mention their sex at all.
Don't include any dirty work. Animals don't shit, your clothes don't get filthy, it's impossible to get hurt, animals don't get sick and die, your tools never decay, everyone gets paid fairly.
This is important: make sure you waste as much of your player's time. Make a small inventory, forcing the player to go back and forth. Make shops work in dumb schedules. Place important areas in different corners of the map. Make sure that your player always struggles with time. Never let the player accomplish all of his goals in a single day. You need to make him waste at least 70 hours on every playthrough.
Say I know absolutely nothing about making a game, how do you go about making a Stardew Valley clone? Where do you even start?
it's not true that "SV literally has no engine".
FNA was used, which is a framework based on older microsoft'x XNA, C# based, it handles graphics, sound, etc.
It's a step lower than unity, godot, etc but higher than making your own engine from scratch, if you are a complete newbie just use unity or godot, you will get the same result, but you still got to do a lot of work to make your game not be an unoptimized laggy mess, it's a miracle the SV guy managed to work on the same engine for so long, he must have refactored a lot through the years
That goes against the Groundhog Day design of Stardew. You are the only dynamic force in the game, the lives of the characters are completely static.
Say I know absolutely nothing about making a game, how do you go about making a Stardew Valley clone? Where do you even start?
But he should take note. Stardew Valley with actually passing time could be good... But then the game can't last forever and that might cause panic attacks for players who want their playthrough to last forever!!
I hate that these coombrained waifu designs have become the default genderbends now

Months and months ago an anon posted a femElliott from a portrait mod he was making. It was the best one I've ever seen, wish I had saved it. No idea if he ever finished it either because he certainly never appeared again.

>What's the deal with the bell cat collar?
that one's definitely the most obnoxious but the hair clips and choker on the other 2 are also pretty bad
The Alex one is fine though, since he's supposed to be a generic pretty boy mannequin anyways
>have never done the community center to the end before >"but this save will be different, this time I will do the community center!" >forget some spring item >have to wait an entire year to make basic progression in the game >frick this shit >buy jojamart membership
There's only 1 maybe 2 run killers in the community center and it's obviously the quality crop bundle
It's the only one that if you miss there is basically nothing you can do no alternative method no way to cheat it and it's slow and has a lot of RNG
It probably should've been changed the first update the game ever got but then everybody just got used to it so now it will never be changed
Why bother doing that when the jojamart membership is much easier?
I try, I swear I do my best to do the community center every run, but I always forget something. This run I'll go out of my way to stick it out but I'm not so sure bros.
Probably. Speaking of Jodi, does anyone else get unbelievably horny when approaching her from behind while she's doing dishes with the intention of showering her with gifts?
>does anyone else get unbelievably horny when approaching her from behind while she's doing dishes
Getting horny with housewife doing housewife work is totally normal >with the intention of showering her with gifts?
Pampering working housewife is totally normal too
Cucking Kent before he gets home mod when
[...]
Probably, depends on when you made your last one. But probably.
An event when you free use her body while doing the dishes is a must
I love the update, but I couldn't help thinking about what we could've got, like >no update for children >no cotton plants for "no-animal run" cloth >no new bachelors/bachelorettes >no auto gates >no summer outfits >npcs (besides Alex and Linus, and Penny in that heart event) still don't go to the bathouse regularly >only 1 new fish >daffodils are still considered forage instead of flowers
>no cotton plants for "no-animal run" cloth
Never thought about it. Thats a great idea
Maybe it's because I've played the game a lot but I've never understood why people chop down every single tree and don't let unused parts of the farm overgrow. Especially in fall when it has the most benefit. In case you didn't know every single full grown tree on the farm has a chance to change into a mushroom tree from like the 4th of fall til the 28th. The more trees you have the higher the chance.
Just like in real life, you cannot know what ancestor's genes you're spreading. Plenty of seemingly white couples produce Black babies. Any child can be born black regardless of the parents' race. It would be racist to claim otherwise.
Maru will usually have a dark baby and a light skinned baby, unless you are black in which case you are supposed to get two black babies. However the system seems pretty faulty since I've seen people complain that abigail and leah gave them black babies.
>abigail and leah gave them black babies.
Fricking kek. For real? Never had this in all of my Penny and Haley playthroughs and they've produced dozens of children.
Transfer to nearby chests from inventory (only to and if the chest has the same item in it, so it goes to same stack). I know there's a mod that attempts to do it but it's buggy and not great. I'm good at chest/inventory management, but I hate going to them over and over just to stack shit in.
I love the update, but I couldn't help thinking about what we could've got, like >no update for children >no cotton plants for "no-animal run" cloth >no new bachelors/bachelorettes >no auto gates >no summer outfits >npcs (besides Alex and Linus, and Penny in that heart event) still don't go to the bathouse regularly >only 1 new fish >daffodils are still considered forage instead of flowers
>he has the tractor mod >he has the scythe mod >he has a mod that changes all the buildings to ugly white cottagecore shit >he has a fricking anime portraits mod
Disgusting
>start new farm to try everything new >go back to forest and play the exact same way I always have
I havent even noticed anything new apart from the moss and im almost at winter, I play this shit on autopilot
And yet he complains that they haven't noticed anything new. Seems like I'm just pointing out the fact that if he had started a new game on the new farm he would have seen something new much faster.
>find pic related >put it in house >few days later it is oriented differently (facing my bed) >a week or so later it's moved by 1 tile in my house
What's it's end game?
Are there any good portrait mods that actually work with the current version? I really don't like the default portraits so this shit is pretty much a requirement for me but the only one that is seemingly updated is the one that turns everyone into HM style blobs. The rest is either individual characters or just AI slop. Dear God, there is so much fricking AI slop.
>Emily made something called a squirrel loaf yesterday. How was it? Well, let's just say if my tail was a little bushier I probably would have loved it.
What did she mean by this, bros?
Guy who made this game could have literally released it 3 years earlier, but because he had OCD and no one around him was willing to restrain him he redid every single sprite and sound effect.
Also what's the state of Harvest Moon?
I tried the game again and was immediately reminded why I hated it. They introduce this beautiful woman in Robin at the start who you think is going to be your live interest only to find out she's married to a nog. The dev has a literal cuck fetish
I used to be an avid Mushroomhead but my beliefs have been thoroughly shattered by the Ape. There's literally no reason to pick mushrooms now that they only give you shit once every two days, not to mention the mushie log.
is it possible to try to date again after he starts dating them? I was at 6 hearts when he just started dating her and I had no idea he was going for her after telling everyone from the start that I was going for her and I'm beyond demoralized.
is it possible to try to date again after he starts dating them? I was at 6 hearts when he just started dating her and I had no idea he was going for her after telling everyone from the start that I was going for her and I'm beyond demoralized.
She hates people, rarely ventures into town. She lives in a fricking backwater, isn't a vendor nor do any quests involve her. Even Flor plays a bigger role in my farmer's life.
Having the totem pole thing to teleport there first thing in the morning and another thing to teleport back. A bunch of bombs and staircases and food, especially food that increases your speed. Getting your shit buffed at the forge makes the skull cave easier so you might want to reach that first. People swear by the slingshot but I have never used it.
How would you expand minerals and gemstones? Maybe socket your tools/weapons/armor or treat them like trinket charms. They don't sell for much but if you hold onto them and wait for a small seasonal event, gem fair you could sell only so many gemstones that could fit on your table. This way you could get unique collectors items.

is there a mod to make days longer or energy not drain as fast? i feel like i only get to do 5 minutes of shit and then straight back to bed
rather just farm in minecraft
cjb cheat menu lets you pause time, take no damage, and never drain energy, along with a bunch of other things, but theres no granularity, like just making the days longer or combat easier.
theres a mod called longer days that lets you choose how fast time is, and speeds time up by sitting on furniture, but no combat changes.
don't plant so much.
learn to make your own mods, it's not hard
>learn2code
just get a pause time mod and do shit at your own pace, unpause when you're ready to progress the day
>make days longer
https://www.nexusmods.com/stardewvalley/mods/169 looking at the comments it seems like it became a bit buggy since the last update, but it's still being maintained so maybe give it a few days or something
>energy not drain as fast
get stardrops and food
>get food
IT'S TOO EXPENSIVE
bruh, just catch fish you cheap frick.
bro your Salmonberries? your Chubs?
Grow it, forage it, catch it, go in to your farm cave and get enough mushrooms for 150+ energy etc etc
Energy is only a problem in your first spring, beyond that you're doing something wrong
>Energy is only a problem in your first spring
energy is only a problem for the first half of your first spring
get lvl 4 foraging by the 15ths (easy to do by just chopping trees, going to the beach etc) and you get 2 salmonberries from every bush
by the time salmonberry season is over you should have around 200 berries which is more than youll ever need to frickin eat no matter how hard you grind the mines/skull cavern, itll last you until blackberry season in fall, by which time you should have foraging lvl 8 and will get 3 berries from every bush, or if you have foraging level 10 you can eat the autumn bounty reward you get from the exotic forage bundle and boost it to 12 and get 4 berries from every bush, and youll literally never need to worry about energy again because youll have fricking 500 iridum blackberries that give you 65 energy each
There's no need to go full autist about it
You're only putting them off
this isnt even being autistic
its just somethingt hat should naturally happen as you play the game
part of it yea i do gather a lot of salmonberries year 1, i aim for around 100 across parts of each day which is usually plenty enough to bridge the gap. however the rest is definitely autistic nonsense that requires a lot of not completely obvious game knowledge and honestly isn't even a great strategy anyways
food should be a solved problem by the time blackberries are spawning unless you're doing something wrong in multiple aspects of the game. and by the time you've progressed that far your time is much more usefully spent doing almost anything else. similarly once you get to the point of having all your shit in order there is no point in gathering these low value berries. the only real exceptions are bad luck days where you want to give a bunch of gifts, complete quests, upgrade gear etc but otherwise its almost always a waste of time past fall year 1
>the rest is definitely autistic nonsense
naturally leveling up a stat that you use frequently in game and then harvesting blackberries when the t.v literally tells you "its blackberry season fricker get out there and pick them" is 'autistic nonsense'?
>not having a barn full of cows making delicious gold star cheeses for you every day
Cringe
No idea why that isn't already in the base game tbh.
i dropped the game around year ~2 where doing all the house chores took 3/4 of a day, this game, crops were no problem as they watered themselves, it was the fricking animal barns that took so long to loot and take care of
I found 2 ancient seeds. What should I do with them?
Eat them
If it's any season before fall, plant them with deluxe speed gro. Don't forget to water.
Plant them in your greenhouse or in the shed and grow them year-round.
He's playing SW instead of working on a farm. Just like how I love playing and I hate gardening.
I've never even made it to the island.
Cooking and eating seemed like something reserved for the mines.
>sdv gayspanded
>troonside village
No thanks
Keep your HIV+ garbage to yourself
I don't even want to have sex with that set of pixels you posted
>We have mods like Stardew Valley Expanded and Ridgeside Village. They make the flagship of the game now
Those are shit.
Gimme the rundown on Stardew Valley Expanded and Ridgeside Village.
Is its content mostly stand alone shit or does it also change vanilla stuff like villager dialogue/events and the like?
Is Ridgeside pozzed? I don't remember any woke shit in Expanded
Deeply overrated
>We
What an awful post
Ive never tried SVE, but have tried Ridgeside, so I'll give my two cents and add to this anon
Ridgeside overall is a completely medicore to bad addition. I'll start with the good
>new trees are pretty cool. always welcome
>some new cute girls added, however they're not too impressive when they have to compete with all stars like Haley, Emily, Penny, Abby, etc
>one system which I'll write a separate post for, so it doesn't bog down this one by going off topic
>new festivals are generally nice and welcome additions
>the areas is okay, i guess to explore, but not great
That's pretty much all the good stuff out of the way, but the bad vastly outweighs it
>mod is very separated from the base game. Beyond some character from the mod going to pelican town, there is almost no lines from vanilla npcs that even acknowledge ridgeside. Those that do are restricted to festivals
>haunted foresr area or whatever sucks
>"storyline" is fricking garbage with some bullshit about your grandma being this girlboss ninja warrior who saved the world with her lesbian freinds
>characters are actual caricatures of people. They will often use real life non english languages in dialog (despite the game not being earth). So you have people greeting you with "hola" or some nip kid saying "oniichan". It's fricking cringe and ruins all immersion
>they also made sure to go down the checklist and include wow diverse such inclusive
>italian and bl*ck mixed race couple, pacific islander, spics, chinks, double Black folk and a literal zestyhomie that is incapable of not hitting on you even though youre not fricking gay, and- to top it all off- a literal troon that directly tries to convince Vincent that he's le trans in a cutscene (which your character is forced to smile at, btw)
(1/2)
>speaking of cutscenes, man do these things have nowhere to fricking be.
You cant unsub
SVE has a great retooling of the areas, at least. That Galdoran shit is mediocre though even if Athena and Camilla rule
Camilla marriage when
>frickers still after all this time have no eta at all
>onvince Vincent that he's le trans in a cutscene (which your character is forced to smile at, btw)
Proof?
It's real in his head.
East Scarp, now that's an abomination. None of its characters do anything. Most of them are old, black or both.
I installed this East Scarp mod once and never again, holy moly, the art on the first character I met was super awful and even sea monsters can’t save it
I'm currently running it. I regret it, but I've invested the entire spring in the save already. ES has no direction. Characters are bland and additional characters feel out of place. It makes SVE and RV seem like they are vanilla in terms of narrative incorporation.
>your grandma being this girlboss ninja warrior who saved the world with her lesbian freinds
u wot

This makes sense in a fantasy world. A grandfather cannot leave his land to a single grandkid. His children would sue the MC's ass and in the best case scenario he'd get the farm, but he'd have to pay off his relatives or it's game over.
You get your green thumb from your grandfather and your fighting talent from your grandma. It makes perfect sense.
Dialog choices alway boil down to Fallout 4's Yes, Yes, Yes (sarcastic) and Maybe later.

Should I continue that save or restart from scratch considering all the updates?
Restart
restart
1.6 made the slime hutch smaller so you can probably squeeze another coop in there. also needs fencing around the ponds.
ok, thanks
i just made it to ginger island for the first time, what am i in for?
a lot of close calls.
hunting for walnuts with a spreadsheet
More nuts than you can handle.
DEEZ NUTS
HA. GOTTEM
A greenhouse that's basically 10x larger.
Any good portraits for Rasmodia?
>CORPORATIONS BAD
>NATURE GOOD
Yes
yes you don't live in nature
curious!
Wish that I could, but the society that I was forced to be raised in did not permit such opportunities.
ok, explain why.
corporations are a liberal construct.
corporation by design only exists to serve a very narrow, myopic purpose at the expense everything around it. Being in that environment you are then also expected to wholly change your nature to fit its purpose down to the most base and narrow of function. You are not a man anymore, you are only a tool and this is by design.
nature has no defined purpose or rigid goal and so exists in harmony with man where existence is now only defined by oneself.
hate rich c**ts
Yes?
>I must be contrarian!!!
We all came from nature. Corporation are as much part of us as troony ideology. Man made horror
Yes!!
Is there a mod that makes coffee work properly
I don't know what ape was thinking making coffee beans a rare drop only and then it works like a regular crop for some reason not an orchard tree
the gypsy sells the bean
and once you have one bush you get multiple beans per harvest every 3 days
>sam starts wearing a beanie
>women now lust after him, but only while he's wearing the beanie
Damn it's hobo Phoenix all over again. Spiky anime hair is really a debuff
>wake up
>call gus to see what food he's selling
>watch tv to check my daily luck
>watch forecast to check if it rains tomorrow
>check calendar for birthdays and events
>kiss my wife
>drink coffee
>refill machines
>harvest crops
>pet every animal
>visit krobus for his daily stock
>check job board
>give a birthday gift
I can finally start my day and grind skull cave/chop every tree/fish/jobs
it's so tiresome
I put extra mayonnaise on my sandwich today to honor this update
>not drinking the mayo
You failed Ape. Flagellate yourself.
I hate mayo, eating this sandwich is already torture.
>Flagellate yourself.
I tried several times but I'm not flexible enough
daring today, aren't we
Any new music in the update?
can i move the farm building to a different place?
no
>added a new interaction with your horse
Challenge Mode: You can only profit from parsnips
Anyone remember if you can upgrade existing barns or coops? I have one of each and thinking of putting down a second, but wondering if I can just upgrade one of the existing ones for my rancher playthrough
pretty sure you upgrade existing coops and barns
sweeeeet
you can only upgrade, no cheating for the last tier
Which way, Western man?
I went gemologist to get better value out of geodes. I'm currently swimming in ores from both mining and panning and geode openings.
1+ ore is objectively superior. Who the frick actually sells gems for profit?
What do you do with the gems?
Nta but i hoard my gems like a dragon, knowing one day i'll have enough diamonds to buy the valley.
Jade, Rubies, and Diamonds are all traded to the desert trader. I start selling Diamonds when I get the hot java ring though.
and you can craft a station to make them from copies lol
>Who the frick actually sells gems for profit?
me
i still get +1 ore path, then when my crystalarium farm has enough gems loaded up, i swap skills in the sewer and sell
I just had to pick mine. I went miner because i want (need) that extra ore
miner and prospector.
im so tired of seeing gays talk about how useless prospector is. yeah, maybe late game when you can swim through your money like scrooge mcduck. coal is one of the rarer resources thats used constantly and itll be at a couple years before you can subsist on just farming trees to throw in the kiln or outright buying it. geo/gem is only worth going early if you already have 2-3 crystalariums pumping out diamonds.
new quarry fixed the coal issue
Monster Compendium helps out with coal too. Getting a slight boost on coal from Dust Sprites makes a huge difference on total coal supply, way before either the Bandit Ring or the Quarry are unlocked.
you always need metal, so miner
gifts
i set the profit margin to 25% and have just been playing lazily not stressing about optimization or anything
its so much more fun this way, you guys gotta try it
I'd enjoy this game more if two things
1. Fricking get rid of the Stamina meter and let me just work on my fricking farm
2. The characters don't feel unfinished and the writing can't decide if these are "REAL" with having trauma and shit or if they're just Harvest Moon characters there to be wholesome.
>Fricking get rid of the Stamina meter and let me just work on my fricking farm
eat
>the writing can't decide if these are "REAL" with having trauma and shit or if they're just Harvest Moon characters there to be wholesome.
What the frick does this even mean? Do you think people with trauma are just miserable all the time?
No I just dont' like being reminded about life being shitty because it reminds me of me to much.
I need to make money, I can't eat what I grow.
>I need to make money, I can't eat what I grow.
need to spend energy to make energy
Just stuff your face with salmonberries.
>wasting precious seeds on this shit
how am I gonna fill 3 sheds with kegs if im not playing and cutting trees endlessly
Buy it before the price hike
You aren't poor, are you?
of course I am, I have 300 jellies ready to sell but I have 3 days until next harvest when I unlock artisan so ive been living off a few hundred bucks a day until then
>characters can't have more than one thing going on for them
Play with Ridgeside, you'll learn to appreciate vanilla's characters more.
go to crops for first year?
I'm almost done with spring and it's sad how the crops we get from Pierre are so cheap to sell while the only crop called strawberry is only available during egg festivals. hopefully by next year his shop will sell strawberry too?
>hopefully by next year his shop will sell strawberry too?
what? you mean.... bastard Pierre. why tf should i take his side over that joja israelite.
strawberries are an early "frick you, be prepared next year" from the game. year 2 youll know to go in rich and stockpile seeds.
shaking trees costs no energy and youll have to chop down trees eventually anyway.
>shaking trees
i forgot all about this! Thanks!
You can also find some decent food in trashcans. Just don't do it while anyone is around...
>go to crops for first year?
You can never go wrong with the berries and "big" crops. Go big on those, but don't forget to get what you need for the Community Center bundles too.
If you have enough money and space to plant them, it doesn't hurt to get at least one of everything just in case someone requests it on the Help Wanted board during that season.
I enjoy
AAAAAHHHHHHHHH I FRICKING
L O V E MIXED FLOWER SEEDS SO MUCH
I like to think Abigail has a body like Low-keydeadinside, but this would be fine, too.
Frick. Forgot pic.
god damn Kingdom Heart shoes man
you might have autism anon
And I think Abigail wears a size 15 in men.
I'm guessing you've just never owned a pair of boots
And I'm guessing you have not either.
I never bothered getting a horse
For me it's spring onions / leeks then salmonberries until the crab pot -----> sashimi pipeline is operational
which girl is the spring onion and which is the leek?
I hate how the game lets you choose between "Tiller" and "Rancher" implying a split path between crops and animals, yet the Tiller path inevitably gives you a perk that makes your animals more profitable than they would be on the Rancher path.
Yeah that never made sense.
All of the skill paths feel really lopsided. I was hoping this update would fix that.
does the e-girl mods still work on the new version?
The e-girl bachelorette mods might still work but they'll have the girls age up during winter, I'd like to update the mods eventually to simply remove the new sprites and portraits and keep the e-girl ones in.
Sort of, but not with all their content and no winter outfits. Best to wait for things to get up to date.
Is it weird that I use the greenhouse, but not the island? Game gets too easy when you access that.
I do the same
same but not because it's easy but because going to the island every day is a pain in the ass
Do you make your own custom greenhouses full of self watering pots though? I love my pineapple shed.
You can use sprinklers in sheds?
Personally, I plant an equal amount of every regrowable on the island and only check in once a week
If I remember my set up, a full harvest of 16x each crop planted, once a week is about 25k. It's honestly not that much in the endgame, but once it's set up it takes no work to to upkeep and you can use the main farm for only growing nonregrowables
Here's what my island looked like
All of these had highest level fertilizer, too, so I was getting iridium crops
>You can use sprinklers in sheds?
they do but they dont water pots
Retaining soil + regrowing crop means you only need to water once
I see
Unfortunately, your pinapples aren't purple tho
Has the minmax meta changed?
I don't think it has
smoker is good but you get it kinda late from the ticket machine and buying the recipe doesn't seem worth it
any preset mod packs that turn all the villagers into women and you can make a harem?
careful anon, bringing up a genderbend mod will have the people with trannoids rent free in their head will come out of the woodworks
I hope wax sticks around, but he's a fickle soul.
Unironically how do I have fun in this game? I have around 100 hours in it. The first time was sorta fun, but gradually I came to realize it was just a really shallow chore simulator collectathon, and I can't play more than a single day without feeling extremely demotivated to continue.
Tips?
not every game is for everyone
dont try to do everything. set 1 or 2 personal goals to focus on and disregard everything else. when youre satisfied with those, set another. there is no rush to get perfection, and even the year 3 evaluation can be retried for no penalty however many times you want. just do what you want and take as much time as you want.
theres also the chance
is right.
It's a relaxation game. You just play it to build your little world, like the Sims.
I, however, play it for this grape.
What is my wife doing on the computer. This is why kids shouldn't be allowed access to such things.
She's borrowing the farm computer for a school assignment.
how do I have fun in this game? I have around 100 hours in it
You must have had some fun to put 100 hours into it. If not, you seem to be a crazy person.
Move on my dude. Play a different game. 100 hours is a decent chunk of time.
It's part of the experience. Real life farming is even worse. My cousin is keeping livestock and she and her partner have to care for it from 5 in the morning till late at night when she comes back from work. No kidding.
Making a trader Jojas farm
FRICK, I can already see how the event goes. You damn genius. If people can stomach not having great art for cgs I guess I can do it myself, save myself the trouble of requesting commissions or going into an Ganker drawthread.
gonna take some time to get the rust off, haven't done anything in 4 years
cute girl, your making a mod about her? she a new character or from something?
Ah meant to respond to
That's an abyssal ship from Kancolle, one of the last things I ever did, digitally, and something i need to strive for again when possibly creating CGs for the Kanna mod.
i made her hair too pink since at the time i figured i wanted to make it pop out more in contrast to her skin
It's been a good summer bros
>married Haley and Emily (in a couple days, but in my headcanon it was a double wedding on the night of the moonlight jellies)
>good crop set up going into fall. Have enough quality spronks to fill the whole rest of the place
>full barn and coop. Final upgrades should go quick as a brick
>on track to get bluechimkens soon
>got a 3k apple tree from based smuggler
>experienced the KINO that is green rain
>going into fall with 30k
>on track to finish the community center before the end of y1 (although I usually wait until the last day so that the cutscene happens in the spring.
Haley AND Emily?
Yeh
🙂
How?
I assumed 1.6 broke everything
Yes, but it's now called "polyamorysweet" instead of "freelove" and works mostly. There's still some bugs, but I was able to marry both Haley and Emily in 1.6
>almost at first Winter on Meadowlands
>remember I don't really like tending to the animals every day
It's fine, I'll probably just replace all by barn animals with Pigs during the Winter, them and the coop animals are pretty low-maintenance
>pigs
>low maintenance
Ducks
>Shinji(malard skin from elle's cuter coop aminals), Asuka, Rei, Misato (female ducks)
Cows (normal skin)
>Kate, Juliet, Penny, (Claire not gotten yet)
Cows (highland skin)
Aetheflaed, (following are not yet gotten) Skade, Hild, Stiora
Goats
>Nancy, Robin, Maxine, Eleven
Bnnuys (when I get them)
>Yui, Ui, Tsumugi, Mio, Ritsu, Sawako
There's pleanty more but I haven't really decided yet
Why is she so smug?
Because she is very smart
Is that a new 1.6 line?
It's from the old Penny teaching event.
t. Professional Jasologist
>Check out SVE
>I can marry a MILF or a depressed hag with a dead end job
Bros wtf why didn't you tell me sooner
Honestly regret starting a new game. There hasn't been enough content so far to warrant it.
I havent played SV literally since launch
What should i be aware of if i go back in today
literally impossible to inform you. it was already a completely different game in 1.5.
Set off some bombs
>there are now upgrades for the pan
Are they worth it or is panning still useless?
nobody really knows yet, but the iridium pan proccing itself over and over does sound interesting.
On one pan I got a Diamond, Emerald, and 9 Iron Ore. That is absolutely worth bringing it with you, especially if you just use it as a hat. Also I really really want Lucky Ring again.
>Keep forgetting to bring copper bars with me when I run to the smithy to upgrade shit.
FRICK
Beat Clint over the head with a wrench to punish him for facilitating your folly by owning a blacksmith you wanted to use.
YES CLINT I KNOW YOU'RE UPGRADING MY AXE I TOLD YOU TO YOU OFFER OTHER SERVICES DO YOU FRICKING NOT OPEN MY GEODES YOU MOTHERFRICKER
Ape is adding the ability to use Clint while he's upgrading a tool in the next patch
Beat Clint over the head with a geode to punish him for disobeying you
What are their ages?
everyone in the game is 13, even the wizard.
Shane, Harvey, Elliot, and Emily are in their 30s/late 20s (Harvey is 100% in his 30s since he's a doctor)
Rest are in their early-mid 20s. Haley, Sam, and Alex are probably on the younger side since they act like they just graduated from high school
Eliot - 26
Shane - 28
Sebastian - 24
Sam - 18
Harvey - 28
Alex - 20
Abigail - 18
Emily - 22
Haley - 22
Leah - 26
Maru - 19
Penny - 20

They were born on 26 February 2016, so they are 8

>Pushing 30

I heard there is a new prestige system for skills.
What is that about? Can I have multiple professions now?
what am i missing, bros?
looks like moss
I'm going into year 2, should I buy a horse or just set up coffee production in my greenhouse?
Coffee speed buff effects the horse. Or at least it used to.
>should I buy a horse
Yes
Brewing your own coffee is a scam, just buy it from the Saloon (also buy the recipe to turn it into Triple Shot Espresso so you don't have to drink it every two minutes). Your greenhouse space and kegs can be put to better use.
Both
You can't take your horse everywhere
Speed buffs stack with horse.
this gonna sound moronic but should i save my summer crops so i can turn it into wine or just sell it?
melon wine is a money machine if u have enough kegs
thanks, i was making beer but now melons are my choice
Freindship ended with beer
Wine is my new best friend
How do you guys find the motivation to keep playing after you've bought everything, done everything, and made your farm the exact way you wanted? And by everything I don't mean the autismal totem pole stuff. I'm talking like the community center, all the projects, got married, had kids, did pretty much everything on ginger island, did the theater, etc. Just keep farming even though you have more money than you could spend? I feel a profound emptiness.
Maybe your game has concluded at that point.
>I'm talking like the community center
>I feel a profound emptiness
The solution is quite simple.
That's generally where you'd stop
I've only done perfection on 2 playthroughs out of like 6
Once you feel like you've done everything you wanted, it's honestly time to put the game down for a while and come back later
I do recommend getting perfection atleast once, tho. It feels good
time to bring out the modslop
It's fun.
Either go for the big mods (even though most of them suck) or just put the game down and come back when the mood strikes again.
>and made your farm the exact way you wanted?
lol
lmao
2000 hours and I've yet to hit year 3
There is never a farm the exact way I want
I usually only consider a save complete after I get the totems and clock.
>only way to make riverlands look good is to turn it into a forest
Riverbros.. where did it all go wrong?
That's the end of the game.
Either grab some mods, marry someone else, or just call the game done.
>how do you guys find the motivation to keep playing the game after you've beaten the game?
Why are zoomers like this?
Directionless and (self)meaningless lives. Grasping within what is familiar.
>t. bitter and joyless MMOgays
...wouldn't that be opposite? Wouldn't people who post shit like
be an MMO drone, anon?
It's OK for games to have a finite amount of content, zoomer. It's healthy to move on to different things.
Pro tip: The Pan is good now and worth using, get it at least to gold. The spots are rare, but always deliver good amounts of ore and gems. Also you can just wear it on your head so it doesn't even take up a slot.
Well this is new. I haven't played since 1.1.
Breh this thing is supposed to be so fricking rare yet I get it every single run. Sometimes I get two
It's not new to 1.6. It might have not been in while you were playing tho
>1.6 adds a leprechaun hat you can get fairly easily
>leprechaun shoes are still virtually impossible as it's complete bullshit rng
APPPPEEEEE WHAT THE FUUUUUUUUCCCCKKKKK
>Tailor a Carrot
> Makes a Carrot-top.
Ape's a cheeky fricker.
You don't need to make friends with anyone to "beat the game" or even get the best "score" when you're evaluated at the end of your second year, but if you want to 100% the game befriending people and getting married/roomates IS required to get the "real" "ending" and completing various other achievements.
bros I just want to breed Caroline but Abe won't let me
how's the new farm btw, is it comfy enough to beat out forest/river?
It's just okay, it's the best if you like ranching but that's it. Forest is still the GOAT, river comes with a free smoker now. I actually like hilltop the most design-wise.
>river comes with a free smoker now
Really, how?
How do you get the Jas dialouge where she talks about having nightmares about fire?
I love this black girl like you wouldn't believe
>talks about having nightmares about fire?
Is this new 1.6 dialogue? Bet that's how her parents died.
I read its new to 1.6 but I don't know how to trigger it.
This is from a single pan with the Iridium Pan, this item is sooo much better.
I actually get excited when I see the pan spots now
another haul from a single pan, this is so good now
>when you forget to get the pufferfish in summer
bro, your hat?
You'd best keep yer dirty 'ands off me pot 'o GOLD, ya 'twat
watch this swag
I want Shane to wear this outfit when I marry him.
I wear the pink bimbo ribbon
what stardew valley mods turn it into something like factorio
i want automated corn syrup farms
can I crab pot the little pond in the standard farm or does only garbage come out?
Caviar should be worth more
>finally catch sturgeon
>full inventory
>accidentally throw it away
If anyone's looking to install SVE on an existing save, I recommend doing it with an empty greenhouse
RIP my ancient fruits
the homosexual from SVE stopped working on 2.0 just to work on whatever the frick he did for this update.
I think this is my best year 1 skull caverns run ever. Had a ton of prep for it though, 50+ bombs and staircases.
slingshot w/ explosive ammo > bombs
last time i played SV i gave up before getting to level 100, this time around i went in prepared with slingshot, food buffs, cheese, 9 stairs, slime charmer and crab shell ring and waited for the first lucky day in winter. Got to level 100 on my first run and managed a few prismatic shards out of it, felt zamn good
I love my cute rock-munching wife!
How do I smoke fish?
Use a smoker.
Carefully
Guess I'll play through again when the update is universal. How is the new farm?
Dunno, still playing forest
Fun if you're doing ranching
Any recolors that work in 1.6 that isn't make the game desaturated and sad looking?
Aparently starblue just got updated, but it's not complete
Say I know absolutely nothing about making a game, how do you go about making a Stardew Valley clone? Where do you even start?
We have lots of Stardew Valley clones, anon. Yet here we are, in the Stardew Valley thread.
This game is very fun and addicting. I wish there was more games like this.
there's dozens of games that are almost exactly the same
That's okay.
You need to make him waste at least 70 hours on every playthrough.
it's not true that "SV literally has no engine".
FNA was used, which is a framework based on older microsoft'x XNA, C# based, it handles graphics, sound, etc.
It's a step lower than unity, godot, etc but higher than making your own engine from scratch, if you are a complete newbie just use unity or godot, you will get the same result, but you still got to do a lot of work to make your game not be an unoptimized laggy mess, it's a miracle the SV guy managed to work on the same engine for so long, he must have refactored a lot through the years
state machine
user interface
good job Ganker you got me to play stardew valley for another 20 minutes I'll come back after a year
the game really needs rival heart events like harvest moon
At least more people comment on the marriage now.
That goes against the Groundhog Day design of Stardew. You are the only dynamic force in the game, the lives of the characters are completely static.
But he should take note. Stardew Valley with actually passing time could be good... But then the game can't last forever and that might cause panic attacks for players who want their playthrough to last forever!!
I feel bad now
>not playing with gender swapped bachelors and harem mods and marrying both Haley and girlAlex
What's the best portrait mod for this
Talkoh's
>tfw femElliot is just Leah but good
>not updated
GODDAMNIT
I hate that these coombrained waifu designs have become the default genderbends now
Months and months ago an anon posted a femElliott from a portrait mod he was making. It was the best one I've ever seen, wish I had saved it. No idea if he ever finished it either because he certainly never appeared again.
>best I've ever seen
>can't remember a simple combination of words to find it in the archives
Grandpa you forgot your pants again.
I dug through every combination of words I could find both on Ganker and nexus and found next to nothing except this abandoned Sam mod from 2016
https://www.nexusmods.com/stardewvalley/mods/307
What's the deal with the bell cat collar?
I think so too, but the Life Elixir is severely outdated.
>What's the deal with the bell cat collar?
that one's definitely the most obnoxious but the hair clips and choker on the other 2 are also pretty bad
The Alex one is fine though, since he's supposed to be a generic pretty boy mannequin anyways
is there a genderbent one for the girls as boys?
>t. gaynon
Yes
can you post it or tell me the source
It was on the nexus, no idea if it got purged by the usual suspects
Yes
Is this dialogue from right after the wedding, or later on?
Yeah, what most gamers do to the farm isn't that different from joja. Should be a secret bad ending if you have too many kegs/machines.
Pirate vs Angler
Thoughts?
started playing stardew valley, what should i know? i played once before but forgot almost everything
The less you know, the more you'll enjoy the game. Just enjoy it.
It's even bigger deal IRL.
>oh noooooo Leah has an ex!
Do incel farmers really? She’s clearly the best girl
How does Kel's sloppy seconds taste?
You meet a 10/10 irl, get with her, and run into an asshurt ex who is suicidal over bungling a relationship with bestgirl then talk about seconds
Leah's heart events are literally an NTR story where you're the bull.
>have never done the community center to the end before
>"but this save will be different, this time I will do the community center!"
>forget some spring item
>have to wait an entire year to make basic progression in the game
>frick this shit
>buy jojamart membership
As I've said many times, the items should automatically be donated to the community center as soon as you acquire them. Do it, Ape.
There's only 1 maybe 2 run killers in the community center and it's obviously the quality crop bundle
It's the only one that if you miss there is basically nothing you can do no alternative method no way to cheat it and it's slow and has a lot of RNG
It probably should've been changed the first update the game ever got but then everybody just got used to it so now it will never be changed
build a coop and use the item exploit pussy
Why bother doing that when the jojamart membership is much easier?
I try, I swear I do my best to do the community center every run, but I always forget something. This run I'll go out of my way to stick it out but I'm not so sure bros.
Because the community center is more rewarding to complete than selling out to some soulless corpo.
>rewarding
Yeah, I sure love seeing Clint use the Community Center as an excuse to be an useless piece of shit all day, and nobody else!
>Deployed soldier's wife is named Jodi
Intentional?
Probably. Speaking of Jodi, does anyone else get unbelievably horny when approaching her from behind while she's doing dishes with the intention of showering her with gifts?
Cucking Kent before he gets home mod when
Probably, depends on when you made your last one. But probably.
ya
>jody
I wish I could kneel behind her and let her use my face as her chair while she washes the dishes
and I wish I could hug her from behind
>does anyone else get unbelievably horny when approaching her from behind while she's doing dishes
Getting horny with housewife doing housewife work is totally normal
>with the intention of showering her with gifts?
Pampering working housewife is totally normal too
An event when you free use her body while doing the dishes is a must
Elaborate
Jody/Jodi is military slang for someone who fricks your wife while you're deployed, and sometimes used to refer to the wife herself
Elaborate
>no cotton plants for "no-animal run" cloth
Never thought about it. Thats a great idea
>Elaborate
Should i start a new save?
>Pelican Town
>never even seen a pelican there in my whole life
Haven't played in like 6 months holy shit
Summer first year
Also like my tenth save file lmao I love the early game so much
Early game is exciting because you can still frick up if you don't save those gold star parsnips.
I thought you were going to make an anti-minmax post but then you suddenly went even more minmax than the people you were complaining about.
I clean the farm because of aesthetics. I like having everything empty because building is easier.
Minmax? Mushroom trees are 100% aesthetic. Nothing says unique looking farm more than having it half covered in mushrooms
agreed
get treepilled
I'll get the same trees with mods and will post screencaps here and you will say nice things about it
>Mods

Route that lets me put both pierre and morris into the fricking soil as fertilizer?
Don't worry, update is playable again.
Call me when I can marry Robin.
There's a home wrecker mod somewhere.
jesus christ i've read better quality smut on quizilla
im here kneeding my dick got breasts on my shit over here
Does this mod also change the skin color of maru's children? Because it'd be pretty hilarious if it doesn't
Just like in real life, you cannot know what ancestor's genes you're spreading. Plenty of seemingly white couples produce Black babies. Any child can be born black regardless of the parents' race. It would be racist to claim otherwise.
nice bait, israelite
The coal burner's gamble
What color are they usually.
Maru will usually have a dark baby and a light skinned baby, unless you are black in which case you are supposed to get two black babies. However the system seems pretty faulty since I've seen people complain that abigail and leah gave them black babies.
>abigail and leah gave them black babies.
Fricking kek. For real? Never had this in all of my Penny and Haley playthroughs and they've produced dozens of children.
>abigail and leah gave them black babies.
The jokes write themselves
Who the frick willingly interacts with Maru?
It does not, which is why I took initiative and updated it. I present White Maru and Demetrius - Uncucked edition!
https://files.catbox.moe/ysmdki.7z
How do I use this?
https://stardewvalleywiki.com/Modding:Player_Guide/Getting_Started
Thanks. I hope he updates his Clint mod at some point. I had forgotten about it.
SNEEDING
do the new big chest work with the crafting table? dont want to waste my resources on it if it doesn't work
Yes
Which features is this update lacking?
How would you fix it?
Butchery.
By adding butchery.
You know how you can quick stack items per chest? I'l like this to cover more chests.
Transfer to nearby chests from inventory (only to and if the chest has the same item in it, so it goes to same stack). I know there's a mod that attempts to do it but it's buggy and not great. I'm good at chest/inventory management, but I hate going to them over and over just to stack shit in.
I love the update, but I couldn't help thinking about what we could've got, like
>no update for children
>no cotton plants for "no-animal run" cloth
>no new bachelors/bachelorettes
>no auto gates
>no summer outfits
>npcs (besides Alex and Linus, and Penny in that heart event) still don't go to the bathouse regularly
>only 1 new fish
>daffodils are still considered forage instead of flowers
>he has the tractor mod
>he has the scythe mod
>he has a mod that changes all the buildings to ugly white cottagecore shit
>he has a fricking anime portraits mod
Disgusting
All you need is seasonal outfits
Things are going good boys
>start new farm to try everything new
>go back to forest and play the exact same way I always have
I havent even noticed anything new apart from the moss and im almost at winter, I play this shit on autopilot
>didn't pick the new farm
Well I guess that's an easy way to miss blue grass.
You can craft it later
And yet he complains that they haven't noticed anything new. Seems like I'm just pointing out the fact that if he had started a new game on the new farm he would have seen something new much faster.
You kinda dumb, famdingo.
YAS!
You can't do it again
>find pic related
>put it in house
>few days later it is oriented differently (facing my bed)
>a week or so later it's moved by 1 tile in my house
What's it's end game?
It's a reference to that SETI game.
Seasonal Outfits - Slightly Cuter Aesthetic
There's even versions for SVE, RSV and ES!
>night market
>pay to fish
>end up with more seaweed than fish
Why is this allowed? Fricking dogshit luck today.
Black folk
What's the new cameo in Maru's 14th heart event Ape hinted at?
>inb4 nobody knows because nobody marries Maru
Demetrius murders you.
>Emily made something called a squirrel loaf yesterday. How was it? Well, let's just say if my tail was a little bushier I probably would have loved it.
What did she mean by this, bros?
Squirrel is a common food in rural areas. She's basically saying if she were more rustic, and country, she would have enjoyed it more.
A squirrel loaf is a type of really nutty bread. She's saying that if she were a squirrel she'd like it
I've gotten 2 trash can hats and don't know what to do with them.
Throw them away
wear one and put another on an urchin
Blessed run.
>use mod that lets you choose who you get
very cool anon
I don't use mods.
Guy who made this game could have literally released it 3 years earlier, but because he had OCD and no one around him was willing to restrain him he redid every single sprite and sound effect.
Also what's the state of Harvest Moon?
>Also what's the state of Harvest Moon?
Dead just like its fans.
>Also what's the state of Harvest Moon?
Apparently Story of Seasons: Pioneers of Olive Town was alright.
I tried the game again and was immediately reminded why I hated it. They introduce this beautiful woman in Robin at the start who you think is going to be your live interest only to find out she's married to a nog. The dev has a literal cuck fetish
>falling for a b***h who mocks your beautiful farmstead despite having a hobo in her backyard
You deserve the metaphorical cucking. homosexual.
YOUR PUSSY IS THE THING THATLL BE CRUSTY AFTER IM DONE WITH YOU
I was so mad at that when I started the game lel, had to settle for the town's second ginger
Her husband is white in my game
Sounds like a skill issue on your part
Her husband should be me
What’s the best anime mod for this game?
Depends on your taste. Look at their previews and make your decision.
FastAnimations makes this game so much better holy shit
I'm gonna frick Robin.
hope you enjoy my crusty seconds
Probably also frick Sebastian.
Batbros............. did I get tricked? Most days I get nothing, and if I do get something it's like one Salmonberry...............................
Oh no no no no no
aaaaahhhhhh HHHHEEEEEEEEEEEEEE
HE FELL FOR THE BATMEME!
shroombros.. don't be too hard on him now
I used to be an avid Mushroomhead but my beliefs have been thoroughly shattered by the Ape. There's literally no reason to pick mushrooms now that they only give you shit once every two days, not to mention the mushie log.
In the first week I got 2 plums, an apricot, and a pomegranate. You just have bad RNG.
Black person
I need to intentionally stall or sabotage a friend who is trying to marry a villager in a multiplayer game.
marry that villager before he does
is it possible to try to date again after he starts dating them? I was at 6 hearts when he just started dating her and I had no idea he was going for her after telling everyone from the start that I was going for her and I'm beyond demoralized.
Just give up before you embarrass yourself any further.
nah i've got a better idea
>got to 8 hearts
>got bouquet
>can date someone who's already dating
>it's the beginning of winter
it begins
Marry him instead
It sounds like you're not friends at all. Taking away someone's waifu can cause serious harm to his mental health.
see
How does the respawning stuff actually work?
What do you mean? Some stuff respawns
I'm a year in and I entirely forgot the doctor exists.
Harvey, Maru, Susan, Sophia, Gunther... Continue the forgotten character list.
>Sophia
>literally Flashshifter's waifu and the single most jerked off character by SVE fans
>forgotten
You double moron.
She hates people, rarely ventures into town. She lives in a fricking backwater, isn't a vendor nor do any quests involve her. Even Flor plays a bigger role in my farmer's life.
It's fullly intended. She's supposed to be ridiculously hard to raise friendship with so players chase her harder and think she's more special.
Too bad Olivia mogs her in every way despite being used goods and an enemy spy.
literally who
Shane fricks chickens
Why can't we?
Is there a mod where the horse is a donkey instead?
Pic unrelated
Is there a way to get to 100 floor of Skull dungeon while playing in multiplayer session? I barely make it to 25 floor at 10 pm
Having the totem pole thing to teleport there first thing in the morning and another thing to teleport back. A bunch of bombs and staircases and food, especially food that increases your speed. Getting your shit buffed at the forge makes the skull cave easier so you might want to reach that first. People swear by the slingshot but I have never used it.
>and another thing to teleport back
If you fall asleep in the mines you don't die, IIRC. You just lose 1000g as if you collapsed anywhere else.
slingshot loaded with cherry bombs makes the caverns beyond trivial
How would you expand minerals and gemstones? Maybe socket your tools/weapons/armor or treat them like trinket charms. They don't sell for much but if you hold onto them and wait for a small seasonal event, gem fair you could sell only so many gemstones that could fit on your table. This way you could get unique collectors items.
Gems are outrageous.
