It depends on the game's implementation of TAA and its implementation of DLSS. DLSS is trash in some games, especially the older DLSS versions. In most games it's 99.9% identical to 1080p native. And in some games the native resolution's TAA implementation is trash and DLSS is just a straight up upgrade with no downside. (And this is starting to happen more and more often.)

This game's a great example. The native TAA implementation has the this very noticeable ghosting for all the movement, and it doesn't handle jagged lines all that well at 1080p. I can upload a video showing you how the robot on the character's back visibly ghosts when moving around on the native resolution, like there's an afterimage to its motions. In the DLSS version there's no ghosting at all, and DLSS also handles the jagged lines more naturally at 1080p as you can see in this comparison. And comes with a 36% framerate boost.
DLSS is just a straight up upgrade in some games and it's cope or sour grapes effect to say otherwise. Hell, you can even supersample to 1440p and turn on DLSS and you'll have a noticeably better image at the exact same framerate as native 1080p, and with no ghosting.
FSR is also a lot better than it used to be, though it's still behind DLSS.
you are a moron. DLSS 2+ at quality looks better than native at 1080 for a few reasons.
Firstly, it is using deep learning algos to resolve sub-pixel detail so you get better detail, especially at a distance.
Secondly it is replacing the native anti aliasing solution with DLAA which pretty much gets rid of aliasing in the image without blurring it like TAA would.
Thirdly, there is zero ghosting or smearing in DLSS at this point (unless you are using cherry picked videos of ray reconstruction which isnt even used unless pathtracing is enabled).
If you go down to balanced or performance, then you begin seeing the oil painting effect and everything looks smeared and weird. But at quality there is enough data for the tech to do it's job.

I was so wrong. DLSS is horrible and FSR is even worse. Returned that shit card and spent a bunch extra to get a 3080. It sucks, but I'll never play a game that needs DLSS to hit 60fps at medium settings.

I have a 7900 XTX in my desktop and a NVIDIA GPU in my laptop. My experience with DLSS is from playing on the laptop's GPU at 1080p, because that's what it's capable of. And when I do, I use DLSS Quality because it looks better than native 1080p. Please stop trying to bring fanboyism into this.

i have noticed this smearing with RR as well. I thought it was me fricking with DLSS settings in the ini that did it but it seems to be RR. Kind of annoying because otherwise RR is great for reflections and stopping that annoying light trail thing you get with normal path tracing.

I just started playing Cyberpunk 2077 with my RTX 2060. My settings? 2560x1440 resolution, DLSS set to balanced (barely any difference to native 1440p presentation), all settings set to high except goytracing off. My FPS? around 70-80fps and game looks fricking great. DLSS is unironically so fricking good and amd WISHES they could compete with it.
