like 4 or 5 but they are decently long
It's a good game game anyway outside of the endoscopy chapters, if you like medical dramas and can handle a dose of anime chances are you will love the game

i wish, but the problem is that basically any medical adventure game would require you to either have or learn in the game actual medical knowledge which is not obviously common knowledge nor fun to read about (read: medical school is hard and long)
that's why murder mysteries and sherlock holmes-style detective works are the favorite setup for deductive-reasoning based mystery-solving adventure games
otherwise its just like a medical-'themed' murder mystery game essentially where you end up solving the case not with actual medical knowledge

I think it could work if you start the game as a student. Class could have you read 4 different diseases, which have similar symptoms, then the next case is you figuring out which disease it is with a couple red herrings leading you off.

House is literally an homage to Holmes so many of the problems solved are more like logical puzzles or deductions based on environment and/or the people around the patient.
You could make a game where you are tasked to find out what the symptoms mean based on a short list (which as a concept is almost always present in the show).

        Anonymous

He is an homage to Holmes, but I'm rewatching the entire series right now, and his epiphanies are still 100% impossible for the average gamer (or doctor) to come up with. He'll quote the grinch movie, realize that some disease he diagnosed doesn't affect the large blood vessels and then pull out some autoimmune diagnosis that only 1/15.000 people gets. You can't do that stuff by logic alone.

          Anonymous

nta, but that makese sense, sort of. he doesnt merely pull it out of his ass as he takes an inoccuus phrase, simily or metaphor that somehow fits. Example "When is a bear not a bear, its a dog." is how he deduced the dwarf wasnt a dwarf, she just didnt have a growth hormone that made her look like her dwarf mother i would 100% frick.
I think you could include that in game with npcs dropping very vauge dialogue, but a case shouldnt rely completely on you using it. Would be a cool expirence if you happen to pick up on it though.

          Anonymous

That's true, but you could make it kinda multiple-choicy.
You can have a set of plausible diagnoses and get to explore possible explanations for them.

Via interactions with other people or investigatory work you can cross off some items but the last leap comes from some sort of thematic understanding of the case which gives you the ultimate answer.

greatest television show of all time, if you pretend that season 6 and beyond doesn't exist.

which is valid, because it's episodic and doesn't have, or need a plot, so I don't need to consider those seasons a part of house. kys anyone who disagrees.

Chernobyl is a close second, but it lacks the comedy of house, and the greatest television character of all time. probably has stronger themes tho, and by that, I mean it has only 1 theme and like 6 episodes or something, so not that hard to frick up.

Not enough people realize how important it is for House to be wrong at first. It is literally a theme that underpins his entire character throughout the seasons if you pay attention enough. I mean, it's not that deep, but in the context of his entire character, it's pretty important, because of how much shit people constantly throw at house for being...you know. house.

What you seek is called braincrack.

    Best craincrack media:

    >Liar Game (manga)
    >Ace Attorney, especially AAI2 (game)
    >999/VLR/ZTD (game)
    >Sherlock Holmes by Arthur Conan Doyle (book)
    >Kaiji (manga)
    >One Outs (manga)

Once you are done with these you will never find more braincrack. And that's okay. Maybe one day there will be a new one.

    Real life.

I have a super rare neuromuscular disease that only 1 in 250.000 people have. Been through dozens and dozens of specialists, no one ever managed to diagnose me.

When I was 22 I diagnosed myself through Wikipedia. Even got the DNA exam needed to confirm it, down to the exact genes the doctors had to check. They did the exam and confirmed it.

This made me realize that doctors are fricking stupid dumbasses. If a 22yo with zero medical background can diagnose his rare disease through wikipedia you are a failure for spending 50 years studying neuromuscular diseases and still being unable to do it

      Anonymous

Yeah you learn how incompetent doctors are the moment you have anyting that isn't trivial to diagnose.
I don't think doctors are stupid, but being constantly overworked and only taking 5 minutes per patient while being completely distant to what problems the patient is actually describing will make them ineffective no matter on how knowledgeable they might actually be

        Anonymous

Some of them are quite stupid. I had a doctor tell me that fasting is dangerous because it makes my brain eat itself.

          Anonymous

The brain does eat itself while fasting, but it also has a lot of redundancies. Diagnosis is really just a guessing game on the doctor's end, and the patient is generally going to have more information to work with than the doctor.

I find it easier to regulate my caloric intake by not eating. If I try to have 5 meals per day but eat little it is like torturing myself or testing my discipline pointlessly.
