What is your planned go to weapons and legs of choice?

why did they remove hover legs?
they should add MORE stuff to a sequel, not less

        Because quads can now hover

        Anonymous

Because hover legs were only added to fill in the gap left when quadrupeds turned into walkers and didn't just slide across the ground.
They were removed in AC4 onwards because ground boosting doesn't consume energy, so for all intents and purposes all types became hover legs.

Hover legs were for homosexuals and made a lot of shitty missions that almost require hover legs as it’s only gimmick. Also it fricked with the balance of quad legs as a fast grounded leg. Hover leg enjoyers deserve to die and I hope they burn in hell

I suppose, they also said something about how there will be something like 300+ parts in total for the game in some other interview. Never played an AC game before but is that a lot?

              Anonymous

It's normal for a first game.
Usually there's Armored Core #, and then a follow-up in Armored Core #: Subtitle that adds a shitton of sidegrades and new parts.
This time they're skipping straight to the subtitle, likely because they can't commit full resources to making two AC games when there's still a mountain of cash to sift through from Elden Ring.

I expect if they're gonna make another 6th gen game they'll just do it as a DLC expansion for Fires of Rubicon. Probably titled Armored Core 6: New Subtitle

I doubt we'll get multiple games per gen ever again honestly. The industry has changed with rising dev costs plus dev time. In its first ten years it existed, FromSoft made 27 games. In its next ten years they made over 30. In the past ten years they've made 8 games and AC6 will be the 9th.

I didn’t really use them outside of 4A but it sucks for people who like them. I‘m not all that broken up about it. I’ve seen a lot of people not like how 3v3 is described but I don’t see the problem? If anything it’s more mechs to shoot at and the team that shoots the most mechs wins. Yeah it would be cool to see VD’s game modes make a comeback but that was already such an extreme outlier and that game didn’t perform nearly like it should have so I can understand why Fromsoft wouldn’t dedicate resources to game modes people barely engage with. The fact we’re getting more than just regular 1v1 arena is already kind of a miracle.

Since the three damage system is back and impact is as important as damage what ya gonna do?

I'm planning grenade cannon, linear rifle/sniper rifle (maybe burst rifle but they seem kinda shit), plasma missiles, and laser rifle. Going to try and stick it on a reverse joint but will probably be too heavy. The idea is to do consistent damage with the plasma AOE/break shields, stun with the grenade and rifle, and then capitalize on damage with the rifle, laser rifle, and grenade cannon. As for extension, definitely the knock off primal armor, unless it's shit then frick extensions

is it normal for "western mech"(Battletech, Titanfall) fans to dislike anime or is it that one autist

              Anonymous

It's just him, though there is some weird divide between the two styles. Sometimes you get a western mech fan who doesn't even understand the connection between Robotech, Battletech, and Macross.

                Anonymous

I once saw him or somebody like him deny that MechWarrior was in the Battletech universe. It's bizarre because that whole Battletech lawsuit thing is why mecha got gimped in the west, nobody wanted to bring early mech shows over for.risk of getting sued by morons.

              Anonymous

It's moronic, but yes, very normal. They all have a huge chip on the shoulder over the fact that their favourite mech stuff is derived from anime to begin with.

              Anonymous

Its a meme mostly. The joke usually being people gloating over classic battletech designs being superior to gundams. Knowing full well that most early ones were licensed from animes like dougram or outright traces like the Atlas over the Scopedog.

Probably just the shazamtroons realizing they can ride off one MWgay's autism to have "just cause" since the soulslike narrative fell apart with the newest gameplay footage so they're riding off this moron doing a Dwarf Fortress leeching Rimworld thread or CDDA leeching off those other two games gimmick.

Although this is a little extreme, it does have animations for certain attacks connecting now. Like if you hit someone with the chainsaw the screen changes angle to show you ripping into them like a fighting/action game.

I wasn't allowed to record since I saw it at one of the play tests (no I didn't get a chance to play) and one of the ACs equipped with it in the mission with the giant smelter lava robot uses the chainsaw weapon and that happens when the player doesn't successfully dodge. If you do dodge the AC is stuck there for a few seconds sticking out the chain saw so they're really vulnerable. You can walk back into it by mistake and take damage but it doesn't trigger the special animation.

                Anonymous

I don’t remember who it was but there was a channel that showed like three seconds of a fight with the AC you described in that same room by accident, so I believe you. Sounds like a sick weapon.

So this is just wrong on a lot of levels. Certain weapon types do have heat buildup which uses the same indicator as the charge gauge that other weapons use. The hard lock is also composed of two pieces: Camera tracking and firing tracking. The firing tracking is slower with hard lock, meaning the reticle itself takes time to center. You typed all that up just to be proven wrong and look silly in the end. I feel sad for you. Also, you're completely incorrect about the manual aiming gimping motion, it simply turns off all other forms of targeting. Silly. Go ahead and type cope.

It's heat, dude. It uses the same UI element as charge but it builds up during fire and the weapon shuts down if it's filled. Generator parts even have a radiator built in with a cooling stat, so I guess that's just a made up useless UI element. We've seen hours of gameplay now and we've seen how the hard lock reticle works. These posts are useless, man. Nobody is going to suddenly ly agree with you or stop playing the game because you said sl*p. Not even giving you a you for that.

      >>no heat management - can continuously fire weapons that would have their components overheat from continuous fire (e.g. the autocannon of the German Puma IFV overheats after 37 continuous rounds)

You do play as the human, but with the way ACs work, pilots can NEVER leave the AC once they are a pilot, due to pilot augmentations necessary to survive the high g forces.
      >no inertia - direction of motion can be changed instantly without coming to a stop first
Yes, because the pilots are augmented to survive the high g forces of these maneuvers. Which is why pilots cannot leave their AC.
      >no turn speed - instant turns to any direction in order to maintain lock
Quick Turn has always been a thing. Also, Hard lock is optional.
      >no energy management - energy bar recovers almost instantly when legs touch the ground for but a brief moment
This really hasn't been a thing after 4/4a
      >no heat management - can continuously fire weapons that would have their components overheat from continuous fire (e.g. the autocannon of the German Puma IFV overheats after 37 continuous rounds)
This hasn't been a thing since the AC3 gen of games
      >no separate torso/arm/leg controls ensure that the manual aim is completely worthless
This is partially wrong, Quad legs and Tank treads have separated controls, you can turn your torse without rotating legs. (FOR ONLY THOSE LEG TYPES)

See above, and fast boost means this doesn't matter.
      >hardlock does not mechanically debuff accuracy regardless of what the shills were saying, it simply applies limitations on motion
The Games directors and other developers have confirmed that Hard Lock IS less accurate, and that they have balanced it for PvP. Also, Hyperfast ACs can break lock by being too fast.
      >no use of cover - gameworld consists of huge open spaces that does not emphasize blocking enemy projectiles and breaking locks by hiding behind cover

      >pvp is just two morons boostslopping in opposite directions while firing non-stop their hardlocked weapons despite the shills lying about hardlock being "useless" in pvp
Hardlock does not guarantee hits. Projectiles will be fired at a target, but will not track, unless they are missiles, and even then, just dodge.
      >pvp manual aim is an absolute joke since it gimps movement
See my first post. But Quick turn and fast boosting makes this a non-issue.

Entire salvo. Cool down isn't bad though. Like here

      >bunkered

It reloads before his combo is over and that's a 10 shot salvo.
Put two of those on and you can almost sustain missile fire. Add in the hand missile launchers for extra fun

I use an 8bitdo Pro2 mainly because I prefer the PS stick layout. I like it a lot.

Thanks. They both look good, but do you know how the D-Pads are? I'm always afraid they're going to be like the Xbox 360 D-Pads when they're one solid chunk like that. I swapped to Dualshock 4s years ago just for the D-pad.
That probably won't matter for Armored Core I guess, so I might end up using one controller for D Pad games and one for Analog focused like AC anyway.

              Anonymous

The flydigi uses clicky mechanical switches like the Xbox Series X dpad, but supposedly it's easier to hit diagonals on it than the Series X, if that matters to you. If you've never used the Series X dpad, it is phenomenal compared to the 360. Imo it's one of the best dpads I've ever used.

      5, no, absolutely not.
VD is batshit insane enough to be worth playing through the story, but the bulk of the game was the online multiplayer/clan wars aspect, which was virtually always dead in NA even when the game was new. Only JP really engaged with it at a significant-enough level to move territory on a regular basis.

      V mech, VD very yes.
V has like 8 story missions and the bonus missions more or less just get you money. Chief is a fantastic character but it's not worth it for the rest of the bullshit
VD is fricking radical though. There's missions where you fight a dozen ACs at once and it's as frantic and white knuckled as it sounds. Plus the bonus missions have their own fun lore and sub stories like killing an entire cult and family one member at a time

Then they baited us again with that Guel episode when he's on earth and it was just kinda there for cheap worldbuilding I guess? This anime did not commit to a single thing. Very much in line with the rest of what we got. The prologue and the ending feel like they're from different series. We didn't get a damn thing other than some cheap power of friendship everything works out in the end finale. There was so much filler building up the world and so many characters and they were all just loose ends. Just a failure in storytelling. I don't really care about yuri (I actually like it in moeshit but I don't want it in gundam pls and thank you) but rewatch the end of the first episode where Miorine declares to Suletta and the audience that yeah, two girls can get married, get over it. And they don't have any ceremony or anything. I guess the brass at Bandai Namco had them can it (it's for the best) but it makes what we saw feel especially pointless.

Yes. Don't update the game version otherwise it might crash on briefings. Your mech will look like it's made of Legos. After you get the story, update the version. No more Lego mech and you just skip the briefings

Yes. Update the game version. Save often. It will crash often when going into a garage so just save, restart, go into the garage.

Not him but if you just want the core Armored Core experience and you only want to play one game, play 3. 3 is basically the quintessential classic AC experience and you get pretty much everything with it. If you want to play one more game then I'd say 4A (I haven't played it but it seems to be a favorite and elements from this game are being carried over to VI when it comes to speed).

This. I think AC3 to SL is the best pair of games in the series actually.

              Armored Core 3+Silent Line

Massively agree. 3 with the save transfer to SL is fricking SICK. And ACVI seems to be calling back to 3 in some respects. The devs wore some AC3 shirts on streams too. Those two are a fan favorite.

No I don't think so. It just seems to have gone back to a pace that feels familiar to me as an AC3fella. Somebody will tell me I'm moronic but I think it looks not too disimilar from what I know and from what I've played of 4, this looks like it's sort of like bwteen 3 and 4 with some more booster action which from whhat I hear is kind of a 5 thing?

I'd also recommend 3. I'll give Nexus a shout out since it was the game FROM finally realized the PS2's control came with two analog sticks by default and using them for movement/aiming had been the industry standard for a few years.

              Anonymous

In addition to everyone saying 3, I very much enjoy and would recommend 1. If you rebind move/look to joysticks, it's a competent TPS that's aged remarkably well.

The only way to understand the armored core experience is to rent armored core 2 from Hollywood Video or Blockbuster on a Friday night in 4th grade and then go play it for the first time at a sleep over with some friends

Kinda? Melee is left arm only but you can unlock a kick and punch.
The punch is a bit curious to unlock. Not sure if you just leave the right hand slot empty or equip the be overweight+purge equipment OST chips and...purge the right arm weapon to unlock it

There is an OST upgrade that just increases your melee damage though

I think my most vivid memory as a little kid is getting actually mad at a video game for the first time in my life at one of the arena matches from one of the games.
It was a huge sudden jump in difficulty and then I read his bio and it says something like "obsessed with the number 1. has the skills to challenge rank 1 but stays at 11 because it has twice as many 1's"
I think I eventually cheesed him by basically using his same chain gun weapons on an ac with way more armor
