I can't believe the amount of people who think dredge is anything special. There are so many better indie games that came out this year. It's shit at being lovecraftian and it's a shit fishing game
Dredge was alright but it's a very first-time attempt at a largeish game that misses a lot of chances to really do something unique with it's gameplay and world. Bottom of the list is whatever, that stuff's all expected on these lists but there was way better games to take those higher spots.

The combat encounters, besides the final arena concert fight, are boring as sin.
The bosses were complete ass.
The case board is the most cancerous piece of shit infodump pace killer I've ever had the displeasure of experiencing.
They never expanded on the mechanics of the first game and sometimes regressed too gameplaywise.
And it goes on for way too long with nothing going for it besides the promise of more selfindulgent Sam Lake wanking.
As a third person horror shooter it's utterly mediocre outside of the visuals and liveaction shit. And the fricking musical was just a worst version of Ashtray Maze. I do not understand why this is rater so highly.

True at the start, but when more enemy types appeared i often found myself out of ammo as they dodged and tanked everything i threw at them. The most memorable ones are the blinking shadows in Alan's parts, those that move super fast and lunge at you for a lot of damage (in hard) yet still have a lot of health. Even wolves that are easy to kill got me by surprise a lot in dark areas.

They were a good way to test you in small areas while making you check how many resources you wanted to throw against huge health pools, moreso if you had little resources to start with. I believe some of them should have been more threatening (Scratch), but i still enjoyed them, especially Mulligan & Thornton. Those frickers killed me more than once and made me really mad.

I'd actually say it doesn't go long enough. Yes the intro drags on with a lot of nothing, but for all the wait, a mere 3 areas per character is pretty terrible. When the game really starts giving you freedom, after you finished the subway, you're already 1/3rd done with the game. That's ridiculous.
Caseboard nearly ruined the game for me, frick that garbage.
The bosses are a perfect microcosm of each problen that game has with its enemies.
Nightingale amounts to being a teleporting cuck emblematic of the dogshit enemy design in the game where they have to use the zip zoomy dashers as a crutch for every encounter.
The well cucks are a glorified resource check.
Cynthia, arguably the most interesting boss both build-up and mechanic wise, isn't actually that interesting. You trudge through water and then ammo dump her. She reminds me of the mirror taken who initially looked unnerving but were fricking pathetic to fight.
And Scratch... god fricking Scratch such wasted fricking potential that he encapsulates the utter disappointment I had on AW2's gameplay.
This isn't even mentioning the utterly moronic AAAAHHHH SAVE ME Black personMAN IS THAT A LOUD JPEG JUMPSCARE nonsense that Remedy kept spamming.
They teased the idea if animals but it only ampunted to dunb ass dogs.
They overused the shadow Black folk in the Dark Place to the point where were just annoying.
And they got rid of the hilarious posessed objects from the first game or didn't expand the dark shit beyond generic posessed "villager" enemies. This game wishes it had an encounter as memorable as the tornado.
