Peach being kidnapped or not isn't the issue for me. The issue is completely removing her femininity, her dainty proper upper lady demure mannerisms, her kindness, grace and cute charms (at least from what we've seen in the trailers so far, I am confident we will see some of it in the actual movie). Many mario games, hell as recent as Ubisoft's Mario + Rabbids, show clearly that you can have Peach be proactive and heroic like Mario and Luigi while still keeping her character. The movie's rendition has no excuse outside of blatantly not liking her character, and well, if you don't like the character then you shouldn't be handling them.
So any woman who isn't a demure timid thing isn't a woman, got it.
Not all women are the same. They can have different personalities. Yes, some women can act outside how some may shout how they should act, which today is much more stereotypically masculine. Peach isn't timid when she's heroic, but she is very demure since she's a proper upper class lady and a true Princess. Thinking a woman can't be who she truly is and has been for decades... kinda problematic, to say the least, and emblematic of that ideology that makes those claims of a much deeper rooted issue.

one of the first things we saw is a Green Yoshi Egg in Toad town. Then much later we saw a stampede of Yoshis running (a stampede that curiously had no green Yoshis). I think it's clear Yoshi will play no part, but maybe they'll reference it?
That story is always used for outside adaption material since it's the easiest for the audience. Besides Movie canon isn't game canon. The fact that Mario doesn't even fight Donkey Kong in the city, something established clearly in game canon multiple times, alone makes the two entire continuities completely irreconcilable among other things.
