>cool transformation mechanic about going "beyond your limits" through bonds of friendship
>nearly all pokemon that can use it during the main game are literally gifted to you, no strings attached, and can transform with almost no time spent together
>all the rest are locked behind post-game and some of them are borderline useless, defeating the mechanic's purpose
What's the point? Did XY really needed to be this rushed? Couldn't they have thought this through better?

They're cool.
>nearly all pokemon
Lmao
>nearly all pokemon that can use it during the main game are literally gifted to you,
Lucario, Kanto starter, and...what else?

Hold items are fine, megas started the rest so it deserves the blame
>megas started the rest
Hold items and abilities were both before megas.

Yes, megas were shit. Do we really need another thread about this?
>better?

>I don't like hold items so I don't use them
>I don't like z moves so I don't use them
>I don't like dynamax so i don't use it
>I don't like megas so I seethe on Ganker every day about them
everyone liked megas back then, it's just understood that they were fricking poorly implemented
megas were extremely controversial at the time, and generally people DIDN'T like them. you just liked them because you were a stupid kid.
>megas were extremely controversial at the time, and generally people DIDN'T like them
Straight up lying isn't a good argument.
Stop the revisionism.
Go read old gamefaqs threads. They were generally well received.
>gamefaqs is a source now
oh brother this guy stinks, here on /vp/ they were hotly debated because a lot of people thought they were a really stupid addition, in terms of design, lore, and gameplay.
When the argument is "everyone thinks that" a source that shows a bunch if people not thinking that is fine. This isn't debate club anyways, nerd.
>a bunch of people in this echo chamber thought the same thing
>actually people here, the place you're posting right now, had different opinions on the matter
>shut up this isn't debate club
People here, the place you're posting right now, had different opinions on Sun and Moon removing the national dex too. That doesn't stop morons from claiming no one cared until Sword and Shield when in actuality almost everyone on this board lost brain cells each time a release got more and more stripped from the last.
>here on /vp/ they were hotly debated because a lot of people thought they were a really stupid addition
Adding pokemon was a hotly debated topic because shitters couldn't handle Gen 5 having a different direction from the one they grew up with, that doesn't prove anything. In reality the vast majority of people viewed them as welcome additions just like the vast majority of people came to love the Gen 5 designs.
It wasn't until they became the gimmick scapegoat due to similarities Z-Moves had in gen 7 that people started to turn head against megas, but the vast majority of those people never played any games prior to Sun and Moon anyway and were brought in by GO hype.
Did this homie really paraphrase spongebob as an argument
in a cosmic sort of way, yes
Literally what the frick are you talking about
Oh? you want to use mega evolution during your XY playtrough? here's the official guide!
>mega lucario demolishes the entire game
>all of the rest are shit including the shilled kanto megas
>1 in 28
lmao
People are so bad that megas are shitmons now lmao
>megas are shitmons now
Always have been
I don't wanna larp as Korrina.
the idea of locking mega stone to the postgame is not an inherently bad idea. they're a lot more busted than sinnoh's evolutions or johto's flunkies, so withholding them until after the player has beaten the game "final" boss and the game is no longer holding back on challenge is clever game design and makes them feel special. the problem is that XY has no postgame.
this. the fact that they ARE the post game is moronic.
i wish more megas gave more pokemon an interesting, powerful spin instead of the buffs they should have gotten to their normal forms eons ago.
shit like mega pinsir is a great example of putting a new spin, mega kangaskhan is kind of in the middle here (just a pokemon but better, BUT does give it a new mechanic), then you got shit like mega medicham and mostly lucario where it's what a mega shouldn't fricking be
Game Freak should have had 50 Megas per gen be a thing but people would unironically believe that's too much work, so they only end up serving as an even bigger pedestal for shillmons to shine
