>great skill progression and agent morphing
>comfy city, not too big or small, varied enough
>ruthless ethnic cleansing campaign of ethnic gangs
>great movement, fluid and fast and fun
>fun side activities
Is it the perfect sandbox game?
nah, it's the xbot zoomer's first shitty GTA clone and was boring af to anyone with greater than lukewarm IQ
Saints Row 1 came first and it was better than GTA.
pretentious gay. I take it you also played crackdown 1 on the 360 with all the other 'zoomers'
>You play as the authorities and *crack down* on random gangs around the city to restore peace
you wish you were as cool as me
I want to replay Crackdown 1 and never got to paly Crackdown 2. Would love to play them.
Crackdown 2 was mid. If they had made the terrorists Islamic fundamentalists it would have been uberkino and 2010 was the perfect time for such a foe.
However they went down the stupid mutant surrealist generic technoterrorist saferoute.
2 was just 1 but not as good, I think really the only improvement was them adding a wingsuit
Jet boots also were dope as fuck.
Crackdown 2 was pretty bad, it’s basically the same game but with much more boring enemies.
Crackdown 1 was fun as fuck. i just checked and i think its free on xbox might give it a run this weekend
Crackdown 1 was a great game. The others are forgettable
it was cool, can you even play it now?
1 and 2 are free on the Xbox store.
Yep. XSX backwards compatibility.
>still not playable on Xenia
Fuck... I love this game and literally everything else i wanted to play from 360 like Gears games, forza horizon, ninja Gaiden 2, rdr and Crackdown 2 are playable but first Crackdown is fucking not..
I was looking into installing Xenia just for this. Thanks for the comment anon, you saved me an hour of being mad.
Yeah its literally only x360 exclusive thats still not fucking playable. Even jap shit like Blue Dragon and lost odyssey are playable now with patches they even fixed fable 2 but first Crackdown has completly fucked up lighting and audio dissapears after 2 minutes and doesnt come back.
Yeah this game was a fucking masterpiece.
Simple, amazing fun.
A shame the first one was the peak, with the 2nd be pretty good too but lacked the variety and bosses of 1.
3 was just wow they gave the fuck up didnt they
Oh yeah crackdown I remember all the good reasons to buy that game like number one: it got you access to the halo 3 beta and number two: uhhhh.....
Verticality of it was fun as fuck. I don’t think that anyone thinks of its as a modern classic, but at the time it felt like a pretty unique spin on open world game formula that doesn’t overstay its welcome.
But I can imagine that if I played it the first time today, I’d probably be a lot harsher towards it just because many games afterwards have done the same idea with giving the player superhuman agility and a city environment to scale.
>STILL no PC release of the original crackdown
is it playable on xenia yet?
Read the thread moron
i like Crackdown 3
Pretty fun except training agility and driving sucks ass
But whacky and not at all realistic or gritty..
A real video game
Nah, it gets repetitive pretty fast.
>When 2 came out think to myself why do people hate it
>Come back to it several years later
>Ok yeah, I now see why
Cell being the only human villains and the shitty day night cycle locking you out of certain actives got old fast.
>buy crackmound the last day of the halo 3 beta
>one of the absolute most fun games I ever played in my life
>climb the highest tower at level 1 everything
>kill the guy up top
>turns out that was supposed to be the final boss
>had no idea
>beat the fucking fuck out of everyone else
>still had amazing time
>keys to the city was also fun
man I had fun.
It was a fun game for what it was. A perfectly solid and actually true + deserved 7/10 game. A real 7/10 though not the hyper inflated version most number scores go by where everything below an 8 is seen as trash and really these days even an 8 is seen as garbage. Its a perfectly good 7/10 game.
For me I had a lot of fun jumping through the city getting those agility orbs or whatever they were called. The games sense of progression is actually better than most games including RPG's. It was a very simple game but it didn't need to be more than that. I would say it never truly got good sequels. It probably never needed sequels though tbh.
Crackdown truly is the best average game of all-time. Rock solid.
>Crackdown truly is the best average game of all-time.
Never thought of it but its possible. I'm actually struggling to think of any other truly average games that deserve to be seen as average but are fun enough to be seen as the best average game ever. I always enjoyed the PS2 Dynasty Warriors games which I am sure most would say are average at best if even that but I always saw them as a bit above that at least. They get repetitive sure but I loved them. Very addictive and I like them better than Crackdown for sure. I just can't put DW 4 or 5 in the same league as Crackdown they are above it.
You basically wrote what I was going to write about Crackdown being a great 7/10 game. Not every game needs to tell a great story, look wonderful or have some mindblowing gimmick, sometimes you just want to have fun with a game that simply feel good to play in straighforward sense. Games like Crackdown, Red Faction Guerrilla, Driver San Francisco, none of those are genre-defining experiences or innovate anything revolutionary (well, RFG kind of does with its demolition mechanics, or could have if other had wanted to copy it, but still), but present nice dozen (or two) hours of solid gameplay without too much extraneous bullshit.
>brother gave me his old x360
>remember playing this for a bit at his apartment
>ran around the game punching all the bosses to death
>absolute fun the whole time doing so
shame i didn't get to experience the online fun people had back then. not using guns and just dropping the bosses was and will always be top tier hilarious.
I wish Realtime Worlds didn't die.
APB should've took off and maybe we could've got a proper Crackdown 2.
