Because you are actually getting something from it. It filters out a lot of kids / cheaters. Where as with Battle.net it's just so they can ban your phone number if you scream Black person a few too many times.
>It filters out a lot of kids / cheaters.
This also applies to Overwatch 2 >they can ban your phone number if you scream Black person a few too many times.

Why can you steam shills never admit steam is just as bad as blizzard for this, you just tolerate it because steam is your uwu company
Oh well. I don't care if they have my burner number.
Ban? You mean sell your number to Pajeet telemarketers, which is what Valve does too.
There was a huge uproar over it when CSGO added it and Valve began selling the numbers to telemarketers.
>and Valve began selling the numbers to telemarketers.
Source? >My ass/I made it up
Check the CS:GO forums and filter for "Varification" and "Telemarketer". You'll find tons of posts going back when they first added it.
Just because you were too young to play CSGO when they added auths, and your favourite Twitch streamer hasn't made a 10 hour long wankfest video about it, doesn't mean it didn't happen.
>too young
I'm 32 and started playing CS:S when I was 16. I didn't play CS:GO that much because it was shit. >twitch streamer
I don't watch Twitch, lmao.

Sir, my cousin used my account and now it is banned. Now my father will come and say that I did not do it.
"Hello, this is anon's dad. I can confirm that he did not cheat and it was his cousin. Please unban him"
Getting your phone number banned doesn't matter at all when they can just ban you either way. I've been screaming Black person and gay in Dota 2 since forever and never had any trouble. You could even argue that having the phone thing is good because it makes life harder for boosters and cheaters
You can spam every slur you can think of in voice and text chat and you will never get banned for it in both CS:GO and Dota 2.
I have seen people get bans from WOW for insulting vegans, insulting blizzard or calling teamates incompetent and or stupid.

they have a way
usa people who use cricket arent allowed to play since they are cheap provider
the point is many people use "prepaid phones" cause its cheaper and more cost effective for certian people
but bliz somehow thinks it means burner phones and they are already blocking legit people from playing a fricking F2P game
if it was specifically only needed for ranked mode id be fine with that since ranked are tryhards anyways but requiring a a phone# for a game let alone a f2p one is fricking moronic
>Create new troony.net account >use fake number generator from this site https://receive-smss.com/ can even receive SMS for verification >Spit on trash can troons all you want >Eventually get banned >Create new troony.net account, do it all over again
if anything making the game free OPENED the floodgates for harassment
when are they going to give this positive community experience bullshit a rest? Gaming should be toxic and exclusive, weak people should be bullied to suicide.
I never added a mobile authenticator to my steam account, because I din't want to deal with the 15 day trade ban, so I kept putting off and saying "i'll do it later", but then one day I go to my computer and for some reason, I'm logged out. I try to log back in but someone changed my password and removed my email. I contact steam support to get it back, but they said they need the original CD key the account was created with to give it back to me, which I don't have anymore, so now my account is permenantly gone.
Don't be a reatrd like me, add two step authentication. "later" might never come.
Something similar happened to me except I got my account back, but yeah. Any account that is important to you or has value should have 2FA enabled. The way chinese and indian homies hack now a days it's a necessity.
>Have 2 step >Change phone number/address, forget about the Steam account >Cant authenticate >Locked out of account >Have to go through lengthy process including sending Valve a photo ID to establish identity.
You are fricked however you slice it. I ended up getting my account back but these "features" they add for your protection can easily frick you over.
In my case I was fricked over because Im a working professional with a lot going on and I forgot.
>friend is a semi big streamer big enough to do it full time and live comfortably >asks me why I never chat in his chat >tell him it requires being verified on twitch using my phone number >ask me why I won't just add my number >I ask him why twitch needs my fricking number >he agrees its dumb
yeah I added a phone number ... my bro's number on dial, that is, to tell him I pirated the game instead
Game?
Overwatch 2
all of them
>it's ok if steam does it

chink, actually

You can still play unranked without it in that case.
The difference with Steam is that you gain more than access to playing the game. You gain a "trust" ranked mode.
WTF. You've never needed a phone number for 2FA. Blizzard would send an authenticator for you to use.
>Pirating this shit in the first play
TF2 here, I've come to laugh at Goywatch shills.
It's bad when both Valve and Blizzard do it.
Happy now?
i dont play dotard either, queer.
Ganker is a Valve dick sucking board so they will ignore this and tell you that they dont play DOAT or CSGO
they had my burner number 10 years ago from the battle.net 2 party auth or whatever
I already had my phone number in the system for the 2FA security, so I didn't have to do anything else. Don't see what the big deal is about it.
2FA texting is actually insecure as frick. You need to get an authenticator app.
There's really nothing that wrong about using your phone for authentication, but there's plenty wrong with playing Blizzard shit
its has nothing to do with authenticating or an account protection with dealing with being hacked issue
its so they can permanently ban you
and when they use ai to decide if they heard "bad thing" when you never said bad thing your fricked
they also arent allowing people with prepaid phones, meaning people who use time cards are fricked, only expensive locked in contracted phones allowed
>they also arent allowing people with prepaid phones
How exactly do they check that?
they have a way

Damn, I guess that means no blizzard games for me then. That sucks.
You can't stop me
>they use your info to sell it to 3rd party, meaning you will get tons of ads-sms
>b-b-but it's a free game
i use my phone number as 2FA for a bunch of games and services including blizzard for years and never once received any spam calls or texts
>Create new troony.net account
>use fake number generator from this site https://receive-smss.com/ can even receive SMS for verification
>Spit on trash can troons all you want

what site is that wtf
>They ban the numbers from this site
Nothing personal, Smurf.
Literally impossible, in fact, this is what CS:GO subhumans use to bypass Valve's homosexualry too
I will not play overwatch 2, regardless of phone numbers or voice chat rules.
Game looks frickin gay for homosexuals
tried adding your mom's, but it's already used
I, for one ,can't wait to go phishing for underage players phone numbers.
Nah, when I see that stuff I uninstall.
good morning sirs
If moronic drug dealers can use prepaid burners, I'm sure you computer savvy gamers can figure out how to get another phone number.
the issue is having to pay $20 every time you want to authorize a new game
This, I don't mind buying burners. I do that regularly anyway. But I don't want to have to purchase one for every fricking game. That's just too much
They specifically call out no prepaid phones
Does it accept burner phones?
You WILL have phones
homie, I deleted my account years ago.

>oooh but what if this other bad thing happens
you're right, i just leave my password as 1234 and leave the rest to God
literally every 2FA system gives you recovery codes your larping homosexual
>friend is a semi big streamer big enough to do it full time and live comfortably

he probably thought you were being a dick or severely autistic if this is a true story and he didn't want to tell you anon.
I don't know what website that is.
