Autists will defend it, but that's the truth.
DND combat was designed for slow-paced encounters which take up to dozens of minutes to hours to resolve during a real tabletop session.
The mechanics simply do not work properly in a real-time combat of CRPGs because the player is going from a combat encounters to more combat encounters in span of dozens of seconds to a minutes.
This can be observed with abilities/spells that reset on daily basis, which make (more) sense for tabletop, or the need to reapply many buffs before every single encounter.
At the end of the day, it somehow works, but it clearly isn't the ideal design which has many drawbacks.
It doesn't need to be fun for everyone. But it has it's fans that want it. Also it frankly needs to exist.
That's the fallacy of "modern" games and why they started sucking. They try to appeal to a wider, or rather, the widest audience. Forgoing niches in favour or trying to get as much retards to buy the game as possible.
In the past a game could and frequently was, literally, unironically, "Not for me".
But now that phrase has become worthless paraphrasing for "Internally I seethe with disdain, but I don't wanna hurt the devs feelings".
So now, we have no real cultural replacement for that phrase and too many people used to being treated like dumbasses. So they complain when the target audience isn't dumbasses.
Having combat system which forces you to perpetually reapply +10 buffs before nearly every fight or camp several times in a span of one gaming session is just busywork.
There's nothing intrinsically fun about either of these activities and other things that make the combat a slog. They are not what makes the game or combat fun.

I play 100% TB, and yes, my playtime is above 700h (right now Act 5 in my second playthrough) and I wouldn't have it any other way. Why would I want to spend less time with things I enjoy? Turn based is borderline unplayable because of HOW Owlcat implemented it. There's a 4 second delay when you first start a combat encounter, and then a 1-2 second delay, everytime the system moves to the next character's turn.
You can speed this up by mashing the spacebar, but the battle will still move at a fucking snail's pace.

Haven't played it yet.
People hated Inevitable Excess, I didn't think it was that bad but its plot was obviously an excuse to have a DLC where you could spend the whole time at level 20 and ML 10, and didn't have much weight. Some of the combat is kind of aids too, having any random enemy attack able to confuse your party members was frustrating.
Through the Ashes is mixed, if you wanted to do more low level campaigns you'll like it. It's probably more like a regular tabletop campaign than most D&D games, you're supposed to consider avoiding combat and using the environment to your advantage.
Treasure of the Midnight Isles is also mixed but mostly positive, the main complaint is that it can get old. It's not randomly generating maps like Diablo, it just has a bunch of versions of a couple map themes and you have to do a lot of them to get to the end so it can start to drag. On the other hand if you hated the campaign companions you can play this standalone with a party of mercs, so no talking and all custom builds. That's the part I like, since you reset a few times you can give a merc a class archetype you thought looked fun but might be bad and if it turns out to be bad you're only stuck with it until you can afford a 6th merc.
man i'd love to play random dungeons in pathfinder all, day if they're good. something that annoys me with these kinds of games is that you always reach max level just before the game ends so you dont have much time to enjoy your characters at their full power.

I enjoy learning new systems and figuring stuff out. im sure lots of people will just slam easy mode (then complain) or look up step by step guides (then complain) but thats not for me. I could probably handle playing one more"pathfinder" type game but would be just fine with a new system to learn. Hyped for rouge trader even though I prefer fantasy.

You basically have to figure some shit out, forced to do some crusade research, get a book of bullshit, find the other part of book of bullshit, get the purple crystal knife, don't give away the purple crystal knife, be nice to Suture, save him from slaves... some other shit to gain Areelu's approval, then figure out that midnight bolts on demon lords make them bleed crystals that can be used for the final ending.
Like there's a lot to it that is all stupid and senseless.
It's hinted at ingame, you're given the date from a late choice, it's not something you're expected to figure out your first time playing though, he's wrong about shooting Deskari though, it helps but it's not needed

If you save crusaders they join you in the attack and will cast on you haste spell that will last for like an hour

I could swear that they didn't mention anything like that in the journal for that library quest. Also the demon attack quest entry was really vague like "Be prepared, Demons could attack anytime". There is literally no connection between these 2 quests and yet if you visit the library after the attack you get cucked.
Anon, Anevia literally pulls you to the side before you start your adventure and says "Hurry. We must move before the demons make their move." If you get the tavern assault, then that means you fucked up.
Tavern Assault = failed states for all of the timed quests of Act 1

wrath of the righteous is close to being fun, but the way scaling and balance works in it is just devolves into rocket tag.
Pathfinder games in particular are annoying gameplay wise. Much as I enjoyed both for their stories and RPG value the combat is just "stack buffs to make huge numbers on the left side so it is > than the right side".

Pillars of Eternity did a great job of building mechanics that work super smoothly in vidya form while still maintaining that classic crpg feel. Although the fact that there are no dump stats is kinda annoying.

There's still plenty of broken builds you can do, they just take work to get them to come online rather than just breaking the game at level 4.
For example, if you stack everything, it's possible to boost your Power Level for Fire spells to a point where you're casting as if you were a level 36 Wizard. Your Fireball turns into a nuclear strike.
there are absolutely dump stats because each save (fort, reflext, will) is influenced by more than one stat. you can dump intellect and still have a good will save if you pump resolve.

Power word kill is designed to immediately kill enemies that have really high resistances and AC. You know, the kinda shit you might be periodically fighting around level 16 and you're otherwise just chipping their health away. With PWK you and the enemy knows that as soon as it falls low enough, it's fucking dead. Combat no longer wears on with the baiting game, it's a panicked rush for your target to not drop low enough to get headshot by a single spell
if i got an enemy to 200, then i don't need pwk, i'll drop him in 1 round anyway. It's a worthless spell
In the tabletop game this was based off, you probably didn't have so much overpowered shit everywhere boosting your stats so much. So no you absolutely wouldn't be dropping some enemies in one round, you can blame the game for being stats bloated shitfest for destroying what could otherwise have been a powerful spell. Things like a succubus just hovering above you while she shoots you isn't represented in the game despite them having wings and the ability to fly. Demons casting invisibility to escape combat or using protection spells or fear to cause you to run away, none of this is represented. That's when PWK comes in to play, you get a bad guy in to a position where he starts dumping all his abilities to flee and suddenly you utter a word of power that causes his brain to explode.

It will never "work" on Nenio because she already has Spell Focus: Illusion. If you want an Illusion build to work, then you need to take Expanded Arsenal: Illusion and Spell Focus in every class EXCEPT for Illusion. Because if you take Spell Focus: Illusion, then the Expanded Arsenal exploit (how people get 50-80 DC on their spells) won't work.
Thus only a mercenary or player character caster can make a good Illusion caster.
For Nenio, you actually want to make her an enchanter. As a Kitsune, she already gets a bonus to enchantment spells, and she can pick up Expanded Arsenal: Illusion.

for me it's Azata sorcerer(merged) with Zappy magic, Favorable magic with one extra bloodline for huge damage with Fireballs & hellfire rays and phantasmal killer

Any mythic will work decently (even trickster has a build that works, and it's the worst for arcane casters), but Azata and Demon are the one with immediate results.
There are more things you can try to do (dip into crossblooded socerer, dip into elemental wizard to convert to a different element , like lightning so you can also use chain lightning well, etc).
Then you pick other good mythic feats and abilities and standard feats, like improved initiative, abundant casting, last stand etc

You can pick more than 1 spell early on, you know. by the time you hit the maze, you are lv 2.
Snowball ignores Spell resistance, targets touch ac and few enemies resist it. Good chocie alongside grease.
And scorching ray is also an easy damage choice against anything that is not Babau.
Any damage caster picks decent buffs and basic CCs, I am not going through every fucking spell choice each level.

Early on touch AC damage that ignores SR is not useless, especially in harder difficulties. And it outscales Magic missile for a while
The retard-proof build is a kineticist with fire-fire. Just take the elemental rays that don't have any physical damage so they are touch attacks. Then add whatever kineticist infusions you want, it's all self-contained in kineticist so you don't need to worry about getting the right metamagic feats.
How the hell do you know what can be dispelled? The enemy stat sheet has what LOOKS like character abilities like spellstrike alongside buffs like barkskin.
a) You roughly know what counst as buff and ability from the way you interact with teh system and buff characters
b)You throw a greater dispell and strip what you can., its not like you can pick
Just remember that 'permanent' refers to the buffs not running out f time for enemies.

Technically, with the items that give free spells to spontaneous casters and loremaster, you could make Daeran any damage caster you want, but feasibly, you go for fire or lightning since you get the items at chapter 3.
I once made him into an ice caster (elemental wizard dip plus boreal ring) so I can utilize the relic shield that adds +1 per die to cold spells

Why were the endings slides so shit in this game? In Kingmaker you rule as King of a newly prosperous kingdom with your Queen by your side, it even mentions a huge royal wedding. It was a great bookend to a journey. In Wrath it feels like they were going out of there way to write unsatisfying endings. Even the half elf slut in Kingmaker got a nice ending. I think punishing the Arue we meet in the game for the crime of the former Arue makes no sense. Despite the Arue retaining memories and experiences of her former self, the difference between them is so large that one can claim the Arue she's a different person.
Granted, Arue's case is a lot hazier and complicated, but because of how succubi and lore work in Pathfinder and by having a tangible evidence Desna was involved in her rehabilitation, punishing her is pointless as you'd not be actually punishing the person guilty of the crime or one that would commit the crime in the first place.
