i know from a quality point of view it's all bullshittery and esotherics when it comes to people claiming vinyl is superior to cd but there is just something special about putting on vinyl. it gets you in the mood to focus on the music.
Actual answer is that it's essentially lost technology. It would cost billions to develop the infrastructure necessary to manufacture them again and in the end the result would be shitty anyway.
Because OLEDs are simply better now, and companies like LG and TCL are creating nanotechnology to make oled even better, at this point, buying a CRT would be worse than buying a 2021 QLED.
>low scale of production (jumpstarting an industry takes a lot of time and investment) >shipping weight >muh leaded glass >brittle glass
We need SED and FED
There are acrylic vacuum chambers, but not sure if a tube shaped one would survive. Also there's the heat on the electron beam itself i don't know if would work
But i imagine its a fun project for someone with a lot of spare time in hands.
I wouldn't be surprised if there are some small hobbyist-centered companies that will start producing new CRT-like phosphor screen displays in the next ten years, but it'll never be a big thing again.
Based brother. I was on 5120x1440 and returned it because I didn't like the VA panel. Currently using 3440x1440 for 2 weeks and already I want to go wider again. At the very least, I can never go back to 16:9
funny, I prefer 4:3 for games. Looks much better than wide screen. Even if the game has a wide screen option the 4:3 looks so much better. I'm saying this unironically
Fair enough. I preferred and felt the benefit of the super wide format for work, but it was very nice to have the screen cover my whole left-to-right peripheral for gaming. 16:9 feels too thin/cutoff and 4:3 would feel even worse. Although saying that, I still play games with black bars on the side and have 0 issue with them lol

that's not a CRT anon, it's a filter. I do play that shit, IT'S FRICKING AMAZING!!! Nothing is as boring as modern games because they are coded object oriented. The most exaggerated example of that are ubisoft games. But I notice it in EVERY modern 3D game. Each enemy is a copy of the last enemy. Everything in the game is a copy of everything else. It's all so tiresome, bland and boring. You've seen one level of a modern game you seen them all. Classic games were not coded object oriented. Every enemy has it's own code. Each level can function very different. Setting up a new idea is the same work as using an old one unlike in fricking abysmal object oriented code. Frick your modern games. Eat shit, you deserve it
Based. Modern gaming really is cancer, but I can't blame the zoomers for not knowing better, the early 3D era is almost unplayably ugly now and they're too moronic to run old pixelshit, which as you've shown looks like garbage without at least some kind of CRT filter.
funny, I prefer 4:3 for games. Looks much better than wide screen. Even if the game has a wide screen option the 4:3 looks so much better. I'm saying this unironically
I'm not sure what you consider 'fake' but the pixelated crap absolutely has fricked up color mapping. I tried s-curving and color shifting it to something similar on the right, but it's still not quite the same thing.
What do you mean by 'weird ass gamma ramps'? I know CRT:s had 'natural' gamma of about 2, and modern monitors are about the same for different reasons, but is this something different?
I don't think it's a CRT thing specifically, but that some arcades probably skimp on analog circuitry for the CRT driving, and that ends up with a weird gamma ramp they compensate via software.
Contra arcade is a good example.

Arcade games were meant to be 'flashy' as in the screen was supposed to flash brightly a lot. It does this to be eye-catching. The graphics were designed the same way.
I know my screenshots end up being dark because I have to turn off HDR. If you screenshot stuff with it on, it's bright and washed out like picrel. When I turn it off, I never like the brightness level.
>buy brand new GPU and CPU >also buy 4k screen for the same price as the previous two because DOOD GET WITH THE TIMES >all your games now run and look worse than before

Holy mother of zoomer.
This stupid zoomer shit reminds me of that one horror game where you're in a late 90s arena shooter, and the happenings of the game are filmed on a VHS
VHS in like 1999.............
I replaced all my vhs tapes with dvd in early 1997. Not to mention vhs tapes looked perfectly fine and never had any of those stupid artifacting and CA that people use in these dumb games. It only looked like that if your vhs player AND the tape was completely broken and about to die and no longer work.

The main problem with VHS was the shit color encoding.
Way too fricking blurry
All these screenshots and clips were made using filters. I'm serious
I actually had a 32 inch CRT growing up that I played my Sega Genesis, N64 and Dreamcast with and it did not do that fricking moronic shimmering effect what the frick, is this what zoomers trying to fit in think CRT was like? Am I being baited? Did you have a broken TV growing up? Legitimately boggles the mind. There's a reason people prefer CRT and it's not that stupid shit because that wasn't a thing outside of dying TVs, and I question if even dying TVs had that exact effect.
It's "jaggies" from the post processing on the filter. I've tried removing it by using much higher resolution like 8k but then you get broken scanlines and the filter starts to look like garbage.
>I question if even dying TVs had that exact effect.
My dying tv literally had one of the RGB colours disappear, I had to smack the tv to get the colour back. After a while smacking it would make another colour disappear until it just stopped working. I got an lcd after that.
>zoomers grew up with crts
I doubt that's true for most. Everyone couldn't wait to dump their CRTs for LCDs. Probably only the poorgay zoomers remember CRTs.
the CRT vs Clear Pixel stuff has NOTHING to do with 1080p vs 4K. 1080p is not a filter - its just less pixels. More pixels are good to have a clearer image. CRT was needed to fake the illusion of a detailed picture but through a blurry filter. Today we can have ACTUAL clear images

Also, no. I play 1080p 144hz.

Yeah, but I don't really need more.
And yes, I've seen plenty of panels of all sizes, resolutions and refresh rates.

I haven't had an issue getting 4k to work. In MOST games, it works without a hitch. In some older shit, I may have to edit a .ini or something. And in very few cases, I have to force the app to use its own DPI scaling (because I have everything scaled by 300% in Windows).
Is it just me or is OLED really fricking good for pixelated retro-games with CRT filters? I've been in awe at the beauty of emulating SNES games but maybe my old screen was just that bad.

Of any game of your choice with your monitor's resolution, not downscaled. I am sincerely interested in how much detail that kind of res has to offer.
I was bringing it up before, but have you tried Mordhau or Chivalry? They're first person melee games that have peripheral view management as a focus of the genre. I've heard wild ultrawide resolutions like that is basically cheating, but I never really saw any real gameplay of it by someone halfway competent.

Even on larger monitors (like mine I posted), UI scaling is useful if you don't need all that real estate. YMMV, but I like 300%. Games themselves don't use said scaling, and that's my main purpose of 4k.
Half-Life's UI is scaled for 640x480. I wouldn't say that it was "made right" if you need to tweak shit by yourself.
I didn't play far enough to see the UI (as that shows up after you get the HEV suit), so that may be an issue, but the actual game runs fine and the res is selectable natively. I was referring to games that lock you in to shitty resolutions.
of a moron that would use 100% scaling
I mean, that's what you're doing. You're getting 4x resolution output and then you're running that at 400%. It's just an incredibly inefficient way to run 100% scaling on your tiny monitor while also letting everyone get a good laugh at your expense.
I can understand the potential benefits of DSR/VSR in games. But in windows? Jesus man, you're one real fricking moron.
It looks like ass, even on a 55" monitor. Sorry. I just don't need that real estate for browsing Ganker or reading my mail.

UI scaling is a mark of a moron. If you didn't need the real estate, why did you buy 4k? Could've saved yourself some money and just bought a 1080p screen.
>Games themselves don't use said scaling, and that's my main purpose of 4k.
Here's the point where you hit pure placebo effect. Let me guess, you buy 4k BDs? You seem like the kind of utter moron who can't conduct basic A/B testing, which is why you scammed yourself with a monitor you didn't need.
Ironically, VSR/DSR would be great for you. It would've given you exactly what you wanted, and you could've had a higher spec 1080p monitor for half the price.

https://screenshotcomparison.com/comparison/30791
Here's an image I made the other week. The first is the 4k BD scan. The second is that scan downscaled to 1080p, then upscaled back to 4k.
There's not 4x of difference between these 2 images. Hell, there's not even 5% of a difference between them. VSR/DSR would've suited you perfectly, because you don't understand anything about the visual cortex, or how many points of light are "enough". This isn't a one off example, either. Any video, any game screenshot, it's all the same. At best, you will see a slight improvement in text. Anything else? 4k doesn't matter.
4k is about space. It's not about fidelity, because fidelity was already achieved with 1080p.

I can tell the difference between 1080p and 2160p, especially at the size of the monitor I'm on. It's not a placebo. It's going to scale on my monitor regardless. If I use some monitor made for ants, I'm sure I won't notice, but I'll see the difference in game. The point of the scale was to do a side by side. If you look at a 1080p jpeg and it's smaller than the 4k one, you'd be like "it looks the same!!!!!!1!1!1oneonetwo" But seeing them the same size (which I would on my monitor), you see the differences.

I mean, that's what you're doing. You're getting 4x resolution output and then you're running that at 400%. It's just an incredibly inefficient way to run 100% scaling on your tiny monitor while also letting everyone get a good laugh at your expense.

oh no... >turns on SMAA and sharpening >now the game looks as good as 4k with a 10th of the rendering cost
so higher resolutions really are a meme, huh?
Fun fact: You don't really need a 4k monitor to get a lot of its game graphics improvements. Rendering the game at 4K or even 8K then downscaling to your 1080p does wonders too. Arguably it is the conclusive way of doing anti-aliasing, short of actually buying a 4K screen.
Anonymous
That is to say, to get the improvements seen in
Don't have any of those.
I did a Hitman Webm long ago that showed 8K.
the easiest way you can try out teh wider resolutions is to create a custom res, or simply run in window and drag those windows to ultrawide ratios.
[...] >Always funny hearing morons who don't understand anything talking.
Ironic.
Since you don't know what PPI is.
Or do you hate that 5-6 inch phones aren't all 360-480p?
, all you have to do is to render the game at 4K and downscale to 1080p. Driver settings allow this. No need for a 4K monitor.
If you bought a really nice GPU but ran out of money to but a screen that is 4K *and* nice (super expensive), this is the way to go.
>Or do you enjoy seeing pixels?
Always funny hearing morons who don't understand anything talking. Enjoy your 1440p garbage, buddy. I guess for a screen that small 1440p is alright.
Yes I do, though sometimes I wish I had chosen 1440 or something. I dunno. As a screenshot gay, filesizes for the thousands of screenshots I take eventually become a b***h and as much as I like seeing more detail, I do like having a consistent framerate which becomes an issue in more modern games. I don't have problems in like Hunt Showdown at 4k, but games that necessitate high framerate like Mordhau and Chiv2 definitely suffer because of my resolution choice and not going fullscreen borderless so I can downscale it to 1440 really, really fricking sucks.
It is not the best game I ever played but for my purposes of taking pretty screenshots it's pretty decent. I know there's Skyrim which I grew a taste for, but I don't want to put in all the effort to upgrade to Special Edition from Legendary, even though I can run it at 4k60 with my ENB of choice on (graphics card lifespan considered, I probably shouldn't). Plus, Skyrim doesn't have individual bone posing on characters ingame, I'd have to make a mod to have the poses I want; frick that. At the same time, frick paying a sub. At this point I may as well just download a shitload of blender scenes and start rendering.

That's because it's some homosexual trying way too hard to make it look like his idea of what old TVs were like, which is obviously overdramatic bullshit
LCD, no matter what resolution, will never be able to replace or reproduce the look of a CRT accurately because they are different display technologies.
No amount of filters, scan lines, or effects can display it like the native tech can.
You know what, with how games are currently going, it's still just as useful to have a CRT as it was ten years ago. I wouldn't play a game made in the past fifteen or so years on a CRT but then again, would you want to? Just so long as you have a modern monitor with a modern resolution for browsing and productivity and playing whatever modern games interest you, having a CRT if you have a taste for classics is fine.
I'm just thinking of those arcade cabinet things theyve been selling for a few years. Without the CRT they are essentially overpriced emulator boxes running a really bad LCD.
>Do you play on 4k, right v?
No. Because getting used to higher resolutions and framerates = need to upgrade more often if I want to play latest vidya without it seeming shit. I will stay at 60fps and 1080p for the forseeable future.
>text rendering
Do you zoomers just not use computers or something? I have never, at no point, EVER, in my life thought "man, this text looks too pixelly". It just doesn't fricking happen. The value of 4k is more SPACE. I can tile windows all day.
>Like just get a load of [...] (You). Look at this fricking moron, using a 4k screen with max scaling so he's only getting a glorified 1080p panel at best.
It doesn't matter on the desktop. No scaling in picrel.
>>It doesn't matter on the desktop.
The fact you're using scaling is what matters. It means you're sitting too far away from the screen, which means you're wasting it. You have paid a lot of money for a 1080p monitor you can sit further away from, I'm sorry you're this moronic.
I'm about 4-5' away. It allows me to lean back but still benefit from the immersion of the curve. And like I said, the scaling only applies to the desktop. Gaming is fricking purty at 4k with HDR.
Oh I'm not saying it looks bad or anything. But it is noticeably better. Know what I mean? Pull your phone out and compare your text. Way crispier. That can be nice for eyestrain when you spend 8 hours a day on a computer.
4k has incredible usability for productive programs. At 1080p, programs and folders can get really cluttered. If you do any sort of modding, asset creation, or creative aspect for games, 4k is a life changer. I wouldn't even recommend replacing your 1080p, just have a second 4k monitor.

Every game with a resolution slider, or resolution setting.
Half-Life 1 have native 2160p because it simply renders at the resolution you set it to run at.
Open Half-life on a UHD TV and the resolution 3840x2160 will show up.

i dont get the point of 4k unless it's a tv or a really large monitor.
If it's a monitor you're way too close to notice pixels.
If you can your tiny desk should be the first thing you replace.
Yes of course, 4K oled looks incredible
Feed it native 4K or 1080p integer or 240p with CRT shaders, it looks good no matter what, and isn't blurry no matter what.
Peak gaming tbh
lads, is it worth getting a 1440p monitor if i'm gonna use it both for gaming and work? i don't need a 2nd monitor and i really dislike my 1080p VA monitor so i want to get rid of it.
We'll take 4.5 feet, then. This gives you a PPD of 80. Given standard PPD is 60, this means the equivalent of a 1/3rd reduction. In order to simulate this, we'll resize down to 3200x1800 and then back to 4k.
This is what your 4k actually looks like to you, assuming 20/20 vision.
I wear contacts, so you assume right. Still looks better.

>Still looks better.
I mean, it doesn't. It physically can't, it's non-integer scaling so it looks terrible. Here's the 1080p version, 60 PPD adjusted for correct comparison.
4K is for losers Now 64K, and using a microscope to see enemies further and shoot them with an AWP at a 10 KM distance, now that's real gameplay. I don't enjoy my games if I can't see the mites walking on people's faces anyway.
lmao it goes both ways on this moronic board
no matter what resolution or refresh rate you are on, or what tech your display is, you're a boogeyman to -someone- here
As far i know, the PS5 does super sampling when on a 1080p display.
You are technically speaking running the games at whatever the frick it does to pretend its 4k, except using it to generate true anti aliasing.
Do zoomers not understand the concept of windows or something?
Work/media consumption screen, social media bullshit screen
If only it were possible to tile windows. Sadly, if you have one screen you're forced to always use it full screen on a single program or Bill Gates will eat your soul.
This would use 4times as much as computer resources. I would rather hav ethose resources used on textures, reflections, smoke and particles, lightning, number of enemies, view distance...
Visibility is already satisfying in 1080p with good anti aliasing and a tidbit of sharpness filter. I don't care to see incredibly small thing or things that are are 10 km away from me. And even if I did, there is better use for these resources. Also they would need to make a monitor the same size as a 1080p one, like 22 inches. Increases the number of pixels, and increasing the size of the screen , does not actually make the picture look better; unless you step back away from your desktop (impossible for a PC player). It'll just make the monitor bigger and take all your field of view(which is bad for your eyes/brain anyway). And you would need to do a lot of rapid eye movement to look on the sides/upwards which would increase eye strain.
But of course people who shill these technologies barely think about that because they only care about a gimmick to make more money. These things are never sustainable though, and will flop just like VR did, or the billion of other bullshit. Only good stuff stays in the long run, not specific weird and costly shit.
>monitor is bigger >eye strain >more resources for little return >just use DLSS
sure buddy, link me those sweet affordable 4k 22 inches monitors then we ll move on to the rest of your bullshit
>It'll just make the monitor bigger and take all your field of view(which is bad for your eyes/brain anyway).
Yeah, I constantly hear about people using VR with 110 degrees of FOV having their brains explode and shit. Make sure not to buy a monitor over 20 inches if you want to make it to your 50s.
something being bad for you doesn't necessarily mean that it makes your brain explode flaming midwit moron. Yes VR is bad and you will only know once many people use it for decades. But you wouldn't have 10% of the general knowledge required to even have an idea of why it would be hypothetically true. Why do you play in front of a large TV on your desk, I'm sure It won't do any harm to you flaming moron. Life advice ignorant frick, don't assume anything you don't understand is necessarily wrong, especially when you're an ignorant frick
Imagine thinking that "using" your FOV is going to damage you.
Buddy, I hate to break this to you, but you're using it right now. All of it. Unless you're wearing horse blinders, I guess. Are you wearing horse blinders? Are you that terrified of the FOV demons stealing your soul?
Go on, tell me how using your eyes is going to break them.
eye muscles strains from rapid eye movement on long periods of time (playing FPSes...), you need the background around your screen in terms both of luminosity and depth so you look at other things that your screen, even looking at a monitor will frick your eyes and make you temporarily myopic but a huge monitor, or even more VR will frick you harder
and further than that VR and 3D if used commonly like zuckerberg would love to, would probably frick with your spatial recognition since you would have trouble making the difference (the body has trouble making the difference and the fact that people have motion sickness with VR is a testament of it), imaghine people playing games/browsing 12 hours a day, now that but with VR
>get a 4K monitor >it's a larger panel so it's the same PPI as HD >scale the output so the text and icons are the same size because you don't have microscopic vision >continue to view HD content
>"There's so much more room!" (Not true) >"It's so much more detailed!" (Not true) >"I didn't waste my money!" (Not true)
i mean yeah if you're using composite cables on a game designed to use them as, essentially, a post processing technique sure it'll look better as intended
this could be emulated digitally but we live in a failed society that can't understand cause and effect
I usually don't. I do the majority of my PC gaming at my desk in front of my 1440p monitor, so 4K is out of the question.
Sometimes I'll play games in 4K on my TV, but I can't really run anything released after maybe 2015 at anything more than 60 fps that way and generally prefer higher framerates.
I understand WHY it's superior, what I fail to understand is how it's useful for me. Even on things that support 4K I can't tell a difference. There is no reason for me to want anything above 1080p 60fps.
>have a shitty 2GB card >play all the games I like without too much trouble >don't miss out on any ultra HD or current-year AAA shit because I don't care about them anyway >anything reasonably demanding I can just keep on low >be happy
The only thing I find good is 4K and if it has a large panel, as a TV
I don't see the point of having such a large resolution on such a small panel
Unless of course you like the approach Apple had with their "Retina Display" thingy
Why are CRT filters so uncommon? let alone proper CRT and not just adding shitty black lines
afaik the only way to get a decent filter on games is with reshade and no one ever talks about it
Yes they do, you're probably not looking in the right places.
Retroarch has a lot of excellent CRT filters that works even better than reshade
Although for both RA and reshade, the only CRT filter you need is Guest Advanced
Foolish, they traded frames for sharpness. Its all a trade right now, we're trapped in the 720p era until prices fall and you can go full 4k 144 on a big screen. We're getting rebooted copes from a whole new generation of 720p is fine for me, especially with valve creating a new legion of pitiful fanbois who have to pretend 720p wasnt a laughing stock when pc v consoles was a thing.

>The resurgence in vinyl records continued for the 15th consecutive year, as revenues grew 61% to $1.0 billion in 2021. The last time vinyl records exceeded $1 billion was 1986.
strange. how can there be a 61% year to year increase in sales if it never dipped?

saying they're dead is hyperbole, meaning that theyre performing extremely poorly, but not actually dead, because theyre not alive in the first place.
you cant specify that something is 100%/completely dead and then say it was hyperbolic, especially in a conversation where another technology (tape) actually is COMPLETELY dead
you are literally projecting your autism and lack of social understanding lmao

We need SED and FED
It's possible to create an CRT tube with something else like acryllic?
can you make acrylic in that shape that holds vacuum?
There are acrylic vacuum chambers, but not sure if a tube shaped one would survive. Also there's the heat on the electron beam itself i don't know if would work
But i imagine its a fun project for someone with a lot of spare time in hands.
SED's dead baby, SED's dead.
More expensive to make and distribute also OLEDs have planned obsolescence in mind.
I wouldn't be surprised if there are some small hobbyist-centered companies that will start producing new CRT-like phosphor screen displays in the next ten years, but it'll never be a big thing again.
MicroLEDs when?
No because high consistent framerate is more important to me.
No because mmo games have worst optimization ever and they run like shit at 4k while hogging 100% of 3080

Although saying that, I still play games with black bars on the side and have 0 issue with them lol

>cant' hook it up to the pc no matter what I do
Frick this shit. I'm so close. I can't end it like that.
All these screenshots and clips were made using filters. I'm serious
What filter is that?
the one where you can't let go of your childhood
Royale with some ugly warp effect.
retro arch, modified pixie. Looks better at 60fps, but I can record only at 30fps:

I swore this shit off after I learned how awful it has been for emulator development writ large. It's a shame because I love how shaders are integrated into it. I've not tried to get reshade working on other emulators yet.
Shaders are the only thing a reasonable person would find useful about that dumpster fire.
Just use a LCD you pretentious larping zoomer
Get a cheap HDMI to composite adapter.
I got literally the cheapest shit on the market, the pic related, and it can even do super resolution bullshit somehow
I have a scart version of this shit but pc doesn't register it as a monitor and doesn't output any signal when you attach it.
So somehow representing the same color inaccurately is better?
Yes.
Left is better, less blurry
>images you can hear
That image was glorious seeing it as a little kids on a real CRT.
CRTs have a real glow that modern displays simply don't have.
It also had a hum which I do not miss.
let's see how long it takes before the first loser screams, that these are fake or the pixelated crap looks better and as intended...
we all know that pixelshit looks better on a CRT but nobody gives a frick because nobody plays that crap any more moron
that's not a CRT anon, it's a filter. Eat shit, you deserve it
Based. Modern gaming really is cancer, but I can't blame the zoomers for not knowing better, the early 3D era is almost unplayably ugly now and they're too moronic to run old pixelshit, which as you've shown looks like garbage without at least some kind of CRT filter.
>nobody plays that crap any more
Holy mother of cope
i'm 28 and i have never played a pixel game in my life. If you play that shit you are a dinosaur.
Ok zoomer
Pixel games goooooooood.
The LCD looks better
I'm not sure what you consider 'fake' but the pixelated crap absolutely has fricked up color mapping. I tried s-curving and color shifting it to something similar on the right, but it's still not quite the same thing.
Arcade games have fricked up gamma art on purpose to compensate for the weird ass gamma ramps of the monitors.
The graphics were designed the same way.
thanks for these comparison pictures
looks great
can't believe people don't know about scanlines
does everything get darker when playing it on a 4k monitor?
I know my screenshots end up being dark because I have to turn off HDR. If you screenshot stuff with it on, it's bright and washed out like picrel. When I turn it off, I never like the brightness level.
>buy brand new GPU and CPU
>also buy 4k screen for the same price as the previous two because DOOD GET WITH THE TIMES
>all your games now run and look worse than before
Even 1080p looks better on a 4k monitor, your 1060 isn't gonna last forever
how on earth does 1080 look better on a 4k screen than a native 1080 screen
Because higher ppi
ppi goes down as the monitor size increases dumbass
considering that you're talking about 4k it's safe to assume you have in mind at least a 27 inch monitor, which has a worse ppi than a 24 inch monitor
>look worse than before
???
Yeah particularly if you fall for the dlss meme
there's really no better shitlib/femoid/troony test than whether or not you're a 1080p or 1440p chad or a 4k troony... 4k is terrible. stop.
go back to discord normalhomosexual
4k? That's caveman shit now bro. 8k or nothing.
8k is too big for most desks. You need a floating desk setup to fit an 85" 8k screen in.
>he doesn't have secret military 16K monitor from illuminati connections
lol fricking pleb.
I don’t use shitty profile pictures for one. What is that even supposed to be, the fricking Zapruder film?
just get a CRT lmao
1440p@144hz with DSR enabled for antialiasing and clearing up shit like foliage is the true master race. you're not white if you do anything else.
This looks fricking awful dude. Why would you turn on that flicker effect? Literally stop
VHS looked like shit before DVD came along. That's why we were using laserdiscs.
The main problem with VHS was the shit color encoding.
Way too fricking blurry
Most people still used VHS im 1999. Consumer cameras were pretty much all VHS until years later
>flicker effect that only existed when you filmed a monitor
Holy mother of zoomer.
Thank you for calling this out.
There's a reason people prefer CRT and it's not that stupid shit because that wasn't a thing outside of dying TVs, and I question if even dying TVs had that exact effect.
you fricking moron that is a product of the shutter speed of the camera recording the TV.
He doesn't understand vertical scan refresh. 🙁
Who the frick would be playing a video game through a camera pointed at a TV?
Zoomers.
I got an lcd after that.
zoomers grew up with crts. are you using zoomer as shorthand for "kids these days?"
>zoomers grew up with crts
I doubt that's true for most. Everyone couldn't wait to dump their CRTs for LCDs. Probably only the poorgay zoomers remember CRTs.
film your CRT
Apparently emulating CRTs to zoomers is making them look as shit as possible
holy mother of screentearing
oh my god please tell me you're filming a CRT in a dimly lit room and not seriously emulating games with that shimmering effect
how did this go from a 1080p vs 4k thread to a CRT thread?
Sneed and feed.
Actually yes
The games are not intensive so even my 6600xt runs them at 4K
>1080p60
Why not just buy a PS5 at that point?
He said 1080p60 not 900p25
Nope. Still on 1080p 60fps.
Ignorance is bliss as they say.
the CRT vs Clear Pixel stuff has NOTHING to do with 1080p vs 4K. 1080p is not a filter - its just less pixels. More pixels are good to have a clearer image. CRT was needed to fake the illusion of a detailed picture but through a blurry filter. Today we can have ACTUAL clear images
frick off moron
You do play on 4k, right Ganker?*
Also, no. I play 1080p 144hz.
Could I upgrade?
Yeah, but I don't really need more.
And yes, I've seen plenty of panels of all sizes, resolutions and refresh rates.
480p on a crt, you dont need more.
>I play 21" 1080p , I don't need more. What good is better visual fidelity in a media which is based around visual fidelity?
another Ganker cope thread
I DONT PUT MY FACE CLOSE ENOUGH TO THE SCREEN TO SEE INDIVIDUAL PIXELS YOUR TRIPLE Black person
So, you run 4k? Got it.
always on 4k
cant even play 1080p shit anymore just too blury on my big ass tv
>memeresolution which most games don't natively support
Nah.
>4k
>meme
>games that don't natively support it
Do you only play games from before 2005, that don't have proper widescreen options or something?
>Do you only play games from before 2005, that don't have proper widescreen options
You don't? what the frick is wrong with you
>he plays games after 2005+2
zoom zoom
Look at the steam forums.
In more than 50% of new games you have homosexuals whining that 4k isn't supported properly.
Name 5
No.
Name 4096(4K) games
I haven't had an issue getting 4k to work. In MOST games, it works without a hitch. In some older shit, I may have to edit a .ini or something. And in very few cases, I have to force the app to use its own DPI scaling (because I have everything scaled by 300% in Windows).
Even old games support it if they were made right.
Half-Life's UI is scaled for 640x480. I wouldn't say that it was "made right" if you need to tweak shit by yourself.
Frick off jensen I won't buy your overpriced GPUs
>ESL thread
el burritos es tacos en chimichangas!!!
imagine being proud of only knowing 1 language and that language being the gender neutral garbage of languages, English. lol, lmao, rofl even.
Imagine being proud of having parents who hate you.
Why do consoomers get so mad when you don't buy into the fad?
They want to feel justified in their purchase.
Sounds
I don't think CRT can even do 4ks
crt's dont have resolution in the way and lcd has resolution
1440p
prob gonna switch to 4k gayming in a couple of years
Is it just me or is OLED really fricking good for pixelated retro-games with CRT filters? I've been in awe at the beauty of emulating SNES games but maybe my old screen was just that bad.
no i play on 240hz 1080p with an rtx 3090. its literally over for me.
yes
>playing on 4k so you can see just how low poly and ugly the textures are
do 4kgays really?
i don't know if you were aware of this, but it actually possible to select other resolutions on a monitor...
Even ugly games benefit from nicer edges.
It cuts input lag. I can't really tell, since lag doesn't affect me that much. I guess it's better with.
holy shit look at that ghosting on the taxi cab
did you use DLSS for this?
can you not even play GTA 3 in 4k native?
The game has motion blur. That's native.
Pretty sure GTA3 has that fake motion blur by default, especially on PS2
Native stuff runs fine maxed out.
1080p with a 3080ti
all i need and will ever need for the next 5+ years
Especially when modern games can barely run well on 1080p ultra at all
>fell for the ultra meme
ngmi
I play on 3k
>Do you play on 4k, right v?
No.
4K is a picture for ants.
Must be terrible to get scammed into buying a tiny screen.
>Not buying a 38 inch ultra wide 5760p monitor.
kek
>38"
Like I said, tiny screen. 38" wouldn't be acceptable for a screen with half that resolution.
>38" wouldn't be acceptable for a screen with half that resolution.
Are you moronic? Why would I want a bigger screen? I don't want shit PPI like your 24' 1080p or those morons with 27 1440p.
Or do you enjoy seeing pixels?
Screenshot of what?
Currently playing little BoTW before heading to my cousins.
bigger image https://files.catbox.moe/5twq1d.jpg
Runs like crap though. 29-33 FPS, but then again that's what the N!ntoddlers had to cope with on their hardware and they had 720p instead of 5760p.
>Screenshot of what?
Of any game of your choice with your monitor's resolution, not downscaled. I am sincerely interested in how much detail that kind of res has to offer.
I was bringing it up before, but have you tried Mordhau or Chivalry? They're first person melee games that have peripheral view management as a focus of the genre. I've heard wild ultrawide resolutions like that is basically cheating, but I never really saw any real gameplay of it by someone halfway competent.
Don't have any of those.
I did a Hitman Webm long ago that showed 8K.
the easiest way you can try out teh wider resolutions is to create a custom res, or simply run in window and drag those windows to ultrawide ratios.
>Always funny hearing morons who don't understand anything talking.
Ironic.
Since you don't know what PPI is.
Or do you hate that 5-6 inch phones aren't all 360-480p?
>1080p
>obviously turned off anti-aliasing and sharpening
who are you trying to fool?
It's turned off on all of them. Anti aliasing becomes a meme at higher resolutions.
oh no...
>turns on SMAA and sharpening
>now the game looks as good as 4k with a 10th of the rendering cost
so higher resolutions really are a meme, huh?
Not really. Higher resolutions (with the display to show it) make it much more detailed (and easier to see said details). If you have a monitor for poors that's like 30", you might as well drop the res. I'm rocking the Odyssey Ark 4k, though.
What the frick is that resolution, anon?
You have an ultrawide yet it looks stretched like a 720P monitor jesus christ.
Are you fricking blind?
It's not ultrawide. It's 16x9. I have UI scaling turned on because it'll be annoyingly small at the 3840x2160 I'm running at.
dude, fricking use darkmode. This crap gives me eyecancer
>darkmode
Ain't nothing dark in my life.
you won't be able to see by the time you're 30
A curved 16:9 monitor is just fricking stupid.
It's necessary because it's fricking huge. Also, it directs the sound pretty well.
Higher resolutions are a meme if you fall for the DSR meme. The actual value of higher resolutions is being able to increase your FOV.
Like just get a load of
. Look at this fricking moron, using a 4k screen with max scaling so he's only getting a glorified 1080p panel at best.
You couldn't even mock something up? Man, you're bad at this.
>Like just get a load of
Not really. Higher resolutions (with the display to show it) make it much more detailed (and easier to see said details). If you have a monitor for poors that's like 30", you might as well drop the res. I'm rocking the Odyssey Ark 4k, though. (You). Look at this fricking moron, using a 4k screen with max scaling so he's only getting a glorified 1080p panel at best.
It doesn't matter on the desktop. No scaling in picrel.
I don't have to mock something up, when shitposting I don't have to prove anything.
Making people seethe is the one and only purpose.
's image look good enough.
Using scaling is what makes it usable.
People don't want to use a magnifying glass to use their PCs, they want higher res for the clarity.
And as he said here
The scaling is for Windows, not the games, but the clarity is still 4x of native if he's scaling it to look like 1080p on a 2160p monitor.
And once again here
is proof that "SPACE" isn't as important as clarity.
https://files.catbox.moe/gy89x2.jpg
Better to look at that bright image than looking you.
>proof
You don't have any space. Downscaled to what you actually see, you get garbage. Which makes sense, you're larping about having space when you have a tiny monitor.
Scaling is for morons who buy the wrong monitor. Like you.
my eyes
Yeah, it's revolting. But that's what this moron looks at on his tiny 38" screen.
Well, I doubt it. He probably disables scaling when he isn't larping, because nobody could stand to look at 4x "virtual super resolution" text.
We've got both sides of the spectrum here, a real first. One moron who downscales, and one moron who upscales.
>Imagine being this moronic and autistic that he hates scaling so much that he outs his room temp IQ.
Wouldn't surprise me if he uses Windows 7 and hates anything higher than 1024x768.
>Text is fricking disgusting and pixelated as frick
YES, such visual
>Text is clear
REEEEEEEEEEE
That's you, autistic and moronic. :^)
Why are you still larping like you even own a monitor capable of 2160p?
>haha I was only pretending to be moronic!
Gets funnier every time, man.
>haha I was only pretending to be moronic!
>Gets funnier every time, man.
>Gets told he's being shitposted
>Still bites the bait, and proceed to seethe.
Yes, it's mighty fun seeing your mental gymnastics.
Even on larger monitors (like mine I posted), UI scaling is useful if you don't need all that real estate. YMMV, but I like 300%. Games themselves don't use said scaling, and that's my main purpose of 4k.
I didn't play far enough to see the UI (as that shows up after you get the HEV suit), so that may be an issue, but the actual game runs fine and the res is selectable natively. I was referring to games that lock you in to shitty resolutions.
It looks like ass, even on a 55" monitor. Sorry. I just don't need that real estate for browsing Ganker or reading my mail.
>>Even on larger monitors (like mine I posted), UI scaling is useful if you don't need all that real estate.
>If you didn't need the real estate, why did you buy 4k?
>4K is only for real estate, not for clarity.
Are you fricking dense?
Do you know why people buy cars with 400HP instead of 100HP?
Hint: It's not to drive at 400KM/h, it's to make the driving feel good even at 100KM/h.
>Car analogy
You'd act just as stupid if it was a food analogy.
People who get upset when present an analogy are also shown to have mental problems.
>I didn't say anything about that yet
Because I already did it so you don't have to bring that up and further prove how dumb you are.
Your analogy sucks because it doesn't take into account certain facts about the human eye and the way it takes in information.
https://screenshotcomparison.com/comparison/30791
Didn't open link, don't give a shit about BD.
2160p on PC with 200% scaling in Windows to make the image a 400% better clarity 1080p experience.
2160p in games for 4x more pixels to make it 400% more detailed, which is especially seen in the far distance.
>4k isn't about space. It's about fidelity, because fidelity was not enough with 1080p.
Fixed.
>which is especially seen in the far distance.
The difference between 1 pixel and 4, especially when we're talking about you, a moron using scaling, is nothing. You have no real concept of what you're talking about here, which is why you're terrified to admit you even clicked the link.
4x the pixels does not mean 400% detail. You don't know what you're on about, and it's sad to see.
>Clicked the link
It's still blue, therefore not clicked.
Try being a moron somewhere else.
Man, you were that scared? Go on, take me a nice fancy screenshot of some shit game in 4k. You're so sure you know the difference, right?
https://www.google.com/search?client=cuck-b-d&q=screenshot+4K+video+game
There you go. Now you have over 99999999 images of screenshots.
>2 minutes
Well good for him.
The post replied to was not 2 minutes between, nor do I need to edit css files to make it blue, I simply don't have to click on that furry autists links to prevent it from turning purple.
my brother in christ I can spend two minutes editing the css of this page to change all unclicked links to look like somebody in world 2 falador selling lobsters
I can tell the difference between 1080p and 2160p, especially at the size of the monitor I'm on. It's not a placebo. There are other features I like (the native sound system is shockingly good, the 1000 nits brightness makes HDR sexy as frick, it has other features like apps and multiview with said apps that are useful). It was worth the price.
>dvd
Welcome to 1997.
>>I can tell the difference between 1080p and 2160p, especially at the size of the monitor I'm on. It's not a placebo.
Outside of text, I can guarantee you would fail basic A/B testing. I might actually make one of those one day, take a few screenshots of games, blur out the text and any high contrast UI elements, and see if morons like you can tell them apart.
I resized the 1080p PNG using Adobe's crap (lossless) and used the same method to save jpegs, since they're too big to post on Ganker as PNGs. Here's the 4k native (I don't use DLSS or other homosexualry) shot.
Why'd you make your Shepard bald? give him hair
Self insertion.
Looks pretty damn good at 4k.
>CRT shaders
homosexual DETECTED
Dumbo
>hmmm I have a 4k monitor
>what shall I play today?
>a old game designed to be viewed on a tiny screen or a tiny blurry screen?
EXTREME moronATION
I replayed so many games since I got the 4k setup and it makes all of them better, no exceptions.
I have a few UI issues like Hitman Blood Money, but yeah. Overall, better.
>I have a few UI issues
Some older games need a mod to run smoothly but luckily there is always a mod.
So far.
until you play a actually really old game with no mod support what so ever or is a fmv game
you sir are blind
patient trolling so it went down the toilet but whatever that's history
too sad too bad almost 2 decades later and we're still using garbage screens that cannot replicate what a crt did
The beauty of my monitor is I can scale down my screen size so I can play games like you poors with tiny monitors when the resolution is low.
lol
>playing games in a tiny window because your meme screen
VA is dogshit in general skip it as a whole and other panel types aren't much better
mini led or oled is the only solution
That's actually the first time I ever did that. I run my games fullscreen at native res.
>mini led or oled is the only solution
aren't these really expensive and only in TVs for now?
https://www.samsung.com/us/computing/monitors/gaming/55-odyssey-ark-4k-uhd-165hz-1ms-quantum-mini-led-curved-gaming-screen-ls55bg970nnxgo/
Cheap.
so like i said, it's only in TVs and really expensive.
That's not a TV. It's a manly monitor.
if that's manly then i need a girly sub-30" monitor.
Built for big black monitors.
Now here's the 1080p shot scaled to 4k. Notice the textures are muddier (and you definitely notice it ingame) and the edges are nasty (you ESPECIALLY notice that ingame).
>scale 1920x1080 resolutuon to 3840x2160
>it's muddier
no fricking shit moron
It's going to scale on my monitor regardless. If I use some monitor made for ants, I'm sure I won't notice, but I'll see the difference in game. The point of the scale was to do a side by side. If you look at a 1080p jpeg and it's smaller than the 4k one, you'd be like "it looks the same!!!!!!1!1!1oneonetwo" But seeing them the same size (which I would on my monitor), you see the differences.
Holy frick, you're dumb. Here's what a 1080p shot would actually look like if you knew what you were doing.
Still looks like ass. Jaggy jaggy jaggy muddy muddy muddy.
It's about 10% worse. Which is what you'd expect.
The 4k shot isn't 400% clearer, like you thought it would be though.
>The 4k shot isn't 400% clearer
It is.
200% clearer vertically
200% clearer horizontally.
200+200=4U hundred
>proof
Proof of a moron that would use 100% scaling when the topic was nothing but using higher scaling.
Thanks for proving to be braindead.
of a moron that would use 100% scaling
I mean, that's what you're doing. You're getting 4x resolution output and then you're running that at 400%. It's just an incredibly inefficient way to run 100% scaling on your tiny monitor while also letting everyone get a good laugh at your expense.
I can understand the potential benefits of DSR/VSR in games. But in windows? Jesus man, you're one real fricking moron.
>Doesn't realize his stupidity when he's knee-deep in bait
Damn you're easy to fool.
you don't know what PPI is.
You're the one who doesn't know what PPI is. Hell, let's use your own examples. 38" 21:9 1440p vs a 27" 1440p screen? The 27" has a higher PPI. Digital super resolution doesn't mean you have a 5760p monitor, you utter moron.
You're the one "seeing pixels".
>Hell, let's use your own examples. 38" 21:9 1440p
>1440p
The monitor isn't a 1440p monitor, you moron.
>>The monitor isn't a 1440p monitor, you moron.
Alright, post the product page. I'd love to see this magical monitor that just happens to be 4x 3440x1440.
See
I don't post engineering examples for morons like you. :^)
That is to say, to get the improvements seen in
, all you have to do is to render the game at 4K and downscale to 1080p.
>Doesn't understand pixel density
AMAZIN'
holy shit
post a screenshot
pic unrelated
Yes I do, though sometimes I wish I had chosen 1440 or something. I dunno. As a screenshot gay, filesizes for the thousands of screenshots I take eventually become a b***h and as much as I like seeing more detail, I do like having a consistent framerate which becomes an issue in more modern games. I don't have problems in like Hunt Showdown at 4k, but games that necessitate high framerate like Mordhau and Chiv2 definitely suffer because of my resolution choice and not going fullscreen borderless so I can downscale it to 1440 really, really fricking sucks.
is that ffxiv? that game is garbage
1440p 27" is perfect for current desktop gaming
>not being on the 32" 165hz master race
>165hz
Not an integer of 60hz lmao, enjoy your shit framepacing on 60fps videos
what is VRR?
Variable refresh rate. AMD has Freesync, and Nvidia has GSync.
which does what, to framepacing, exactly?
if you try to play at 60fps video at 90fps there's no choice but to display only half the frames twice. you'll notice significant jitter because some frames are displayed once and some are displayed twice.
60fps video at 120hz all the frames are displayed twice so there's no jitter
Something that won't on your video player or browser
>pay to beta test meme tech
>get angry when devs don't support your meme tech
is this homosexual implying that he is mentally conditioned to the point where he can't stop being stuck in the wageslave auto pilot unless he physically holds a gamepad?
That's because it's some homosexual trying way too hard to make it look like his idea of what old TVs were like, which is obviously overdramatic bullshit
Im the same way. I have to use a mouse and keyboard all day for work. I have no interest in doing that in my spare time.
1440p. Best of both worlds. I have both resolution and frame rate. Literally have your cake and eat it too.
Without the CRT they are essentially overpriced emulator boxes running a really bad LCD.
my laptop only has a 1080p screen so no
>Do you play on 4k, right v?
No. Because getting used to higher resolutions and framerates = need to upgrade more often if I want to play latest vidya without it seeming shit. I will stay at 60fps and 1080p for the forseeable future.
Stop being such a consoomer, I used a crt for current gen gaming until like 2008.
I would only get 4k for text rendering and reading shit. I don't see any reason I need more than a 27" 1440p monitor
Yeah that’s pretty much ideal. Chasing the latest technology will always leave you disappointed.
>text rendering
Do you zoomers just not use computers or something? I have never, at no point, EVER, in my life thought "man, this text looks too pixelly". It just doesn't fricking happen. The value of 4k is more SPACE. I can tile windows all day.
That can be nice for eyestrain when you spend 8 hours a day on a computer.
zoooooooooooooom!
4k has incredible usability for productive programs. At 1080p, programs and folders can get really cluttered. If you do any sort of modding, asset creation, or creative aspect for games, 4k is a life changer. I wouldn't even recommend replacing your 1080p, just have a second 4k monitor.
is unironically pretty damn accurate.
>Hardware AA isn't for gaming
lmao who let the moron out of the asylum?
you will never be a woman
Thank god for that.
Imagine being a moron all your life.
I think you stupid fricks are sitting too close to the screen and falling for the sheeple perpetual consumption plot.
>buy 4K TV
>not one single cable provider is offering 4K movies, shows, documentaries, all you got is SOME soccer games in 4K
>pay for netflix subscription
>enjoy sluggish blurry 2020+3 movies in silky smooth ""4K ""
Nomries are fricking braindead
4K is a fricking meme and i want to kill any subhuman troony who think this is the """"""future""""""
1080p is literally perfection but hey i hope you enjoy your 704×480 dvd movies on a 4k television
>buy "4K" TV
>Connect it to the PC through HDMI
>Never connect TV to any network
>Use UHD TV as your HTPC monitor for clear image and detailed gaming at 2160p.
>"""""""""""detailed gaming""""""""""" at UPSCALED 2160p
>on a 4K TV
kys you subhuman troony scum
>UPSCALED
Why would you "upscale" native 2160p to 2160p
How would you do that?
Care to explain how one scales 1 to 1?
If I have a game running at 3840x2160, on a monitor with 3840x2160. How is that upscaling?
Are you perhaps showing signs of dementia?
name 10 games worth playing that have NATIVE 2160p
you subhuman troony
>name 10 games worth playing
>worth playing
Trying to make all games listed not worthy won't work.
>that have NATIVE 2160p
Every game with a resolution slider, or resolution setting.
Half-Life 1 have native 2160p because it simply renders at the resolution you set it to run at.
Open Half-life on a UHD TV and the resolution 3840x2160 will show up.
If you use that, there you go. NATIVE 2160p.
Do that to 9 other games and come back.
>durrr gaem meant to play at like 640x480 werks at 4gayzillion
>uhhhh deflect deflect
>cumback
sperm whale
are you ok?
Yes but I'm questioning your dog shit vision that you think you need 4k to play a game with less texture resolution than a game with worse graphics than a ps3 game
Meant to be played at 480p?
That game was made in 1998, and my monitor that came before 1998 had 1600x1200.
My graphic cards ran that game at 1024x768 butter smooth at 60FPS
there is a reason your own mother couldn't love you
take your fricking meds subhuman troony
All of them. Rather name one game worth playing under glorious 4k..
After starting to play on a hugeass 4k panel everything else looks like milky eye aids. Respect yourself a little gaylord.
1080p content objectively looks better on a 4k screen tho
i saw that post on reddit and laughed my fricking ass off
jesus christ people are delusional, including (you) OP
What's a good 4k monitor? Can my 3070 even run it?
3070 will drive 4k quite well. I use the Samsung Odyssey Ark 4k. SEXY.
>what's a good 4k monitor
A oled one
>can your 3070 even run it
if you play nothing but indie games and decades old games it sure can
Do not buy 4K for gaming unless you have the disposable income to upgrade to a new flagship every year
i dont get the point of 4k unless it's a tv or a really large monitor.
If it's a monitor you're way too close to notice pixels.
If you can your tiny desk should be the first thing you replace.
ppi
800p for Steam Deck, 1080p for PC gaming, 1440p for work, 4k for VR.
>1fps
wtf
My eyes max out at 720p
>Do you play on 4k, right v?
That sentence is grammatical nonsense. Stay in school.
I don't emulate
I do have a 4K TV
I play on a 480i TV
I want a new CRT release from Sony
Yes of course, 4K oled looks incredible
Feed it native 4K or 1080p integer or 240p with CRT shaders, it looks good no matter what, and isn't blurry no matter what.
Peak gaming tbh
yes i play at 4k144hz
lads, is it worth getting a 1440p monitor if i'm gonna use it both for gaming and work? i don't need a 2nd monitor and i really dislike my 1080p VA monitor so i want to get rid of it.
Upgrading from Black person1080p? Always.
which ones would you recommend? i had a bad experience with my VA panel but maybe it's just because i bought an MSI.
Yes, it's a whole new world of productivity.
hello mr nvidia/samsung/lg employee
>reverse image search
>first result is reddit
Go back.
I been playing quite a bit of 240p since i got an HDMI to composite adapter.
The CRT motion quality is not something to be scoffed at.
I just can't see myself dropping hundreds on a monitor.
>hundreds
Picrel.
Never said 400% clearer. I just said it's worth it.
>I just said it's worth it.
Now that's an argument we can have. How far do you sit from your 55" screen?
When I'm desktopping, probably 3' at the most.
4-5' for gaming depending on mouse or gamepad.
Here's the 1080p version, 60 PPD adjusted for correct comparison.
i have a 32" 4K monitor and I'm never getting anything lower res after using this. It's simply better in every way, no downside.
4K is for losers Now 64K, and using a microscope to see enemies further and shoot them with an AWP at a 10 KM distance, now that's real gameplay. I don't enjoy my games if I can't see the mites walking on people's faces anyway.
Uh oh, I'm using 1080p, oooo, watch out Ganker both my monitors are 1080p 144hz, oooo spooky. I'm not using a 1440p or 4K monitor, oooooo.
lmao it goes both ways on this moronic board
no matter what resolution or refresh rate you are on, or what tech your display is, you're a boogeyman to -someone- here
Left looks better.
I own a PS5
I will only use it to play games on 1080p
As far i know, the PS5 does super sampling when on a 1080p display.
You are technically speaking running the games at whatever the frick it does to pretend its 4k, except using it to generate true anti aliasing.
Cool. But where are games?
no, I still play at 1080p because I'm poor as frick, if I'm lucky I'll upgrade to 1440p the next year or so
Both of these are way lower than 1080p. The one on the right is like 100p
What's the highest resolution monitor you can buy right now? 8k?
No, my monitor is 27”. 1440p is good for that screen size. Any larger and I would go 2160p.
Why would I want that many inches on my monitor?
The kind of moron who says this is the same kind of moron who has 2 monitors and doesn't see anything wrong with that.
I don't see why having 2 monitors is like using 4k
Having 2 monitors is like having the bottom half of a 4k monitor, except you have an ugly bezel in the middle of it.
multiple moniters is better work flow
Do zoomers not understand the concept of windows or something?
If only it were possible to tile windows. Sadly, if you have one screen you're forced to always use it full screen on a single program or Bill Gates will eat your soul.
So you like to turn your screen into two celphones on vertical, got it.
Work/media consumption screen, social media bullshit screen
why don't mass replies get banned? why isn't there a filter for this shit, but you still can't say "nintenbro"?
Just enable DLSS. That's what it's for.
>monitor is bigger
>eye strain
>more resources for little return
>just use DLSS
sure buddy, link me those sweet affordable 4k 22 inches monitors then we ll move on to the rest of your bullshit
No, 1080p is already enough.
>get a 4K monitor
>it's a larger panel so it's the same PPI as HD
>scale the output so the text and icons are the same size because you don't have microscopic vision
>continue to view HD content
>"There's so much more room!" (Not true)
>"It's so much more detailed!" (Not true)
>"I didn't waste my money!" (Not true)
When I torrent shit like animu or watch YouTube I don't even use 1080p. 720p is good enough.
Wait, 4k has more pixels???
Yes. When I get tired of winning and feel like screaming "I fricking pressed it!" every few minutes.
>muh crt pixel examples
i mean yeah if you're using composite cables on a game designed to use them as, essentially, a post processing technique sure it'll look better as intended
this could be emulated digitally but we live in a failed society that can't understand cause and effect
It's already emulated.
hello failed society it isn't done properly
>4k
Sorry, I don't do memes.
Your entire existence is a meme so kys.
I can't tell what that is supposed to be in either picture so you got scammed lmao
>not even a game screenshot
Why would you was money on anything above HD? 720p is the perfect resolution for gaming
Tali's feet in 4k.
I don't play with my face 1 inch away from the screen.
I've found that makes it hard to see 90% of it.
Well you replied to me and I never said anything against your point. So like all mass-repliers you're a fricking tool and moron.
>awww, baybee mad that the mass reply button included his reply
Nah, I'm fine with being replied to if I said something stupid. My post in the mass reply (
) had nothing to do with it though.
>have a shitty 2GB card
>play all the games I like without too much trouble
>don't miss out on any ultra HD or current-year AAA shit because I don't care about them anyway
>anything reasonably demanding I can just keep on low
>be happy
Same bro. Its so comfy when you dont give a shit about AAA games and fotm crap
The only thing I find good is 4K and if it has a large panel, as a TV
I don't see the point of having such a large resolution on such a small panel
Unless of course you like the approach Apple had with their "Retina Display" thingy
CRTs is just when an artist draws on a shit monitor with shit color correction.

REMEMBER WHAT THEY TOOK FROM YOU
Foolish, they traded frames for sharpness.

Its not a company copy pasting posts thousands of times. It's not a conspiracy, it's just fat morons using multiple websites and you all being sheep that say the same things hundreds of millions of times. (just like me when i said sheep and youve seen people say sheep hundreds of millions of times on different websites)
Frick off shill

(Also the internet and tech has been super-streamlined so that you're redirected to the same shit.)
Just as unoriginal as you, comic copy paster
No, on 1440P
No, people who play at 4k are almost exclusively playing at 30-40fps
>NUH UH not me
Congrats on your 3080
Sorry you're poor.
i don't put my face this close to the monitor
What will be the name of the Unreal Engine 5 game that finally gets everyone aboard the 4k train? It will be at capped at 30fps.
1080p is the god resolution
you literally don't need anything else, it's perfect for gaming, media consumption and work
