What we do is actually play Pathfinder 2e. We adapted it a little with pokemon moves and all. We used to have a custom system that was close to what's in the game but we changed it because it was too much one-shotting and type advantage while Pf2 rules had grappling rules and swallowing attacks

Yes. Kelly had a rich old owner who died, and when that happened he got disposseded by Team Legion and was yeeted out of the city walls for the wild mons to eat, for a grand total of five seconds.
Because at the very same time, Red Eyes decided he wanted to get IN, so he grabbed Kelly by the scruff, tossed him back in, and then tossed himself through the opening at the surprised and very soon to be dead human guards. After beating the shit out of them (and throwing them outside for the wild mons to enjoy), Rudy dragged Kelly off into the streets and made him point him to a hiding place.
At that point Rudy didn't eat Kelly because when Red Eyes saves you, you fricking stay saved so he figured he was kind of stuck with this delusionally carefree bourgeois pet that can't understand things such as 'scams', 'sex', 'danger', 'too expensive' and speaks politely in a measured wienerney accent.

Also, kinda unrelated, but I wanted to mention that the Braixen and the Weavile in this pic are a friend's characters. They live with their human owners in a tiny neighborhood right next to a huge forest, and they're good friends with the Nidorina and Charmeleon, who live out in a Pokémon village in the woods. The four of them like to hang out with each other when the humans aren't around, and sometimes they even go on dungeoneering adventures together, so long as the two domestic 'mons can be convinced to.
Anyway, the only reason I bring all of this up is because the Braixen's name is also Pepper, and I think that's a funny coincidence.

There are two ways to take the Pepper setting, the first one is to keep it 'straight' with dog cop VS immortal champion of Yveltal outlaw goof goon and all. That's the version for normies and people that just wanna enjoy a good story with cool characters and everybody is welcome to see it that way, and even encouraged. But then there's what everyone personally might like out of it, some want to frick the dog, some want the dog to eat them, some want to wiener the buizel and use her like a water gun, those are all personally valid. I don't want to push it in any way, but if some people say 'X fetish is cool', I might say that we kind of did some of that stuff ourselves, and that's fine. I'm just glad to see anons like what I do, no matter how they like it.

As someone who's also done a lot of conceptualizing Pokémon characters and worldbuilding and all that (though, I never really did much with it... I sorta moved on to other things), I think it's really interesting. Imagining how different characters would act in this wild setting... it's not something I've done in a long while, so it's a lot of fun. And it definitely helps that all of your characters look badass (and adorable).
I hope you're doing alright, also. We'd be missing out on some pretty cool stuff if you died.

What's important is to have a vision and do it. Give an identity. I was always that kind of kid that liked COOL and BADASS stuff and I listen to ROCK and METAL. It's nice that so many years later people finally seem to look back and say 'actually, it's not childish to like things' and there is growing interest in this kind of creative enjoyment. Just make things and soak in it. People like that. I think they always have. And why not do Pokemon?

Pokemon is so easy to create with. You could take it into any and all directions. Some people do human-like mons that are cool and gritty, others do cute, some keep them as pets, and all that. It's no wonder that the franchise is so popular because it's the correct mix of unique personality and 'space for creativity'. If you just google Smeargle OC you see a billion different takes, they're usually so creative, and don't rely on my cheap tricks of just aping rock and roll style, then slapping it on a mon.

Little things is a little ambiguous, anon... how about a little more about the police Pokemon outside of Pepper, like Donut? How about the types of prisoners they have in custody, and if it's mostly humans or Pokemon?
Are there any notable third-party megacorps or labs that aren't affiliated with outlaws, the evil human team, or the police force?
Not much that I know, you'd have to ask my friend. What we do know is that Team Legion acquired several firms that pioneered some of the advanced Apex technology, which includes advanced prosthetics and such. There is some evidence that suggests some pokemons were invested into the creation and research of such things but Team Legion is quick to delete any evidence that anything other than humans did anything. Some of the mons working 'independent' in the outer districts display strange technical skills and an appetite for technological work that usually only exists for humans, and they don't always talk about where they got that. It's hard to know much about the corporations because they guard their secrets jealously. But then what if the 'great genius' that designed this line of intelligent augmented reality glasses for mons, was the CEO's mon? Nobody can know...

I wish there was a place you guys had for talking more in-depth about this setting. From everything I've heard, it sounds really fun! I know it's between only a small group of people, but I think you'd be onto something if you were to open it up a bit. You wouldn't necessarily have to share it with us since we're strangers and all, but you should definitely see if any of those you guys are close with share an interest in it. I think having more people could help flesh out this already interesting world of yours even more. Take it from a firsthand experience!

To be perfectly honest, I quit drawing for three years when I gave up on life, then I got the pokemon RP game as a way to be a bit better and all, and we ended up making all of this. But it's all for our tabletop campaign. Technically I'm not a pokemon artist but before I put on that mask nobody cared because pokemon is popular and I was unknown.
What I'm trying to say anyway is that this is all just me making my characters because I like to have characters, and I at least share the art with people. It's very much a me / best friend thing and sometimes I wonder if it's really wise for me to talk about it much in a era where private life is much too public for everyone and anything written down stays within reach for decades. I don't particularly see my 'lore' as important as anyone could come up with their own, or imagine their own version of what I make in their own mind, just as I adapted pokemon to my own wants.

What we do is actually play Pathfinder 2e. We adapted it a little with pokemon moves and all. We used to have a custom system that was close to what's in the game but we changed it because it was too much one-shotting and type advantage while Pf2 rules had grappling rules and swallowing attacks

Also, kinda unrelated, but I wanted to mention that the Braixen and the Weavile in this pic are a friend's characters. They live with their human owners in a tiny neighborhood right next to a huge forest, and they're good friends with the Nidorina and Charmeleon, who live out in a Pokémon village in the woods. The four of them like to hang out with each other when the humans aren't around, and sometimes they even go on dungeoneering adventures together, so long as the two domestic 'mons can be convinced to.
Anyway, the only reason I bring all of this up is because the Braixen's name is also Pepper, and I think that's a funny coincidence.

There are two ways to take the Pepper setting, the first one is to keep it 'straight' with dog cop VS immortal champion of Yveltal outlaw goof goon and all. That's the version for normies and people that just wanna enjoy a good story with cool characters and everybody is welcome to see it that way, and even encouraged. But then there's what everyone personally might like out of it, some want to frick the dog, some want the dog to eat them, some want to wiener the buizel and use her like a water gun, those are all personally valid. I don't want to push it in any way, but if some people say 'X fetish is cool', I might say that we kind of did some of that stuff ourselves, and that's fine. I'm just glad to see anons like what I do, no matter how they like it.

If it makes you feel any better, I'm playing up the naughty stuff for the most part. If I were to actually flesh out the setting, it'd either have it as a small gag that only gets brought up every once in a while, or I might not even include it at all. I stopped eating wheat and now I only tic a little bit. I've experimented not eating casein and it seems to further reduce tics but I'm not quite sure by how much yet.

And she wouldn't join Rudy's crew. She's to much of a do-gooder, and she couldn't separate herself from her Charmeleon buddy anyway. Besides, being on Pepper's team gives her ample opportunities to have run-ins with the outlaws, for better or worse.
Rudy's followers get free resurrections, no matter how horrible, brutal or ridiculous their deaths are.
Pepper on the other hand will be forced to give you acid resistance training if she notices you tend to end up in such an environment

Anyway, stop trying to eat her! If it happens too often, the others might start to get suspicious. Reckless as she is, she'd like to at least keep a façade of having SOME self-preservation instincts.
As someone who's also done a lot of conceptualizing Pokémon characters and worldbuilding and all that (though, I never really did much with it... I sorta moved on to other things), I think it's really interesting. Imagining how different characters would act in this wild setting... it's not something I've done in a long while, so it's a lot of fun. And it definitely helps that all of your characters look badass (and adorable).

What's important is to have a vision and do it. Give an identity. I was always that kind of kid that liked COOL and BADASS stuff and I listen to ROCK and METAL. It's nice that so many years later people finally seem to look back and say 'actually, it's not childish to like things' and there is growing interest in this kind of creative enjoyment. Just make things and soak in it. People like that. I think they always have. And why not do Pokemon?

Pokemon is so easy to create with. You could take it into any and all directions. Some people do human-like mons that are cool and gritty, others do cute, some keep them as pets, and all that. It's no wonder that the franchise is so popular because it's the correct mix of unique personality and 'space for creativity'. If you just google Smeargle OC you see a billion different takes, they're usually so creative, and don't rely on my cheap tricks of just aping rock and roll style, then slapping it on a mon.

Little things is a little ambiguous, anon... how about a little more about the police Pokemon outside of Pepper, like Donut? How about the types of prisoners they have in custody, and if it's mostly humans or Pokemon?

Not much that I know, you'd have to ask my friend. What we do know is that Team Legion acquired several firms that pioneered some of the advanced Apex technology, which includes advanced prosthetics and such. There is some evidence that suggests some pokemons were invested into the creation and research of such things but Team Legion is quick to delete any evidence that anything other than humans did anything. Some of the mons working 'independent' in the outer districts display strange technical skills and an appetite for technological work that usually only exists for humans, and they don't always talk about where they got that. It's hard to know much about the corporations because they guard their secrets jealously. But then what if the 'great genius' that designed this line of intelligent augmented reality glasses for mons, was the CEO's mon? Nobody can know...

I know it's between only a small group of people, but I think you'd be onto something if you were to open it up a bit. You wouldn't necessarily have to share it with us since we're strangers and all, but you should definitely see if any of those you guys are close with share an interest in it. I think having more people could help flesh out this already interesting world of yours even more. Take it from a firsthand experience!

To be perfectly honest, I quit drawing for three years when I gave up on life, then I got the pokemon RP game as a way to be a bit better and all, and we ended up making all of this. But it's all for our tabletop campaign. Technically I'm not a pokemon artist but before I put on that mask nobody cared because pokemon is popular and I was unknown.
What I'm trying to say anyway is that this is all just me making my characters because I like to have characters, and I at least share the art with people. It's very much a me / best friend thing and sometimes I wonder if it's really wise for me to talk about it much in a era where private life is much too public for everyone and anything written down stays within reach for decades. I don't particularly see my 'lore' as important as anyone could come up with their own, or imagine their own version of what I make in their own mind, just as I adapted pokemon to my own wants.
They would be even closer together than they've ever been think about it.
