I beat Elden Ring at RL 160 and everyone called me overleveled. I didn't even have to grind much at all. Everything drops a shit ton of runes and I don't want to waste it on random fromsoft bullshit so I level up whenever I can.
Turns out it was just PvP gays trying to normalize the standard level for duels. I don't give a frick about your twink bullshit. I play entirely offline.
you can easily reach 100 before you even enter leyndell if you do caelid and nokron before it, without any rune farming at all and ignoring most mini-dungeons
The game is scaled so that you are supposed to end your first run between level 110 and 150 and most people seem to clear their first run at 150.
I personally had killed all the bosses on my first character at 115 and every NG+ cycle after that will add atleast another 20-50 levels to your character and enemies will scale higher and higher until MG+8, after that enemy dmg, defences and HP stops going up, but at that point you'll have to wear the best armor and have maxed out atleast 2 DPS stats, endurance and Vigor, otherwise you'll get overkilled by everything in the game
Players were soo trash at the game when it launched that they only used R1s and complained bosses have "bloated HP" and are "clearly balaned for mandatory COOP". And not just endgame ones, these complaints were used for Mergit and Godrick as well.
This is why they gravitated toward katana bleed builds, it's one of the few ways you can make R1s as good as weapon arts, charged R2s, posture breaks etc.
Even the level SL150+ was being flown around for the endgame because "the game's just THAT hardcore".
You can only demolish catacomb/mine mini-bosses with consecutive posture breaks like that webm.
Plus, L2s have huge recovery animation, generally cost tons of FP and don't chain like R1spam.
This pisses me off so much. There's no such thing as "overleveling" in souls. That's why people beat it at lvl1. Once you get your main stat to 60, it makes virtually no difference if you are lvl 60 or 999. what the frick is 99 int going to do for your big sword? Even going to 99 str/dex is going to add at best 30 fricking damage out of your 900 AR. Point would be much more useful if spent in endurance and such, which doesn't make you kill bosses faster, just adds more confort.

Appart from all that equipment making him fat rolling, there's literally nothing wrong with his build. I guess he just thought "oh I'm not over 100% load so I'm fine, that's how the game is supposed to be played".
His HP is actually way too low for that level. Most end game enemies will 2 shot him.

I never went above 40 and beat the game 10 times without any issue. Especially on a caster build where you're supposed to stay away and not get hit. Nah. For a mage build, the best option with mind is to make it so that you have equal or slightly more mana then your blue flask fills. Anything more or less than that is a waste. Pretty sure a +12 flask covers 38 mind so it's pretty much the perfect amount.

youre not overleveled. i do everything, pop a gold foot + swap to gold scarab after major bosses and end up at like 180 in the end.
