I remember when they revealed 1tb micro sd some years ago and it was so expansive and it was something revolutionary that they could fit 1tb in such small size.
Now you can get a 1tb micro sd for less than $80.

Yeah but a fast one of just 1 TB can go up to $200.

You don't really need a fast one for emulation. Even the slower sd cards are faster than old dvd readers.

Why emulation in specific? You could fit all the desirable retro games in a 64/128GB SD card with room to spare. And filling your SD card with every retro game is moronic because 90% of games are shit no one likes or plays anymore.

      PS2 is retro.
      128GB is not enough.

I don't download full ROM sets for anything past 16-bit because that's moronic. Still, I do compile individual libraries of interesting titles for each console past 16-bit. All the ISOs are also converted to CHD which saves a lot of space.
Even then, my PS1 library is currently 105GB (316 titles), my PS2 library is 399GB (182 titles), my PSP library is 88.5 GB (141 titles), and my GC library is 85GB (88 titles). My Dreamcast and Saturn libraries are also 35GB total together although they need expanding. And I haven't even compiled a 3DS and Wii libraries yet. I use a 1TB SD card so I am good for now, but barely.
Again, that's all converted to CHD which cuts down like 30 percent of an image file on average and can go as high as 50-80 percent, especially for Dreamcast titles.

        >Wii libraries
That would be small in the first place as you can cut out 99.8% of the games, as they were baby shovelware.

          Anonymous

Nah, there were plenty of good exclusive titles, definitely more than on PS360, you just had to look for them. I could probably easily compile at least 50 games without thinking much and going for super obscurities and fan translations.

Hard drives are generally bad to fill due to fragmentation issues. You also don't want SSDs that have regular writes (like system drives) to be full.
