they always announce these but never actually sell them
>they always announce these but never actually sell them
Really? I have a couple of 2TB SD cards, what have they announced and not sold?
I remember when they revealed 1tb micro sd some years ago and it was so expansive and it was something revolutionary that they could fit 1tb in such small size.
Now you can get a 1tb micro sd for less than $80.
Yeah but a fast one of just 1 TB can go up to $200.
You don't really need a fast one for emulation. Even the slower sd cards are faster than old dvd readers.
I have Sandisk 1TB A2 which I bought for around $90 installed in my Steam Deck and it can run modern open world games like Forza Horizon 5 with no issues whatsoever.
>sd instead of SSD for the 'eck
Enjoy slow read and write speeds.
Modern game sizes are +100gb.
I'm not wasting internal SSD space on AAA slops when the game runs fine on the sd card.
Then did I got scammed? I bought mine at best buy a couple of weeks ago...
It's currently being sold for $90 on Amazon. And even the slightly faster version is $140.
If you paid $200, you got scammed.
Why emulation in specific? You could fit all the desirable retro games in a 64/128GB SD card with room to spare. And filling your SD card with every retro game is moronic because 90% of games are shit no one likes or plays anymore.
PS2 is retro.
128GB is not enough.
It's more than enough for every single good PS2 game
you don't need to fill your hard drive with garbage shovelware that you'll never play
PS2, PS3 and Switch emulation.
Memory is literally made up by the memory israelite to test how credulous over time we are.
Eventually, you will be told that you can store a GB on an atom, and you will believe it what Small Memory tells you. Tragic. I hope you enjoy inhaling microplastics filled with dolphin porn.
It's annoying how heavy file sizes got once discs became common
I have a flash drive with every game from NES to N64, with Genesis and Master system and the handhelds, but I would need like a terabyte for PS1, and Wii would be fricking insane
>Hey guys we can store 10 petabytes on this now.
>But uh um er um games are somehow a petabyte.
>Why? uuh I don't know poor optimization lmao
Made up.
Oh yeah?
Explain this
my life is a lie
I don't download full ROM sets for anything past 16-bit because that's moronic. Still, I do compile individual libraries of interesting titles for each console past 16-bit. All the ISOs are also converted to CHD which saves a lot of space.
Even then, my PS1 library is currently 105GB (316 titles), my PS2 library is 399GB (182 titles), my PSP library is 88.5 GB (141 titles), and my GC library is 85GB (88 titles). My Dreamcast and Saturn libraries are also 35GB total together although they need expanding. And I haven't even compiled a 3DS and Wii libraries yet. I use a 1TB SD card so I am good for now, but barely.
Again, that's all converted to CHD which cuts down like 30 percent of an image file on average and can go as high as 50-80 percent, especially for Dreamcast titles.
>Wii libraries
That would be small in the first place as you can cut out 99.8% of the games, as they were baby shovelware.
Nah, there were plenty of good exclusive titles, definitely more than on PS360, you just had to look for them. I could probably easily compile at least 50 games without thinking much and going for super obscurities and fan translations.
Give me fricking portable storage on phone then. My 1T S24U can only carry so much.
Digital things arent even real so why do they take up space?
Atom alignment.
>Release 4TB SD cards
>Every single device in existence continues to only support up to 2TB at best anyway for the next decade, or does support it but only at basic b***h speeds that make it worthless anyway
imagine bragging over 4tb lol
>Bragging about having less space than a 4TB SD card across five drives.
???
can someone explain to me under which conditions its bad to fill a drive and when its save?
only when is the drive where you have windows?
Jesus. Get some storage.
Hard drives are generally bad to fill due to fragmentation issues. You also don't want SSDs that have regular writes (like system drives) to be full.
ok, understood
What are you even hoarding to need this much storage? Stop being so attached to digital trash
>He allows Nextflix to tell him what he can and can't watch.
I'm paring it down right now. I'm doing a mass audio track strip on my animu and reencoding some that's stupid high quality (you've likely seen those 3GB/ep releases on Nyaa). It's helping. But I also have crap like Fattroony and GOG releases, as well as 4k movies.
Youtube channel with a years worth of game footage. Ive had two channels deleted by youtube and lost years worth of footage so never again am i going to lose data due to lack of storage
Its for people that creare content and needs lost of space for footage on cam and stuff like that. Not wleverything is about gaming, SD cards arent the most optimal for handheld PC games.
damn that's a lot of cheese pizza
There's a reason I use Bitlocker on U:.
When will this replace CDs? Physical media can thrive on that
>8K
When will we stop with the resolution meme? Games should focus on content and performance, 4K is already pushing it, anything beyond is completely unnecessary
how does technology continue to fit more digital storage into the same amount of physical space?
>He doesn't realize that they figured out infinite data storage decades ago, and they're drip-feeding the "progress" to us for infinite money
I mean, I would too, but I'm still mad.
Transistor shrink.
It is why computers have billions more transistors in a cpu package from 20 years ago.
Flash storage is the same.
Where are all the 2TB cards then?
really?
4tb? That would be 1k usd plus tax.
1tb sd card was $1000 like 5 years ago. Now it's less than $100.
Storage gets cheap really fast.
>SD card
>"high writing and transfer speeds"
Put two of them in a PSP
>HC
Good luck.
Weirdly enough PSP supports at least 1TB even with stock firmware. I doubt it can get all the way to 8tb but it's worth trying.
The largest MS Pro Duo cards ever made were 32GB so god knows why the frick Sony built support for any of this.
I have this. Around 2016 one 30 and one 60 gb card costed me like 50 eur (around the same in usd) the addapter was something like 3.50 tho and now I could get like 250+gb single card for like 25 eur. The price drops are wild. I remember the first 2gb MS card i got for psp being like 25 eur in 2008
>8k video
Meanwhile AMD can't even play fricking 8k video yet.
Guys, are those slow but extremely cheap ssds on aliexpress for real?
16tb for less than $20 is insane even if they are very slow.
No, they are like 4gb ones code cracked to simulate showing up on pc as 16tb, they are just gonna crash if you put stuff on them.
How come no one reports them? Does chinkexpress allow scams?
Chinkexpress makes money from scams, chinks dont care that some westoid gets fricked, they dont have laws for that. So buy chinkshit carefully.
There is nobody who really cares.
Chinks love to scam people and their government allows them to do it. It is why you see all those clone emulation boxes on aliiexpress. The ones that come with every rom. Even back in the day they were bootlegging NES carts with 500 in 1 NES carts.
It is why if you are a company you have to have an air tight hold on your schematics. They steal and cheat you at every turn.
Just don't do it anon
This guy is correct.
Chinks do night runs of the SSDs and hack the firmware to report higher capacity values.
What you are really getting is a 128gb SD card in a holder.
lmao who the frick still uses those?
People with mid-tier cameras
Mobile phones for expanding space
Samsung and Apple both don't support them on modern phones, and I hope you're not using an off brand.
My 2 years old Samsung phone still does have slot for SD cards tho? Have they taken that too just like the earphone plugs?
Samsung only has that slot and the earphone jack on their cheaper phones nowadays
Why would I need a phone that costs like 1k when the next best thing has actually the same features for less price minus some gay ass stylus. (Plus SD card slot now i guess)
The S20 series was the last with a SD card slot.
Portable emulators.
Steam Deck.
Nintendo Switch.
Mobile phones.
Professional cameras.
don't forget what they took from you
>took
I only buy phones that still have it. Ironically 'high end' phones dont, but 'low/mid' ones do.
It's because internal storage is faster, and Android homosexualry in regards to application permissions on SD have only gotten worse.
that and they'd rather charge you exorbitant prices for storage instead of offering an SD card slot
When are we getting those fricking etched crystals the size of a sugar grain that hold like 20TB of some shit. It's been like 5 years at least since that was announced
i don't think it really existed in a usable form.
As in they could do it. But it had so low a success rate, that it could only be done inside lab conditions and would not work anywhere out of that setting.
Most of the time those announcements are invester/grant baiting.
>Fund us, we are making the future
Just looked it up, kek looks like they "announced" it a couple of times so you're right on it likely be investor bait. Also seems it's only really good for archiving.
