I have my original consoles and copies, plus a crt. I also bought a bunch of stuff for cheap before the retro trend. if emulating is your only option it's understandable, but playing on original hardware is always superior.
Not op - but i emulate on a CRT at 240p.
I have all the consoles, even a neogeo cabinet (4slot), but there's no point in using them when i have everything running flawlessly via a single system.
Just last week, I had a few issues playing Sonic Unleashed on Xenia. Egregious texture filtering in Mazuri plus a lot of frame dips. I tried Sonic 06 for a laugh and the audio lagged. Also tried RPCS3 and 3D Dot Game Heroes, and it crashes consistently after awakening at the inn on the subsequent loading screen. Given how unstable gen 7 emulation has been for me, I don't have much hope for the eventual PS4 emulator.

ps4 is an x86 platform. There isn't a need to emulate.

I've been pretty much a 3DS-exclusive and emulation gamer for the last 15 years. Now 3DS and even Switch emulation is so good I'll probably never buy a new system again.

i'm trying to play three houses on pretty decent hardware with ryujinx and the fps keeps tanking from 60 to 10 multiple times a minute
and the yuzu forks seem to barely be barely have developers on them at all, seems like it really is mostly dead

Playing on real hardware can be a different experience than emulating. Last summer I bought a Dreamcast and played SA2 every day after work for like a month. The system doesn't have any (accessible) online functionality or multimedia features, so there's an increased intentionality whenever I'd turn it on. No streaming services or digital libraries to scroll through or friend messages to check, it was a completely offline experience that was very refreshing and therapeutic. Unfortunately a lot of Dreamcast games and retro games in general are expensive so I've sworn real hardware off for now, but I'll always look back on that part of my life with fondness. Despite all the information the internet has, maybe I'd just be happier without it.
