Makes sense. Largest population of native speakers is just as legitimate a factor as place of origin. And in the case of English at least, if they used the UK's flag and everyone spoke with a US accent using American lingo and slang I'd feel cheated.

    >The USA has twice the population of the UK, Ireland, Canada, Australia and New Zealand combined, and its own orthography
    >Brazil has several times the population of Portugal and its own orthography
The only one that's arguable is Mexico because it neither composes the majority of the population nor has its own orthographic rules. Plus Spanish isn't named after a specific region of Spain like English, but it was the language of a region that was enforced on the other regions of the country like in France, Italy and Germany.

However, Spain almost always gets its own dubs which are totally different from the Latin American dubs which are often based on Colombia and Mexico, and it's very common for the dubs to use slang that is very specific to wherever they were produced. So ultimately the bust solution is for the flag to denote the place the dub was recorded in/accent it was recorded in.

This one has always confused me(assuming there's also an Australian/British version.) Yes, Mexican Spanish and Brazilian Portuguese are different enough from their European counterparts, but English is not in the god damn slightest.

      >American flag is English option
Yes, because there are clear differences between UK English and US English. If it's UK English, you get the union jack.

Ausgays are forever criminals and aren't allowed to have their flag represent any languages.

        >Yes, because there are clear differences between UK English and US English. If it's UK English, you get the union jack.
But there's only a select few differences. Gramatically, it's identical(this isn't the case with the other two options listed), and the differences are things like slang and other cultural tidbits, not really with the language itself. The whole color/colour situation is the closest thing we have to a difference like Brazil VS Portugal and Mexico VS Spain has, and it's not remotely close.

          >But there's only a select few differences.
The differences matter greatly, as with Spanish via Spain or Mexico.

The language option isn't just "alphabet and grammar", it includes localization and context.
A Spaniard will not relate to most Mexican word choices or memes.

That's unironically a good thing. The union jack and the flag of England are both white supremacist symbols, it'd be like having the confederate flag

Different regions use different flags. If you're seeing the US's flag, Mexico's flag and Brazil's flag, then you live in the Americas.

And if you claim you see these things outside of the Americas, then you need to name a specific game and provide proof
