Everything about this game is perfect except one thing. Making every single encounter an arena is repetitive and boring. I wish it was linear like doom 3 or even level based like classic doom with quick levels with a set amount of enemies. The arena thing is lazy to me, having respawning enemies that come out of nowhere isnt satisfying
That's both 2016 and Eternal in a nutshell.
The cinematic bullshit, platforming, "RPG mechanics" and FUCKING CUTSCENES EVERYWHERE dig them into even deeper hole.
The total lack of MODDING TOOLS, in a game made by "iD" and published by Bethesda, is the final nail.
2016 has more random enemies between the arbitrary battle arenas, and even the arenas themselves are not as rigidly fenced off as in Eternal.
Why doesnt he just glorykill him? I dont get it? Is he trying to show everyone you HAVE to glorykill him like its a bad thing?
>Is he trying to show everyone you HAVE to glorykill him like its a bad thing?
Probably, because people constantly claim you don't have to use glory kills (you do) which is in response to a valid complaint that having to watch the same animation 5000 times per playthrough is total fucking trash
You have to glory kill bosses, yeah.
He is a disingenuous retard
This is a boss version of the enemy which can only be killed by glory kills. Normal version of the enemy can be killed in any way you like
>can only be killed by glory kills.
ok, so you do have to use it then.
>I wish [POPULAR GAME] wasn't like this
Many such cases, yet no soul ever asked
They added some segments in the blood swamp with super heavies with fog, but generally you are correct. Never played DLC2 though.
The game is literally based on arenas. There are some non-arena encounters but they’re very brief and not satisfying. You literally can’t like everything in the game except for arenas because everything in the game, every system is built to support arena combat.
Oh, and if you look at modern wads, a lot of them use the same or similar design, they try to limit your movement to one room by different tricks. Sometimes the exit is timed, sometimes it’s guarded by a spawned wall of Barons, sometimes you need to press a button guarded by a Cybrdemon. Turns out, arena design is… le good?
My main two gripes with the game is that mods overshadow the primary fire and cooldowns are gay and they should've been meters filled with kills/damage
I just dislike how as I progress through the campaign I see stuff unlocking for multiplayer, which I'll never play
>Like doom 3
>enemies spawning out of thin air in shitty old game: good
>enemies doing the same thing in a new good game is bad
What did he mean by this
New thing bad
>all doors get blocked
>audio log starts playing
>THE DEMONS KILLRAPE EVERYTHING EXCEPT HIM, THE GIGACHAD MEGACOCK DOOMSLAYER, THE COOLEST moron IN THE WHOLE WORLD EVER
>shoot imp with 5920672 different weapons in one second (he will dodge otherwise)
>get 1 bullet back
>imp shits and pisses and cums
>HOLY SHIT I JUST GOT DESTROYED BY THE GIGACHAD MEGACOCK ULTRAKEK DOOMSLAYER, THE COOLEST moron IN THE WHOLE WORLD EVER, SAVE ME moronMAYKER
2016 was better about having mission variety
Eternal was just a fucking slog of the devs being too high on the success of 2016 to realize they were making it shittier and probably focused on making the multiplayer good first and design the single player to feed into the multiplayer, which is why Eternal's campaign is all about gay ass arena fights because it simulates the retarded multiplayer mode
>2016 was better about having mission variety
2016 is Brutal Doom 3 and it liked by rubes
>omg it’s so brown and red and brutal
somebody post the pasta, you know the one
That was legit the best thing out of this game
The speed at how I got bored and forgot about it is fucking incredible considering how much I loved it initially. I'm not sure myself if I regret spending money on it or not
2. Nekravol Pt. 2
3. UAC Atlantica
4. Final Sin
1. Super Gore Nest
2. The Blood Swamps
3. Nekravol (fuck off devs its one level)
4. UAC Atlantica
>the level where you can't see anything
I like the foggy parts as well
Blood Swamps has god tier level design and combat flow, the split path offers up two completely unique experiences as far as combat goes, the wolf one plays in a way no other encounter in the game does.
The atmosphere is just great. Honestly its the best level in the game, the 2 big arena fights are really great too, the boss isn't particularly special but a pretty fun finish to a great level.
It’s also a very cool and different take on hell, gets away from tired “lava and brimstone” theme. Love the weird exploding plants and giant mosquitoes flying around.
>Love the weird exploding plants and giant mosquitoes flying around.
Same, forgot to mention those, they're another part that makes traversing the level feel like a different experience to the main game. Honestly everything about the level is just impressive to me, it has so many memorable and unique combat encounters. It's god tier level design.
I love how its the introduction of the spirit enemy as well, another thing that makes you think about combat differently. It's just such a great fucking level.
I even love the final cutscene, that palate cleanser visually of that final area great, my one complaint would be that I wish we just got to run around in that place some instead of it being a cutscene, having that tower above you the entire level with the partially blue sky above it is real cool.
The alien structure of Ingmore Sanctum looming ominously over the decaying castles is really damn cool, yeah. Looks like they took inspiration from Wayne Barlowe. More video games should do that!
1. Blood Swamp
2. The Holt.
3. Mars Core ML
4. Super Gore Nest ML
The second worst mission in the base game
Worst mission in the entire game including all the DLCs
Not counting Sentinel Prime obviously
>good boss at the end
how could you not like it?
SGN, Mars Core, and Nekravol II obliterate it
I pity anyone who cares about this shit in this game
>good boss at the end
Worst, most piss easy boss in the whole game. I was able to beat it on my first try in my blind Nightmare playthrough (and at that time I blew ass at the game)
>hating doom hunter base
Worst opinion on Earth
The first big fight is by far the best one in the first half of the game
NTA, but Urdak has the best ambient music, not necessarily combat tracks.
I beat her first try without breaking a sweat every time except for my (successful) UNM run, where I somehow managed to almost die to her.
>first big fight of DHB
I died an embarrassing amount of times in it… In UNM, I used to de-gun the one of the first two Revs and just grind Flaming hook mastery.
Wow, that sure sounds like skill issue
>either of those levels worse than exultia, doom hunter base with its terrible platforming or hell on earth when you have basically no weapons
I love Doom Hunter Based. Platforming is easy and it has absolutely killer aesthetic. Polished metal, orange beams and you assemble your own boss as you traverse it. The only negative is that there’s only one real big fight in it before the boss and it’s in the beginning.
>People still mad about this years later, when the devs gayry was so fucking huge things went into normies news feeds and the game itself has been legit dead for more than a full year
The only thing I will never drop being mad about is the """multiplayer"""
These fucks should had been jailed for trying to push that shit like it was a good idea
Yeah, even Doom3 is a better Doom game than 16/shiternal. Don't know where they got the idea that Doom was about being a wave-arena shooter with blocked off area that opens when you kill all the enemys. The original Doom(s) never were like this but somehow they made people believe this is back to the roots, while in reality they have strayed away from the originals farther than ever.
>Everyone bitches about the Marauder
>No one mentions how cancer the Archvile is
Fuck this summoning moron
To defeat the arch-vile, shoot it until it dies
>Chainsaw for magic ammo
They couldn't make it like the first doom, coz that would require designing clever levels and encounters, and traps etc.
reminder: there are e-celebs who claim DOOM ETERNAL "invented weapon switching" and their zoomer audience parrots this on 4chinz
>NOOO MY HECKIN VERTICALLY LOCKED PIXEL SHOOTER
get with the times gramps
playing this game made in the mdoern west might be the dumbest shit i have seen, even gacha players are better and i ain't touching botch of them.
