let's not pretend this game "explored" anything. the writing was childish bullshit. the game was okay though
its a video game, not a dissertation
then it was not, indeed, pearls before swine
All I remember from that game was that it was *press Q to win*
>Stop wanting your media to be high quality
You're a blight
Tsmt
Rest in peace big rizzle
Yeah, rip.
Anon isn't wrong. The game's atmosphere, themes and setting are great and the gameplay is fun once or twice but its story and writing are meh. It presents a couple of interesting concepts/dilemmas without even really touching on them, and the conspiracy stuff is pretty basic as other anons have said. It 'explores' nothing. It's well-made but just not very deep.
The ambience is top-notch though, if you're into that.
If only they could have done it in a way that made consistent sense with the existing universe.
this. The game wasn't BAD (in my opinion), and it did explore some themes which is more than 90% of the market but it's the most basic b***h daddies first transhumanism/conspiracy theories but with racism allegories. See:
Deus Ex talks about the fricking tri-lateral commission, classical and enlightenment philosophers, it invokes every conspiracy theory and fringe believe under the sun because that was the point of the game the central thesis: "what if every conspiracy theory was true?". It did wild shit like have the terrorist mcbaddies turn out to be nuanced and right on some points, it asked you whether it was better for the good people to leave a bad organization out of protest or to stand their ground. You get in a fricking debate with a random Austrailian-Chinese bartender about rhetoric and propoganda. Every npc is a dispenser of some kind of fricking nonsense and talks at you like a philosophy major but that's a FEATURE, not a bug. The whole point is to give you something to CHEW on, to make you question what is right and wrong and why it is.
Meanwhile the deepest thing to come out of HR was ADDAAAAAAAAAM
THE FRUIT FLIES ADAM
THE FRICKING FRUIT FLIES
it was a reboot. you already got a sequel to the original.
Isn't Deus Ex HR a prequel?
No we didnt
this game sucks
why do I keep seeing people trying to revisionism it
Almost impossible for a prequel, and I've never seen it with a videogame.
In fact in all of history I've only ever seen two prequels that didn't retcons elements of the original and felt very thematically and tonally consistent
HR isn't really a bad case though, if you read the DX bible some things (like an aug apartheid) fit pretty well
>explores transhumanism in the shallowest way possible
>explores transhumanism and its social implications
you literally picked a button from one of 3 consoles at the very end of the game that told the rest of humanity what they should think about augs
or a secret 4th button you activate by talking to an NPC like 10 minutes before you reach the ending where you just blow it all up and don't have an ending
>mad cause he will never be jensen
>where to find praxis for higher test
>picrel
but hbomber thinks the new deus ex is okay?
It's a good thing when games teach people these complex topics OP.
For example, Pal-World, a game for children teach them things like slavery and animal abuse.
The message was clearly lost on everyone from the moment the first trailer dropped
>BOO HOO ADAM JENSEN YOU GET TO HAVE COOL ROBOT ARMS AND PUNCH THROUGH WALLS AND STUFF. I CANT WAIT FOR 2027 WHERE THEY CAN CHOP MY ARMS OFF AND GIVE ME ROBOCOP ARMS
To be fair, if I could replace one of my arms with a nearly identical robotic arm that was just as if not more capable than my flesh one, i'd do so simply for the convenience of being able to take it off and sleep on my side at night without the awkward arm positioning/arm going dead part.
>i'd do so simply for the convenience of being able to take it off and sleep on my side at night without the awkward arm positioning/arm going dead part.
how the frick have I never thought of this
That's a damn good point, now I want this too.
Imagine being able to cuddle without your arm going dead.
Just slide the pillow up a little and fit the arm under her neck. Pillow braces head so arm doesn't go dead.
I'm honestly not sure what you mean, do you have some sort of diagram?
If you were standing right behind her, your arm would be stretched out front over her shoulder. So like that but laying on the bed and you move the pillow to make it fit.
I get the 'arm under the neck part' but I'm not sure about the pillow aspect.
(And it's been so long I'm starting to forget how it felt...)
It's like chewing 5 whole gum. Now excuse me while I spam this gif everywhere.
>i'd do so simply for the convenience of being able to take it off and sleep on my side at night without the awkward arm positioning/arm going dead part.
ok I am now in favor of robotic enhancement
The problem is that everyone assumed they would be Adam Jensen, the one guy on the planet who, due to gene manipulation, doesn't need neuropozyne to prevent rejection syndrome. In reality, you all would be the NPCs in the ghetto with the shitty, rusted augs, and going through neuropozyne withdrawals because you can't afford the shot
Trans aren't human
Nah. Looking back, it was fine except for the "push button for ending" garbage and the awful boss fights. I haven't played HR in a long time, but I remember the writing being leagues better than the shit fest that was mankind divided where they tried to pander to BLM troglodytes. Prague was more fun to navigate than Detroit though.
and this is why the Directors Cut is the superior version. Sure it takes out the piss filter but at least you can skip boss fights
is there a mod to allow skipping the DLC in that
I don't think it's a bad DLC but it really does not need to be played more than once
Someone made a mod to put the piss filter back in too
This was one of the most influential games in my entire life lol. I was studying an Accounting degree when it came out and after playing it I dropped out and changed my degree to Biomedical Science.
>the implications are they're gonna make the super human half-robots ride le back of the bus like rosie parks!!!
>and that a software update will make them into a bad left 4 dead clone
Meanwhile in the first game:
directly namedrops the rothschilds and rockefellers, declaring them the ones responsible
plainly outlines that governments use false flags and kill their own to enact policy
declares government undermines the middle class to the point it disappears with taxes while drawing lines connecting media, corporations and government
points out government uses terrorism to control their population
Like the aug population of the prequels, they are themselves shadow of their former glory. The writing was simply too meta for people about how the government will force media to dumb down their messages lest something truly damaging gets out.
Also there was no twin towers in the original.
watchmen did it
If this were a webcomic we'd be complaining about the number of words.
the single good original idea Zack Snyder ever had was changing this ending
Damn
Filtered hard
>hurrrr shit game where's the gray aliens
Unironically in the bio labs, they are just fricking useless because they don't have any knowledge and objectively more useless than robots/humans
I thought the first one was okay, but the second one went for the shitty X-men type allegory rather than treating transhumanism as it's own thing.
Anyone else feel like the writing in these games is overwritten or something? I started skipping a lot of dialogue in Mankind Divided, it's like they have to spell absolutely everything out to you.
I don't remember that, but I do remember Human Revolution being amazing and being unable to enjoy Mankind Divided at all.
i really like HR and MD but the themes are not why
espcially MD which has an incredibly flaccid story filled with dumb dated references to real life
>explores transhumanism and its social implications
Doesnt explore shit, literal surface level writing kiss yourself chud
>OP is moronic
Many such cases!
GEEEEEEEEG, selfish little frick op thought vGODS would agree with his shit take GEEEEEEEG
Meds now, schizo
Reminder that if any of you guys end up developing an immersive sim, you're obligated to have a monitor with the password written on a post-it note and the first email you see when you log in should be a reminder from the building's IT department about password security.
It's a cheatcode
But that's because it works every time
its going to be 0451 anyway
the only problem with MD is that its literally half a game, and morons who think its a 1 to 1 race allegory ignoring that the weird segregation shit is because not too long ago augs turned into a bunch of zombies with no one outside the illuminati and jenson knowing it wasnt their fault
Surely someone would have put together that the few other augs who didn't frenzy were the ones who put off getting that chip update?
>Surely someone would have put together that the few other augs who didn't frenzy were the ones who put off getting that chip update?
how did the developers know?
man the posts on Ganker are extremely miserable lately. i expect a grumpy bunch but the past few months has been far more combative than normal.
first one had very problematic references to the rotschilds are criticized the UNs. AUG LIVES MATTER!!!
Remember when transhumanism was a conspiracy theory? like 10 years ago?
Thats not what conspiracy theory means
It's been around for a long time. They even have that political party Humanity Plus 20 years ago.
transhumanism
wrong pic
Deus Ex was the only videogame real enough to talk about
>Rothschilds
>Rockefellers
>Trilateral commision
>fema camps
>executive orders for a state of emergency
>artificial pandemic
etc.
The most intense the reboot got was mentioning the DoHS
Also how the EU was explicitly created to eliminate all borders between European nations, not just economic ones
In 2000 it was antisemitic conspiracy, now with the EU forcing members to take thousands of mudsllimes eurocucks are starting wake up
i literally just finished this game, frick you op stop stalking me
which button did you press
power button
>augs are poor people
Fundamentally stupid idea from the start
Augs are upper-middle class who buy in on the hype and get ridiculously in debt becoming poorer than poor
>only way to get a job is to have augs
>only way to afford augs is to sign youre body over to corporation
>only way to keep getting the medicine is to keep working
makes a lot of sense to me.
>if you aren't augmented you don't work
>but here's a ~~*loan*~~ for augmentation that you will have to slave away for our company for decades to repay
not at all. Your beloved ~~*science*~~ corps like pfizer and co. use(ed) to test bio tech in the poorest beings in the world (Ethiopia, Somalia, etc). Here it applies the same. Most of the augs are / were test subjects and most of them end up in total misery and/or with serious illness.
Don't forget the other coincidental real-world parallel
>elective surgery pushed by private biotech healthcare
>permanent mutilations to the body
>leaves you dependent on medicine for the rest of your life
If 2/5ths of augs committed suicide as a result of their choices, I think it would be safe to say that it was allegory instead of coincidental.
They used the entire state of Israel as labrats, and Israel is a borderline first-world country.
because of you i will give this game another try and download itAGA0
>start the game
>first mission, the super secret big boy projectg Sarif is wokrking on is under threat
>the project which all the alphabet boys are fawning about
>the project is basically Claymore mine you can attach to your body
lmao
>aug turns you into a hidden suicide bomber
CIA would love it, imagine the false flag operations
You can also buy the cheapest prosthetic available and stuff it with explosives for the same result.
isn't it non-lethal pellet explosive or something? Or am I remembering wrong
i remember it basically being a wearable form of those crowd control things that embassies have
It's lethat but can be upgraded to non-lethal later, I think. Either way, it doesn't feel unique or special. You can unlock it and Adam does a cool pose and poo poo farts all over enemies in a small radius around him.
A 30 second conversation between NSF troops on Liberty Island is a deeper exploration of transhumanism than all of HR and MD.
The Jensen games barely ever go into the implications of augs like 'Hey my employer kinda fricking owns me now cause he pays for my expensive anti-rejection drugs' or 'I was forced to augment myself to stay competitive in my field'. These things are there but they are not given nearly enough attention.
>The Jensen games barely ever go into the implications of augs like 'Hey my employer kinda fricking owns me now cause he pays for my expensive anti-rejection drugs' or 'I was forced to augment myself to stay competitive in my field'. These things are there but they are not given nearly enough attention.
Uhh apart from, you know, both games being about those things and entirely about those things
You constantly deal with those things, especially in side missions.
>You meet escorts being forced to augment by the pimp in China
> A scientist giving away the drug needed to keep the augs on the body to help people
>A gang in china whose job is to kidnap augmented people and steal their parts
>The first terrorist group you meet is about getting rid of augs because of exploitation
>Main anti-aug activists tell you about how they lost their loved ones be ause of them
Even excluding the documents, the game talks a lot about this.
transhumanism and its social implications
But it doesn't. It's shallow and boring and reduces the subject to a tortured racism allegory like everything else written by deranged leftists in the past 15 years.
>entire series boiled and flayed down to a half baked racism analogy
Libtards killed it but I'm glad it's over.
>rapidly approaching the year Human Revolution takes place in
>still no conclusion to Jensen's story
>third game set in 2030 comes out in 2030
ludo
Where's my cybernetic arm??
With all the research into bionics post-Gulf War I was expecting something by now.
>makes a game highlighting media-engineered social divisions and psyops in a year of media-engineered social division and psyops
Bob Page was having a fricking LAUGH with this deusex kino. The only unforgivable part is how hard Sqeenix tried to rape it with MTX
>Supposedly in a future world where augmentation surgery is commonplace, supposedly past the "oh shit should we do it" phase
>All the talk with anyone is about augs
>Even the fricking bums are talking about augs instead of thinking how to scrape by
If rats could talk, they'd share their opinion of augs too.
Even the books talk about augmentation addiction (neupo).
Has anyone modded Dude Sex 3 yet to fix the experience problem?
This game seems like a completely different setting than the original.
Its bog standard cyberpunk, even then the original game explores the themes of trans-humanism far better than human revolution did.
is this post in front of my eyes because of the hbomberguy video? i agree with the fallout 3 video but i dont appreciate this homosexual warpath he is on against acclaimed 7th gen games, what did he say about it
I hated interacting with the characters. Your character can't influence anything because it's a prequel. The race/immigrant analogy is insufferable and some people say it's supposed to be a narrative pushed from above, which would be cool but I saw none of that in the actual game. Some people also say that augs are a way to control people, which would also be cool, but you don't really see that explicitly outside of rumors. It also fricks up the prequel deal because very few people had augs in the original.
They should have ignored the original DX and made a fresh story with the same themes.
I liked DXIW but played it before DX and with mods to fix the worst parts.
Midwits get filtered by the "Aug lives matter" bs, but the real Red pill is just how apt the apartheid it depicts actually is. Makes Israel/Palestine look like a vacation destination
god i fricking love this series so much, going stealth is just the best. i make it a mission to knock out every single enemy in every area before moving on, i like to pile their bodies int he same place too. i only wish flygirl was heavily in MD but such is life.
The niggress with the nose ring and the steel long legs? Yeah, I jacked off to her, several times, while looking at her corpse
there's an important difference between Deus Ex and Human Resources: Deus Ex was a hypothetical scenario largely based on reality about human exploitation by elites
HR is about an analogy for exploitation, based mostly on Ghost in the Shell and similar anime
Elon Musk must have liked the game if he got a replica of the DXHR revolver. I bet he saw himself as Sarif.
He is on record talking about deus ex
Clearly he didn't care enough, or he would have paid the devs to do another one
Maybe the devs shouldn't have replaced Sarif's voice actor.
literal embodiment of reddít
I wish pacifist/stealth had some difficulty to it. It's hitman level design or "stealth and candy bars" once you've totally broken the game's economy.
Also you have to RP psychopathy to use guns with how often you're going against security or cops.
