Ah, I misread it, my brain blocked out the SNES part.

But still, a niche title attracting that many people in this day and age is impressive. I fully expected it to stay the same or shrink.

2.14 millions are the original LIFETIME sales, the remake got 3 millions in like one and half months after release, pretty sure that by now it has sold much more.

This. Frick remake culture and the morons that enable it. No fans of SMRPG / TTYD were asking for a remake. The request has always been for a true successor.

      >Play the original game on original hardware
Do you even own it and an SNES?
Because I do. The battery is dead so I can't save until I replace it. I use it to do single sitting runs for now.

        >The battery is dead
That’s a very easy fix, anon.

        >Do you even own it and an SNES?
Not him (and not defending that statement), but the scarcity of original equipment is one of many reasons why the death of Virtual Console was anti-consumer bullshit.

        >inb4 VC had problems too!
Yeah. I know, but the solution wasn’t to kill it. There were simple, common sense solutions that would have made it better. And even then, VC was better than owning nothing or forking over $60 for what is essentially the same game that used to sell for $10.

          >That’s a very easy fix, anon.
I know it is, I don't feel like doing it currently though. Mainly because I don't think I have a tool to remove the screws on hand.
And yea, I do agree that killing VC was some bullshit.

I played it, and finished it 100% within like ~30h. There wasn't a whole ton of content.
The perfect block system really simplified a ton of content, and the post-game re-fights were really cool, but they're one and done, and more like puzzles than fights, since they all just lean really heavy on a few mechanics. perfect blocks, perfect hits, and status effects, then you use all of those for culex 3d. culex 3d, once the crystals are dead, has ONE attack, that's perfect guardable, so it basically boils down to just shitting out your highest damage combos on him.

It sets up a really good base for future games, but I just know they'll never make another, so I was more just melancholy after I finished it, knowing they gave it a fresh coat of paint, were pretty faithful all in all, and NOTHING will be done with it in the future. I don't even necessarily want a "smrpg 2" but just ANYTHING in that engine would be great, it's one of my favorite JRPGs of all time, and still holds up to this day.

they "disneyfied" the game. More accurately it changed from being 50% a square game to being 100% a nintendo game. The fans got almost 30 years older, but the game is now made for toddlers

i can tell by the cutscenes. https://youtu.be/FtBFL8O6aAA I never had interest in buying it, i hear it adds a lot of QOL improvement but i really dont like the look of the game and i think the SNES version is more suited for its aesthetic, especially with the sprite emotions.

I played it enjoyed it, would and have recommend it to other players, what more do you want? The game is relatively short especially by RPG standards. It would take like 15-20 hours for new player that didn't play the original to 100% it without a guide. If you like turn based RPGs this is a easy recommendation, If you want something a little deeper or complex mechanically or storywise you aren't going to find it here.
