DoW2 has such kino voice acting and unit chatter. It's a shame the campaign is some of the worst bullshit I've ever seen in an RTS or tactics game. Broken AI half the time. Enemy units with 4x as much HP as you so you have to abuse Cyrus sniping the entire map which takes 2 hours. Thaddeus being fricking useless because he gets gibbed the second he lands.
ah, i forgot they were equipped with the panzerfaust. i hopped back on CoH2 last year and realised that even conscripts got a AT grenade now. just took like what? 10 years? but the panzerfaust and the AT grenade has the same function

i always found it too unwieldy for me. way too slow, way too vulnerable for its size and way too late to get them. i prefer the normal medium tank destroyer. that one can still fight every form of tank
i've always been in love with the idea of anti infantry infantry. even more so if they're not heavy infantry because at that point, it's the end all be all which makes it not as much fun. they've also got kino lines which makes it even better

first is from the normal germans and the second is from the obercommandos. The first has good infantry boost and mortar strike the second has good veterancy unlokcs like 5 squads and an STG but his debuff abilities aren't great
Practically every unit from Battle Realms. They had this chunkiness to them and you had to individually train them from peasants so each one was valuable. Also, that seamless choice between good and evil in the campaign at the very start.
the third thing for the oberkommando West first building. Allows your units to fall back to its location and not your spawn. useful but it makes it so any reinforcement from this building is slowed (to something around 60% I'd say). One of if not the only upgrade with a downside

The perk/ curse of the Ober is the fact you have to turn trucks into buildings : it allows you to park your unit prod buildings wherevever you want so you could park this truck next to a star point and then enable retreat from here. It makes you avoid having to make you unit walk from the spawn all over again

You can also use a kubelwagen that can easily run past mgs and cap cutoffs, forcing the player to reroute mgs or invest infantry squads and either way you can coordinate its escape to dismantle mgs with infantry rushes

The long range advantage means it's the Soviet player that has to put the utmost care in engaging. If you get jumped at by conscripts at long range either you suck at knowing/predicting enemy movements or you overcommitted to a position you couldn't mantain >The T-70 is good against both vehicles and weapons while Axis has nothing of that caliber (except OKW Puma but that requires a healing skip).

Not only penals are an extremely expensive squad, but for a Wehrmacht player to lose a Panther to penal PTRS that means he must let a mass of infantry close enough for that to happen, a scenario that would never unless he overcommitted with a rush chasing vehicles and didn't have infantry to cover the Panther retreat

The T-34 is far more efficient in popcap and comes close enough to be a considerable manpower strain. Waiting for a T-34-85 can gives Panzer IV potentially several minutes with no opposing medium tank in the field unless the Sov player went for SU-76

If the Wehrmacht player is good, he is either aware of the enemies arriving and placed grenadiers in a covered spot, or he'll make them stop/take cover right away.
On a 1vs1 matchup this would be a disaster for conscripts as they lose possibly 2 entities. At that point the whole matchup is snowballing in favour of grenadiers
The smart Soviet player that wants to counter a long range unit can use oorah, break line of sight or smoke mortars, or even get a squad closer while leaving conscripts in green cover distract them, only for them to advance once the grenadiers turned their attenction towards the new unit, rather than having conscripts run on a field under heavy fire, that would be a disaster

That doesn't always work because you take too much damage closing in. The real problem is that conscripts always lose 1v1 to volksgrenadiers even in heavy cover

What do you mean? If obers fight conscripts outside mg range they kill them and if they go to mg range they deathloop the gunner(s)
The only reason obers can deathloop the maxim is that you don't screen it with supporting infantry. Spotting infantry gives any MG 5 more range than infantry, and a squad can't rush and focus fire an mg while going through vet 3 conscripts anyway, so combined arms shut down this easily
If you try to build a comp that has cons spotting and maxims behind, you have a very stiff composition that is hard to move. OKW player either flanks you or uses indirect fire to kill you since you can't push him. Just imagine pushing into obers with heavy cover agains cons

All purpose, reliably kills everything except the heaviest tanks but get on their flanks and they'll die like the rest. Turns around faster than turrets on most tanks. Lives and dies by it's tracks (don't lose tracks)

Against players you need to learn a few basic general rules. RTS isn't just about build orders, it's mostly about tactics, risk management, knowing when to committ to a fight, to engage in your own terms and having an understanding of ranges, baiting, hotkeys and coordination between multiple units

Soviet in CoH2 is overpowered as shit. They are good at everything. Even conscript can beat grenadier in a straight up fight if they get close. The T-70 is good against both vehicles and weapons while Axis has nothing of that caliber (except OKW Puma but that requires a healing skip). T-34 may be shit compared to Panzer but it's cheap and shit all over infantry. SU-85 can shoot from across the map and has self-spotting ability. If you want to see real kekery a ptrs penal deathblob can wipe a panther in 2 seconds and two grenadier squads in 3.
damn, i never thought about it like that. but i also never was a meta gamer in coh2. i just played it for fun. i always skip t-34's because of how unreliable they are to me. i'm more about surviving until i get to su-85 lmao

The long range advantage means it's the Soviet player that has to put the utmost care in engaging. If you get jumped at by conscripts at long range either you suck at knowing/predicting enemy movements or you overcommitted to a position you couldn't mantain

The T-70 comes considerably later than the 222 and is a direct counter to that. By that time Wehrmacht can pull out Pak42 and is going to get a Panzer 4 in 5 minutes

This is garbage, an extremely inefficient squad that only a moron could lose against. Not only penals are an extremely expensive squad, but for a Wehrmacht player to lose a Panther to penal PTRS that means he must let a mass of infantry close enough for that to happen, a scenario that would never unless he overcommitted with a rush chasing vehicles and didn't have infantry to cover the Panther retreat
The T-34 is far more efficient in popcap and comes close enough to be a considerable manpower strain. Waiting for a T-34-85 can gives Panzer IV potentially several minutes with no opposing medium tank in the field unless the Sov player went for SU-76

If the Wehrmacht player is good, he is either aware of the enemies arriving and placed grenadiers in a covered spot, or he'll make them stop/take cover right away.
On a 1vs1 matchup this would be a disaster for conscripts as they lose possibly 2 entities. At that point the whole matchup is snowballing in favour of grenadiers
The smart Soviet player that wants to counter a long range unit can use oorah, break line of sight or smoke mortars, or even get a squad closer while leaving conscripts in green cover distract them, only for them to advance once the grenadiers turned their attenction towards the new unit, rather than having conscripts run on a field under heavy fire, that would be a disaster

That doesn't always work because you take too much damage closing in. The real problem is that conscripts always lose 1v1 to volksgrenadiers even in heavy cover

The fact that its recon, has good vet/fire power and excepcional stealth means its great for proving defenses and infiltrating enemy lines. I love using them to destroy mortars and stablishing beachheads without your enemy realizing it.

use tanks if they haven't got panzerschreks, if they do then just fall back on machineguns + mortars

The same way you counter them with every faction, coordinating efficientky multiple units to drain the blobs through careful usage of cover and only ever engaging the enemy when you can do it from multiple angles or with multiple units

What do you mean? If obers fight conscripts outside mg range they kill them and if they go to mg range they deathloop the gunner(s)
The only reason obers can deathloop the maxim is that you don't screen it with supporting infantry. Spotting infantry gives any MG 5 more range than infantry, and a squad can't rush and focus fire an mg while going through vet 3 conscripts anyway, so combined arms shut down this easily
If you try to build a comp that has cons spotting and maxims behind, you have a very stiff composition that is hard to move. OKW player either flanks you or uses indirect fire to kill you since you can't push him. Just imagine pushing into obers with heavy cover agains cons

Vet 3 conscripts also have quite the resilience and the ability to oorah into the enemy and deny them cover with molotov, making maxims extremely effective, at which point a really good OKW player would have the reflexes to quickly throw toxic smoke to cover line of sight and soft retreat, or have to retreat

All purpose, reliably kills everything except the heaviest tanks but get on their flanks and they'll die like the rest. Turns around faster than turrets on most tanks. Lives and dies by it's tracks (don't lose tracks)

play 3v3 or 4v4's they're as casual as they get and a lot more satisfying than battling the AI
