>Final Fantasy XI/Final Fantasy XIV Subscription Unity Project (This Fall)
Crazy XIgays would literally hunt Yoshi-P down and behead him if he was responsible for a massive influx of XIVgays invading their game.
They’d just quit after a month. Imagine they’re doing a mythic weapon… motherfrickers from ffxiv couldn’t even be bothered to become captain in assault to start the whole shabang.
>The squadron system filtered them
I can confirm this. I love FFXIV and I don't mind grinding. But I have my limits...plus they don't have a weapon for DRK which is my main. If people have to autism to get the gear power to them. To be honest as well I sincerely doubt people would swap off of FFXIV entirely barring a summergay esqe influx. MMOs tend to be a commitment and frankly even an ezpz one like FFXIV will become more of a habit then a choice. Remember how long it took even people who hated Blizzard to quit? Much less the normalgays who just turned their brains off even though the content was objectively bad. Unless FFIX is such an amazing mmo that it cures cancer and manifests a person's waifu in reality no one is gonna completely jump ship. Hell even the WoWgays didn't completely stick to FFXIV and just dropped off mmos altogether.
>plus they don't have a weapon for DRK which is my main
You wot? XI has no less than 4 ultimate weapons for DRK. And they added a new one recently.
Two relics, one mythic, two empyreans, an aeonic, and now two prime weapons. DRK has a silly amount of ultimate weapons.
this
ffxiv is a completely brainless game that plays itself
i can’t imagine the typical xiv player even getting through all the nation missions
The only thing that filters me about XI is the controls and menus. I really like the structure of the game and the longass quests and level grinding. It's so much better than spamming dungeon queues
It's easy with bg-wiki in the background giving you the walkthroughs and which quests to do when. Considering most of the quests give you zero guidance, and "asking people where to go" isn't gameplay no matter how much boomers insist it is, that's the optimal way to play.
>t. subbed to XIV and XI
I don't understand this shit. The second I was called by rank in the MSQ I grinded to captain because I wouldn't tolerate the savior of the world being called private
Wasting your life grinding over meaningless shit is why you homosexuals are depressed all the time. You will come to realise it means nothing and you wasted your life when you could have spent it doing so many more productive, enjoyable things.
Why do you sound like you're the one coping?
Because you're projecting.
Mate if I don't enjoy the grind I won't do it, and time spent enjoying myself isn't time wasted.
honestly it seems more like most people play xi on private servers these days anyway, that being said xi is going to filter a lot of the xiv people who never played xi anyway
20th Anniversary Development Team Reddit AMA Summary
>Would you be willing to consider bundling XI + XIV subs again, like they were during XIV 1.0? Even if it was a slightly more expensive subscription, I think that would allow more XIV players to try the game with minimal inconvenience to them.
A: We would like to consider this for the future.
as someone who plays both and has two characters in endgame in XI and XIV, new players would be EXTREMELY good for XI.
Anything not high level for crafting doesn't exists, nobody uses the marketboards anymore, and there's nobody to do low-level BCNMs with.
they wouldnt give a shit at all I'd imagine. what are they are gonna do? fill up the dead content that no one does in the game? it would be nice doing not end game content with people instead of trusts.
>World of Final Fantasy II: A Mog of Light (May 19th 2023)
Didn't the first one sell pretty bad?
Square Enix doesn't care. The SaGa series is somehow still alive, Valkyrie and Star Ocean got a second chance, and they somehow afforded to get Go Shiina to do the OST for a DoA farming game. I've given up on understanding how Square works. Like, they pulled Ito our of the janitor closet and let him make a 40 dollar rpg that probably sold like complete garbage. Why did they do that???
This mean that Strangers of Paradise has a chance at a sequel?
>The SaGa series is somehow still alive
Because Re;universe is one of their biggest cash cows
SaGa has always been popular in Japan, you frickers keep forgetting that America is not their only market and they have several properties that are successful you have probably never heard of.
On the contrary. Game sold well since it was supposed to be an anniversary title. It was then ported to everything else and given a decent expansion. Also considering the first game's script was already said to be finished years ago, I expected it to come out sooner or later
>initially released for PS4 and PS Vita, ported to PC a year later
>a year later it was ported to the Switch and fricking Xbox One of all things with the Maxima expansion
>its original release on PS4/Vita it also sold 900,000~ copies, it probably reached the million copies with the PC, Switch and Xbox ports
I don't think so
apparently it sold really well. Makes me happy, I loved those two dorks
I guess it depends on the game's budget. And not to mention, their strategy with these "budget" titles is "sharing" dev cost with other studios (said in their financial reports).
Probably. They wouldn't tease The Emperor for no reason wouldn't they? I'd be pretty cool if SoP is turned into a Dissidia esque game (narrative wise) while the Dissidia games are designed towards e-sports shit.
>I guess it depends on the game's budget. And not to mention, their strategy with these "budget" titles is "sharing" dev cost with other studios (said in their financial reports).
I would say that the sharing dev cost part wouldnt be related to budget titles. Dont forget how square still has ips like Just Cause lol
You people should stop listening to Ganker, it's full of nintentroons from discord who always silence positive numbers of non nintendo ips and spam too many nintendo ip threads
You really think Samus is that known outside of here when Castlevania has a lot more games, characters and hype outside of here?
These last years Ganker is just terrible
Console war is so fricking moronic, now the console in which a game releases matters more than if the game is good or not
This. There is an obvious nintendo bias here. If some other waifu thats not nintendo get too many threads the threads are suddenly full of blacked porn while the samus and zelda ones you get every fricking day are mostly free of it
Funny how last metroid was made hy some western studios who also made that other castlevania, yet castlevania BAD
I love how those cultists say popularity GOOD but it doesnt count with genshin impact, lol, fortnite, steam....
Isn't the game on Switch though?
Not nintendo exclusive
This is some pretty bad fanfic you just came up with.
>Final Fantasy X-3 (Now In Development)
SE devs have already confirmed they aren't touching FFX again until 7remake is fully finished.
>not wanting ghost terrorists using exploding blitzballs
They better use that train wreck of a boom for X-3.
They also said they werent remaking VII until a game surpassed it. Do you think XV did the trick? moron

Needs to be raped by a gang of feral Black folk.
I hope there will be some actually good goodies to buy on the sqenix store
>Final Fantasy XI/Final Fantasy XIV Subscription Unity Project (This Fall)
Oh, now this is going to be fun.
>Final Fantasy XI Beginnings Rework Project (This Fall)
Yeah I fricking wish. Never ever.
It says rework not remake. In the New Years greeting blog on the FFXI website, they said they'd be reworking FFXI to be more comfortable for new players. So this tracks. The beginning of XI is incomprehensible, making it more accessible to newcomers is the first step.
Getting rid of playonline viewer?
Man I wish…
that would be so tight. I played ffxi again for the nostalgia trip maybe a year ago and getting my ancient account up and running again was a nightmare.
XI also sent out a New Years email to players that mentioned the team was "preparing for the transfer to the next generation" or something
So I believe something is going on. They are running out of PS2 devkits to keep it alive on, and I doubt SE wants to lose that reliable cash cow or let a numbered FF become unplayable. They attempted a remake years ago that fell through, but that doesn't mean they don't still want to do one.
Next gen for support purposes and to make it their answer to WoW Classic.
I would take a FFXI: Classic
>Final Fantasy XI/Final Fantasy XIV Subscription Unity Project (This Fall)
Vana'diel expansion for 7.0? Or at least not!Eureka?
>Final Fantasy VII Rebirth - Memories (Winter)
so what's this supposed to be?
NIBELHEIM FLASHBACK homie
SE is in the business of naming their game trailers now, makes sense that OP would come up with something like that
Somehow I believe you, even if deep down I know that 9 remake ain't happening.
>Final Fantasy X-3 (Now In Development)
>Stories from Ivalice: War of the Lions (Summer 2023)
Come on at least try to make it believable
War of the Lions is on the Nvidia Leak and everything on that leak has been true. The only thing unbelievable here is X-3
>>FF2 sequel even though SaGa is already a thing
Reading is clearly hard. Its a world of Final Fantasy sequel. Not Final Fantasy 2.
the nvidia leaks said fft remaster
im pretty sure the war of the lions was the war BEFORE the events of FFT though, right? or am i remembering wrong?
Is it a FFT prequel?
WOTL was just the "enhanced" PSP port with a new translation.
my point is that it isnt called FFT, but "stories of ivalice"
did they change the name?
They like to change the names for new ports of remasters of ports.
Tactics Ogre: Reborn is a remaster of Tactics Ogre: Let Us Cling Together which is a remaster of the original on the SNES.
yeah but tactics ogre is still tactics ogre
but hey im not complaining, i dont give a shit about a name, im just curious
War of the Lions is the PSP port of Tactics. Just like Tactics Ogre, this would be a remaster of the PSP version of Tactics.
the War of the Lions is what happens in the main game, where two descendants of the late king are trying to get their claim for the throne to pass, which thanks to the demons and Delita ends up in nothing
before that there was the 50 year war which Cid took part in
>The only thing unbelievable here is X-3
Not really. X is always on top of the charts and is a favorite in Japan for 20 years, also the first to get an actual sequel. I'd be more surprised if there wasn't a X-3 announced this year or next.
>Not really.
toriyama already said they're not touching x-3 until 7remake is done.
Imagine thinking Toriyama has any authority in that matter.
>imagine thinking the co-director and director of x and x-2 has any say in the matter
actual brainlet moment.
Its plausible. Look at Sony forcing FF7R.
>Sony forcing FF7R.
another brainlet moment
I envy your naivety.
How would this be surprising. Are you forgetting how Square Enix has an internal meeting about FF7R becoming a project and Nomura finding out in this meeting that it existed, saw his name on screen as the director and was surprised? What makes you think Toriyama has control over everything if they threw Nomura on a project he didn't even know existed?
>FF7R becoming a project and Nomura finding out in this meeting that it existed,
Which is not what happened. Nomura was part of the game from the beginning and only found out he wad directing the game at that meeting.
Sony for ff7. How would Sony force ff7? They don’t own them or even own a percentage of them.
Imagine thinking a mere project director gets to decide which games are and are not made. He does what he's told to do, he gets no executive decision in the matter.
>director gets to decide which games are and are not made.
Why yes, Lightning did get 3 games, why do you ask?
Which were commissioned by SE executives based on the commercial success of the XIII games. Do you not know how business works?
The entire lightning trilogy barely sold 11 million units combined, the sequels were more to reuse assets and the engine because they wouldn't have another single player FF ready in time otherwise.
11 mill is a good payoff when the sequels were on relatively short dev times and mostly recycled assets
This, the lightning trilogy released 3 games in 4 years, selling 11 mil is great
>the lightning trilogy released 3 games in 4 years
Man they did those games fast...
I agree, but the sequels were mostly about reusing assets to speed up dev time.
>Which were commissioned by SE executives
And Toriyama chose to make games about lightning and her sister. Trying to deny that toriyama had no say is pure delusion.
You're so close to getting it
10/10 retort
you're so moronic
XIII almost sank the entire company because of Luminous Engine
The other 3 XIII games were made in an effort to squeeze Luminous for all it was worth and make up for their massive losses after XIII flopped. Same with Type-0.
The obvious advantage is to keep the XIII team together and just have them keep going with the same workflow they had by the end of XIII's dev cycle, so they wouldn't waste time re-learning anything and just make more product to be sold.
Toriyama clearly has dirty laundry on someone, because he got a big spot on VII:R after almost destroying Square Enix with his stupid bullshit, but I don't think he calls the shots.
>XIII almost sank the entire company
No it didn't you dumb monkey. XIII was a success and got 2 sequels. It was XIV bombing that put the company in the red.
>because of Luminous Engine
It was using crystal tools you stupid ape.
>massive losses after XIII flopped. Same with Type-0.
neither of these games flopped you braindead baboon.
>Toriyama clearly has dirty laundry on someone
You have no idea of what you were talking about. Stop posting.
Sounds like he's mixing up XIII with XV
Tabata got canned for that shit. Or "Japanese fired" which is just making you quit.
what is this revisionist history?
XIII was an absolute flop and was received terribly by players
I might have mixed up the names of the engines, but Crystal Tools fricked over BOTH XIII and XIV 1.0 and it was because the XIII team kept fricking around with it trying to make Lightning do the moronic environmental moves she does in the proof of concept trailer.
To this day XIII is the cheapest game in the franchise second only to FFII and FFI ports.
Every single positive review on Steam reads "I know this game has a lot of problems BUT..." , or "I know everyone loves to hate this game BUT..." , or my fav "it starts with 20h of slog tutorial BUT...".
You literally cannot talk about this game without acknowledging how bad it is but homosexuals(actual) on Ganker keep pretending this VII wannabe autoplay garbo was well received.
You're beyond delusional and you will NEVER be a woman.
>received terribly by players
Stopped reading there. It made money, that's all that matters. I hated it too, doesn't mean it wasn't a commercial success.
moron.
It didn't make that much, certainly didn't make a profit, and day 1 sales are a reflection of how well the marketing department did, not how good the game is.
I bought XIII when it came out, I couldn't have known how the game was without playing it.
Don't confuse sales with endorsements.
The point of their argument was never if 13 was good or bad tho, what fricked square the most at the time was clearly the engine being bad and 14 being a nuclear disaster, regardless of 13 doing well or not. What hindered square for many years was other elements
and the point of my argument is that the reason those "other elements" went as bad as they did were the unreasonable requests and constant changes demanded by the XIII team which also impacted XIV development since they had to adapt to the changes as well, using the same tools.
No dude
What fricked 14 1.0 was just terrible management because the devs worked in separated groups without management, so when the game was put together everything was breaking. They also believed they could just copy 11 without evolving anything and it would work again.
13 had nothing to do with 14 being shit, even yoship says that
Now 14 being a disaster stopped the whole company until it was fixed, so at least 2 years
13 is one of the better selling FFs in the series, and it sold well enough to profit almost immediately despite the divisive reception.
Only Lightning Returns saw terrible day one sales, but even it was stated to have sold more than enough to have met expectations.
XIII did not "almost sink the company"; It was a big success even if it is near the bottom in regards to popularity nowadays.
Anything else you have to say is worthless because your entire premise is fabricated bullshit.
The part where he makes the headcannon of how 13 made 14 1.0 bomb is crazy
When there is whole documentaries of yoship talking why 14 bombed, mostly by bad management of that own team
>The part where he makes the headcannon of how 13 made 14 1.0 bomb is crazy
>When there is whole documentaries of yoship talking why 14 bombed, mostly by bad management of that own team
I wonder if he is the same guy who was trying to gaslit the entire thread by saying how it was kitase that betrayed sakaguchi and made spirits within bomb lmaaaao
as if yoshi-p was gonna throw half the company under the bus in some promotional material for his game
When you see ads that read "LONELY HOUSEWIVES IN YOUR AREA" do you really believe some fat titted slag is messaging (you) through Gelbooru?
Yeah, he wont throw half of the company under the bus, when he is throwing the whole company under the bus by saying how it was shit management and poor mentality that fricked the company
You are a genius
Did we watch a different documentary?
You're talking about the NoClip one (which nuked itself by hosting some GG reject not long after) right?
He's very delicate and doesn't throw anyone under the bus.
He says the general mentality in the company was counterproductive because they had gotten used to chasing the next step in the graphics rat race, and had forgotten about gameplay.
He doesn't say anyone was bad, he says they were led astray by market trends. (ironic considering he's officially turning FF into an action game)
Yeah but it is basically a good way to have a grasp of what fricked up that team, it was not other projects taking resources or focus of them, they had the best guys of the company
It was pure bad management
Conveniently ignoring that Square Enix did everything they could to inflate XIII sales numbers.
They gave it away almost for free in bundles and christmas packages.
I myself got XIII 4 times, of which only 1 time was on purpose, and I fricking hate that game.
I even own XIII-2 and LR, and I gave away those extra XIII codes they gave me, I think some of them went unclaimed cause everyone had it already.
It's a similar tactic they used to fudge around with LiS sales, they gave Ep1 away to hundreds of thousands and counted each individual ep sales as unique purchases.
Probably less than 100k people bought Ep5 but the game's sales numbers say it sold millions, which is hilarious.
Publicly traded publishing companies have a vested interest in inflating their sales, much like MMO studios have a vested interest in pretending they have tens of millions of players all will do underhanded shit like counting all accounts made as "Active" when 90% of them aren't.
>but i-it got sequels
>no it's not because they needed to reuse expensive assets
Dude, the engine being shit and 14 bombing were bigger problems for the company than 13 being divisive
>Dude, the engine being shit and 14 bombing were bigger problems for the company than 13 being divisive
This, regardless of 13 being good or not it wouldnt change their plans for the next ff
What changed their plans is having a terrible engine impossible of dealing with
XIII was largely a net positive for the company, what are you talking about?
>XIII almost sank the entire company because of Luminous Engine
Luminous Engine was the engine they used for FFXIII Versus which became FFXV
FFXIII actually uses a completely different engine called Crystal Tools.
What fricked them over was FFXIII being very expensive and using its own engine, Luminous Engine being developed simultaneously and taking a decade to get FFXV out, and FFXIV 1.0 failing and having to spend time and money fixing that shitshow and all of this happening at roughly same time.
How did ffxiii frick them over when it was profitable? Just because the streamer you watch doesn't like it doesn't make it a disaster for the company.
I didn't say XIII fricked them over, I said it was expensive and happened at roughly the same time as other frick ups which combined is what fricked Square over.
It was 14 1.0's failure that nearly sank the company. Granted, they probably shouldn't have tried to reuse Crystal Tools for an MMO.
The ARR project then borrowed all the competent programmers at Squeenix to get the thing out the door in two years, which is why you got two new asset flip 13 sequels and a spinoff game that eventually morphed into 15.
This. Square Enix has lost most of its talent.
Honestly I don't want them to make a game as good as FF7 at this point. I just want a good game period. No one is gonna top it in this era. They need more talent and better writers. I'd take a comfy fantasy setting game with the odd FF1-6 quirks here and there.
What? Ito, Nomura, Yoshida, Toriyama, Kitase, the Dragon Quest guys and the SaGa guys are still in this company. Heck, they let them do WHATEVER they want just to make sure they keep them happy. Half of these franchises shouldn't exist anymore and they still do somehow, why? Because Square needs these developers.
Ah. I was focused on FF when I said that. But your right.
They can't make a game "as good as" FF7, because they can't take the business risks they used to. FF7 was VERY out there and unconventional as a concept, especially for the Western market and would never get approved today. Yet Square put all their fricking eggs in that basket and a shit ton of money and took the gamble. You'll never get that level of confidence in their product again.
As cool as FFXVI looks, it's really just a bunch of really safe and market proven things stuck together. XIV does nothing experimental or ambitious, they just conservatively copy what was already successful either in past FFs or in other MMOs.
>FF7 was VERY out there and unconventional as a concept, especially for the Western market and would never get approved today
Bro it's just another JRPG.
>he doesn't know
educate yourself chud
FF7 is really unique with its themes and execution, did you play it in the last 15 years?
Just barret's character arc is better than 90% of any jrpg character
But they dont remember it, people remember brute details of what goes on in 7 then say how the game is just another jrpg
>angry man swears revenge and later regrets it
???
Exactly, you remember the brute details
because that's all there is to his arc.
at least pick someone that you can pretend has something unique, like tifa.
Nomura found out FF7R existed and that he was on the team during a trailer shown in the company. Square Enix is an unhinged company
He was part of the team from the beginning.
You're thinking of KH3
you're the brainlet, you think directors decide what to develop?
It's a multimillion dollar company, moron
>you think the project lead decided what to develop?
yes, you are indeed a brainlet
So who signs off on greenlighting the project, budget and development timeframe?
Both director and producer work together to do both.
You're not very aware of what you're talking about, are you?
Things change. SE also said they would never do a FFVII remake because that would be admitting failure to make new games as good as it, yet here we are.
>SE also said they would never do a FFVII remake because that would be admitting failure
Only wada said that while everyone else wasn't against the idea.
Nah, they wanted a FF7 remake for 20 years, the point is how they never had time so they kept delaying it because they know how long it would take
Nojima, nomura and kitase started it now because they realized how old they are so they should start it now, there is interviews about it
This, they know how big this is and kitase and nojima are reaching their 60s, better start a 12 year project now than wait even more
Are we all still pretending FF7RE isn't a sequel?
And they never made a remake of VII, they made an Alternate Universe spin off that conglomerates all the stupid bullshit from the compilation
Based Square making something new instead of wasting money and time retreading shit they already made 20+ years ago.
I'd shit myself if we got a new FFX game, it's my favorite FF in the series
Spira is a great setting and I could use another tour of it.
I would prefer a new story with a new cast, nothing to do with the original at all. Maybe star an Al Bhed protag who accidentally discovers Dream Zanarkand. Or maybe one of Shinra's descendants building a space travel project.
My only gripe is Spira is only as big as the narrative needed it to be. The world building was good but they wrote themselves into a corner for future installments as you saw everything it had to offer in the first game.
We've only seen one half of the planet in both games as far as we know, and even then we still haven't seen a lot of areas on that map. There could easily be much more. What if there is a whole other continent with civilizations than Sin nuked out of existence, or just stays away from?
>you saw everything it had to offer in the first game.
that's the case with literally every mainline FF game.
Which is why every sequel has been poor
>IV-2
bad
>Compilation of VII
bad
>X-2
bad
>Revenant Wings
bad
>XIII trilogy
bad
>>X-2
>bad
X2 is one of the best games in the series, frick off.
X-2 has the best gameplay in the series
>L1 go buff mode
>Autobattle
>L1 go debuff mode
>Autobattle
>L1 go break mode
>autobattle
>L1 go damage mode
>autobattle
>repeat till win, occasionally use tank + heal comp
I think you're thinking of 13
>XIII sucks so much shit that other games get caught in the shitflinging crossfire by mistake
Amazing. Not only is this moron talking about the entirely wrong game, but he's also expressing how terrible he is at that other game to boot.
>only game in the series where characters can get stuck on monsters during animations
LOL
that's your fault for running around too much with big monsters
there are some people that swear by 13-2 being good. I don't see it honestly, even if it's better than 13
13-2 was fun, it fixed a few of the battle system issues but not all of them, had some bangers on its ost, had a better mix of light hearted moments and serious ones, and had actual areas to explore again.
like it might not be amazing, not top 5 ff games or anything, but it was definitely enjoyable. still better than any other mainline game they've put out since astonishingly, which just goes to show how terrible squenix have become. if you didn't like 13-2, the series has only plummeted even further off a massive cliff since then in quality design. sure it has more '''quality''' when that means money pumped into it for graphics, but the writing and gameplay have only gotten worse
I liked LR more than 13-2 funnily enough. That style of combat really works best with 1 character
I still haven't played LR, I just can't bring myself with the timed shit no matter how lenient people say it is. I'm not gonna replay the game, or most games these days, so I want to take my time and see literally everything and do everything in one go. Ideally without looking up a fricking guide for missables in advance too.
the only way I was able to play LR was to mod out the timer and use a guide. Surprisingly fun that way
X-2 has great gameplay, and each following XIII game is better than the last.
Also, Crisis Core was pretty good, and so was Advent Children.
The After Years was clearly a lazy copypaste "soft reboot" of the original meant to pass the torch to new bland characters while assassinating the classic characters. The After Years is The Force Awakens of Final Fantasy IV.
At least they are aware that the game is blatantly ripping off the original, unlike The Force Awakens.
But, that doesn't excuse them for recycling like 80% of the content from the original.
I wouldnt even say Force Awakens was worse than TAY, at least Force Awakens the leads actually accomplished something, and some of the old cast did things that werent complete fail.
Whereas nothing of value was really accomplished by the newbies until the end, and most the cast jobbed out while only like maybe 4 of them werent being complete idiots for no good reason.
I want my fricking prequel damnit
I will be forced to play that X-2 turd if they're really working on a new FFX.
How do you know it's a turd if you haven't played it yet? You don't get your opinions... from other people, do you?
Oh I've played it, I've tried to play it like 3 times. None of my attempts lasted more than 3-4 hours. But if they really announce a new entry for the game, I will force myself to play it focused on the main campaign and maybe I'll even like it.
>Nvidia Leak and everything on that leak has been true
Scalebound was on that list.
I'm playing Scalebound RIGHT NOW
Yes? That lists includes games that have come out, been announced, upcoming, and canceled projects.
No 8 remake? Gay
Nothing about Forspoken? I mean, I would be glad, but come on. At least try to make it believable.
Forspoken isn't Final Fantasy
That's the most believable part. As soon as that turd drops SE is flushing it and leaving the stall
I need to call a doctor. I have an erection lasting more than 4 hours.
Its ff anniversary
Are you moronic? Read the thread.
>WotL remake
>FFX-3
>FF2 sequel even though SaGa is already a thing
OP please, i'd believe some of this shit, but the stuff highlighted simply can't happen in the next couple of years due to other shit SE has said before.
>WotL remake
was in the nvidia leaks
>FF2 sequel even though SaGa is already a thing
It's a WORLD OF Final Fantasy sequel, re-read it
Honestly the list is pretty believable because SE loves to announce a ton of shit before they even start developing it
>Tetsuya Nomura Presents: Final Fantasy Memoria
What would even this be?
>Hironobu Sakaguchi Presents: Final Fantasy IX Remake
Don't tease me like that. I know Square is too corporate to give Gooch another chance.
sakaguchi has been friends with kitase for a while, and through FFXIV has been getting closer and closer to SE and final fantasy in general.
Wouldnt be surprised that Kitase asked Sakaguchi to remake FFIX and outsourced it to Mistwalker
And i was predicting that since i saw the nvidia leak
>outsourced it to Mistwalker
Mistwalker is like three people, they outsource all their work to subcontractors while their staff is solely creative. I wouldn't trust a IX remake if it was made in that capacity.
I think sakaguch was away from square mostly because of pride, it is not like kitase and him hated each other
Honestly, everything here seems believable, the weirdest thing is a world of FF 2
>Final Fantasy X-3
That "3" better be Braska, Jecht and Auron, or I swear to god...
obviously fake, they're not making X-3, a IX remake by Sakaguchi (LMAO) and VII:R all at the same time
these homies get tripped 15 years trying to make 2 games at once, imagine 3
If they make it, it would have to either be about or after the X-3 novel where Tidus comes back to Spira as a Zombie, marries Yuna, then they get a divorce (real), and I think in the end she has to send him, and that's apparently all considered canon
AERITH, NO
Ambitious leak but nothing too impossible if we think about it
FF9 and tactics already leaked
The only new thing is WoFF2, which would be really cool
I fricken wish
>No Kingdom Hearts
I'm both relieved and concerned. But it didn't make sense anyway to have it here. That said...
>Final Fantasy X-3
FRICK. FRICK FRICK FRICK...That stupid b***h sucked enough wieners to get her cuck fantasy canonized. I sincerely hope our weeb brothers to the east lynch her. I mean people can't have LIKED those stories. Frick me the best part about Yuna's story was that she reunited with Tidus to begin with and "Yay happy ending!" Happy endings are fricking based. We can end the fricking story now!
That was the shit ending. The best ending was the low% ending where Yuna learned to move on with her life instead of mourning Tidus. The reunion was gay and hurt the impact of the original's ending.
I agree to disagree on this. To be honest its another reason to not want another story. No matter which ending you liked SOMEHOW its gonna end up worse. Trust me that no good will come of this.
I can agree on that. There's no story left to tell with Yuna. That world is done unless they want to go to someone completely different.
How about a game that takes place during the actual Zanarkand-Bevelle war
Nice fanfiction. Stick to shipping cloud and tifa

>Hironobu Sakaguchi Presents: Final Fantasy IX Remake
This is the only thing that could make me excited for a 9 remake. I trust Sakaguchi enough to not put time jannies in his game and not turn into a "press x to awesome" braindead action game.
Can't wait.
>Hironobu Sakaguchi Presents: Final Fantasy IX Remake
I seen it its just a remaster like final fantasy VIII you fricking morons
They already released that one dickweed
no they didn't they released final fantasy IX, not a remaster, final fantasy VIII is on steam so is the remaster, only morons think its a ff IX remake
the ffix the most recently released on consoles pc and mobile is as close to a remaster as the VIII remaster is. they wouldnt put out a whole new SKU already that just has slightly enhanced character models.

This series will truly be dead to me if this shit happens.
Barret's whole point is how he seeks revenge on shinra(he is right) but also blinded himself with an extremist point of view that ends up thinking that every person that works for shinra is just as evil as them, just to paint his terrorist acts as something necessary. He sees the world as black and white in order to not feel doubt, this is why he has the preachy attitude
He hides his need for revenge behind the saving the planet facade, ignoring how the people that he is bombing are innocent as he once was
This is like thinking that every person that works for Amazon is evil as Bezos, when most people who work for shinra just want to get out of the slums
The remake even talks about this when tifa questions him in the elevator about the innocent people that work for shinra
This was for this reply
A GOOD MAN WHO STANDS BY AND DOES NOTHING IS COMPLICIT
literally
>angry man swears revenge and later regrets it
with more words.
If you see any character arc and minimize it by saying basic events and conclusion everything becomes moronic, this is why nuance is dead nowadays
You can do this with any character
The man reads metamorphosis and resumes it with
The man becomes a roach
no barret is just a simple character with a very cliche arc that's been done millions of times before.
Can you tell me a famous character arc that you like?
i honestly don't care about character arcs insisting that every character needs to develop as a story unfolds is childish at best.
Yeah man, character evolution as the story goes on is so gay
homie if i want character development and evolution i'll read a fricking book.
it's a case by case basis and once you get exposed to more stories you'll understand.
too many morons treat character development as the be all end all of storytelling when it's just another tool that needs to be used properly.
Here is the thing, depends on what type of story you want to tell, there is character based stories that evolving your character means that you evolve your plot
FF7 is like that, cloud is the center of many things, his changes and reactions shape those events
And every party member in 7 suffered a huge loss or is dealing with grief in some way. So their development is fundamental for the game
Different than stories like FF12 where many of the games' events arent focused around your main characters
The fact you couldnt say a single one is baffling
Some of my favorite characters of all time have next to zero development. Conan the Barbarian, Vampire Hunter D, etc.
The problem with "character development" is that where they end up is always more boring than where they started. They always become more reasonable, conservative and level headed, which usually puts an end to their interesting personality quirks and their adventure. I like stories where the characters are more like archetypes that drive a new plot rather than being the plot themselves, if that makes sense.
For me just seems like you enjoy more concepts than characters themselves, and this is fine. The thing that shouldnt happen is lessen any tridimensional character to simply "he does this, that and it ends"
Not really a complete reading.
Barret before Kalm is basically suicidal.
You have to understand the context behind his actions, that mainly being that ShinRa has already won and has won overwhelmingly and completely. AVALANCHE has been wiped out already, it's just him, a schizo bomb teenager, a moronic fat dude, Biggs and Tifa.
Bombing a million reactors isn't gonna do anything to the literal world government.
He feels that he deserves death for participating in condemning Kalm to being taken over by ShinRa, and he will get his honorable death in battle no matter who gets caught in the crossfire, including Marlene.
The ending of his arc is the same as every other character in VII, that despite the past being fricked there's still reasons to survive. His reason being Marlene.
You mean Corel?
It is also a good interpretation, but the theme of he being the one drowned in a simple point of view to get his revenge is present in the whole game
Barret and cloud are such good characters
You're alright
FFXVI killed any hype I'd have for a FF presentation. I can't even pretend it might be a good FF game in my head because it isn't even a FF game. It might actually have killed the series for me which is probably a good thing since none of the games have been good enough since FFX. FF7r had good aspects but it also had time ghosts.
You finally did Square, I don't know why it took me this long but when I hear that there is a FF presentation I now feel absolutely nothing.
Cool see you in line for Rebirth and XVII
You have shit taste
>Third Division is lead and staffed by numerous Ivalicegays
>Nomura is slowly gaining more power and has reign to make all the Chunni kino he wants
>On top of that we're getting plenty of AA/Budget turn based games.
I'm so happy the timeline changed to fit my tastes.
This is why I love XIV and why CBU3 will save the company. Matsuno is a god, don't bother replying with contrarian brainlet cope.
Man this is so not true
Hope XVI will be super successful so they'll be given even more room to do what they want without Square execs meddling.
I wanna know when the frick they're announcing either a March of the Black Queen remake or just letting him do a new Ogre Battle Saga entry. Reborn seemed to sell really well.
If matsuno is so good
why the frick was bozja the way that it was
HUH?HUH?
WHY THE FRICK IS DELITA ALIVE AT THE END OF FFT (confirmed canon in the mobile game) HUH?
matsuno is a hack
If XV didn't already get you to leave then you're a moron. See you in line when you inevitably buy XVI and every game after it.
>All games will feature more shitty devil may cry combat
>why can't we recapture the lightning in a bottle!!!!!!!
I don't know what you mean, it looks like they've hit on a good formula with xvi, have to wait until it's out of course but it certainly looks like fun.
I'm not ashamed to admit I'm a paypig for SE. Anything final fantasy related I'll pay full price and play day 1. Might as well just give SE my 60 bucks (+ tip) for part 3 now
There are dozens of us;
Thread theme song: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jobyb-H12CU
>not a word regarding Stranger of Paradise even to advertise it despite coming a few days after the final DLC release
Bullshit. Also the most believable part because SE are moronic and want to kill the best things they've had going for the longest time.
I think they were legitimately embarrassed by all the Chaosposting and tried to weakly lean into it leading up to release. Doubt they even mention it after the DLC finishes up
They weren't embarrassed by it, people misunderstood the reaction and ran with their own guesses. What happened was that they were confused by it and didn't really understand why people were acting like that because it seemed obvious to them that a trailer of "man who wants to kill Chaos goes to Chaos Shrine" will probably have Chaos mentioned more than a few times. But they also considered that since they know the full story and how it ends they're just going to be looking at things differently, and ultimately said something to the effect of "if people have fun with that then go ahead". They even encouraged people to count how many times Chaos gets said in the full game. The trailers after the first were full kino though, especially the last one and even in spite of going full blown spoiler regarding the first twist. Which sort of worked out and shows their confidence in the rest.
I'm just thankful for Jack's game bringing back AMVs
>Stories from Ivalice: War of the Lions
If this leaks ends up being true, then Stories from Ivalice: as a title makes me think they plan on doing Tactics Advance/A2 down the line. Ports of Revenant Wings and Vagrant Story would be sick.
>they plan on doing Tactics Advance/A2 down the line.
I mean it's about fricking time, it's a real oddity that those two have never been rereleased despite being loved by fans and constantly memed
people forget this is what originally almost sunk the company and had to merge with Enix to save them
Wrong, the merger was already planned way before SW. In fact, SW almost killed the deal since Enix was now worried about merging with a company that just lost a shit ton of money
How big is SE that they can work on all these at once?
Square released/outsourced like 20 games last year.
They have 5000 thousand employees but they are really good in not putting all of them in one project like Ubisoft does
Each AAA FF has 300 people and then they outsource other elements
Square is probably one of the best publishers at managing their number of projects, they actually feel like they have a lot of people
Ubisoft has 21000 employes. 21000
And they can barely release one game per year
They have a different work ethic and culture in Japan than the West.
It's more regimented and disciplined to deadlines and in the west it's more free thinking and creative at least it used to be that way.
Now I don't even know what the frick is the advantage of a western studio, they've sold shit for the last 15 years.
Sony studios are surprisingly well managed, you dont see them cancelling games or releasing broken shit, but they are the exception
And sony only has 9000 employees, really small if we compare their output and size of projects
Big
SE is not just a video game company, they also publish books, manga and anime, and their merchandising stores are all premium paypig prices.
They roll in it and are back to doing big vanity projects
SE outsources a lot of their development these days. Only their biggest projects are done in-house and even those require a lot of outsourced work. Most games they publish mainly have producer/director level involvement from SE. This is kind of how Enix did things in the past.
It is a smart business model, the smaller projects can have just the creative side being from square and having the rest outsourced
Nier Automata was like this, Trials of mana remake too
1.0's bomb was completely on SE management demanding it be released half-cooked in order to directly compete with a WoW expansion. Of course none of THOSE buttholes will take the fall, shit rolls downhill
Nah man, it was the terrible boogeyman toriyama fricking the 14 team
The problem of some anons is how when they hate someone they create all type of mental gymnastics in order to make the guy responsible for everything bad at the company
It is how when people say that nomura destroyed FF, when outside FF7R the last FF he worked on was FFX 20 years ago
If you don't think the immense success of Kingdom Hearts influenced the whole company you're just being obtuse on purpose
why do you think every FF after X tried to pretend being an action game in the trailers and TV ads?
>immense success
>destroyed
So it is his fault that other people tried to copy him because he was too succesful in what he was trying to do?
And FF12, it doesnt exist?
It's not his fault, I like Nomura's games.
But to pretend like his success didn't steer the company to the point where now FFXVI is Nioh/Soulsborne is ridiculous. Obviously he made square swerve pretty hard.
Look at XVI, for example. It's directed by Yoshi-P, who is a huge fan of Matsuno games, Tactics, Vagrant Story.
I would type "Vagrant Story 2 when?" in every XIV Live letter cause I knew he wanted to make it, and yet when he does get to make literally Vagrant Story 2 in all but name, he calls up the Capcom boys and has the game be Nioh instead of the cool combat system in Vagrant Story with a little bit of streamlining.
You think that's not because of how successful KH was and how bad XIII was?
not talking about cinematics, I'm talking about pretending to be an action title like DMC
you can go look at the old ads and trailers for it
the first XIII concept trailer is literally an action game, with environmental kills
The shift to action combat wasnt just made because of kh, it was a natural change in the whole industry, most jrpgs couldnt find a way to manage action combat with control of multiple party members, this is why only after the PS2 they startet getting more options
I like turn based games, but people also ignore how it was a style really utilized beause of tech restrictions
This, if there is something polemic about 16 it is not its action combat, but how you can control only one party member
>is not its action combat, but how you can control only one party member
These are one and the same thing. Action games mandate you only control one character, 7r you still control one character regardless of whether you can switch between them or not. Action combat is either 1 char, or reliant on dogshit ai to control 66%+ of your party, and the reality is jrpg players don't like either of these things. They like control of all characters, they like making them do things together, they like putting them all to work to pull of whatever their intended plan or playstyle is as a player. Jrpgs, most rpgs, need to be turn based. There's no two ways around it, and you'll see them either die within the next 1-2 decades or return to being overwhelmingly turn based/atb systems for this exact reason. No amount of shitty trying to appeal to normies will ever work
I disagree because i like 7R's combat and think it is the perfect example of mixing the management part of turn based games with action elements, i truly feel like im using the whole party to defeat an enemy
Something i dont think it will hapen in 16 even if its combat is great in what it does
Hello BA7RY you dumb spic
Not Barry or who you're replying to, but I thought 7R was a sequel
I mean, 7r could be going the moronic eva rebuild route.
>I disagree because i like 7R's combat and think it is the perfect example of mixing the management part of turn based games with action elements,
The combat system is terrible, it's just the worst parts of 13 with less characters, less equipment options, less abilities. Stagger systems are inherently bad, they make all combat go from every action you make being meaningful to 90% of actions you make being brainless and meaningless, serving no purpose other than to build stagger so you can actually do something meaningful for a few seconds.
And you're not even using your whole party to defeat any enemy in 7r, you're constantly just tard wrangling because the ai is garbage. We solved this problem SEVENTEEN YEARS AGO with gambits which allowed you to not have to constantly manually tard wrangle your ai so they actually contribute even remotely.
It's insane that people praise 7rs combat so much because it's honestly almost the worst possible outcome, it would be the worst if 15 didn't exist somehow that was even worse. It has no difficulty, by design it can't have any difficulty because it has to be designed around not tard wrangling every few seconds so that it doesn't drive away normies and worse players from being able to beat it, it has extremely limited options you will not get an enemy skill with 30 different skills in remake, you will not get so many yellow materia that it changes your action menu from one row to three entire rows of abilities, all the cool rpg shit is impossible in an action game.
I disagree with everything you said but if i did full texts here i know we wouldnt go anywhere and the thread would be derailed
But as you know, there will be people who will prefer ff16 and people who will prefer 7R, it is not a hard logic
By the end of it i will probably prefer 7R because i actually think the game has a party in combat, not a lonely protagonist with his npcs
Doesnt mean that i will dislike 16's combat tho
>Action games mandate you only control one character
Not really, many action games let you use multiple characters. Even turn-based games only let you input commands for one character at a time, which is equivalent to switching characters
>Not really, many action games let you use multiple characters. Even turn-based games only let you input commands for one character at a time, which is equivalent to switching characters
This is a moronic comparison anon. No, it's not 'equivalent'. Controlling every single action made by every single character is infact not equivalent to controlling a small percentage of actions of all characters and relying on ai to control the rest, no matter how much you want to believe it is.
Real fricking easy, lets lay it out. You play a turn based/real atb rpg, you can perform actions in the exact order you want, you get a character to buff, to debuff, to use an item then use an attack all in a specific order - that matters. The first character is available to make an action immediately after you're done, because in atb you can hold their action and in turn based they don't go until the 4th character action has completed. You cannot do this in some shitty ai controlled game, the first character will start doing shit you -did not tell them to do- after they perform the buff you forced them to do. They will not be ready and waiting, they will be fricking shit up and interfering with your strategy. Likewise you cannot perform actions in a specific order, if you do not give a command the ai will do shit instead, forcing your shit out of order or delaying it, so you have to just give them all the order at the same time, which will lead to the things not going off in the correct order. This means shit like tifa attacking without deathblow on or rage not being the last buff applied to give the best outcome in shadow hearts 2.
And these are the things that make playing rpgs fun in the first place, without them it's no longer fun to play.
I think that's ridiculous.
JRPGs got big in the first place because of FF setting the bar and creating the trend.
Going "ok I guess KH and Dark Souls came out, time to wrap it up" is just cowardly.
Persona is still successful being a JRPG and FF leaving the scene (now formally with XVI) has already left a hole in the genre that indies are scrambling to fill up.
Like, even with FF setting the trend there was always a ceiling to the genre, and by the time 13 released a lot of companies were already switching to action based combat systems
And when 15 was being developed the genre was already mostly dead
Anon, every single RPG aside from DQ and Personer are doing action combat. That's not KH influence alone, it's just a market trend that people want faster flashier instant engagement
DQ isn't even safe anymore, a lot of people are expecting action combat for XII since XI toyed with having movement during battle and XII is supposed to be "darker"
>not talking about cinematics, I'm talking about pretending to be an action title like DMC
>you can go look at the old ads and trailers for it
>the first XIII concept trailer is literally an action game, with environmental kills
In my opinion FF going to the hybrid direction of 7R was always the end point
You can notice that with every new entry they always tried to make the combat more and more dinamic and faster, different than games like DQ, i never felt the turn based system being a part of its identity
Even 9 was highly criticized by how fricking slow it was
FF since 7 was trying to sell itself like a blockbuster, so this doesnt makes any sense
The cinematic approach was getting bigger and bigger with every title
>after FFX
>AFTER
Yeah, it happens for everyone on every side. Nomura gets shit on like he is the fricking CEO calling all the shots and directing traffic. FF7R shows that he gets told what he's working on.
you can cope about it as much as you want, it was the XIII team that kept fricking around with Crystal Tools during XIV development
I don't blame that one on Toriyama, even I don't think he's that moronic
I do blame how shit XIII was on him though, he's fricking obsessed with this admixture of VII and X that just feels like the dollar store version of both
starting with the crystarium being the sphere grid, and Lightning being female Cloud
Lightning was female Squall in mannerism and character arc though
Right, the only similarities are the Ex-soldier thing, the opening scene where she gets off a train with a black guy gunner, fights a bunch of infantry from the government and then a red giant scorpion robot.
lol
How about the blonde dudebro monk, the gunblade, and the giant bug robot?
Sure, anon
It was the dark an evil 13 team plotting to destroy square by sabotaging the 14 1.0 team that did nothing wrong
>plotting to destroy square
all you have as a rebuttal is sanctimonious flippancy
Toriyama clearly thinks JRPGs are fundamentally broken as a genre and keeps coming up with the dumbest shit imaginable to 'fix' them.
Every game he directed is clear proof of this. They're all modern equivalents to FF2 except they're not interesting and they hold your hand for 70% of the game's runtime.
It's not about destroying, it's about taking over cause he thinks he can do it better, he has the key, and clearly he doesn't.
Just look at the Sphere Grid vs the Crystarium. Or the way you manage weapons in XIII. Or all of VII:R's plot.
It's so blatant and petty.
Like, i honestly dont care if you think about the team being good or not lol
The point is how you were saying how that team was responsible for other unrelated shit bombing
>none of THOSE buttholes will take the fall
Jackbros....
When do you think we will get a sequel?
SoP story wouldnt continue in a sequel, it would probably happen in dissidia
SoP2 will be starring Leon
That would be pretty cool. Set it opposite the main party of FF2 while Leon is the Emperor's main lackey, and loosely continue with whatever Dissidia shenanigans that get setup in Jack's final DLC.
And have the theme this time be Return to Paradise by Nat King Cole.
i don't even need to read this to know that it's a shitshow even if its not a huge lie, because squenix are incompetent and can only frick up literally everything they do these days lol
actually now upon reading it it sounds accurate, because this list is a shitshow in itself so its exactly what squenix would do
>only 3 games anyone cares about that would be 'new'
>more 7r shit everyone knows about
>a bunch of mmo bollocks nobody cares about
>a bunch of mobile shit nobody cares about
>pointless promotional videos for games that are already out
>a bunch of garbage ost bollocks nobody cares about
yeah this seems legit, although x-3 is not happening lol
ff9 remake when ff7 remske is only two thirds complete.. doubt it.. also ff x-3? i don't buy it but will act unsurprised if it does happen
>Final Fantasy XI/Final Fantasy XIV Subscription Unity Project (This Fall)

oh no no no no no FF14gays. we lost... we fricking lost!
>they're going to share their profits with the FF11 team
why not? They're already funneling all the FF14 revenue to the rest of SE's failed projects anyway
I hope SE moves on quickly from Flopspoken. That game and FFXV should probably just be forgotten ASAP.
>Hironobu Sakaguchi Presents: Final Fantasy IX Remake
Fake and gay
You forgot the announcement of Final Fantasy Builders starring Jack as the main protagonist. Everything is a lot more colourful, but Jack remains stern.
I'd buy that in a heartbeat
Frick you Team Ninja
Frick you for not making it run on a 1660 super
The 1660 Super deserves respect
I would give anything for Dissidia NT 2 but the only change is server-based
Legitimately the most fun PVP game I've ever played
I didn't like the movement, it was very stiff and sluggish compared to the PSP games. Always felt like my character was moving through mud.
Not him, the only real movement change was dashing being a little slower when compared to fully upgraded air dash, and that instead of having to do consecutive dashes you could maintain it but with it (and wall running) requiring a bar. It is a little slower directly but it's worth it to make stage positioning actually heavily matter for once, and the game still plays fast. Though if it were truly up to me I would have kept grind rails and the fixed jumps you could do, those really should have stayed especially since in the PSP games they were basically pointless despite how cool they were due to how OP dash was.
I liked the wall runs a lot since you could use them to hit people around corners and bait attacks
Is NT even still up? I thought they closed the servers a while back
Yeah wallruns are fun and they're the one part of Quickmove (I remembered the name) that stayed in NT which is nice, but they really really should have kept the grind and leaps and designed stages around them. As far as I know it's still up, I'm not sure if it ever actually used servers which was part of the netcode issue, but they only said they were finished supporting it update-wise.
In that case I might need to give it another try, I don't think I gave it a fair shake after being disappointed it was so different from 012
A whole lot of people felt that way, and while on one hand I can understand why at the surface level on the other if you embrace the changes the game is extremely fun and it works really well. And honestly it still felt pretty familiar to me alongside that anyway but I liked how considered everything was, there's some really cool shit you can pull off.
>FFIX Remake (This Fall)
>FFX-3 (Now in Development)
Come on now, at least make it a little bit realistic.
are they gonna release a collection like the 25th anniversary? i actually have the money to consider something like that now
Collection of what?
mainline game collection
Wasn't that Japan Onry?
i think so but i assume if they did something like this again itd be a global item
As an actual ffxi player, I promise you they aren't spending any money on ffxi. The joint subscription could happen, but that's about it.
They attempted it before, chances are they will again.
They already said how they would try to streamline the beggining of 11 to make it more approachable to new people, so OP' "leak" isnt unbelievable at all
The only thing I picked up from from the new year's letter and digest is that Matsui is likely handing his position and responsibilities over to Fujito for ffxi.
From what we've seen i believe they will probably rework ffxi's beggining and then make this project to join 14 and 11's subscriptions to invite new players
Doesnt seems like the servers will close in 2 years
They're going to have to do something to migrate the game to a whole new platform though. PS2 hardware is running out, iirc they had to get their last kits donated to them by other developers who still had some working ones.
Without those they can't do shit to the game and it will fall apart bit by bit. They're going to need to "refresh" it and tie it closer to XIV's service to keep that money rolling in.
Btw having 11 and 14 in one subscription would also help 14 between patch cycles
Even if 11 doesnt have any major updates, it could be something interesting to spend time on when people run out of things to do in 14
If they do it right, they could get the double-dip that Sega was hoping for with NGS+PSO2 but royally fricked up and killed both
>If they do it right, they could get the double-dip that Sega was hoping for with NGS+PSO2 but royally fricked up and killed both
I am so fricking mad
I want everyone at sega to suffer
I don't think they're closing it either. FFXI is pretty cheap to operate all things considered, and they folded the budget into the ffxiv budget anyway. So I really could see a dual subscription at some point. They just need to work out the logistics.
But what's not going to happen is
A graphical overhaul.
A new expansion.
or a classic server.
I don't want any of that. But I do want the UI to get an update and POL to get replaced and the game rolled into the XIV launcher or something
POL getting replaced would be amazing, but it's also difficult, which is why it still hasn't happened after all this time. The UI was once meant to get replaced but it was Tanaka's thing and he literally died. And the project died with him.
Honestly it could use that, getting started in the game is confusing as frick and unless I'm out of the loop, Square aren't linking to the 'road to 99' guide from bg-wiki on their website, which is basically required reading.
at least mention the ffx kabuki if youre going to try this hard
The FFX kabuki was already announced for a whole year
so were many other things on this list. you think they wouldnt use this chance to promote it?
promote it to who though? This sounds like a global presentation, not a Japanese-exclusive one
If the presentation is focused on global announcements, i dont think it would be weird
The kabuki show is cool but not only is super niche but it would also be japan only, the distant worlds orchestra at least has global events
>Final Fantasy X-3 (Now In Development)
I'd play it but I'm not sold on the story if they're planning to continue it after the novella. I don't really wanna play FF: NTR-3
Please god remove Nomura from FF. His designs were good, but he hasn't made anything good since KH2. Would love more Ivalice
>he hasn't made anything good since KH2
TWEWY was great. Dissidia was soul incarnate.
Didn't play TWEWY, can't weigh in on it, and he just did the art in Dissidia
Dissidia was his idea from the get-go, it was originally supposed to be a KH game but when Disney said no he changed it to a FF crossover. SoP is also his idea spun off from Dissidia iirc
I don't care if he spit balled some idea about fighting Final Fantasy characters, I said "made". It wasn't made by him. Also, SoP is shit
the mental gymnastics are insane
What mental gymnastics? "Wouldn't a fighting game with Final Fantasy characters be cool"?" isn't making a game
I don't
>Also, SoP is shit
Awful taste. SoP has been the most SOULFUL FF in years
Lol and I bet you give him credit for shit you hate in games he was barely involved in or decisions he had no say in.
>"He didnt make it"
>"yeah he did"
>"DOESNT MATTER EVEN IF THE GAME ONLY EXISTS BECAUSE HE WANTED"
What an absolute moron
This is the same type of guy that sucks sakaguchi's dick because he was an ideas guy and puts all the credit of the games on him. But when it is nomura, nah
>This is the same type of guy that sucks sakaguchi's dick because he was an ideas guy and puts all the credit of the games on him. But when it is nomura, nah
This so fricking much. And Nomura not only was the ideas guy, he directly made the project
Coming up with an idea isn't physically creating it, anon. That's my point. I said "made by Nomura" not "Nomura's ideas"
He did both
That's not what I'm seeing. No, this isn't the only place I looked
Sure. Or at least more than designer which I already gave him credit for
Do you know that even the Live a live and chrono trigger director was responsible for writing scenes in the original FF7, but people dont talk about him and i even doubt he appears on wikipedia articles
Trusting on what a single wikipedia list says about development is ridiculous, even more when nomura chose by hand the director of the project
So not only he created the project, made the plot, chose the staff and re-designed every character to fit in the new style
But yeah, takeshi arakawa should take all the credit for dissidia
I literally said that Wikipedia wasn't the only thing I read. The story, as I understand, is he thought a FF fighting game would be cool, some devs told him they wanted to make it, he said go nuts. I don't consider that making a game
So use wikipedia as your bible bro
He basically did everything a producer should do, but when the project started he focused more on redesigning the characters and kitase took the role of producer
Tokita? Yeah he was there for five months I think. Huge Materia, Yuffie's Limit Break quest was his idea apparently. And he went to the US to start Square LA.
What the hell do you even want? nomura modelling the characters?
He had the idea, setting, contept, plot, character design, what more?
Nomura learning to work on blender because he needs to do the character models in order to be accepted as a true developer
He did though. The Behemoth in VII was all him
You do know you can be an ideas guys AND a lead producer/programmer/director right anon? they aren't mutually apart from each other
He is dissidia's father
>SE will never let us have XIV, XI and DQX all on the same sub/launcher/account
suffering
>SE will never let us have DQX
I mean. Just this right here.
Remember that one stream that was dedicated to western DQ news and they showed DQX despite not even being in English?
>mfw
How could I forget?
They not only showed DQX's newest update with a fricking "contents not available in NA" disclaimer, and then had the gall to announce DQX Offline while making it seemingly intentionally ambiguous whether or not it would touch the Western Shores.
NOTE: As of right now, I'm pretty sure it won't.
It was def someone at Square Enix preventing it from happening.
Sure it wasn't the WiiU that launched 2 months after DQX did and nearly killed Nintendo's business?
What's the excuse for the 45 other ports not being localized?
DQ sells like shit in the West.
it's also marketed like shit in the west and it has been that way since DQ8
It would sell if SE actually gave two fricks about making it sell over here.
DQ9 had some of the highest westen sells in the series and if it wasn't for Nintendo handling the advertising it would bomb like the others which were handled by SE coincidently
Doubt it. The only reason why it sells in Japan is cultural shit. No different than when something like Star Wars would print money in the US.
DQ is so traditional and unique that i feel like it could sell more on the west, sure nothing astronomical. But the series can definitelly do better
>traditional and unique
Oxymoron.
Yes, it is so fricking traditional that not a single jrpg is "pure" like DQ, this is why it becomes unique on this market
>traditional and unique
Uh yeah, it's the only one of its kind left.
DQ's entire appeal is being a "traditional" JRPG. You could definitely find a western audience for those kind of games. You would just have to actually try to reach out to them and let them know DQ exists. Frick. It worked for Octopath.
DQ11 was a success
>octopath
Switch exclusive for some time meaning you had tendies overpraising it aks free marketing
Square can barely market FF
Look how 7R only appeared in 3 evens, 2 being trailers on random state of play
How the frick do you not promote FF7
Even Deathloop appeared more than FF7 in events
I'm fricking tempted to try and get an account set up in the JP version anyway since IX is the only other DQ that lets your create your character and I hate the DS
https://dqxabbey.com/pages/getting_started.html
You probably already have it, but just in case you don't.
>there is even a free trial
thank you brother
this is the kind of shit I'll never stop being salty about
DQ has too many fricking boomers behind it. DQX should have a western release and seeing how FF Pixel remasters did well I fail to see why not do the same with DQ
>le dq3 hd
Frick off, Octopath always looked terrible
I remember that they showed six games including dqx and dqx offline and the official English press release proudly announced that they showed four games. That should tell you everything you need to know.
Always dreamed of a Square Enix MMO group subscription where I could just play their 3 mmos whenever I felt like it, even if I had to pay that little extra. It'll be cool with XI and XIV joined sub. But X added to it would be be instant sub all the time for me.
Sakaguchi said he was working on a game but it's a dark fantasy I doubt that would be FF9.
Well, IXgays swear that it is the darkest, deepest, most mature entry in the series, so...
I think he could've worked on 9 remake helping with some things and also reignited his wish to do a next game
It is not like he would need to rewrite the script, we have the FF9 director working at Square
>World of Final Fantasy II: A Mog of Light
Bullshit, sounds too good to be true
A world of final fantasy that isn't kneecapped by the vita is all i've wanted after they added a sequel teaser in the dlc.
The only way to have coffee
It's like a dessert for breakfast
WoFF and Dissidia are such cool projects that this franchise needs, sadly they being mostly anniversary projects fricked their chances of sequel
>that isn't kneecapped by the vita
Nomura hate is overblown. He had his dream project stolen from him 6 years into it's development which pissed him off enough to basically completely change the Kingdom Hearts series to be about it.
He will have his revenge.
I enjoyed KH, and got arrested before I could finish 2. I have all 800 of them on EGS (I know. I'm a homosexual), but I have too much on my plate with being murdered at work 5 days a week and the backlog of 13 years of games that I just started in November.
Sakaguchi hasn't had the time to develop an FFIX remake to be ready by this year.
Believable until
>Final Fantasy Online:
Final Fantasy XI/Final Fantasy XIV Subscription Unity Project (This Fall)
It may just be a combination of billing like SOE did with Station Access.
that doesn't sound too out of left field to me
>No DQH3
>No DQX for gaijins
>Not even the fricking offline cuck version
>2DHD DQ3 is non existent
>None of the older games have been ported to anything but Switch, and even then just the first three with shitty mobile sticker graphics
Shit, been a fan since they gave away Dragon Warrior free with Nintendo Power. You should feel my suffering.
>woff2 is just kingdom hearts but with final fantasy worlds
>World of Final Fantasy II
Frick you if you're lying, that's the best FF game in a long fricking while.
Soulful games like this, Dissidia, and SoP are what keep me going.
>SoP
>Dissidia
>WoFF
Based. Goblin Princess a cute
Why the frick did they break this game on Steam? Also I would like a FF13 Trilogy remaster, 13-2 and LR were pretty fun
>only games i wanted was ever crisis and ff7 remake part 2
>gonna have to wait til 2024 for them
welp, good luck uh.. buying 90 forms of cut content from ffxvi as dlc
Like, remake part 2 was already expected to be late 2023 - early 2024
Clive's EN VA seems like a cool dude. The fact that he actually is a fan of the series (started with 8) makes it so much cooler.
>started with 8
not a real fan
If they do a X-3 will they retcon the events of the moronic novel?
Most likely. I think the reaction to that novel is why X-3 got put on ice for so many years.
What was he thinking? Was he depressed or something? Did his guinea pig died when he wrote X-2.5?
>Nojima really love posting his pet guinea pigs on twitter
Kinda cute, but seriously what the frick is this man's issue.
The FFX novel is weird because it breaks every rule of nojima
He takes fan feedback to the heart, this is why no one died in FF8, because he saw how much people asked to bring aerith back in 7
So that type of novel that just ends up looking like a middle finger to his fans is really unusual. I wonder if it was a middle finger to Square's suits
Even more because X-2 already brings tidus back
I'm still surprised they didnt want Rinoa to be Ultimecia but fricking decapitated Tidus like that
kitase commented about this, how at first he denied the rinoa = ultimecia but then he added how nomura and nojima also put a lot of elements and hints on those games
So even if kitase didnt plan the R=U
Nomura and nojima could've planned it
I can see they doing this on purpose, nomura loves this type of stuff
Nomura wants games to be darker. Also I guess they wanted Rinoa to always be good to please the puritan waifugays (just like Rorona is still a virgin in her 40s when she x Sterk made sense), Rinoa actually becoming a monster in the future and Squall choosing to be the Witch Knight going against his Seed principles just because of love is what made their story good
I hate suit guys listening to selfinsertgays
I think it was never supposed to be an actual plot point, because they would've done it
But seeing how many details rinoa and ultimecia share, like using the same body language...
Those guys knew exactly what they were doing
FF games are always full of these details
Like only summons being named in FFX, and Tidus
Peope might not like kh plot but nomura does this shit all the time, something said or hinted in kh1 happens on kh3
So it is impossible for him to do all those hints of R=U without any intention
Probably cant confirm it because of suitguys playing it too safe
Honestly a FF8R alas FF7R would be great, its format just fits FF8
Won't happen because I doubt any remake with the scope of ff7r will ever happen again
X was super popular so I could see that one getting a remake. It doesn't need one at all but I'm sure it'd sell well.
If 10 gets a remake i could see it being like the demons souls remake
Something just to make it kinda modern
If there is a new 10 project it would be X-3
The devs already talked about it
The remake would be like CCR more than FF7R one though
I had never thought deeper about this and just assumed it was to accommodate the voice acting. But it totally makes sense and my mind is blown
Those devs are very big brained
They already hint at tidus plotwist from the beggining
>Like only summons being named in FFX, and Tidus
oh shit
I can’t believe the same guy who wrote the first two wrote this same crap. It is mind blowing, like what happened to make your quality drop so low. Tidus getting his blown off will never not be hilarious though.
I hope not. I want to play Chuami's game.
>FFX does well
>square gets in their financial trouble and merges with enix
>squeenix decided to make a quick asset reuse with FFX-2 instead of FFX-0
Everything to come out of FFX that wasnt the original game has been tainted with moronic decisions
>new XIV characters in Opera Omnia
confirms this as fake
Why? That dissidia gacha adds even the most obscure FF11 character
Dissidia has almost 180 ff characters, and that anon thinks that zenos being in is weird
and the last XIV character added was Lyse, almost four years ago. Since then characters that got in over any of the other major XIV characters include: Rubicante, Ursula, Dorgann, Kadaj, Shelke, Braska, Reks, Llyud, Jihl, every single student from Type-0, Ciaran, Jegran, Enna Kros and half the fricking cast of Stranger of Paradise. If they were going to add another big character they would have done it years ago.
Tbf about the SoP characters. Team Ninja made NT, OO and SoP. The SoP cast are basically their babies/donut-steele OC's.
The fact Rikku from X hasn't gotten in before half the people you listed, is funny though.
I know, but the only situation where it gets too late to add a new 14 character is when 14 closes its servers anon
They don't add characters from Tactics or XIV anymore, only Stranger of Paradise characters and literally whos like Jihl from FFXIII. Tactics and XIV characters also don't recieve FR weapons.
>Only SoP characters and literally who's over XIV characters.
Based Team Ninja
I would love this because I think zenos is shit
But if there is a thing unrealistic on this leak it is not that
>obscure ff11 character
what one?
homie, that game doesn’t even have Rikku or Red XIII despite having almost 200 characters, you think those devs give a shit?
Red and rikku not being there is wild
That anon is just trying to find logic where it simply doesn't need that much
Yeah there just really isn’t. They would have added a Crisis Core character had SE forced them to promote Reunion, Angeal assets were datamines YEARS ago, along with FF9’s Amarant. Nothing has come out of it even if they had assets designed, they just seem to drop thing instantly and move to someone else at the drop of a dime.
I kinda respect the chaotic nature of that team
Making models for SoP's party but not for FF7 and FF10 characters
They just want to have fun
I think it's also they seem to at least have an idea of what stories they want to tell. And what moments of characters interacting they'd wanna do.
I'd argue a lot of the characters who just aren't in, the team can't think of, or don't wanna think of a way to put them in the story they're currently telling.
Yeah it is cool how they put who they want and when they want to work in the plot
It isn't just a game focused in advertising the mainline titles
It is an actual project
Aye it's clearly a passion project for those working on it. Still having to abide to some of the gacha rules, but the dev team are clearly just fans of the franchise.
Is it easy to get into dffoo these days?
Nta but gachas are weapons, you can play any character event anytime to get them
How israelitey is the stamina system?
They shit out stamina and the story doesn't need stamina iirc.
Only thing that you're locked out of, tends to be group content versions of events if they're up. With a 5 completion stamina/bell system.
But then they also give you sometimes SP versions of the event content to do as well to grind while your group stamina recharges
Nice, sounds good.
Thanks guys, I think I'll check it out this evening
Have fun. There’s a vmg thread if you want more help getting into it
I forgot that board existed, thanks
Nonexistent, Stamina is only for a handful of stage types and the game throws literally hundreds at you. I've never used more than 2-3% of my pots
Pretty much. If you're just in it for the story, then it's easily accessible.
Past story events tend to be in the Lost Chapters section and Intersecting Wills.
Be warned the game has no issues with spoiling plots of the games characters are from.
That being said, you could roll a character from the gacha, gear them out a bit and basically solo most story content these days
Rinoa=Ultimecia was always amusing, but never made any sense since Ultimecia was explicitly born in a distant future where she was being hunted by SEED from birth.
>was explicitly born in a distant future
No.
(This gives cryofreezing a reason to be in the game.)
>Final Fantasy X-3 (Now In Development)
I don't like this. They're going to make those cucked short stories canon.
>X-3 happens
>Solely to connect it to 7 and the remake trilogy.
:^)
Cool but where's the modern console XIII release.
I'm honestly surprised they haven't done that yet.
XIV characters shouldn't be in OO, because their already bland designs would look worse in OO.
14 characters are fine
But 16...
Idk if Clive, Johnathan and Phillip would look good in that style
Few of 16 may be fine, but you're right. Some designs feel like they'll suffer.
Crazy how there is actual changes of someone being called Phillip in ff
>Clive, Johnathan and Phillip
It will be pixel remasters on consoles and that's it.
>Final Fantasy XI/Final Fantasy XIV Subscription Unity Project (This Fall)
Too good and unisraeli to be true.
IX remake and WotL HD are definitely happening, as well as a 7R trailer but i would laugh my ass off at X-3
Oh I'm the same age as Final Fantasy. This wacky series has been with me my entire life.
>Final Fantasy XI Beginnings Rework Projects
single player XI remake?
I thought that was the mobile project they cancelled?
