Hi janny
Xiv is a cultural phenomenon so it gets a general here. I didn’t make the rule :3
melon crushers
ngnhgnhf may i send you money...
id play the FF mmo if you could actually make a character like this
you can but you need mods
nyahahaha
Final fantasy has never been high fantasy moron
True that! See that castle? Every citizen there is wearing Nike/Addidas/Gucci/Polo/RalpLauren/etc etc like any everyday modern homie! It's not fantasy at all.
>fighting robots and going to the moon is high fantasy
>knights wielding swords/lances and magic wielders
>undead, dragons and other monsters
yeah this sounds like something sci-fi
>anon never watched Star Wars where knights with laser swords use magic powers...
FF2 had neither. FF3 had neither. FF5 had one actual robot. FF1 had one actual robot as a secret boss-level random encounter.
FF4, 9 and 12 had those elements less prominently than most fantasy CRPG series back in the 80s and 90s, like Might and Magic or Wizardry, being firmly about fantasy worlds first and foremost.
That leaves us with 6, 7, 8, 10, 13 and 15. Less than half the series.
B-But what about baby's first FF? Final Fantasy 14?
14 is an eclectic mish-mash of all the Final Fantasy shit. It has literal parts of 3 in it, and those are canon. And the current storyline is basically a retread of 4 except bad.
Ok you've convinced me greybeard, I still think xiv itself in a vacuum is so far removed from high fantasy that the constant seething about modern-ish gear is moronic, doesn't take too much of a stretch to fit it in the world
Actually wouldn't mind if they'd lean more towards sci-fi like the late allegan gear instead of just going for the modern aesthetic all the time, the unreleased magitek gear is a step in the right direction at least
The modern gear isn't even supposed to be taken as a real part of the world. It's there because Japs go crazy for fashion and don't care as much about cohesive lore. The cope is that these modern clothes are Garlean but if you actually go to Garlemald you can see a 1920-1950s era of fashion consistent with the architectural styles there. Plus they also all wear coats and sweaters because it's fricking Siberia.
Frick you, I will forever seethe about SE catering to the fricking Second Life rejects that have been shitting up my game for the past five years.
I WILL SEETHE.
>I still think xiv itself in a vacuum is so far removed from high fantasy
is that a joke? XIV is probably the most high fantasy of the lot.
Anon? Your ultima weapon?
tech doesn't stop high fantasy. even dnd and pathfinder have aliens and tech.
Do they have gundam though?

I stand corrected, thanks for giving me another excuse to start working on my campaign
That's shitty homebrew, anon. dandwiki is full of it.
Your FF6?
>the unreleased magitek gear
link?
you can preview it using anamnesis
it comes with headphones too
I don't know what anamnesis is, I haven't subbed to the game in a couple of years. Just looking for a reason to resub
Hope it's not mogstation, I wanna use this on my sage
it is 100% gonna be mogstation, it was a korean exclusive outfit a couple months ago
🙁
Is there a name yet, a way to look this up?
it's literally magitek x
the id is earlier than sets released in 6.4 because the set was introduced in korea in 6.3
Oh so it's literally just this one outfit, not a gear series
100% going to be mogstation then, $24.99
single character or account?

first shadowkeeper, now this... oh my god my wallet. XIVtokens when yoshida? I want to get stuff because I farm gil...
Yeah, it actually is. You've never played Ultima? You don't know that Hephaestus in Greek myth had robotic servant girls? That's also without mentioning the fact that robots don't necessitate having nike shoes and modern jeans. Try looking up what the robots in FF1 and FF4 look like. Tell me if they look like apple made them.
Do normalgays really read the Ramayana and wonder why the Hindu gods aren't wearing jeans and headphones while they fight on their ancient high tech spaceships?
PS3 baby detected.
Don't blame these posts here because some ip nabber has gotten some peoples ip range banned in vg. Apparently a few ebin are known for ban evasion so wouldn't be suprising that they ruin others from posting for their own vanity.
What the FRICK is an ebin?
Zoomer for attention prostitute.
Without a doubt, the finest creation of the Finnish race
It's what /vg/ call their threads celebrities.
So, attentionprostitutes with no glam sense and mods out the ass, basically?
Finland is truly based.
ebin is how spurdo sparde pronounces "epic"
the term ebin originated from the exiled realms of arborea of the small e-girl race "Elin"
when 90% of the teragays migrated to ffxiv, they started calling lalafells "ebins" because they resembled elins
nowadays it's used as a moniker for anyone notorious in the Ganker community
What? I'm pretty sure it came from "epic name drop" when people called out other players in the thread and devolved into ebin name drop into just ebin
Yeah that's true, picrel is totally how kids dressed up in the 80s-90s! Prada iirc
post the cutest lalafell youve ever seen
NOW
What a cute flat chest.
It's poor and ugly people who can't dress like this irl so they live out their mundane fantasy online.
I wish i could carry around a halberd irl without people calling the police one me.
Same, that's why I wear plate armor ingame.
>Autists be playing high fantasy game called final FANTASY and dress up their wizards like picrel
What leads to this autism?
Mods and not wanking before playing
No, autistoids only play paradox interactive
incorrect, we also play Mount and Blade
For now onwards you will only get modern clothes and the gear that kinda resembles something close to "fantasy" will be samey gear with buttcapes...
>and the gear that kinda resembles something close to "fantasy" will be samey gear with buttcapes...
Deal. Sold. Get those bland caster robes into trash right now, give me RDM-styled casting and healing gear.
>picrel screams FANTASY!
jesus what a horrid outfit
Japs and MMOgays in general are isekai fans, of course they prefer shit like this which makes them "feel like home" than actually get immersed into the world's setting, medieval/sci-fi/eastern/oriental...
Inevitably people who dress like this can't get into the setting and are so bad at ERP they have to use posing programs to make "art" of being railed by lupins.
Y'shtola.
ZIVsisters. When will our reddit come back?
I mostly see male characters with the most basic ass modern glams. Tanktop, jeans, sneaker. Good thing I modded all that shit out of my game.
lmao imagine being this guy
>remove Nier gear
>remove mogstation gear
these 2 are pretty based and necessary! I must download them, frick the rest
imagine being this much of an incel
imagine not wanting to watch bawdglam characters made by manbabies/coomers while playing this game...
are you intimidated by an ass or something
disgust is not intimidation
>disgusted by woman's ass
Gay?
no, just aware it's a sweaty neckbeard, troon, or smelly fujo on the other end.
ruins my immersion and tired of that, if I wanted to watch an ass I'd watch porn instead
>muh immersion
are you underage?
>FFXIV is MMORPG
>MMORPG
>massively multiplayer online role-playing game
>ROLE-playing game
>ROLE
Is roleplaying prohibited in videogames?
but anon, all these bawdglam catgirls/middies/lalas/viera/lizards are roleplaying as pornstars and prostitutes. You can't ruin their immersion, especially when they jerk off to their characters
Bruh immerse yourself in the lore.
Glamours exist in-lore.
You're the one trying to break immersion by sperging out about it.
cope
>I need to cope because your argument rejects reality
Okay?
This is something Gridanian savages wear all the time. I've seen it!
c-cope
Why can't they make more sets like pic related instead of that shit man
Both are shit. Garlean organic armor where
Shit taste but gaius armor would be kino
I just want those uglykino helmets
Legatus armor is pretty much the judge sets you can get from Bozja, hell the two legatuses in Endwalker are wearing Bozja sets
That judge armor is dogshit. The shoulders completely ruin it.
these are more acceptable imo because at least it's allagan tech which we saw in MSQ and in the game's setting that allagan tech is rather sci-fi.
I said I'm sorry SquareEnix-sama! Please show me a valid source which is convenient to your narrative to prove to me that FFXIV doesn't belong in the MMORPG genre...
Late Allagan set was modeled after a striking set submitted to an armor design contest (the striking set is the original) and was a Metal Gear Rising reference
i need healing
I'm still mad about how shitty the caster and healer versions of Late Allagan are compared to the melee and the ranged/tank versions.
I hate that they didn't make a weapon set to go along with this gear.
If you play gunbreaker the tropaios bayonet works really well with it
This was a contest winner, those designs are always amazing
See the Allagan tomestone tank gear from stormblood and the mage gear from Swallow's Compass
And the healer gear from Skalla.
Brother, are you moronic?
"Glamours exist in game."
That's what I said.
You are arguing against a fabricated person in your head right now, nothing I said relates to what you're complaining about.
This is Final Fantasy because it makes me feel closer to the best FF in the series which is picrel.
>ogrelander
timeskip Ryne
Timeskip budget Ryne
there's unironically a non-zero chance that Ryne is a first-mhigger
You're wrong it's just an online game
>It isn't MMORPG because I say so
Oh sorry, my bad SquareEnix-sama. Better change wiki right away
>Citing Wikipedia
Desperate?
Show me the "MM" and "RPG" parts of the game then
>it can only be massive if it has at all times 10000 people in the exact same location
lol
>it can only be rpg if it's a wall of text simulator crpg
lmao
No argument, thought so.
If we use your moronic logic then CoD and FIFA are MMOs. You don't interact with the story, you just stand around getting gabbed at before you get sent off to kill the big bad. World interaction is even worse, can't even fall into a fricking whole and die or dive underwater.
>Limsa
I see more people in PUBG
Numbers that mean nothing because you cannot equip gear that isn't specifically for your job. Also stat allocation is not a thing (anymore) and you have zero influence over how you build your character. Fricking Street Fighter 6 is more of an RPG than FFXIV
Yes, it's all marketing. The game is more similar to GW1 than a MMORPG
>The game is more similar to GW1 than a MMORPG
zoomy-kun, GW1 was a MMORPG as well.
wait till he goes
>uh hur durr it wasn't
So I guess WoW isn't MMORPG because FFXIV is a WoW-clone which YoshiP admited, right? WoW is a... looter-shooter maybe? What's WoW then anon, help me...
>WoW
It's like coal mines. Just because you had many desperate people working on the mines doesn't mean it's MMO. Just like miners, wowbucks die because of the sideeffects like picrel
>WoW isn't an MMO
>the game that basically defined what an MMO is like for an entire generation, isn't an MMO
ok what's an MMO then? do you only recognize EVE Online as such?
yes, only sandbox games that always have over 10,000 players present in the same location can be considered mmorpgs
Do you get off displaying your moronation on the Internet or something?
GW1 was not an MMORPG you fricking moron. The game was specifically marketed as an "online RPG", because the devs weren't delusional.
WoW actually utilises it's open-world, had group quests that weren't all relegated to hallway instances or boxed arenas, had actually character building, gear that actually mattered and open-world PvP (optional). FFXIV has done nothing but make the game less and less like an MMO with each expansion, the exceptions being Eureka and Bozja, both of which were hated by the community, because FFXIV is an ""MMORPG"" for players who hate the genre.
>because the devs weren't delusional.
because they wanted to be unique*
this is the same zoomer mistake as calling PS1 PSX. nobody who cared when it was hot called it that, just like everyone knew GW was an MMO, the devs were just being queer about it.
man I remember how gw2 tried to remove the trinity of roles
then raids happened and you got back to tanks, healers and dps
Then raids stopped happening, but the roles didn't go anywhere, because removing roles leads to the "DPS with self-sustain" being the only build you can play in the endgame.
>Unique
No, they weren't delusional. They new knew that players only being able to see each other and group in the hub before loading into instanced zones to do a mission did not make the game an MMO. FFXIV has a useless open-world, useless mobs, no character building, gearing is a linear path with almost zero player agency outside of autistic optimisation of shit like equipping a lower ilvl gear because it has a crit stat, no group quests, rewards you for not playing the game, a useless economy, hallway dungeon designs, padded room raids, filled to the brim with invisible walls and garbage dailies. Saw an anon mention Hunt Trains earlier, those are also a joke, since it consists of a large group of players bursting down a braindead mob before hopping on their flying mounts to go burst down another brain dead mob.
I don't play modern WoW, so I couldn't tell you shit about it or how it functions today, dropped it after clearing ICC.
>it consists of a large group of players bursting down a braindead mob before hopping on their flying mounts to go burst down another brain dead mob.
B-But that sounds like Vanilla WoW too, does that mean that it wasn't MMORPG as well? Based Old School RuneScape chad!
that is exactly what ffxi was too
and ffxi is considered to be a much, much, much, much superior game to ffxiv
>Not even FFXI is a MMORPG
I'm cumming!!!!
You have never played FFXI
Yeah, it isn't good, but at least vanilla had more shit to do in the open-world. Meanwhile that's all there is to do in FFXIV's open-world
>inb4 gathering and fishing
Game literally gives you a skill that makes level appropriate mobs and lower unable to detect you. What a fricking joke.
>Steamrolling moronic mobs before hopping onto your flying mount to do it again
>FFXI
lol. moron.
yes believe it or not ffxi notorious monsters had as many mechanics as hunt mobs in xiv
they are exact copies of each other
Not even talking about NM, just general mobs in FFXI were harder than any NM in FFXIV.
>harder
yeah, by making them unsoloable by bloating their hp and damage
Thus facilitating the need for teamwork, group and exploiting enemy weakness. Rather than mindlessly pressing the glowing keys on your hotbar and playing DDR.
Do OSRS players have something against WoW? I don't play Runescape anymore, haven't since 2009, and even then it was just with my cousins and friends from school.
Anyway, none of you have yet to post anything that reinforces the idea of FFXIV being an MMORPG besides the dev's/marketers delusion. BRs are bigger than FFXIV and CoD/sports games have more gameplay. customisation than FFXIV.
>Anyway, none of you have yet to post anything that reinforces the idea of FFXIV being an MMORPG besides the dev's/marketers delusion.
They sell it as MMORPG, it's advertised as MMORPG, people buy it knowing/assuming it's a MMORPG. It won MMORPG related awards. If you search it up on the internet, the genre it is categorized as is MMORPG.
It identifies as a MMORPG, not lootershooter, not BR, not fighting game, not RTS, not action game, not VR-chat, not sports game, not survival game, not horror game, not 3rd person shooter game, not ubisoft game not Snoy-exclusive game.
It's mostly your delusion that reinforces the idea that it's not. In a nutshell is the delusion of SquareEnix and Co vs (You)r delusion.
same anon, that argument doesn't have anything to do whether or not the stuff you consider MMORPG-worthy are right or wrong.
It can identify as whatever it wants too, I'm just saying that nothing in the game itself backs up the label. And none of you have been able to posts anything about the game that reinforces the "MMORPG" label either.
Even if you try to be as objective as possible and compare it to it's contemporaries, FFXIV still falls short and the game it resembles the most doesn't describe itself as an MMORPG.
>It can identify as whatever it wants too, I'm just saying that nothing in the game itself backs up the label. And none of you have been able to posts anything about the game that reinforces the "MMORPG" label either.
True but also that's your opinion not a fact and no matter what your headcanon on "what a true MMORPG is" says it doesn't change that no matter what you say either be facts or opinions. Game is recognized as MMORPG. It is what it is. Just because a horror movie like Hereditary put me to sleep and didn't even make me slightly shaken that doesn't mean that I can screech outsides of cinemas and go like "IT'S NOT A HORROR BECAUSE I SAY SO"...
Your argument is absolutely moronic. Assuming that movie at least followed the basics of what horror movies have, it being a shit horror movie still makes it a horror movie. FFXIV doesn't not have what a majority of what makes MMORPGs, MMORPGs. In fact, I made an error, FFXIV isn't an "OG", it's a "MOG", because it has multiplayer. There is nothing massive about a game that can only load in 50 players and has everything separated into zones and instances. The game also lacks a majority of RPG elements, but morons like you think that being able to see a number makes something an RPG. Again, none of you idiots have been able post anything about FFXIV that backs up the MMORPG label. Instead you just throw out ad hominem and make moronic analogies.
>can only load in 50 players
dunno chief, can load in at least a couple hundred within render distance on my PC, and that's probably as much as you;d get in any MMO at one time
>has everything separated into zones and instances
so what? doesn't make a game not a MMORPG, very few of them actually have a seamless world with no loadscreens between two distinct locations
>lacks a majority of RPG elements
You have classes and stats that noticeably affect your gameplay. That's the requirement for something being an RPG, you don't come to Final Fantasy V and say it's not an RPG, now do you?
so it is both an MMO
and an RPG
that makes it a MMORPG
your oldgay view of an MMORPG that basically excludes most MMORPGs released after WoW made PvE servers a thing is outdated by almost two decades now
>dunno chief, can load in at least a couple hundred within render distance on my PC, and that's probably as much as you;d get in any MMO at one time
You objectively cannot, even at max settings.
>so what? doesn't make a game not a MMORPG, very few of them actually have a seamless world with no loadscreens between two distinct locations
No, but FFXIV is probably the most segmented MMO I have ever played, outside of 2D side-scrollers like Maple Story.
>You have classes and stats that noticeably affect your gameplay. That's the requirement for something being an RPG, you don't come to Final Fantasy V and say it's not an RPG, now do you?
Jobs bring almost nothing of unique value to gameplay outside of intrinsic motivation and parsehomosexualry. Stats are meaningless because you have no say in what stats you raise and you cannot even progress the story without meeting a minimum ilvl requirement for dungeons/trials, so intentionally gimping yourself will prevent you from progressing. To put it simply, the game has no character building, therefore it is not an RPG.
To conclude, there is nothing massive about the game, it renders less players than your average BR and there is no character building, thus it cannot be an RPG. Therefore, FFXIV is not an MMORPG. If we go by your useless standards, then Warzone is an MMORPG.
No, because FFXIV does not even have the basics of what makes an MMORPG an MMORPG.
>Jobs bring almost nothing of unique value to gameplay outside of intrinsic motivation and parsehomosexualry.
It wasn't like that in HW, the "all jobs have become the same" started at SB. It even had certain actions you can apply on your hotbar depending what other jobs you had leveled up and that's was the most RPGlike that game had. ARR & HW were MMORPGs
>you cannot even progress the story without meeting a minimum ilvl requirement for dungeons/trials, so intentionally gimping yourself will prevent you from progressing.
So MMORPGs which have areas with monsters higher level than your current level are bad? You think you can endgame raid in many other MMORPGs with min ilvl? Best case you can but you'll get carried by others making their time miserable.
>No, because FFXIV does not even have the basics of what makes an MMORPG an MMORPG.
If you are someone who started at ShB then that's true...
>It wasn't like that in HW, the "all jobs have become the same" started at SB. It even had certain actions you can apply on your hotbar depending what other jobs you had leveled up and that's was the most RPGlike that game had. ARR & HW were MMORPGs
Which is why I said that FFXIV has done nothing but remove MMORPG elements with each expansion.
>So MMORPGs which have areas with monsters higher level than your current level are bad? You think you can endgame raid in many other MMORPGs with min ilvl? Best case you can but you'll get carried by others making their time miserable.
No. The point is that stats do not matter and by extension, gear does not matter for the majority of the player base. And since stat do not matter, gear does not matter and there are no skills to upgrade/learn, there is no character building, which means the game is not an RPG.
>If you are someone who started at ShB then that's true...
See the first point.
It started as MMORPG and slowly it removed all that made it MMORPG according to you and others and that doesn't make it worthy to keep the MMORPG title it initially had? Is that it?
Basically yeah. It started off decent enough with ARR, but after HW it's just been doing everything in it's power to make the game less and less like an MMORPG. And seeing as the game is continuously growing, the player base seems to have no problem with that, which is fine. Just don't get upset when people point out that game isn't an MMORPG.
Ok ok in that case I agree
>You objectively cannot, even at max settings.
have you checked the actual, you know
character render settings? during hunts or in cities, I can see more than a hundred players at once, and I have it on medium, so clearly you're wrong there
>Jobs bring almost nothing of unique value to gameplay outside of intrinsic motivation and parsehomosexualry. Stats are meaningless because you have no say in what stats you raise and you cannot even progress the story without meeting a minimum ilvl requirement for dungeons/trials, so intentionally gimping yourself will prevent you from progressing. To put it simply, the game has no character building, therefore it is not an RPG.
and yet
is Final Fantasy I not an RPG? you have only six classes, you don't choose how you build them, at most you can choose your equipment but there's almost always a statistically superior option that blows the rest out of the water
is Final Fantasy IV not an RPG? you don't even get to choose classes anymore, only equipment which is locked on a character-by-character basis, and yet again there are clearly superior options, so you basically upgrade all of your gear every time you come across a new town selling what is, in function, higher item level equipment
and jobs do have unique playstyles (well, not as much as they used to, but you're still not doing the same things if you compare, say, a healer and a ranged DPS)
>is Final Fantasy I not an RPG?
>is Final Fantasy IV not an RPG?
Yes neither is a RPG, they are Jrpgs.... It's over...
>have you checked the actual, you know
>character render settings? during hunts or in cities, I can see more than a hundred players at once, and I have it on medium, so clearly you're wrong there
My game is maxed out, it can't even render everyone at the Limsa aetheryte and each instance has max of 250 players. it is quite literally impossible to render higher than 50 or so characters in FFXIV, even at the highest setting.
>is Final Fantasy I not an RPG?
>is Final Fantasy IV not an RPG
No, those are JRPGs and funnily enough, FFXIV has less character building than them.
>it is quite literally impossible to render higher than 50 or so characters in FFXIV, even at the highest setting.
objectively false
you can get a lot more than 50 at the same time
maybe less than a couple hundred, but certainly more than 50, try Limsa at evening with the Maximum character/object quantity selected, you'll get at least a couple dozen at the MBs and five dozen or so at the aetheryte without them phasing in and out
>No, those are JRPGs and funnily enough, FFXIV has less character building than them.
also objectively false, while XIV doesn't have a lot of character building, you can still affect a lot more in XIV than in either of those games, unless you consider your whole party to be a cohesive "character" for single player games, but not for XIV
>The problem here is that XIV started with these RPG features that allowed you to have more control and build more of an identity despite the hyper linear single player story and scripted content.
the issue with MMOs is that they all succumb to meta moronation
regardless of how much customization you put in, an optimal build will surface, and the only thing having more customization leads to is wider discrepancies between those following the meta and those not
the only way to avoid this to some degree (but never completely) is to have completely different ways of play (small-scale and large-scale PvE and PvP might create four optimal builds instead of one, for instance), but that just offsets the problem somewhat instead of eliminating it
>Meta moronation
This fricking meme needs to die. Meta will exist NO MATTER WHAT. Even in the hyper homogenized version we have today some classes don't play. Why strip all the fun away from the jobs for the sake of balance and not achieve it anyway?
Why care about balance at all when it sincerely doesn't matter what job you have? This isn't FF13 where you have to switch paradigm and use a different moveset depending on the fights or SOP where you can hit different weak points depending on the move and weapon type.
And if there's really something out of line you can just patch the frickin game. Like its a live service that people pay monthly for. Holy frick small indie devs can't update their cash cow.
Nah, in today's version basically every class can clear reliably. They could unfrick the design somewhat, that is true, but it should be about giving every job a distinct identity rather than slapping customization in.
That's what we had in Stormblood which isn't ideal but it was still much better than the trash garbage we have today
I firmly believe XVI had nothing to do with it and they decided on this hyper homogeny out of sheer incompetence and laziness. Or because the game is REALLY in maintenance mode.
>the game is REALLY in maintenance mode.
heh it's a WoW-clone and maintenance mode worked for Blizz for a while, since both games have their share of wealthy whales i guess it'll work just fine...
The biggest disappointment to me is that XIV had so much room for growth but they quite literally put themselves in a corner.
They can't do high end PVE because that means updating the client to disallow plugins, which we know they won't do.
They can't do PVP because the server is a shit show and the modes are easily exploitable plus plugins
They can't do more housing because that means more servers that it would take them years to add to the game.
All they can do is more msq, and more treadmills that do nothing for anyone. More of the same stale shit. They can't grow.
I want to see midcore content with high replayability.
what would be the point of disallowing plugins homosexual
People really care about those shiny weapons so they cheat to get them. There was a massive shitstorm because world first clearers were using a ton of plugins to make the fight trivial where even yoshida felt like needed to say something.
So if they actually went and added anti cheat of some kind to stop plugins for working they could focus on growing the competitive aspects of the game.
>competitive aspects of the game
MMO competition is dogshit and should never be focused on. Go play a fighting game or moba or something if you want that.
This, homosexuals who keep trying to turn mmo's into competitive games are homosexuals who simply aren't good enough for pure competitive games.
b-but my parses... the orange logs on that website...
Bro this wasn't my choice, it's the shit Square Enix chose to put in the game, we're talking about the game homie, whatever you and I want doesn't matter.
I'm speculating that given their choices their room for growth is non existent.
I quit playing mmos two years ago because they are trash and don't satisfy me.
Why are you here b***hing about a game you haven't played in 2+ years?
What does that matter to you b***h moron? I'll talk about videogames if I feel like it pussy. Engage with the points.
>This game that I don't even play needs to change to appeal to me despite it having unprecedented growth during a content drought
Genuine mental illness.
nah they can grow
they need to reevaluate how to approach certain design
less dance fights (not saying "put them in the minority", but make some unusual strats like actually needing AoE more than maybe once per raid tier, or kiting, or forced healing of non-party entities, etc, WoW does that shit all the time)
PvP is probably the best it can be with their fricked netcode, not much to salvage here before they change THAT
criterion should really be a mainstay of every tier and evolve more, with more varied paths and packs and rewards that actually make it worth running, like extreme-tier gear or tome level gear at least
more job diversity so that DRK is once again the drain/parry tank instead of "I guess I TBN", WAR is back to being "high HP, easy to heal" tank, etc, etc
basically even with current design there's a lot they could change for the better
>They can't do high-end pve
>He doesn't know Savage and Ultimates exist
Tell me you're a newbie without telling me you're a newbie bait poster.
what is there even to whale on ffxiv
there's a finite amount of stuff you can buy on the cash shop
you cannot dump infinite money for infinite power
fantasia
>That's what we had in Stormblood which isn't ideal but it was still much better than the trash garbage we have today
hey I'm all for Stormblood-era design
less autistic than HW, which got excessive at times, while still distinct for every class, also utility abilities were still in the game and could be used for encounter building if they were to make a return
maybe, just maybe, after 16 releases, things will change somewhat
>Holy frick small indie devs can't update their cash cow.
No time, soon FF16 release date. Maybe after that!
>you can get a lot more than 50 at the same time
My game is maxed out. I can walk to the other side of the Limsa aetheryte and people on the side will not render. About 50+ is the highest amount of players you can see on screen.
>also objectively false, while XIV doesn't have a lot of character building, you can still affect a lot more in XIV than in either of those games, unless you consider your whole party to be a cohesive "character" for single player games, but not for XIV
FFXIV doesn't even have bog basic shit elemental resistance. There is almost zero character building outside of hyper-parse autism.
>the issue with MMOs is that they all succumb to meta moronation
I'd rather this be a result of the players, not the fricking devs. They have completely thrown in the towel on level design in overworld because of flying and dungeon design because it's mandatory for story progression and the most common form of levelling is to spam it. Positionals are gone, tanks just push a button to have perma aggro, boss hitboxes are almost as big as the arenas now, bosses auto-position themselves to the middle of the arena for certain attacks now and it's all so tiresome. The devs have quite literally optimised all the player agency and variety out of the game.
>I'd rather this be a result of the players
True, in this gane the devs make your rotation for you and you just play it out. This isn't a community effort or the result of trial an error, you have a linear rotation that you execute right or do it wrong.
>This isn't a community effort

They gave Max centre stage at their ffxvi pre-launch stream but ffxiv streamers? I think YoshiP is really burnt on them with how schizo or drama homosexualry 99% of them are including the former WoW refugees.
yeh 100% yoshida just doesn't want anything to fricking do with streamers really
he seems to really love the community and culture his game has generated, besides the "sends death threats to the devs over story developments and gameplay balancing" lunatics that any MMO gets
>FFXIV doesn't even have bog basic shit elemental resistance.
you get exactly one guess as to why they completely canned elemental resistances after ARR and you must leave the thread if you get it wrong
do not respond to this post if you will not abide by this post's rules
because Yoshida's main would've been fricked by any boss with fire or ice or thunder resistance
right but in a gaygish way about it, arbitrary spell resistances aren't compatible with a rotation-based MMO like FFXIV
the people that complain about not having build autism in FFXIV seem like they want to play diablo instead
ngl I phrased it that way intentionally
honestly I get it, I've played vanilla wow as a fire mage and was super bummed when I found out that MY MAIN DOESN'T FRICKING WORK IN ANY HIGH-END CONTENT AFTER FIVE-MANS (no AQ back then)
yeh that's the exact reason resistances aren't a thing here
i am stroking your head and kissing your cheek for getting it instead of going on a tirade about how the game would be improved by bad things like some Ganker posters
Like I said before they cornered themselves into this by making rotations in the first place this is the result of copying WoW without thought put into Why it is built that way.
you seem to be under the impression there was some grander design for the game that they intentionally slashed the throat of and that didn't happen
It's been a long time since I played WoW so correct me if I'm wrong but didn't the spell types ultimately boil down to nothing in that game too since you would just gear to make sure you had enough spell hit/penetration to disregard the mechanic entirely?
ye
not exactly, you couldn't get enough pen in early expacs to counter high resistances, and by the end of WotLK, basically nothing had elemental resists in relevant high-end PvE, the last holdouts being maybe nu-Naxx bosses IIRC
nah pretty sure they did put thought into it
other major MMOs at the moment also don't have that stuff, the general idea is that you should be able to play the class/spec/job/aesthetic that you want instead of "play what works"
SE just went to very extreme lengths in enforcing this, so much that they have some space to safely back off while still retaining relative parity between jobs
>you get exactly one guess as to why they completely canned elemental resistances after ARR
Because it was barely useful and a 1.0 holdover, another problem of their own making.
honestly a lot of XIV's problems even today can be traced to being a 1.0 refurbush, which was, in turn, an attempt to make XI-2 without understanding that the times have moved on
if they had netcode not written like it's still 2001 and you need to save every fricking bit of traffic, we could have actually snappy combat and PvP
I am 95% sure that ARR having the 2.5 GCD is due to netcode and server tick being 3 seconds at launch
This is exactly why I was not excited for "FFXIV will be supported for at least another decade"
eh, the thing about that theoretical decade is that
1) a quarter of it has passed already
2) it will only include like, three more expansions at this rate, with maybe 10.0 being the final one
3) it's very likely Yoshida will be given reins to a new MMO if Square decides that it would be nice to have a new, flashy cash cow, and I figure the man is smart enough to actually analyze both 2010s' MMOs of note (GW2, ESO, BDO) and the upcoming stuff (Ashes and such) to figure out that WoW isn't exactly en vogue anymore
they had a 1 second GCD at some point, IIRC
brother I said "in ARR", which is when the standard was set, and when there was way less oGCDs, and also a lot more lag, which probably contributed to the GCD actually being 2.5 seconds
mkay?
So... you're arguing about the game as it was in ARR while purposefully ignoring how the game is today over ten years later.
Fricking moronic.
considering we're still seeing the aftereffects of 1.0, I find it amusing that you don't consider decisions made during ARR's development to be in any way relevant today
I knew you'd twist my words and respond with that. I didn't even say decisions made in ARR don't matter, I said you're ignoring ten years of progress since ARR. You're not even acknowledging it for one reason or another. You're rehashing old, very old arguments and this leads me to believe you are in fact arguing in bad faith when you deliberately ignore ten years of progress and development.
not ignoring it, but the facts remain, the combat is rather unresponsive compared to some other MMOs (and even WoW)
this hits PvP the hardest, Guard starts working like a second after you actually hit the button instead of being, y'know, instant
PvE is mostly fine aside from some questionable snapshots here and there (but since other snaps are fine, that's probably on particular abilities)
Pvp will always suffer in mmo's even mmo's that have pvp designed into the game look at New World being the latest example of that. It just isn't what the majority of people who play mmo's want from the genre.
honestly I feel like design-wise, the new 5v5 PvP is pretty much one of the best I've ever seen
needs some basic fixes (oneshots are a bad idea, period), but otherwise it's some of the fairest PvP experiences I've ever had
the thing holding it back is unironically response time being weird and that the large-scale PvP is very jank with kits balanced for 5v5 (FL/RW)
problem is job kits being so braindead easy and failproof it becomes unfun
even overwatch, the baby casual dumbed down easy children zoomer first shooter has abilities that can miss and become completely useless if the player doesn't have a minimum of mechanical skill
in crystalline conflict it is literally impossible to not get value out of pressing a button, and like overwatch, it takes 2-3 games to become proficient at any job
and yet a noticeable portion of players fail to do their basic shit
otherwise I'd be having less 100% hopeless matches and less 100% stomps
yeah the class fantasies are pretty evident there, which is nice
huffing copium for them to bring some of that identity back to PvE in 7.0
I should get a trip. I'm huffing "femhroths look good", "endwalker gets retconned" and "attributes" style copium at the moment. The next fanfest will be the spark that either ignites my body like what Lahabrea did to that one chick or it'll send me sky high.
>"endwalker gets retconned"
lol
I do not like Soken's new hairstyle, it doesn't suit him.
More like "I wanna see what the original two expansions were before they got frankenstein'd together" kind of retcon.
I like the fact that everyone b***hes about all pvp job designs. Some more than others but that's fine. They're diverse with their own strengths and weaknesses.
New World's PvP problems are entirely of it's own makings
>Blizzard can somehow make a 1.5 GCD work on a modified Warcraft 3 engine that has been worked on continuously for nearly 20 years
SE are hacks when it comes to technical shit. Despite all the shit WoW has thrown at it at every second it has some of the most seamless MMO combat since forever
2.5 GCD is only the absolute standard. You can increase that down to 1.85 with materia and at level 90 you really shouldn't as you have so many OGCD to compensate. This isn't WoW, stop pretending it is.
Elemental resistance exists in side content like Eureka, Blue Mage, and Deep Dungeons.
we are very blatantly talking about normal PvE anon
?
The problem here is that XIV started with these RPG features that allowed you to have more control and build more of an identity despite the hyper linear single player story and scripted content.
Despite the game being a mediocre WoW clone there was a lot of potential in the systems that it had. It had nuance. What Square Enix has done away with almost everything now that previously added to the RPG experience.
Old dungeons with neat stuff and maze layouts were turned into corridors, even players are being replaced by Npcs. For an MMO you spend hundreds of hours even if you speedrun and skip cutscenes playing a completely single player story. Hell for all Destiny has done you can still play the entirety of the game with two other people at least.
>Hereditary being a shit horror movie still makes it a horror movie
But according to your theory FFXIV being a shit MMORPG still makes it a MMORPG
>no character building, gearing is a linear path with almost zero player agency outside of autistic optimisation of shit like equipping a lower ilvl gear because it has a crit stat
You were talking about how you wanted numbers there too but that fitted your narrative and that was RPG, right?
That's not the same you cretin, I want to earn the big numbers by farming/grinding 24/7 and min/maxing based on what I see on guides and forums not just get big numbers because my le ilvl is bigger and put 1 or 2 materia on it.
oh ho
well played anon
>gearing is a linear path
>unless you want to be optimal
?
so just like WoW became known as the best MMORPG even though according to OSRS players it wasn't MMORPG, FFXIV is a MMORPG even though you say it's not, right?
>this is the same zoomer mistake as calling PS1 PSX
Nobody said PS1 until the PlayStation One. Before that it was either PS or PSX
Even if it doesn't do what WoW does to be considered a MMORPG by your standards, it still fits the commercial criteria to be called MMORPG so no matter what you believe (right or wrong) it is considered and officially claimed to be MMORPG.
If I watch a horror film but it doesn't make me scared/horrified then it's not horror but it's HEADCANON GENRE

>RPG
You don't make your own character and play as them, you don't interact in the world in any way neither the story (if any) revolves around you. It's just like FIFA where you control a team of football players and assume individual control of each and every player depending ball position/possession... right?
>on Steam
holy shit it's like I'm back in 2019 with the same arguments being posted every time
95% of the people who play FFXIV haven't bought it on Steam
Square just sells digital keys themselves
>m-m-my game isnt dead t-t-t-they're all NOT on steam...
troon cope
So it's twice the Stream numbers but still not enough to be called Massive Multiplayer, is that it?
Anon, it's not about how many play a multiplaying game at the same time on same servers/lobbies, it's about what strangers on Ganker think about the game that makes it a MMO...
Circa 1.4 million active players last time a census was taken, earlier this year. I think that qualifies well enough, unless you want peak WoW numbers.
I'm this
anon and I didn't use the Stream numbers to go "dead game yoshitpiss on suicide watch" but to ask
how many players playing the game are enough to consider game a MMO
Active subs do not equal active players anon. Subs are considered active if at any moment between patches they logged back in. Yes free days inflate this number as well.
And the metric is player characters over a span of a few weeks, not subs. That's an unofficial census rather than SE data.
We can't really talk about data we don't have anon. If anything the unofficial census helps your shitty dead stale MMO more than an official updated census would.
>a game with thousands of concurrent players on a single server is not an MMO
>it has to meet some criteria I made up in advance so that it wouldn't qualify as an MMO
I guess there has never been an MMO
You know, I constantly hear that no one buys the game on steam but no one ever tells where that information comes from.
I truly do not care where people buy the game but out of curiosity I checked steam's global top sellers and currently FFXIV is placed 31st there and it has been on top 100 28 concurrent weeks so people most certainly are buying it on steam.
And I posted the wrong image, sorry I have Todd on the mind.

Twilight Princess Zelda is the best Zelda. And blonde hair colors are bad in this game.
>And blonde hair colors are bad in this game.
Tell that to Zenos
I meant the choices for player characters. Only few races like Midlanders have good blonde hair.
try these colors
She's got a great design, but that's about all. She's utterly irrelevant beyond that.
Even for design, ALBW or HW Zelda is better imo.
Duh, the game is called twilight princess.
pretty!
FFXIgays are even worse than WoWgays, how did they manage that feat?
Easy. They are from the previous era, in which MMOs were only playable if you had many friends in the game. Not one or two or even five friends, but like, a couple dozen, so that there's always enough online to make up a party of at least 4 people and go grinding.
They hate WoW and post-WoW MMOs, because WoW broke that trend by being eminently soloable up to the endgame (yes, even vanilla was easy to 1-60 completely alone), and was extremely successful, so it influenced the genre far more than FFXI or Whateverquest or PissAge did.
Finna Fantasy more like
>garlemald suffered from tempered backlash after the death of varis on the moon
>death of zodiark lifted the veil that was protecting eithyris
>endsinger sends in tendrils of despair to locations where we used dynamis (northern thanalan, azys la, ishgard, ala mhigo and garlemald)
>plot revolves less on solving the endsinger mystery and more of fighting for our lives
>grand companies quarantine off northern thanalan
>ishgardian dragoons and hraesvalgr's brood take the fight to the skies
>ala mhigan monks, red mages and hingan samurais fight in cqc in the streets
>thavnairian and sharlayan troops bolster what remains of garlemalds legions
>all this to buy time for the wol to follow the trail of endsinger back to her nest in ultima thule
>cutscenes depicting alien worlds are shown in dreams due to our connection to endsinger via time travel shenanigans
Instead we only get an old lady losing her marbles, a couple of garleans fighting and ONE (1) dungeon depicting the End Days in modern times. What a shit expansion.
Endwalker is two expansions smushed into one, and it's glaringly obvious. If it were split properly (Garlean frickery and Zodiark in 6.0, Endsinger 7.0), we'd have most of that. Instead we had to rush through two expansions' worth of plot points in a single bound.
Exactly. Why do you think I've been screeching about a retcon.
>6.0 focus on finishing garlemald conflict
>two thavnair, two garlean, the moon and a sharlayan zone
>new plot point is that the towers can control eikons/primals (its why we only see the magus sisters as indians and not their lunar form like the other primals)
>dead body of varis is used to temper the garlean empire
>funny daniel uses their power to weaken zodiarks seal
>primal anima feeds on zodiark to become the god emperor varis
>6.1 and 6.2 are dealing with the aftermath of the war while hunting lunar primal chimeras
>6.3 we get funny daniel taking control over zodiark
>6.4 and 6.5 lead up to the invasion of 7.0
Don't call me a trancer, trancers hate Venat. I love them both and believe they deserve better.
I had a different timeline in mind, but yours could work too.
As for it being a retcon, it was more of a shift in priorities. They really wanted to trot out the finale right there and then, which, I find, tends to hurt the story somewhat when it's done.
>run out of content to do between raid nights

TT-chads I kneel..... Autism was the secret all along, maybe I'll grind solo deep dungeon after this
Don't forget fishing.
I'm too broke to start
fishing doesn't take gil, only madness
Isn't the gathering gear really expensive?
No, but even if it was you can start with ARR fish.
Thanks anon I'll add it to the list
Not really, but even so, you have like four expansions' worth of fish to pursue. That'll hold you for a while...
On gathering jobs, you just have to upgrade your gear at like levels 50, 60, 70, etc. During which you'll be gaining scrips you can use to get an entire set and then just cover the rest with a bit of gill if you do fall short. Even then depending on the method you use you might not even need to upgrade gear.
All you need is scrip gear
built for colonization

Not this expac, no. Next expac, should be possible unless there's a hidden "doesn't die at 0 HP before doing mechanic X" lock.
BLU might be able to do it at 80.
Oh wait, you didn't say "solo". 4+ people who are coordinated enough could try, I think.

Which big ascian had the best looking form?
Themis
You forgot Eric, Venat and Elidibus. The latter two could be considered as primals but I don't care
Hard stuck between Themis and Hephaistos. I love that Themis is just Zodiark and the Warrior of Light fused to create an arbiter of justice but Hephaistos strikes it home with my love biological abominations. Hermes looks like a cage for birds.
Eric and Venat aren't really ascians but Eric's is cool yeah. I don't know if Hydaelyn counts as a true form? Its hard to say if Hydaelyn is a construct or a superbuffed Venat's true form.
Elidibus = Themis, Zodiark and Warrior of Light are just primal forms he took.
>tfw the next expansion will have a 3rd ascian final raid boss
Nabriales redemption arc
Isn't Eden's Promise technically 2 Ascians or is it meant to be just Artemis or Gaia
I love those shots when the camera pans over them and their title and name comes up. If the WoL had one it'd be "Fearless Fighter || Azem"
Wasn't Elidibus just the heart/soul of the Ancient's dreams to keep their utopia? The Themis we meet is more of an adjudicator than some lost soul trying to bring his people back. Plus we see Themis' soul go back into the Lifestream at the end of Pandæmonium instead of the part where we depart for Elpis.
Nah, Themis is Elidibus the same way Hades is Emet-Selch. It's basically their title. Elidibus was used as a vessel for the primal and thus became as such.
I can definitely see Flight or Flight being upgraded to Requiscat in the future. They should also bring back stances for both tank and healer. I'd gladly keep myself in tank stance if it means I get better party wide buffs whilst the healer goes ham with damage. Even Paladin could be an interesting off tank now that they're exploring the idea of it being able to summon swords.

Why are Zodiark Trancers like this and is it true that Barry is connected with them? Because it looks like it.
Can you explain this shit to me? I think I know someone who might be eternally mindbroken as a result of the story in this MMO and I'm slightly concerned.
>is it true that Barry is connected with them?
The guy (allegedly female but probably a lie) who wrote the Zodiark Trance comic is a confirmed FFXV fanboy so it's entirely probable.
Imagine obsessively searching twitter for a new nemesis, nitpicking each and every post, making special screencaps which you, of course, name, reading all forum post on your most hated subject, filling all XIV threads with "muh trancers"... Must be love.

It's weird for Pld because I've got the shield, they let you get that without needing weapon raid special gear, I just need the sword to complete my set now.
It's the new tome (6.4) fending chest.

Oh, shit, I like that better with the Paladin pieces than I do with the actual other pieces of the set.

It'll be a different star that just happened to have hyurs in it too. Like the Nier star.
We are of the Source, we've been to the First and the 13th, so ffxvi is any of the remaining shards the question is though, is it a shard that still exists or a shard that was rejoined?
Pick your poison.
XIV has like six or seven Mothercrystals floating around, no way in hell it's a shard even if it still works on aether rules.
XVI I MEAN XVI
They just call them mother crystals because they are fricking huge and the source of power for each kingdom. They have nothing to do with gods or Hydaelyn.
Right, that's what I'm saying.

Do you have a negative EQ or something? The facial expression is completely wrong in the illustration. It's confident, aggressive, intense, and focused. In the game, it's just simple and empty, which is what makes it so haunting.
I thought it was just me, but I dislike this image because the expression is messed up
It's about eyebrows. Her deadfish eyes mixed with godly, serene expression give that "oh shit oh frick" feel.
>POV: You are the last pumpkin spice in the fridge
Horrifying.
I don't get the affixiation with him
It's the stretchy-neck in your own picture being so unexpected for an attack and the memeability of WEBS.... LIKE UNTO CHAINS
Help me decide on if this Reaper fit looks good or not, it's the Virtu reaper hat with Edenmorn maiming.
I used that as a sprout, looks good bro
I have a dream. One day, the menace that is FEMRA will be contained, controlled. We will put pool noodles on their horns so they can no longer run around wild headbutting elezen in the knees. We will put them in goat pens so that they can be contained, with a mighty 5' fence that they cannot possibly get out of due to being what scientists call "little shorties". We will feed them au ra kibble and keep them from being poached by femra rustlers. And they will be happy.
Why on earth why would I build a clock tower to my peaceful island sanctuary? I think it's become a mammet semi-automated factory for tourist trinkets to be sold in Limsa.
Ilberd was right. You're never going to be anything but a useful tool to them.
I'm so tired of this blackedlander
the what
Athena's husband is your stereotypical anime greek brown, which means that in the head of that deranged anon Lahabrea is the blackest of blacks vanta black person to ever exist. Not that it matters because eric didn't inherit any shitter genes from her anyway.
mutt's law
Nothing pisses me off more than modern clothing in a fantasy game set in medieval times
>everyone virtue signaling about how they hate modern clothing
>yet they are always the most popular cash shop items, most coveted glams ingame and most used
never, ever listen to what people say
always watch what they actually do
>Paypigs have shit taste
you don't say
I don't consider those wearing them "people".
Not the same people.
my main outfit doesn't have modern stuff. am i cool yet?
no_

your lala needs a BMI of at least 27 to be recognized by me
the only real armor is a thick layer of fat
we found the smug little shit poster
I'm not the BMI femlala poster, I just agree with his message
Post the full image
you 3 Black folk need to meet up irl and frick already and ideally frick off from these threads for good
all you do is make the same fricking posts with the same images every fricking thread, responding to each other with absolutely nothing of substance other than look at my character im a lalafell xD, basically bot tier content, if anything i'm starting to wonder if you are actually all bots since it's the same thing every thread 600 threads in a row
nobody finds you interesting or relevant or anything other than dumb fricking attention prostitutes, which is what all lalafell players are
frick off back to /xivg/ or e621 or gpt4 or wherever the frick you came from or at least do something that isn't literal forum bot tier attention whoring
just got a house the other day. i don't need to live rent free in your head any more. you can keep the security deposit
>act like a dumb attention prostitute every damn thread
>get called a dumb attention prostitute
>r-rent free!
>blah blah blah!
>wah wah wah!
Shut up gay lmao
Any news on that SEAmonkey who reported those teams?
Lol get fricked homosexual
Don't forget to report those homosexuals for avatar use. Those morons should stay in their containment board.
>cheeks that could smother you
Absolutelybased

Cute femra, guess croissants are finally having their moment.
Pretty cool merc outfit. I find myself using those hand and foot pieces a lot, they're way too versatile.
>have to run dun fricking scaith over and over again because I want that wind up Scathach but keep rolling shit numbers
GIVE IT
Just run it with 23 friends. You do have at least that many right anon? You aren't a loser are you?

FFVII and its consequences were a disaster to the Final Fantasy franchise
Stop giving (you) to Foxxo and his discord buddies.
glam archetypes
1. The grown man
>femra/femmiddie/c@
>most basic b***h skimpy glam or just a summer event outfit
>dyed black or white
>showing as much skin as possible
>not very imaginative
2. The troony
>same as grown man
>very elaborate bawdglam
>matches accents
>matches colors
>can't shake off the feeling this is what they want to look like irl
3. the 14 year old male character player
>fully armored
>DRK/WAR/PLD/GNB
>dyed black or white
>doesn't show face
>glowing weapon
>usually found harassing grown men
4. the meme
>maleroe/catboy/malera/miera
>full marketboard skimpy glam
>dyed metallic purple or metallic green
I'm none of these though.
wtf I'm a troony for matching colors now
>The troony
>matches accents
>matches colors
lol
you can always tell who the troony players are because they have zero color or fashion sense.
I'm a fully armored white dyed mask wearing non-glowing weapon using elezen who harasses lalafell players by taking their bench and baiting reports
hello zt
5. the tomboy appreciator
>plays MNK
>only uses MNK AF sets that show tummy
>subject myself to FL every day because it's a roulette
>mfw
why did they make the shittiest pvp mode the roulette
I'd like it more if the maps weren't so ass and they gave a shit about cheating and what not.
>bard gets a tiny range nerf on their silence
>went from relatively popular to never seen again in pvp
huh
>10y range nerf that makes it conflict with the entire skillset
>"tiny"
hi yoshitpiss
Not a tiny nerf. Basically it became unusable at the range BRD wants to be, and that silence was one of the two main things BRD brought to a teamfight.
>tiny
range nerfs hurt. white mage got a lot worse after polymorph was basically melee range only. i still enjoy my purgation laser
>white mage got a lot worse after polymorph was basically melee range only
good
polymorph is fricking bullshit
What are the most profitable crafters/gatherers? I'm assuming CUL and ALC must be the best crafters since potions and food are needed to raid whereas gear is mostly a once a patch thing.
Anything that makes furniture people regularly use. People are lazy as frick and don't want to buy mats to have 20 windows crafted, so they'll buy it straight from the MB for 120k a pop rather than 6k for the cost of materials
>furniture
Somefrickinghow I didn't realize this would probably be the most demanded yet still priciest thing. Probably because I don't really do housing stuff myself. Thanks anon.
all crafters should be leveled at the same time and kept at max
on patch days crafted gear can sell for insane amounts since it's a) scarce and b) bots aren't up until at least a couple hours pass, meaning you can make sick money if you're up early to craft and are willing to hug the marketboard. I made 80 million or so in 6.2 and 30 million in 6.3.
food and pots make consistent money but the actual margin on them tapers off significantly past the first couple of weeks, they never end up unprofitable but selling more generic high-volume stuff like levekits, leveling mats, glitching furniture glowing weapons etc becomes a better option moving forward provided there's no bots cornering that market (and there are ALWAYS bots selling current tier stuff like food pots crafted gear etc, so...)
look at this nerd
chasing temporary gold rushes
i spend all my money doing silly shit like putting up hide and seek bounties in novice network or paying people to disrupt Limsa RP, it's worth the retainer bell nolifing if i get laughs out of it
>putting up hide and seek bounties in novice network
That's pretty nice
It's incredibly easy to glitch into walls in ARR if you fly at them on a small mount like the Greater Serpent of Ronka at some diagonal angle, so you just need to find a section of cliff that juts out somewhere and hit autorun, even the nameplate gets hidden. The area fills up with more and more people, some of whom get very angry or start accusing you of being in an instance or hacking. I always pay out to those who find me though.
I also give out big fish bounties to try and entice people into catching Big Fish if I see them catch it. At one point all the money in the game stops mattering so you just spend it on dumb shit like that because the submarines drown you in cash.
>paying people to disrupt Limsa RP
devilish
Ngl, looks like half the strategy to make gil in XIV is "get ahead of the bots and try to take stuff before they do".
Actually the best strategy to make gil is to just fricking RMT because Square literally does not care about the real sources of RMT and only do a cursory, monthly sweep of the most obvious ARR Wanderer's Palace desynthing floorglitch bots that have been there since, well, ARR. After that if you still care about making more money without doing illegal shit, start a FC, buy a house, buy submarine parts and run them for a few months, the subs start to bring in incredibly lazy money after a couple of months and you will literally never need to spend gil on anything again, but it requires significant capital investment up front.
Otherwise yeah, Square doesn't care about bots so you just have to be faster than them. Any time anyone brings it up to support they flat out ignore it, mentioning it on the forums gets you moronic dicksuckers who either insist Square can do nothing wrong, give outdated advice "just buy out the bots infinite stock/just undercut the bot until it buys out all your stock and relists it at profitable prices" or just derail your thread for their own rotten agenda, and Square doesn't read the EN forums anyway. I wonder if maybe wiring a spambot to shit on the JOP section until they do something about it might change things.
>I wonder if maybe wiring a spambot to shit on the JOP section until they do something about it might change things.
What it'll most likely do is make the moronic island monkeys scream BAKA GAIJIN KUSOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO simultaneously and make square do something against that rather than botting itself.
Never, ever underestimate japanese stupidity, it's on par with mutts only on different subjects.
The other classes items don't crater in value with subsequent patches since people will still by crafted gear for glam, you also won't be able to make any of the million gill treasure hunt recipes.
>tfw you slide in on squishies healing up and delete them with an instant cast Burst before sliding out like a smooth criminal
Behold
The only sensible femal au ra
I despise all cosplay outfits.
>be humble gatherer
>get some nice weed that's 800 a pop on my server
>go gather a few stacks
>go back to sellin me crop on the board
>find out some motherfricker flooded the board for full stacks at 100 a piece
>it all goes down the shitter from there
but why
I'm still wearing the level 50 BLM gear. I wish the hat didn't have the eyepatch though.
I'm using the old halloween robe myself.
I tend to gravitate toward artefact gear as well, sometime I mix it up with some other piece to change it up a little but generally try to stay within the theme of the job.
I wish artefact armors didn't looked like dogshit starting SB
I use the AF1 hat specifically because it has an eyepatch, because of my autistic devotion to my headcanon of my character losing an eye in the calamity. The fact that there are no good eyepatches for crafters and gatherers is painful.
Who are you calling autistic c**t!
>this outfit causes seethe on Ganker
>femra attentionwhoring outside /xivg/
checks out.
So true bestie, only lalafells are allowed to do that here.
Nix the hat and it's fine in the context of a crafter.
This being a PLD or SAM glam like i tend to see is for hyper homosexuals though.
>Find a nice pair of gloves that'd look great on my sam
>It's for caster
Remove the fricking restriction on glamour already
>New guy
>Unlock and join a trial
>The first poor bastard to get targeted at by the boss for the mechanic is me every single fricking times
