The real problem is idiots like this who stifle what they can do with the story. Because in their mind, yshtola is their "waifu", there is limit to the sort of charcters you can write. Ever notice how almost every single character is single in this game? Even characters like Rauhbaun or Gaius who are middle-aged, successful, and have *adopted children*? Its because schizos get insanely jealous if you write any characters with spouses or lovers. Fourchaninode and the Chais are the only fricking married people in the entire game.

I don't even like the plot point of Nanamo sending Raubahn off and always thought that was a dumb decision on her part, but I'm not delusional enough it happened because "OMG dem evil players caused this to happen because they lust after Nanamo." you should read some novels from the 17-19th centuries. You cannot just "leave your household in care of your servants" and assume things aren't going get really fricking weird. You need a wife aligned with your interests on site to oversee your affairs. Servants are great, but they do not actually have aligned interests with you.

Have you considered that the reason Y'shtola didn't hook up with Runar isn't because of much evil players who get jealous (and who if they were genuinely catering to they wouldn't have had Runar at all to begin with), but rather because Runar is a big loser hermit whose only noteworthy skill is making stew, who shows no interest at all in her life beyond just staying at his home and protecting them and doesn't even try to get to know her friends in turn, who will die in a blink while she's in any of the other shards, and that the only lifestyle he can offer her is to renounce to her dreams and goals in life as well as to the Scions, Matoya, Y'mhitra and her home world to instead pray to a "god" she's on a friendly basis with in some forest because otherwise the catman will cry?

That would require a massive change in how they do Item Levels, which right now are just in increments of 10 and sometimes 5. They would have to allow greater variance in Ilevel like in early ARR which I don't see happening.
Plus, the reason WoW can do Mythic+ is because all dungeon gear in an expansion is literally the sam but recolored and given a different name to pretend it's different, while in FFXIV all dungeons have different looking gear.

I would want something that's more 'midcore' like people on here describe -pegged between normal and savage, and NOT just boss fights. Variant dungeons are neat but suffer the same issues as regular dungeons where none of the mobs really pose a challenge. Criterion is just several savage raid bosses stapled together with a corridor between them, the mobs are barely an issue.

Diadem 1.0 was actually pretty fun and "actual MMO" content where it was a big ass mystery zone, it's just that groups could go in with different goals and ways to achieve those goals and it caused a lot of fricking drama. So it went through 2 revamps (that I remember) and they even tried throwing in weapons that were stronger than the last stage relics to salvage it before it went through the final revamp to the gathering hell that it is today.
Here's an idea I've had for a while about a new type of 'exploratory content':
Super-dungeons. Basically, massive, multi-floor, open-ended and not-randomly generated dungeons like in Final Fantasy XI. A group from 1 to 4 players can enter the dungeon, and you will have to slowly explore and map the area.
It will have a lot of hidden chests with unique rewards, randomly spawning Notorious Monsters, puzzles to open new areas, and so on.

Yes, a lot. Though most of your GCD heals are actually going to be during the trash pack rooms because the bosses are almost entirely the same as their Criterion versions and you'll have them figured out by the time you're ready for Savage, but the Savage trash rooms are a completely different ball game and require A LOT more attention.
About on par, the difference is you're the only guy responsible and can't leverage any responsibility on anyone else. Barrier healers are much more favourable as a result. In Savage, you seriously need to respect the trash too.

It's got pacing issues, but the reasons people shit on it hardest is actually a terribly subjective matter that's been argued in circles about by a group of autists who act like the game raped them irl. Saying much more would be too much spoiler. Also the patches do pretty much suck, 6.1 was good then it fell off a cliff. You might still like them. Depends on how much do you enjoy unironic edgelords with memory issues.

Nah not really "major". They added Island Sanctuary for a subpar farming sim and Variant Dungeons which were content that died almost immediately because they forgot to make the rewards enticing and worth grinding for. EW MSQ introduced stuff like stealth following quests which were quickly discarded because no one fricking liked them and the first trial with NPC Trust, but that was just a one off.

Jobs get simplified every expac, EW was no exception. For example, blm got a bunch of QoL that made it even easier to keep your rotation rolling.

The main expac is a clusterfrick of trying to resolve plot lines while still adding new ones. Still, with so much shit going on there were a lot less dull moments than ARR and Stormblood. The post expac content otoh is being drip-fed to us and it feels like a filler arc. Probably way better if you're marathoning through it instead of getting the 2 hours of story every 4 months. Variant dungeons are a nice change of pace, Island Sanctuary is more boring gathering slave labor, the Pandemonium raids were fun and it was nice to have a traditional JRPG villain that just wanted to play God for once but as a fan of FFII's Pande it was disappointing that it was only similar in name, and the music for the 24-man raids absolutely slaps this time around. Overall I still like EW, just think some of the shit with the plot ranged from rushed to pants-on-head moronic.

in a game with a completely different design philosophy, the players would view rewards as stepping stones to each other. like in runescape, doing a quest or minigame or activity to unlock new teleports, better places to level or make money, unlock special equipment that have a lot of general utility and/or can be taken into other activities to give yourself an advantage are all seen as desirable. in ffxiv, you cannot create such incentive structures because people already riot about “having to do” manderville or ivalice for relics
XIVgays don't want to play the game. They want to dress up and ERP. They don't want their costume pieces gated behind a stupid game they might have to take a hand off their dick to play.
Runescape's also structured much more differently with a much more horizontally inclined gearing and progression structure where even mid level stuff is relevant in high end content. It's not like XIV where you can't get away with wearing level 70 gear and expect to do the latest shit.
The "stepping stones" aren't so much nice things you can unlock to increase your range of options or have a sense of better QoL but largely things you need to do in order to get anything done at all. It's not really a surprise that a chunk of players would conflate it with tedium.
Oh yeah, and Runescape's gear isn't mostly untradeable so you're not locked into doing specific content to get what you want unless you're playing an Ironman.

Right and that has little to do with the engine. When they port over the gane to a lower powered console they disable specific effects and lower texture and render resolution to get it to run smoothly. The game being ported to a PS3 says nothing about the maximum quality the engine can do (other than technologies that weren't out at the time being less likely to be integrated). The switch off of PS3 offloaded the dev requirement to have the PS3 textures and world design limitations, it's not a switch flip to magically make the non-PS3 textures better. That takes artists actually doing that work.

I wish they had shown more info on their requirements graphic. I assume those specs are aiming for 60FPS and the resolutions shown but they didn't go into too much detail about it. I hope they are courteous enough to release the benchmark with ample time for people to see where they stand and prepare.
