Finally found this scene in my own playthrough. German version reveals the truth.
The team behind Eiyuden or 505 should name the "localization company", demand their money back and thank the fans for bringing this to their attention.
Remove all hacks. Imagine if Dune characters called each other "commie" or something.
They were probably deceived, like they told them "don't worry that's a totally normal English slang word for a muscle guy haha", further proving malicious intent.
Please post any info you have about the localizers.
Yeah this is always the case, English localizations are the ones that are fricked, while other languages are perfectly fine. Sucks for Anglos I guess.
yeah but the shit part is, usually the other translations are based on the english ones.
Because an English->German translator is gonna be a lot more common and cheaper than a Japanese->German one.
Which means we are getting fricked by proxy thanks to the anglos
its a boon and a curse for German translations. When they translate from the source language, they will go literal, to a fault sometimes even translating names. Very noticeable in Fantasy or Sci-Fi novels
Germans are Rogal Dorns
Most translations of Japanese games are translated from Japanese to German. I constantly have the problem where, when I discuss something on Ganker, the English name for something is completely different to the German translation and when I look it up it's closer to the Japanese term. Every Nintendo game for example does this.
>Because an English->German translator is gonna be a lot more common and cheaper than a Japanese->German one.
Nah. It definitely happens, like it did in NEOTWEWY I believe, but most german translations are Japanese to German.
Even FF7R was a proper translation in everything but english and Square Enix usually doesn't give a frick.
>while other languages are perfectly fine
lol no
>while other languages are perfectly fine
No, only Asian languages like Cantonese, Mandarin, and Korean are fine since they translate it from the source.
>Cantonese
Are there really? Wouldn't that just be written in Chinese the same as Mandarin?
Mandarin uses simplified characters while Cantonese uses traditional chars
Usually any western translation uses English as the base script to translate. This is fine but most are fricked
>Usually any western translation uses English as the base
No.
>two different characters saying two different lines
Why lie? Why not show the same character saying the same line in both languages?
It's explained in the picture.
That's the point, side dialogue is not character-specific. I provided an explanation within the image.
Even if it were, the original picture shows the Japanese text.
There’s no lie, you disingenuous moron. The only lie is that some agenda pushing troony butchered the dialogue just to include an internet buzzword that attempts to insult male gamers. Either do your job correctly or get your troony agenda pushing ass fired and blacklisted.
Games aren't just for gamers anymore. Grow up.
This. People who have never touched a woman are no longer the audience for games. You can come back once you have sex and realize that having right-wing views is wrong. Until then, get the frick out of my hobby.
>right-wing views is wrong
ESL please
you're such a fricking moron. why are you like this?
>anythings not far left is right wing REEEE
this isn't your hobby get the frick out. nobody likes your regarded shit
Based germans. Gut das ich Deutsch gelernt habe.
No one cares.
It's hilarious how you people are going to keep crying about localization, begging for AI to "take over"
When nothing is actually going to happen. Nothing has happened for 30 years. Nothing will happen now.
You lost. Deal with it.
>No one cares
Only the first sentence and it's already a lie. We have threads full of people that care. What you meant to say is that we shouldn't care, because it makes your axe-wound dilate or something.
It sticks in their man-made neo-vegana that we can discuss it here.
>We have threads full of people that care.
Those people are irrelevant, so my point is still correct.
Who are you talking to? Nobody said a single thing you mentioned.
Hacks must be exposed and never hired again, that's all. They must especially stay away from games like this.
>Nobody said a single thing you mentioned.
You know, besides the thousands of threads crying about localization over the past decade and more.
Are these "AI beggars" in this room with us right now?
Maybe not, but I know for a fact that you'll still be whining about localization a decade from now in your basement while everyone simply has fun.
If nobody cares then why change the lines in the first place?
There wasn't any lines changed.
The main part of my post is you people whining about localization while never doing anything about it.
Pic related. You people when it comes to localization.
>Can't translate games myself
>Can't change the industry by myself
>There wasn't any lines changed.
You are clearly mentally unwell. You can see in the picture that the dialogue is about pointing out "brute force" after the character smashes a rock.
The English text changes this into an insult, like "what a musclehead" plus adding a term like "chud".
Ronaldo Karateka
>making up situations in your head
Can a society function where if you point out someone else has fricked up, he can just tell you to do it yourself?
Can you be the garbageman, The butcher and the judge?
>Pic related. You people when it comes to localization.
Okay, fine. I'm willing to do it. Will nintendo hire me?
Only if you get educated and accept leftist dogma.
Meanwhile
>Localisation studios are shitting and pissing themselves because Bamco said they were looking into AI alternatives for localisation/translation
>Majority of the industry has turned against Localisation studios due to them gloating about changing shit to suit themselves and not the actual fans
>Every localisation studio is full of washed up college drop outs who think they are autuers of literacy and writing when they are actually the bottom of the barrel
I hope you have a nice day when your studio goes bankrupt, localisation troony.
Does the guy even act like a stereotypical "chud" in any way?
He looks like Chud. I mean, the problem really is your game is being translated by terminally online people, so of course when asked how'd they say something it's not going to be.
>Behold my mastery of magic
>Isn't that just raw force?
But instead
>Behold my mastery of magic
>BRO literally didn't use magic masterful!
Should translations have a higher standard? I don't know, maybe, that entire scene seems like a very Japanese joke to begin with.
Or maybe Chud is just interchangeable with moron in the translators' lexicon.
The problem with talking to anyone terminally online is, depending on what part of the internet they live in, words can mean vastly different things.
For example, based being used ironically, unironically or Ironically Unironically. Whole thing is a mess.
>He looks like Chud.
>I mean, the problem really is your game is being translated by terminally online people
You are one of those terminally online people. Nobody fricking knows what "chud" even means, it's not a real world and it always exposes the user as a clown who never interacts with real people.
>Nobody fricking knows what "chud" even means
Cannibalistic Humanoid Underground Dweller anon it's not that hard.
So you're saying this movie exists in the game's universe?
You guys are deranged.
Anon, just be honest for once in your life.
Just was this is either faked outrage or you're insane.
It's a bad "translation" made for political reasons and you are currently sperging out because people are aware of this.
>Wait, so the term is from this movie? How does that work?
>You belong in a mental asylum
talking to you two I feel like I'm fricking in one.
Considering you think this is acceptable translation yeah I'd say you're among peers anon.
That doesn't answer the question. Why does someone in the game's universe know what a chud is? Did they watch the movie? It being some random internet term, that was one thing. Knowing it's from that makes it make even less sense.
And now we arrive at the ad hominem. Cue the curtains.
I don't even, man. Enjoy your life I guess.
>no dude you don't get it, this niche B-movie's title from 1989 totally made it to the general lexicon and everyone constantly uses it
This cope is hilarious.
>He looks like Chud
Please use proper English words and grammar before you try to defend writing in games.
It's ridiculous that the localizers use words that aren't even in the English dictionary while refusing to use common Japanese terms anyone remotely familiar with Eastern media would recognize.
That's bud the chud in the pic. That's who he look likes.
Chud is a shitty forces meme and a word only leftist use.
If you use the word Chud unironically, then you are a terminally online individual who weights 400 pounds irl and hasn't left the basement in 10 years.
Obsessive political brainrot individuals don't have to worry about the real world because they either live with their parents or their crippling obesity is so bad the government pays you to stay home so no one has to stare at your fat ass.
>work yourself to death on dream project
>troony brits with marvel/rick n morty brain rot piss on your legacy
Makes me sad.
He literally died to bring back this style of JRPG after Konami held it hostage since 2006.
It's so weird, but I'm happy they pulled it off. All the more reason to protect these projects from cheap hack companies.
>dream project
>shovelware gimmicky jrpg with a meme translation on top of that
kek
Ah yes, I love my fantasy JRPG worlds that know what the frick 'chud' means.
505 is cheap and shitty and always has been.
This scene is basically the same in the german and english translation sadly.

From some random let's player I found.
So some parts are based on the english translation, while others are based on the japanese original?
Or maybe they just couldn't find a translation for chud (there isn't a suitable one in german) and looked for this specific case what the character actually says in the original?
Ich hoffe eiinfach mal, dass der Großteil der Übersetzung auf der japansichen Fassung basiert.
wow thats crazy! i dont give a shit, the game is really fun
Thank Nvidia for AI, can't wait until we can replace them.
lol imagine working as a game localizer and putting "chud" into it
vyvanse must have been out of stock that day at the office
thankfully the game turned out great and I haven't seen any other moments like this
Realistically would it be legal to open a patreon to make proper fan translation mods for games? Maybe I can put the Japanese I spend a decade learning to use.
>translators just completely missing the chance to insert a "Wizard casts Fist" joke
Inserting agitprop/idpol/'owning' $IDEOLOGICALENEMY_CURRENT ranks higher than jokes on the leftist vandalizer's priority list
I'm not affected by the US translation, I'm just happy the game is finally here. But I fight for what's good and beautiful. I don't want these people near my games.
This moronic line should start STOPFRICKINGLOCALIZATIONS movement.
What were xhey thinking?
What you guys need to realize is that the only people getting translation jobs for games are terminally online zoomers.
So this is the translation you're going to get because this is how they talk.
I don't know about others but I realize that. That doesn't make it good, not by a long shot. Hell, i wouldn't mind the chud shit if it made sense honestly, it's just jarring to see internet lingo shoved into a mismatched setting. I've played games with made up swears and insults before, this is basically the same thing. The problem is that it doesn't fit the world knowing it's from internet crap.
Of course, it's not good. When I said a terminally online zoomer was responsible for anything, it's a red flag. Problem is it made it past the editor who either didn't give a shit or is also a terminally online zoomer.
So you're left with two recourses, learn Japanese or accept the fact that in the next 20 years you'll witness worse and worse translations and eventually when words become popular enough they get canonized.
Rizz is in the Oxford Dictionary. Just like Ye old English changed, Modern English is changing, and it's changing fast as frick because of the net.
I'd pick up a moonrune book because I don't think it's going to ever go backwards.
Point taken. If I ever get the drive to learn a new language, I'll be doing so.
Hey anon maybe it's not as bad as I thought. if what
said is true
>Bamco said they were looking into AI alternatives for localisation/translation
Then at least it's possible we'd get a solution that could remove more modern words that appearing jarring and frick immersion.
I'm not a big AI fan, but if the localisation studios are just doing dog shit fan tier translations at this point without any professionalism, and getting paid then maybe it's deserved.
We can only hope it AI really does advance translation software.
It's up in the air and will likely stay there for a while. Actual modern English is fricked though, but I guess that's just not anything I can do about that considering I don't want to leave the country.
It also doesn't help that people who actually give a shit translating stuff from Japanese to English don't care about dumb chinese cartoons and video games.
I wanna frick Milana and Carrie.
>Bitchy witch looking character calls a muscle wizard a chud
Am I in Bizzaro world?
I always play on English because hearing the corny anime lines sounds kinda cringe in German. Now I get to choose cringe or censored... frick
That's why most weebs prefer subs over dubs.
If they can patch out Hard R from stellar blade the same day it releases over some made up controversy, they can patch this fricking nonsense out as well.
Is it voiced? If so I expect the VA would possibly raise some shit over it. Or alternatively cost extra or something. Just spitballing, I freely admit I know nothing of the process.
