>Find the Army quest in Hyrule after beating teh 4 temples
>"damn wish I had found it sooner this will be too easy"
>get oneshot by white goblin
wtf??? I beat it by abusing my ghosts afterwards, but if I had found this quest early on, there would have been no way to do this and it's one of the first quests you can run into
>basic bitch enemy does more damage than ganon
this game sucks
this wtf. I'm more horrified of getting one tapped by a white gremlin than I ever did fighting any bosses
at this point in the game, if you're running around in un-upgraded armor then you deserve what you get.
It actually gets worse then because I upgraded my armor and now every enemy does 1/4th of a heart and I have like 20.
Where do you even get people to sing for the fairy?
Whole quest chain for the fairies starts after joining the Lucky Gazette near Rito Village. Go to the Woodland Stable after that to start getting the band back together.
That first fairy will show the other three on your map, each is near a stable.
Then why the fuck game doesn't allow you to upgrade the most rare sets?
>didn't dazzle it
>didn't put a ruby/topaz on his shield to stunlock it
>didn't upgrade armor, nor is packing fairies
>didn't retain the mandatory perfect dodge training from the early shrine
>doesn't know how to play
>blames the game
I fucking hate zoomers like you wouldn't believe.
play something else retard.
>opening cutscene shows you're easilyoutmatched at full power
>somehow thinks it's still not possible to lose because he played Skyrim on Very Easy
give up man, their entire generation is worthless.
>zoomer is crying and shitting his pants and screeching "zoomer zoomer zoomer!"
shut up pansy lmao
You’re boring
He's right
>if I had found this quest early on, there would have been no way to do this and it's one of the first quests you can run into
are you suggesting that is a problem?
If you did it earlier on there wouldn't have been as many or any silver enemies, I didn't see any when I did it after 1 temple.
BOTW and TOTK have enemy level scaling. I'm not sure if TOTK uses the exact same mechanics but in BOTW the more of a certain enemy type you defeat and your main game and shrine progress, will cause some of that enemy to rank up.
>Didn't just stunlock it into the corner with a heavy weapon
I don't think enemy scaling is tired solely to temple progression, I did two temples then I fucked off to explore and while exploring I gathered a shit-ton of hearts, the master sword, all sorts of bollocks, now there's silver enemies EVERYWHERE, every group of enemies is just silver + black. Since they now can't really get any stronger it wouldn't make sense for it just to be temples.
I got hit with the silvers with only one temple done.
Only doing Shrines count for scaling shit up.
Botw had a hidden level/xp system.
The higher level you are, the higher quality of weapons/items you find in the world, and the stronger variants of enemies you find in the world.
You gain xp by killing enemies and bosses. World bosses/dungeon bosses give a lot more exp per kill than the small mooks do. The only catch: You cant infinitely grind a specific type of enemy. They stop giving xp after killing like 10 of a certain variant (10 lizalfos give xp for kills, the 11th gives nothing etc.) so the quickest way to level is to go out of your way to kill bosses and clear the dungeons. I assume Totk works off of the exact same system
Do you have a source for this information? I've never heard such a thing
There's a >reddit post in the description that goes over the math, kinda.
>Even zelda is on the fucking level threadmill of no progression allowed
Thanks, I hate it.
There must be more to world level this time. I played -10 days to completion, rushing the story, and then played this on launch, doing only the wind temple for mobility, Master sword for a good weapon, and have been doing side quests instead, and I see the same enemy groups in both games, maybe a few more blue than black, but definitely a whole bunch of silver enemies
In botw some enemies were able to level up while others would always stay the same. So there may just be a lot of the kind that can't level.
There also seem to be a few naturally spawning silver enemies like in the depths coliseums, unlike botw.
Correct
The hidden EXP system counts both Temples and Monster kills
Clearing Temples and killing the big solo monsters give a ton of "exp"
I think is based on encountering them the same goes for the golems. Once you find a high level one they are start appearing everywhere
Extremely shitty bandaid fix over bandaid fix game design.
First they give you near infinite heals in a pause menu, then they roll out silver enemies that do nearly x8 base damage + their weapon damage leading to constant one shots unless you upgrade armor or have 12+ hearts.
Then you either end up doing shit like in this webm, where you instantkill any non-silver enemies in a camp/cave then spend ages killing one of those fucks.
The combat is so bad in this game it's unreal.
I hate sitting there and ragdolling enemies into walls because they take 70 hits.
It's fun, built around dealing with multiple enemies at once. These webms showing 1v1s are not representative
>built around dealing with multiple enemies at once
yeah let me tell you how that actually goes
>every enemy gets insta nuked by arrow headshots or one shot by one weapon swing because they're all low power versions of said enemies
>you then spend a minute or more ragdolling the white enemy into the wall
WAAAOOOWWW DOOOOOOD
>unless you upgrade your armor
Then upgrade your armor you fucking idiot
It's a garbage extreme scaling system either way.
Players that don't upgrade get one shot by silvers and hurt a bunch even by reds.
Players that upgrade to max barely get damaged by anything, all enemies besides silver ones will take 1/4 of a heart even if you throw them 50+ damage weapons.
It uses a batshit substraction system instead of procentages that scale far better for these longform games.
If you have 50 armor, than any 50 or sub weapon will do 1/4 of a heart on regular enemies, but if it's a Silver enemy with the same weapon, it'll do 60+ damage and you'll get 2.5 hearts of damage since every point of damage = 1/4 of a heart.
It breaks the game's difficulty soo much that it feels like a cheat engine code.
>Players that don't upgrade
>Players that upgrade to max
It's almost like there's some type of middle ground between that where you could just leave your armor at a certain upgrade level.
>you have to balance the game yourself
>you have to stop yourself from abusing pause-healing
>you have to find your own fun with the Roblox pieces
>dungeons? what's that
>new high quality bosses with wide move set like Lynels? Too much work
>1000 korok seeds? damn that's lit
10/10 masterpiece, flawless game by the way
Lynels have like three attacks
They have 6 overall and an extra three for the different weapons types they use.
Yes this is normally how playing a game designed for children works.
It's why Nuzlocke runs are so popular within Pokemon games.
Open world was a mistake.
Fine, just tell me where to find 2 Lynel's so I can upgrade one single piece of my armor
The game's balance is absolute fucking dogshit you retard. First you gays tell me to sell everything to get rupees to buy armor because the game is too shit to give you money for exploring. Now I have to grind the shit that I've sold to upgrade said armors because the game was balanced by fucking tards
>tell me to sell everything to get rupees
>because the game is too shit to give you money for exploring
But you get the things you sell by exploring...?
99% of the things that you get are literally just fucking worthless weapons/shields
Literally shut the fuck up you did not even play the game
What are you talking about? You make rupees by selling literally everything
>use ingredients to make food to sell
>tons of minerals / gemstones to sell
>copious amounts of other plants that sell
>all those monster parts
You can sell literally everything.
>use ingredients to make food to sell
This one is fucking retarded. Why the hell do cooked meals sell more than base ingredients? If I had known that at the start then I wouldn't have sold so many uncooked meat.
>tons of minerals / gemstones to sell
Yeah, sell your gems and then miss out on the Gerudo that buys them at a higher price. Also, RIP upgrades
>copious amounts of other plants that sell
>all those monster parts
Again, RIP upgrades
Stop defending shit game design. I do a fucking quest and get 50 rupees if I'm lucky. The typical armor piece costs around 1000. Why the fuck does the game keep shoving down my throat shitty weapons instead of actual useful resources?
The BEST way to play TOTK is the following:
Don't upgrade your hearts like a fucking retard and only use armors that give you passive skills like climbing. Enemies never 1 hit ko you, so with 3 hearts you can fully heal with zero effort and investment
There, now I don't have to worry about getting sniped by a silver bokoblin while I'm stunlocking and breaking 10 weapons while focusing a different silver gay
>Why the hell do cooked meals sell more than base ingredients?
You pay for the cost of labor. It's just like that in real life. Grocery store ingredients are way cheaper than ordering something cooked at a restaurant.
>uncooked meat
>can be cooked and used in billions of different ways
>cooked meat
>permanently stuck like that, you can only eat it now
It's stupid. Link doesn't even a cooking certification or anything. Also, it's now an extra fucking chore that you have to do before selling it.
>Why the hell do cooked meals sell more than base ingredients?
Why does a restaurant sell you a steak that costs three times more than the meat you get at a grocery store?
>Gerudo that buys them at a higher price
Does she move around? I saw her like once in BotW at Goron village then never again for 2 entire playthroughs.
I found weapons with Lynel Horns and just had them defused at Tarrey Town. Also I just Sensor+ and focused on open fields to find red and blue lynels. It's not hard if you aren't a fucking skillet.
I've actually never found a regular Lynel outside of the depths colosseum. No clue where they are anymore
There's one in the depths hanging around southeast-ish of Hyrule Field I think, in that general vicinity early on. Pretty sure it was a default one though that may be tied to level scaling
You can tell a Soulshitter was playing this considering how bad they are.
Yeah I love seeing that webm because you can see he already died once there on the minimap. Not the best example of "see how easy this is?!?!"
The combat is just hot trash.
You either abuse flurry, abuse headshots, abuse puffshrooms or abuse stunlocks.
>you use your options
No shit retard.
Think they even buffed flurry. In BotW when fighting Lynels some of their attacks if you dodged them could still get you hit during flurry rush, never had that happen in TotK, even with the big shockwaves from the greatswords/clubs some wield so now it's safer to be more aggressive against them.
So upgrade your armor, you stupid moron
What other RPGs let's you get away with using shitty starter armor against late game mobs?
This has been a thing since FF1 and Dragon Warrior
There's super weird mental gymnastics that go on with games like Zelda where people mind break themselves consuming shitposting on Ganker that the game is super easy and made for babies. So in their brain they should be able to easily defeat everything the game has to offer completely naked with just a wooden stick.
They find out they can't in fact do that at all, so it causes an extreme amount of frustration to them.
Why does the person in this webm refuse to use the far faster charge attack? Also, I can't believe how bad people are at this game. It isn't even hard, Fuse is broken and I'm killing silver morons in half a weapon's durability, which it then drops its own horn that gives anything like +37 attack or so (forgot exact number). It's a net gain to kill them, and it isn't as slow as people are saying either. And that's BEFORE attack up meals or the barbarian armour, which I haven't bothered using.
It's almost ass if the game is not going all unga bunga on everything and you can set up traps, turrets and vehicles and also using effects like the flowers and minerals
The ironic bit in this is that it would go way faster if the guy let the monster attack. the royal claymore does way more damage in a flurry rush than just swinging it around
>red x on minimap
That's all you need to know, really
>not using the spin attack
are you fucking retarded?
If you did your charge attack, it would be dead in half the time.
I never found this quest and I've beat the game and done all dungeons and did about 100 shrines. So does doing this quest make them not show up at the end when you go to fight Ganondorf? Because if so thats really lame as it would make that section much less cool.
I find it funny how your average silver enemy has more health and deals more damage than phantom gannon, but they're everywhere and he's tied to specific locations and events.
A silver moblin could kick his fucking ass.
It was like this in the base game as well.
They changed absolutely nothing.
Here's a tip to destroy these fuckers way faster and w/o breaking 3-4 weapons.
Get puff shrooms and shoot them at their feet, then backstab them for x4 damage.
You can even do it back to back.
>w/o breaking 3-4 weapons
What weak ass weapons are you using that can't handle even a single silver enemy?
My shit lasts long enough to kill at least two of them
That's every Zelda game since OoT anon.
literally just do the great fairy quests. you have to do them in order in this one, starting with the quest by the korok forest stable and talking to penn. upgrading your equipment will literally trivialize every aspect of this games combat, since it's just a numbers game
How does having better armor fix the fact that even with 60dmg+ weapons they take forever to die? Nobody is complaining about how hard they hit back.
did op's comment about getting one-shot not matter to you?
I done 60 shrines so now silver enemies are everywhere despite me only completing 2 temples.
Good, that means silver weapons are everywhere.
Temples are the only thing in the game that doesn't scale.
You can literally one shot bosses with OP weaopns if you just mess around and do shrines for 90% of the time.
>do rito quest first
>spectacular temple and boss
>play for another 20 hours before going to Zora
>not only does the boss look tutorial tier but I kill it in like 10 hits with a wet Lynel Zora sword
Man... if the tier system is true, maybe the gaem could have used a few more for how big the world is
By the time silver enemies are common something else will have "Scaled up" that you may have not noticed; The depths ghostly soldier weapons. By the time I was meeting lots of silver enemies I was also being given lots of untarnished "Royal" tier weapons in the depths, combine the two and you're more than equipped to handle it.
>go through dragonhead island
>how the fuck are you supposed to do this
>can't see 6 inches in front of you
>barely make it from island to island based off being able to see the rain droplet effect on land
>taking jump pads praying it lands me exactly where i need to be
>finally make it to the temple
>there is no way that's how you are supposed to do that
>later on get a main quest that points you towards a mechanic clearing up the lightning storm
Fucking god damnit
Wait there's platforms and puzzles and shit? You can clear the lightning away? The only time I went to dragonhead I just landed directly on the place with the head part, I had no idea what was going on I just thought I'd explore the lightning cloud. You're telling me there's more shit up there?
There's a shrine for sure.
>You're telling me there's more shit up there?
The main quest points you there eventually, yeah
nta but there's another shrine and not much else. it's easier if you launch yourself from the rabella(?) tower and fly over to the tail. to clear the lighting, you talk to tauro in kakariko once you have 10 hearts and start his quest. you also get a free armor set doing this
>free armor set
Which one?
Slutty tummy Link
Are there any costumes that don't make him look like a queer?
Why would there be? Link is canonically gay
>Link is canonically gay
Link fucked Zelda between BotW and TotK.
Link has nutted in every Zelda from every game except the first (seems more like he nuts the Zelda from Adventure of Link). That's how the bloodline of the hero continues after every game.
OoT Link had an entire harem.
all of the returning ones from botw, his default set, unironically his naked form. also link looking gay is his best quality
the OOT and MM ones
Phantom set is kino
Nifty. I'll have to get on it then.
the thunder-attack one, which makes you deal more damage during thunderstorms. works the same way as the frostbite set and shows a lot of skin
I didn't get any quest like that. I had to find the last sage and I was told to look in ancient ruins and that the 4 sages were looking in their own areas so it wouldn't be there.
So I figured maybe it's a sky island and the only ones not readily available are the ones in the storm. And you're right, can't see shit. But nothing helped me, no quests came up. Just that I had to find the sage. So from the top side there's floating chunks outside the storm. I hopped from chunk to chunk and went in the loading bay with the zonai gacha machine. My shrine radar + told me there was a shrine nearby and I found it and from there I found the sage.
I have no idea how you triggered the quest to clear the island because nothing came up for me when it was time to go there
You're supposed to remember Kakariko Village exists despite the game making it way less important than BotW
Kakariko didn't feature in my game in the least. Not one single mission pointed me that way aside from the drum fag who wanted honey
Yeah I did the guests in order. You get the sages, talk to purah, she says she saw Zelda in the castle, you fight puppet ganon, sages come in to help at the end, then she tells you to find the last sage. And that was it for me no hint or anything saying I should check kakariko or any ring ruins
>And that was it for me no hint or anything saying I should check kakariko or any ring ruins
Ah. I guess it was just something I instinctively went towards because the whole entire game I kept thinking in my brain "when are they going to let me explore the ring ruins?". So after everyone FINALLY knew that wasn't actually Zelda despite me knowing for tens of hours, it clicked in my head to go over there to see if I could finally explore it.
Well if it wasn't for wanting to see paya, I would've literally not set a single step into kakariko. I went to it to get the shrine since I was already in hateno. Then I ran into impa somewhere else so I literally had ZERO reason to go back, and didn't, until the honey quest. I didn't even go in the town though. When I finally went to see paya, knowing impa wasn't there, she was cold as fuck and chado from bleach was there and she wouldn't talk to me anymore so I just continued to ignore kakariko.
If it wasn't for nostalgia, I literally would not have ever loaded the area at all
My main draw was the ancient text quest that gave 100 rupees per text and there's like 12 of them. Was decent money so kept me going back there to check stuff.
I was just selling meat so I didn't have to worry about money. The newspaper paid more than 100 per quest too so I was not wanting for cash. At one point I had like 1000 rupees and an hour later I had 4000. I bought a house with that money.
By the way, apparently people are paying 3000 for the house but I paid 1500
>apparently people are paying 3000 for the house but I paid 1500
Yeah I paid 1500 too, wonder if that was due to having Tarrey Town BotW save data?
I don't have botw data so it's not that.
Paya still blushes while talking to Link but yeah she seems way too preoccupied with being the new chief and that's all that's on her mind.
I didn't see that in my game. She was very serious and didn't stutter or anything
>oh hello link, I'm busy being chief, impa just left it to me so I have to do a lot of work, you can go sleep in the inn, bye
Fuck you bitch. At least all the hebes in gerudo town give me attention
Here's the screenshot I got
Can you get one of the way she looks at him out of the corner of her eye when you stand at her side?
She still gives him the fuck me eyes when she turns around. But sorry Paya, Link's too busy hanging out with flamboyant elderly gay men.
>wanting to see paya
I was fully expecting them to make us feel NTR'd and sure enough, the first thing I see is her hanging around a darkie. This shit is just too predictable, I though you were better than this Japan.
You get the Rings Ruin quest after finishing all 4 villages
I beat the game dude. I didn't get the quest. They told me to find ruins, and I did, in the sky, and couldn't see shit, but I found her
Weird, I definitely got it even though I already found Mineru by then. There was a little dialogue sequence with that out of place hot researcher dude
>I have no idea how you triggered the quest to clear the island because nothing came up for me when it was time to go there
Did you do the quest where you find Zelda in Hyrule Castle? I thought I wasn't supposed to go there yet because I figured it was going to lead to the end of the game. After doing that, you're allowed to go to the Ring Ruins which leads to that quest.
i only managed to find the shrine up there with a lot of luck and the sensor, plus a perfectly lucky rail grind that stopped just under the shrine.
is it just me or does using the sage summons tank performance
I fucking hate them, constantly standing in the way and not doing fuck all even when there's enemies attacking me, they just do fucking nothing
Tulin always manage to hit enemies weakpoints so I don't see your complaints
Well I'm glad for you because my tulin doesn't do fuck all even though I used a will on him
Yeah agreed. I was fighting 3 red bokos and he just kept missing.
Tulin's bad for crowd fights but that lil dude can snipe Lynels better than anybody somehow.
It's really clear when you see people bitching about the combat in this game haven't played it because what really should be panned across the board is how poorly Sages are to manage.
Using them is absolutely bullshit. You can whistle to have them stack on you but once you have more than like 2 of them out, they become completely unusable
>the one you are trying to use constantly running from you
>when you try to use one, another is used because they just stack on each other
>using random powers because you're just trying to pick shit up
I have no idea how this wasn't playtested out and put on a specific button. Have you hold shield block and hit a modifier button or SOMETHING. Like holy shit I fucking hate using sages. I'm at the point where I don't even have them summoned the majority of the time anymore.
>Get Mineri
>Oh shid a customizable ridable mech!
>Mech is slow as fuck even if you put fan on the back
>Its weak as shit too no matter what you equip it with
Whats the fucking point
>can't even break rocks with an attachment-less punch
Yeah that was the only hope I had for it. Literally the only application I have for it is when I'm too lazy to run around gloom so I mount into it.
But more often than not I completely unsummon Mineru because I've accidentally gotten into it mid combat from trying to pick stuff up and I end up taking more damage than I normally would because the combat in it is so fucking weak.
>>can't even break rocks with an attachment-less punch
What? Yes you can. that's my go to way to mine zonaite
I should've been more specific. I tried on those big rock walls and it didn't work. I guess you can mine the mineral stuff which is helpful
Oh yeah that was disappointing. Yunobo can blow them up in one go though so it's not too big a loss
Well yeah, Yunobo's job is clearing rock walls. He's your repeatable bomb power.
Jumping off Mineru gives bullet time and bows are king so she's one of the better sages. I find it funny how frequently I'm bulk buying dozens of arrows due to how much mag dumping you have to do on these gleeok and construct shits. Lynels at least you come out with a surplus
I unsummon the mech because its huge and always blocks my camera.
Beat the game last night and I'm honestly wondering what the final sequence is like if you ignore all the dungeons and don't get the Master Sword.
It seems like they saw people speedrunning BotW and decided to make them suffer
There is a full on boss rush after defeating Ganon's army. You have the 5 dungeon bosses plus the Phantom Ganon clones you would have fought after chasing fake Zelda around Hyrule castle.
So wait, without the Dungeons you
>Have to fight Ganon's Army alone
>Have to fight all of the Dungeon Bosses alone
>Have to fight the Phantom Ganons alone
>Then have to fight three phases of Ganondorf, including his Phase 2 Gangbang
>All while wielding just whatever weapons you can manage to salvage off Bokoblins
Jesus Christ.
Yes.
And I've done it.
It's an incredibly fun challenge
Speedrunners just dupe gemstones and lynel weapons so it's no hassle for them
>just dupe
I haven't done any duping but I'm really getting to the point where I may just say fuck it. Fairy cost for upgrading armor is such a pain in the ass and I just want to fuck around with some other armor sets.
the horde drops plenty of weapons, arrows, and fuse material fodder at least
You get a save point right before ganondorf. It doesn't show up on your save screen so you can only use it from the continue button after you die. So you don't have to do the boss rush every time but you can't go back and get more resources without loading your save from before the boss rush.
The ghosts are based, just use the fat one and the girl whenever they are ready and you wont lose any weapons at all (just arrows).
When did getting one shotted become "difficulty" in video games?
Since their inception. It's what led to health systems instead. Souls games popularised getting one-shot again.
It's always souls bullshit. That's the series I would erase from existence if I could.
never played a mario game?
The only sage I need is Mineru.
How did such a mediocre game get 10/10?
take base game of botw + shaking up the formula a tiny bit with new mechanics and enemies + make slight modifications to the overworld, making it hyrule but different +add DA DEPTHS aka the best part of the game = pretty good game. it helps that they already made made of it 7 years ago so they could focus on the new shit
The depths is just reskins and Zonaite farming.
It has less content than BB's chalice dungeons.
The depths is like a weird inverse of the surface world. Like they just flipped the map upside down and added some shit.
The depths is such a wasted opportunity it hurts. Like there are no unique biomes, no use of potential verticality, nothing but the same zonaite mines and monster camps repeated ad nauseum.
>Like there are no unique biomes
I guess you could count the fire temple having a lava biome but it just makes it feel even more like a wasted opportunity. I think that's the only spot in the entire depths that has a variant weather.
There's also some random lava falls beneath the mountains past Fort Hateno.
It's the most repetitive grinding I think a Zelda game has ever had.
I found a depth colusium and you know what it made me fight?
New boss? New enemies? A Lynel?
4 fucking waves of Moblins, each one having more silver ones added in.
Then I found a cave with a ton of rocks blocking the way that took ages to clear.
What was inside?
A fucking Skelton-Hinox and 5 regular skeleton Bokoblins.
A gangbang of silver lynels hide Majoras Mask.
I found that coliseum early and thought for SURE it had some shit like the barbarian set, had to come back 3 times before I was geared enough to kill everything. I was hugely disappointed it was just Majora’s Mask.
I feel BotW fans deserved far more with the addition of the depths. Even just one landmark that evokes the feeling of reaching Nokron or Nokstella in ER for the first time.
So far the best time I've had in the depths is doing one of those mazes. Going from land to sky to the depths was really exciting.
But even then, it fucking cucks me because the depths just had another construct boss to fight.
WHY WOULDNT YOU MAKE ME DO A MAZE IN COMLPETE DARKNESS. IT WOULD BE FUN
depths needed more biome diversity and a couple more new enemies
This. The Death Mountain stuff was cool. Would have been nice if the Gerudo underground and the Lanayru underground were different.
Every biome shou'd ve had a bunch on unique enemies and bosses alongside the regulsar Moblins and Bokoblins, not just the fucking desert.
>Every zone has the same enemies
>Except Gerudo Desert
>Gerudo desert gets three new enemies unique to them alone, plus Molduga stillonly spawn there
>It also gets the best Village questline with the most effort put in
>Also Riju is hotter and now legal
And make those new enemies pose a genuine threat while you're in the Depths, something like the hands but far more common and aggressive. Something that can fly and take down your vehicles, fuck if I know. A location like the Depths should make the player feel like they're in constant danger and give them reasons to leave the place and refuel every so often. The Gloom mechanic alone doesn't accomplish this since it's so easy to avoid and the debuff isn't as crippling as it may first seem.
Wall Masters would be neat. If you travel too long in the darkness they'll start spawning and try to snatch you off your vehicle/horse
why is sidon's ghost so unbelievably shit
His ability is shit and he's really passive in combat so yeah, he's shit
? he is basically a free one-hit immunity, can be valuable against strong close combat bros
Support ghost that has a melee AI who will stick to enemies but rarely attack, so in a prolonged group fight he'll spend most of it staring down an enemy on the other side of the room.
I have no qualms with spamming puffshrooms and bomb arrows with how bullshit the difficulty is in these 2 games.
>100+ hours in
>upgraded armor
>defense up potion
>lots of hearts
Woah dude you just got one shotted again!
Is there a solution to the stormy sky island or is it always bullshit with no visibility. I've been struck by lightning with absolutely no telegraph that it's going to happen and no metal items equipped.
Yeah there's a mini-quest right under it.
I was pointing in that direction after something to do with the Ring Ruins and I got that quest after some parts of the main quest.
I assume you could do it before then but it'd be pretty tough to figure out I think.
I got pretty damn far into that area before I ran out of stamina potions and had to peace out. It seems possible to do with the storm going.
>It seems possible to do with the storm going.
It is, yeah. I more-so meant if it was possible to stop the storm without the quest.
I did it through the storm but the froggy armor helped a ton as there were times I'd fuck up and end up trying to climb shit and it was pretty necessary.
>struck by lightning
>he didn't do the Yiga Blademaster sidequest
Does Tulin's wind help in anyway during combat? I'm not sure when/how I am supposed to use him. His power only seems super useful when I'm paragliding.
you answered your own question lol. his summon is unironically the most useful overall too since it's utility
...Then why did they make it so you can use him on the ground when it doesn't help in any way? What the fuck?
>w-why does pressing a activate his skill???
nobody said this system was well designed but they really have no reason to NOT allow it on the ground
Because if you're standing on the edge of a cliff you could activate his power preemptively, as doing so after jumping would cause you to lose some height in the process.
The controls are still shit though.
There is one use which is that you can freeze enemies and use the wind to blow them into water to kill them.
>can push enemies off cliffs
>can push away shields / weapons that enemies drop
That's about all I found it for. However in general he seems to be the most useful from a pure combat perspective as he'll snipe the shit out of weakpoints
Pushes enemies down and gives free attack windows. Could also potentially blow them off ledges or into hazards.
It's not much but it's there. His real damage comes from him randomly stunlocking and murdering enemies with triple headshot volleys, especially when you buff him with a Sage's Will.
If you freeze enemies and use the gust, you can make them slide halfway across the damn map. You can kill large bosses with this combo in less than 5 seconds by freezing them and blowing them into some nearby water.
>upgrade armor
>farm max health
>still get oneshot by half of the enemies
What was the point then?
you're literally just shit then idk what to tell you. i've had enemies hitting me for 10 hearts go down to three
What does it have to do with me being shit? Simply not getting hit is a relatively easy solution, but what am I upgrading my armor and hearts for when these morons still chew through my huge healthbar as if it was nothing?
As long as you have full health you cant get one shot. I only have 10 hearts and use non upgraded fierce diety and I havent gotten one shot by anything yet.
Are you sure? It feels like one shot protection isn't around anymore. I've gotten one shot by Hinoxes when I was running around with 5 hearts
I get left with a quarter heart when taking a big hit from full. Maybe hinox are an exception, I dont remember getting hit by them since they are so slow.
I could be misremembering and was missing some health, I'm not certain either.
One shot protection is more like “one shot protection as long as you’re full hp and the incoming damage doesn’t exceed your max hp + 5 hearts” or something like that. I can’t remember the exact math but if your max hp is too low then really high damage attacks will still one shot you at max hp
I've never see an enemy attack kill someone from max hearts, but other damage sources like fall damage will do it.
Lynels have killed me from max hp when i had 5 hearts max.
>I've never see an enemy attack kill someone from max hearts
At the start of the game in basic 9 DEF armor and 5 hearts, a shit ton of things one shot you. Lizal bows and boomerangs, Talus punch, anything with a high damage spear and more.
In Breath, one shot protection keeps you from dying from a single hit. It did not protect you from damage taken after taking said hit, like rag-dolling, secondary elemental damage from fire, ice, or lightning, or another enemy swing.
Taking a full butt blast from a hinox also has a separate shockwave from the impact which can easily finish you off.
>The Sages cannot reach you here
>mass produce ancient tech
>nothing personnel kid
lets you continue questing/exploring hassle-free.
Are Diamonds useful for anything or should I just sell them?
There are a whole bunch of side quests where you need them, dont sell, hold it, bitch.
i use them as wealth benchmarks, tbh. like if i have 8 diamonds and 20 rubies, i would only sell 12 of them. you should only really sell diamonds to the gerudo woman in goron city, if ever
How old are Link and Zelda in this? Somewhere around 30?
Mid 20s i think atleast 7 years have passed and link is supposed to be 15 to 17 pre shrine of resurrection
Are there enough sage's wills to give every sage one?
>get hit
>pause game
>eat 40 apples
>unpause game
why haven't they fixed this yet? It sucks, I don't want to be forced to do this for every time I get hit, why can't enemies just drop health like they used to in real zelda games, or grant me some other form of life regeneration that doesn't force me to play cheap?
Have you considered NOT doing that?
There's literally no other way to regenerate heath, at least none I'm aware of is what I'm getting at. What happened to heart drops from enemies, containers and bushes? Felt much more sensible and enjoyable instead of simply pausing the game and navigating a menu to instantly regenerate health whenever you fucking feel like it, even during boss fights.
In general, I can't help but feel that this game punishes honest ply, and instead incentivizes to skip any challenge by being cheap and skipping puzzles and fights with some dumb contraption you got off youtube, while just pausing and healing up in case you actually do fuck up for once.
>There's literally no other way to regenerate heath
Have you ever considered the preventative measure of just...not taking damage?
This.
I play this game the same way I play Bayonetta. Just don't get hit lmao
All in on stamina right off the bat, everything is going to one shot me anyway.
You can heal yourself a bit by attaching Light Dragon parts to weapons. Gives a quarter heart for each hit you land. I only managed to beat the Phantom Gangbang without going back and doing more cooking by attaching a Horn to the Master Sword.
Wow it's almost like this game is going for a more sensible and realistic approach to loot which is a direction Zelda has been taking for a while now with its mainline games!
Where were you when bombs and arrows stopped dropping from grass in Twilight Princess?
>Wow it's almost like this game is going for a more sensible and realistic approach to loot
>Where were you when bombs and arrows stopped dropping from grass
So why are Bomb Flowers a thing then?
In Twilight Princess? They're not, they were replaced by bomb spiders or something.
>literally stopping time to enjoy a full 5-course meal mid-combat
>realistic
I think you need to go play something else.
>force
Who the fuck is holding a gun to your head and making you play like a moron?
I only heal by sleeping at a bed or by completing a shrine.
I only eat if I'm at a campfire.
It's literally that simple.
>bro just self impose challenge
>make your own fun
>nintendo doesn't have to put effort into designing their games
same as bethesda brained retards waiting for mods to fix the game
>I only heal by sleeping at a bed or by completing a shrine.
What are some of the ways you guys impose some difficulty upon yourself? I like to figure out dungeons without using arrows or items of any kind. I also abstain from bomb arrow spam since that's pretty much the easy solution to every fight.
Though I must admit I have been enjoying pretending to be a ninja and using puffshrooms to sneak attack entire camps even though puffshrooms seems a bit OP.
I only use bomb arrows for destruction. I've stopped using them entirely in combat.
Yeah the depths shrooms are great, both the puff and the mind one.
I also will only going into an encounter with one weapon. If it breaks mid combat, I will prioritize weapons that have been dropped in the encounter.
I haven't upgraded any armor past two stars and I probably won't as it feels like a good spot difficulty wise.
How the fuck do you beat the hands without bomb arrows
Like everything else, puffshrooms are awesome. You can't sneak attack them but for the duration of the puffshroom, they won't really be able to grab you. Or they'll attempt to and miss. Also combinations of throwing any elemental shit.
I don't know man I just flashbang them and run away like a bitch.
I want those sweet sweet gloom weapons
Just snipe their heads with the element they're weak to. Sadly, I don't think lightning is weak to anything but the one on the bridge is fire right?
>I don't think lightning is weak to anything
Not even water which is stupid.
just normal arrows and practice your gyro aim. it does take a lot of arrows though like 20-30.
I've got a friend that only progresses ground via ground - he doesn't glide anywhere unless that's the only way to reach a place.
Fix what? That is the intended game play. Well technically you're supposed to eat 40 apples that you combined into 15 "steamed fruit platters" or whatever but same thing.
Bro you're kind of missing a core aspect of the gameplay, cooking. There are extremely easy recipes for people who aren't into it. If you can't toss a few mushrooms, apples, herbs and meat into a pot every once in a while then maybe this game isn't for you.
Youre acting like the cooking mechanic isn't also just "choose shit in a menu" as well. Cooking 10 things via menu and then eating 10 things via menu isn't really much different than eating 20 things via menu.
If you want to bash your head against the wall and constantly be hunting for apples because you refuse to use a core mechanic that's your business.
>Just choose shit in a menu
Welcome to video games sir. Specifically the RPG/ARPG genre.
I dunno what your post said but I want that 2B to lay on me.
They could've made it so food always heals gradually and not instantly. Add to that some kind of hunger meter that reduces regen rate the higher it gets, but doesn't prevent you from healing if it fills up completely.
This, even Genshin has a fullness meter that prevents infinite food spam and promotes high tier foods that heal more per % of fullness they use up.
>They could've made it so food always heals gradually and not instantly.
Jesus Christ fuck off with that shit.
That garbage mechanic ruined Minecraft.
But there's significantly more anti-fun involved in Minecraft's implementation, which is losing hearts or the ability to sprint as the hunger meter depletes, and that's literally the furthest thing from my suggestion
>eat 40 apples
where did you get 40 apples? I've found myself without food at low health way more than I'd care to admit.
There’s a huge apple orchard somewhere in southwestern central Hyrule, maybe somewhere around Satori mountain?
There's a golden apple orchard right next to a shrine.
>Zelda invented the Estus Flasks with fucking bottles.
>instead of using it, they decide to use the most retarded health recovery method possible
>double down on the sequel
nintendo are hacks, totk is a shitty sequel
>food only very very slowly regens you and not for much health at all, but food is mainly there for environmental buffs like hot/cold resistance and climbing/rain buffs or whatever
>potions are for healing and damage/defense bonuses or also elemental resistances to have an emphasis and making elixirs
>Elixirs are harder to make than food by a longshot because of them requiring specific materials
>limit how many elixirs you can have with a bottle system reminiscent of the old games
there I fixed your shit nintend
and I'm just some fucking guy
embarrassing
I like this actually, good job but what separates pots from elixers
Nothing I'd say, they would both share bottles
The food is there as a slow last resort regen
>countless other games allow you to pause in menu and eat to restore health
>but when zelda does it it's the worst thing ever
It's always been bad. It's shit when DMC does it, it's shit when Skyrim does it, it's shit when Zelda games it. Real-time healing is always the superior design choice.
At least DMC gave you a bad rank for doing it. It immediately made you feel shame for it and encouraged you to just get better.
>He doesn't even cook meals
Lol. What a gay.
This game really sorts the button mashing flailers from the slow tactical combat chads
This game is more button mashing friendly than the musou spin off.
I never thought about it like that before, that's kinda fucked
>that's kinda fucked
>a game where literally the only content is combat has a deeper combat system
It's not really all that weird, is it?
>"deeper" combat is gluing rocks to swords
Learn to read
musou's generally a lot of mashing your best attack until you win with little to no regard for the enemy, and to be fair age of calamity is also that way for like 1/3 of the cast
totk could've had more puzzle elements to enemies, but the golden options of "hit it until it's dead" and "shoot it in the head if hitting it doesn't knock it down" work on pretty much everything, and most things with item/element weaknesses just utilize that as a bonus rather than a requirement to do the usual with the basic options. Gibdos are the only exception I've seen so far, but the game spoonfed that solution from multiple NPCs and the main story and it's still just "hit them, but with an element"
It's weird. It makes me question if maybe I'm just retarded but in a game where there is a fusion mechanic of attaching almost anything to your weapon, I find myself just 99% of the time attaching a strong weapon / part to a durable weapon and just hitting stuff to death.
I think balance could go a long way to making combat more enjoyable. The issue I have a lot of the time is you spend 10x the time to doing 1/10th of the damage. The game feels like it's actively discouraging you from taking more creative approaches to combat encounters.
Same goes for a lot of the zotai stuff. Spend a ton of time building something that does dick for damage. It's okay to do once for fun, but it's not something you're ever going to do again. You'll just go back to the big damage weapon attached to a big damage weapon.
>The issue I have a lot of the time is you spend 10x the time to doing 1/10th of the damage
autobuild cuts out the time investment after the first time you do it, at least
even in the unpatched game you can whistle while moving
what you can't do is whistle while sprinting, which let you recover stamina during a sprint in botw
Stealth also goes a long way or just sniping with muddlebuds and letting them off each other.
Why is cooking in real time but eating is has an in-pause menu animtion of Link eating?
Why isn't that animation played in real time? It takes 2 seconds.
Is this too hardcore for tendies? Ok sure, then maybe have this fearure only on hard mode instead of making garbage regenerating enemies.
Fucking shat myself the first time I dove into the depths and there was a frox waiting with its mouth open under me, terrifying shit.
> they just outright removed muh durians
Understandable as they're broke as shit but still lame
Those two Lizalfos at the Faron Tower ate them all.
I was wondering why I didn't find any in the jungle. Also all hearty ingredients seem to be more rare than in botw.
How were durians broken?
Durians would give you bonus hearts and since they were common and grew in groups like bananas you could fill your inventory with full heal, plus whatever heart meals and never worry about anything.
hylians genocided durians because of their stench
Saying "just upgrade your armor bro" is such a stupid excuse. Need to unlock fairy fountains by running across the whole world then you need to farm the right materials (some things like the dragon claws/fangs/scales are super shit to farm without duping because they are limited to only 1 per 10min, and that timer is shared between claw, fang and scale) in stupid quantities and even then you'll run into shit that hits harder than any of the actual story bosses do, even within the very same temple. All the soldiers in Wind and Water Temple hit harder than the bosses there do (altho how do you even get hit by these bosses without doing it on purpose? lmao) and the final boss fight does like 1-2 hearts of fixed gloom damage with some moves in second phase permanently removing a heart during the fight meaning the boss has to hit you a fuckload for you to actually die if you have some hearts (10+ if you did spirit temple) because even at a quarter of heart you wont die until all your hearts are gloom'd/gone.
The armor upgrade system is fucking stupid anyways
I upgraded the fierce deity armor effortlessly but the royal guard gear with the same set bonus and no attack up requires 9 NINE BOSS BOKOBLIN HORNS of each variety, I could only find one normal boss bokoblin ever ONE blood moon.
It doesn't matter anyways, set bonuses are meaningless in such an easy game and getting enough defense makes everything do 1/4th a heart with any armor set.
What are some recipes you know? One of zelda's secret recipes has become a mainstay for me, it isn't terribly good but the ingredients are common.
>Rice
>Rock salt
>Meat
The higher quality the meat the more it heals, I always make sure to cook a bunch of those when it's a blood moon.
Do you know anything similar?
Pizza just purely for roleplay purposes. My Link is literally me (a fat fuck)
So many caves have given me tons of truffles. So I just spam max health food. Even the small ones, you can just do
>4x anything (apples, mushrooms, etc.)
>one truffle
And it'll be a full heal food
I'm pretty sure just one thing with one truffle is a full heal, anything more just increases how many yellow hearts you gain
Oh, good to know. I thought only the big ones did that.
Yeah the yellow hearts system is busted as all "Hearty" stuff has to fully heal you to grant yellow hearts in the first place
Its not ideal
They kind of addressed it with gloom locking your hearts and everything in the endgame does gloom damage
they got rid of duriansfor a a reason. in general yellow heart food is much harder to find in totk than in botw.
One truffle by itself will always cook into a full heal already
I'm a big fan of the crabs and goron Hispanice. That shit sounds delicious. I may actually try some of these recipes.
What is the best way to beat Gleeoks? I'm trying to cross the bridge to reach og temple of time but the fucker always gets me from far away with his laser.
What? You don't need to cross the bridge to get onto the plateau?
I'm a dense fucker who likes challenge, thats how Lynels became easy early on in botw for me.
Then continue, that's based. Go fuck that gleeok up bro.
I attempted that pro gamer mentality in BotW but the first Lynel at Zora's domain fucked me up at least 30 times before I gave up and listened to the load screen advice.
Same. Eventually learned to do the hit head/mount/spank method but at the end of the day the big redpill on Lyonels is the have massive flurry rush opening everywhere.
>massive flurry rush opening everywhere
I can't consistently get those even on bokoblins so I have to come up with other methods.
Shoot heads with arrows during bullet time (aim while midair). Can stunlock them once you get the hang of it and don't forget to manage your stamina.
Lynel Bows + Keese eyes
It trivializes every single encounter in the game.
it's crazy how even a basic lynel bow with eyes lets you skip every gleeok's final phase
made me mad how easy it was
Well gleeoks are easy. Lynels are hard.
>I'm mad the op weapon from the op mob can easily kill a hard mob that's not op
Come on dude
Lynels are easy, what. Gleeoks are easy too but until you figure out how to fight them they are rougher than Lynels because their moveset is more bullshit and harder to avoid.
You just avoid dealing with the moveset by stunlocking them which is easy once you know them
Lynels are hard as fuck moron. They're op as hell. They have tracking range and are super tanky. The gleeoks you just shoot in the face and then you can wail on them. Super easy.
You can shoot lynels in the face to stun them too then mount them for free damage. They also have super generous flurry timing windows that they spam for you to abuse. Lynels are easy.
Yea I don't really get what the point of parry is when there's no benefit. Enemies are left open for a brief moment but you don't get any bonus damage or reduced durability drain like flurry rush.
Depends what you parry but you definitely can knock weapons off from bokoblins, moblins and lizalfos at least with parry. But why bother when flurry rush accomplishes the same thing AND gives you a ton of free damage.
You can literally just spam backflip and spam flurry rush
They have huge dodge windows and are a complete joke to fight
You have a skewed perception of what is difficult in video games. The average person is going to have a hard time with Lynels.
It's all presentation meant to intimidate you
The actual fight is a super simplified pattern
It doesn't help that they just recycled everything from BotW so I, and I'm sure many others, mastered them again in like 10 minutes of practice.
>OP weapon
a 10 damage 3 shot bow is not overpowered
I can get royal bows that do more effortlessly right after getting off of tutorial island.
Bomb Flower Lynel Bow > Bomb Flower Royal Bow
Also 3x and 5x are FAR more generous with aiming. They're pretty much noob crutches.
5x bomb arrows spam is my off switch for any enemies that piss me off.
use a bow with homing eyeballs fused on
or abuse arrow time by jumping off of something or springboarding/using a rocket on a shield
arrow + bomb can hit all three heads at once
I didn't use any tricks for him. I just shot each head like twice, and slashed him. Then he died. Then I used his parts for flame weapons which are disappointingly SMALL despite the parts being huge
>gleook cock on stick
>tiny little club
>get idea and use big stick
>tiny little club, but held like a big stick
Gay, but good against groups
Do constant matrix arrow shots (one of the sages is basically a mobile turret platform so they're ideal for flat arenas) and then build a trampoline pole so the bitch can't run away from you at 25% health
From the very start of the game I was getting my shit pushed in because every monster was the black variant instead of red EVERYWHERE. There was only some reds sprinkled in but the base version of every enemy was black. My most common monster item was the black bokoblin horn, the trident.
After like 2 sage's I decided to do side missions and unlocked the great fairies, which upgrade armor. So I upgraded by regular hylian armor which luckily used the tridents, which I had dozens of. What I ran out of was amber. After that nothing did anything
I didn't start getting my shit pushed in until for some reason a lot of the enemy mining sites in the depths are like all silvers. I'm not even that far, only completed 1 dungeon.
Lucky you. Literally starting fresh on the ground the enemies were all black. I was so sick of getting one shot. I was fucking seething that everything was killing me in one hit despite all my hearts (from shrines, no sages yet)
>Have a side quest to put a sword in the hand of a statue in the hylia field colosseum
>Sword doesn't attach or clip to it or anything
wat
>Silver lizalfos horns turns anything into sick-ass scythes
I don't want to be edgy but it's calling to me..
>make a sick ass scythe with a polearm base
>it still just jabs like a spear
Damnit...
>expecting weapons to have unique move sets and interesting features, like "spears can attack while holding the shield up"
What do you think this is? Dark Souls?
No, I don't play Dark Souls for unique movesets either.
>rush through main story like retarded adhd zoomer
>get punished for it
Sounds good to me, great game.
Post yfw the final boss can dodge
Alright, give me your most aesthetic fusion combinations. I'm tired of trying to make something cool but it ends up just being "thing attached to top of stick". Not sure why some stuff melds perfectly while others don't.
Blue Boss Bokoblin horns are the fucking best on any two hand sword as it makes a cool two handed axe.
You're right but unfortunately my scaling is ramped beyond where blue boss horns are worth anything, I wish it was still worth using the parts that look cool
I always keep one in my inventory and just use it if I encounter red enemies. Or I'll have it equipped just running around
I almost exclusively use monster parts for fusing because they're high damage and easily replenishable
>Blue Lizalfos Horn on large weapons
>Black Bokoblin Horn on spears
I like fusing a lezal tail with my sword, Imma gonna whip zelda huge ass so much
Sheikah stealth suit with the sheikah shield and a blue lizalfos horn attached to a yiga sword is my jam. Puffshrooms and sneakstrikes all day.
I am the sneakyboi.
>fusing the early boss boko stuff
Black WHAT ARE YOU DOING?
Above only matter if you care about upgrading the Royal Knight armor because after the Silvers show up there are only a handful of Reds and Blues on the entire map that hardspawn
I can simply dupe them. It's why I always have at least 1 of every item.
HURR DUPE
what are you a speedchud?
Go find them.
I see a lot of people complaining about the progression of the game but I think they kind of nailed the difficulty ramping.
When I started playing there were certain enemies that made me run, I couldn't deal with gloom hands or phantom-g afterwards, now all these hours later I MYSELF have gotten better at the game and I welcome a fight with red gammon, bring it on you withered old scrote, I'll fuck you up.
And I'll do it naked.
I can barely get flurries even with timing as generous as this game is. My reaction speed is so bad.
They did the luminous set dirty in this game.
Yeah it was a joke set in BotW but you could make it work, with the massively increased health that enemies have now but no bonus to durability the extra damage that bone weapons get from the set bonus is equal to fuck-all. You'll break a lizalfos arm on a white bokoblin without even moving its fucking health bar and that's WITH the damage bonus from the set.
>gloom weapons don't hurt you if they're fused to a weapon
Is this intended? Seems kind of like a bug. Maybe because your hands are physically touching it?
aren't*
Any weapon/shield fused ontop of a weapon don't get the special effect of said equipment and the Gloom Toll is what causes Gloom weapons to hurt you so it's intended. If you were to fuse a spear with Durability++ it would still break faster than whatever you put it on because the durability bonus is ignored.
>Is this intended?
Why wouldn't it be? It was obvious that's how it would work
>this weapon gives you AIDS if you touch it
So I figured I could glue it to a stick to not get aids. Did you think you should still get aids?
I've only found 1 Lynel in this whole fucking game and its smack under the assdick of Hyrule Castle
I stumbled into a Lynel gangban in a colloseum in the depths. Felt like a champ after brute forcing one until I realized there were a bunch more and got fucked up by the second one.
Upon respawning it took away the loot I got from the first one yet still threw the second one at me. First time I rage reloaded a save. If you fucks are going to take back the loot then I'm taking back the food I wasted.
The bonus is worthless but fuck me do I love the look.
Still looks homosexual
All of his outfits do. Listen to the coom noises he makes. These games are gay as fuck. A farcry from SS Link not having any of Girahim's gaytry.
Link spent the last six years between games fucking Zelda. Guy is laser focused on her ass.
He has lasting brain damage from the 100 years of hibernation
>Wake up
>Can't remember anything
>All you know is that something is missing, and that you must kill the darkness
Judging from the videos and pictures I've seen, he woke up with an overwhelming urge to FILL the darkness, in his ass
You've been watching slanderous Yiga productions.
Link has three loves in the world. The Master Sword, defeating evil, and Zelda.
And when Zelda is not in the same plane of existence, cock.
Poor Zelda flying in the dragon realm, crying as link once again dresses as a woman and gets railed by sharks, AND this time he also molests little girls in gerudo town
>And when Zelda is not in the same plane of existence, cock
Anon the entire main quest of ToTK is "Find Zelda". Link's only focused on two things in ToTK; Defeating Ganondorf (which he'll use the Master Sword to do), and savinf Zelda.
You didn't deny that he molests little girls, and can't because it's one of the quests to do so so that you get thrown in jail
I just stripped nude to get in jail
Are you talking about jail in gerudo town? You can just ascend into there too. That's what I did
However can you actually free that husband? I talked to his wife and there's no prompt to even tell her that he's in jail
All the keywords in gerudo town told me to perv on the little girls to get into jail. And no, I was also frustrated that I couldn't tell that stupid bitch her husband was in jail. I think him deciding to "support her from afar" meant that was that
I really need to explore for caves more. Eldin is probably my most unexplored region as I pretty much just b-lined it to the Fire Temple and left. I should really go back there.
I finally got to the point where the guy told me how many caves I have left and it was like 90 something. Fuck me.
This game seems easier than BotW. I'm getting pity quarter hearts a lot and enemies don't seem as aggressive.
plus the lack of Guardians, in the early game/before you nailed parry timing botw Guardians were a nightmare
>plus the lack of Guardians
The Depths seemed like the perfect place to throw in a bunch of guardians. Would be crazy seeing one of those lasers lock on to you out of the complete darkness.
TotK has mister gloom hands man instead
MISTA SHEIKU HANDZU MAAAAN
Nice to see the amiibo equipment is in the base game. I didn't pay a dime for those toys and I finally get to see all the classic tunics.
Now you just have to wait for BOTW 1.3 to come out so you can get the glider skins without the amiiboshit
I don't even care about the ones that available without them.
>Timing on parry is tighter than flurry rush dodge timing
>Doesn't reward you as much as a flurry rush
weird
I feel like the parry should make the enemy drop their weapon. Would make it more rewarding to use it.
>reflects projectiles
>no durability loss
>disarms some enemies
>works on every attack so long as its not wood shield vs fire or metal shield vs electricity
The parry is rewarding and with the fusions has additional effects now. It's a shame there isn't something similar to the guardians laser this time since it was incredibly satisfying to do.
Is there another piece of armor that accompanies the kilt? I only found the kilt and went topless for a long time until I bought the Hylian tunic.
If you want money just cook any two meats together and sell that, there's meat EVERYWHERE and cooking costs nothing, it's free money.
Lynels are a coward filter, if you try to keep your distance and cheese them they're designed to fuck you up, if you go at them intending to fuck their shit up like a man they fold.
Meanwhile the hands are the exact opposite, if you go in gung ho they will grope you into submission
Mineru was my second sage, entirely by accident. I did Sidon first then just spent time exploring the world and visited the lightning place out of curiosity.
She was my first. I went to get Pyper, saw the thunder cloud, and then after a half hour of scumming through the platforms Link beaned his head off the floating ring just above the dragonhead shrine and ate a fairy. That shrine was enough for my 10th heart too
How is there not a better cooking recipe book implementation by now? I know you can look at it on a per ingredient basis, but why can't I just pull up everything and filter by "i'm looking for attack food"?
The things that are attack food are based on the ingredients
Yeah I know, but I guess I'd want to be able to go to an option in the menu and pull everything up as opposed to searching for that one attack crab that is somewhere in my inventory.
I suppose that's just trading one inventory search for another though.
Make sure you upgrade your sets early because late game it becomes a real pain to find the low-end monster mats. I haven't seen a blue hinox in days but I need his horns...
There's a passage under the castle that leads to the "Lockup", there's a portcullis gate stopping you getting in but the puzzle to open that is simple.
Inside that room is two electric like-likes and another locked door to a large round room. Inside that large round room a gloom hand spawns, killing it spawns phantom-ganon as expected.
How the fuck do you actually OPEN that door to get into the large room though? I swear I must be retarded.
The answer lines in the stars above
Hey if that really is a hint then I appreciate it, I'll keep trying to figure it out. Thanks bro.
Yeah as that anon said, the entrance to that room is from outside the prison.
look at the ceiling in the room
>every sage cutscene is the exact same
Did anyone else find this weird? Like I get it, the imprisoning war, we weren't strong enough, we lost, zelda asks us to help, etc.
It really felt like they shouldn't made different cutscenes for each similar to the tears / memories that would play in a certain order depending on when you did the temples.
This. It was hilarious how samey they were with the Sages saying the same thing.
The unfortunate reality of open-world open-ended design, they had to account for the players who may only get one or two sages before attempting to finish the game so each sage has to inform you of the story.
Why the fuck would they care about that? The dragon tears are totally random and people will see Zelda turn into a dragon before seeing the one where she meets rauru. Why would they do THAT but then take special consideration of players maybe doing one or two sages? It's not even actual important plot or story like the tears. It's just Zelda asking the sages to help link
>The dragon tears are totally random and people will see Zelda turn into a dragon before seeing the one where she meets rauru
If you do them properly you'll know the order to them.
Also the last one only unlocks after finding all the others.
>if you do them properly
Yeah, but you can see them in any order, you would if you naturally went to the ones you found. There no order unless you keep following impa, but after the first one she tells you to just go find them. And if you just go find them instead of continuing her quest line, you will find them out of order
The walls of the room with the relief map of Hyrule have them listed in order, I think they even call out the fact that the first glyph is on the left. I took pictures of the entire room so I actually did get all the glyphs in order, but it would’ve been very disappointing to get the story bits out of sequence. The dragon transformation would have been especially confusing if I didn’t already know about the fact that eating an infinity stone is a big no-no.
You can only see the dragon one after collecting all other tears
You can see the one where she decides to become a dragon
but with no context you don't understand what she is doing. There is no moment she says "I'm going to become a dragon, lmao"
Actually I think the only cutscene where they talk about the ability to become a dragon is when Mineru says it's the only way to go back to the future.
Yes there is. There's a whole entire tear about her deciding that she should become a dragon. There's like 3 cutscenes about it
No, you are retarded. I think you honestly just had a brain fart and didn't realize you were being retarded, but now you understand that and are baiting as a defense mechanism.
Just say, "whoops I brain farted guys, sorry" and let it go. Don't be a Twitter/reddit shithead who's unable to admit to a fault
>resulting into pure ad hominem instead of having an actual defensible argument
Ah yes, it seems you have conceded.
Thank you for confirming that you're shit posting out of embarrassment, thus prolonging it instead of just moving on
>There is no moment she says "I'm going to become a dragon, lmao"
The sword memory basically does, especially since it features flashbacks to a bunch of other memories you might not have even seen yet.
Depending on the order of things, it was pretty easy to put two and two together. I actually got the master sword before I even saw the "draconification" cutscene so once I saw that I pretty much knew.
Yeah I got the Master Sword memory right after the Impa tutorial and that basically tells you the entire plot
Yeah what
said pretty much counters to that. It's a really weird structure that could be handled really easily by just forcing scenes to play in a specific order regardless of when you activate them. You could do that for memories as well.
It's good they save zelda's dragon cutscene for last but I never really liked the "piecing together the story out of order" methodology they wanted to go with. It made sense in the first game when you physically went to the locations the cutscenes happened in. But when telling a story that happened 10,000 years ago? Just do it in fucking order.
>get a colgera boss part in the depths
>cool ass hook
>think i'll put it on a two hand sword and have an awesome hook weapon
>it just glues it to the tip of the sword and the entire thing clips into the floor
REEEEEEEEEEEEEEE
Try a zonaite weapon. Parts replace the beamsword so they attach to the actual handle.
>A bunch of hands with music approaches me in the rain
>Somehow dies on its own as it tries to approach me
What the fuck.
So was the Zelda at the start of the game actually Zelda? Or did the Light Dragon exist for all those years and that was Zelda?
She clearly grabbed the stone and that's when she went back in time. But was that just a Ganon puppet leading Link down there to free him?
I hate time travel shit as it starts to fall apart if you think of it a little bit. I would be under the assumption that no Zelda has existed as she's been a dragon for 10000 years but obviously she did go back in time at some point. Does that mean the Light Dragon just randomly appeared after she fell into the hole?
>So was the Zelda at the start of the game actually Zelda? Or did the Light Dragon exist for all those years and that was Zelda?
Yes to both.
So the Light Dragon just didn't exist until Zelda fell in the hole?
It did, it just flew high enough that nobody could see it until the Upheaval.
So how can Zelda and the Light Dragon simultaneously exist? That's what I don't really understand if she herself is the Light Dragon. If she exists in current time, the Light Dragon shouldn't exist at all.
Why wouldn't they be able to?
>Zelda exists in the present
>Goes back in time
>Becomes immortal as the Light Dragon
Because the events of the past where she has time traveled to haven't happened yet if she exists in the future as just a Hylian. If they did happen, she would just be a dragon.
You can't have both. This is why time travel is retarded if it isn't what
is getting at.
>Time Travel
>Hasn't happened yet
>TIME
>TRAVEL
>HAS NOT HAPPENED YET
You know what time travel is, right?
So if they haven't happened then the Light Dragon can't exist, that's what is confusing to me. But people are saying the Light Dragon and Zelda both exist at the same time.
If you were to go back in time by 5 years and wait around until you caught up to the present, the old you would still exist doing the things you did before.
If you go back in time as an adult to when you are a baby, the you that is a baby doesn't stop existing.
Different time lines.
Why not?
Why the fuck not? This has never ever EVER been the case with Zelda games.
It did, it was just super high in the sky
Why are you so stupid?
How could this possibly confuse you? It's a closed loop
Is there a way to fire arrows with the same item attached without pulling up the menu for each shot? This game constantly breaks the pace of combat with menus.
One thing I was hoping was for ToTK to fix the goofy ass balancing BoTW had but it made it WORSE.
>bokoblins are stronger than Phantom Ganon
>lynels are stronger than actual Ganon
>the armor system is the same so the first half of the game 80% of enemies one-shot you while the second half of the game everything dinks off you
>we need a horn for the strongest boblin of them all. All others look like they'd make good weapons, how can we top it?
>how about a yellow tinkly fairy jingle jangle ball on stem?
is there some folklore that makes this make sense?
Angler fish
Unless they're the alphachads of the fish world I don't see connection besides visual resemblance. Why would a lure be the strongest horn?
No reason, but maybe they have dangly things because they were underground so long? I think it's just a visual reference.
Yeah it bothers me a lot too. All the other silver monster parts look really cool like the lizalfos parts and the horriblin parts. But the bokoblins look like wet noodles
I might be a bitch, the last boss fight made me teary eyed
You felt the tears of the kingdom.
>People actually thought they were going to pull a "Ganondorf's actually the good guy!" twist
I sometimes wonder how people get ideas like that.
The irony being he is literally the most "evil for no reason other than to be evil" Ganondorf that has ever existed.
>OoT Ganondorf wants to conquer Hyrule because he’s a dick and thinks he’s the best (ego)
>WW Ganondorf wants to re-acquire Hyrule because the gods are dicks and think they’re the best (weird sense of altruism)
>TP Ganondorf wants to conquer Hyrule because you’re a dick and locked him up for a hundred years or so (revenge)
>TotK Ganondorf wants to conquer the world and immediately flips the script to “destroy the world” if you put up a little opposition (just fucking evil I guess)
I little nuance would be nice, but I never expect the “good Ganondorf” thing to ever happen.
he looked cool.
That was one of the preproduction ideas for BotW right? Link and Ganondorf team up against aliens?
I actually wrote a script based on this. Like I made Link a guitar player and Ganon a drum player and they dream in making it big. Hijinks happen and they accidentally meet Zelda who hides her identity because she wants to experience the life of civilians and she becomes their vocalist. Anyway along the way they are start getting chased down by feds who are revealed to be Aliens trying to undermine Hyrule for an Invasion.
Sounds gay as hell but you do you
Classic Hollywood adaptation
I pray to God they don't make another game like this. Why can't we go back to normal Zelda games?
It's not even that the open world is a bad idea, there's just fuck all that's interesting or engaging to do in it and massive swathes of series staples are missing.
If they made ALttP/LA/OoT/MM but open world people would literally lose their minds
>massive swathes of series staples are missing
What's missing? I can only think of Redead and Darknuts but it feels like they purposefully left out humanoid enemies
I'm not big on the crafting, cooking and breakable weapons side of things. The fun in that wears off very quick, so all you're left with is the knowledge that Nintendo did this instead of providing a tailor made product that gives you a real sense of challenge and progression. When everything has to be able to be done first it throws the old system out the window.
Playing LA made me realize that open progression where you can do everything right away fucking sucks
It makes the world disposable, whereas with LA, every new ability or piece of knowledge I get let's me explore more and revisit old areas in a new context.
LA takes it to the extreme and shows you how it's done best. I also miss having more than 5 items. Sure, the hookshot is worthless when you can climb and glide everywhere, but the hookshot is cooler.
The hookshot would be an incredible exploration tool
Could you imagine iron boots and underwater exploration in an open world like this?
Underwater ships or caves, pirate coves etc etc...
Imagine if the lens of truth or pegasus boots were in an open world like this
I'm too cynical to even think of the application. Straight off the bat you come up with great ways to implement it. Man it just makes me more disappointed.
I don't blame you
They're likely to just do the same game again in 6-8 years because they know it will sell no matter what
I think it can work, the main problem is the exploration only rewards you with convenience.
>getting more hearts
>getting more stamina
>getting more inventory space
>getting more rupees
There's nothing really interesting to find outside of getting new armor sets. There's nothing you get during your duration of playing that changes HOW you play all that much. It just allows you to be a little more brazen than you were before. I'm at a point in the game where I can just run over all the gloom I find without even having to worry about it.
What I'd really like is some way to meaningfully change how you play but keep the same ideology of giving you all the tools you need to progress at the start. I still enjoy getting everything at the start. It's nice not encountering a puzzle in the game and thinking "well I'll have to come back later". I really hate that in open world games because I will almost certainly forget to ever come back, especially in a world this big.
I think that's what they tried to do with the zonai gacha machines but the first pieces you find are so versatile you don't need any others
You can't get all the tools you need from the start and then get anything other than convenience later on. There's no way to change how you play if every option is already available to you.
I think there's something you could do if you separate puzzle tools and exploration tools. Take the paraglider as an example. You don't get it right off the bat, but you get it fairly early on. Preventing you access to this would change fundamentally how you explore. Most people would be pissed with this, so they'd never do it. But it's an example. You could also do things like locking fast travel behind some amount of progress. I can count on one hand the amount of times I've gotten on the horse in TotK that hasn't been because a quest made me do it (like pulling the troupe to a fairy).
I'm still of the opinion that the game should've started you in the Depths as the start. Have Link dive after Zelda and start in a deep black hole that you have to crawl out of. Don't give access to the paraglider for a while and force you to scrounge around a pitch black abyss for a couple hours.
I'm surprised there's no reward for filling out the compendium
wtf really
and I'm running around with the camera like a fucking national geographic reporter
Sorry I was wrong. You get a glider skin
The main draw is if you have it registered, you can use the sensor to find more of it.
So having the pictures is its own reward really.
>heh... maybe the real Triforce was the friends we made along the way... heh... here kid... take this Triforce of Power... I never could get it to work for me anyway... see ya around...
>We have people trying to play this game like its a Souls game
Casual spotted, learn how to actually plan and stop trying to "unga bunga" everything. Your invincibility rolls cant save you here
>it's different because it's a backflip
But it's easier than a Souls game because of midair bow bullet time, headshots, flurry strike baiting and instant heals. Plus with a giant club you literally can unga everything.
But my invincibility of full hearts no 1shot kill + pause + infinite food storage, works
Why did they get rid of the roll? It was a series staple.
Wind Temple > Lightning Temple > Fire Temple > Water Temple
Spirit Temple and Time Temple need not apply
>new enemies are all one shot enemiesexcept horroblins
>new mini bosses are all hit eye thatnhit enemy when they are stunned
>all the enemies that were in botw got only 1 more attack
just wtf were they doing for 7 years
Sorry to break it to you but Zelda enemies have been the same for decades. People getting surprised that another enemy has a weak point you shoot with a bow have clearly not been playing all that much Zelda.
>it has always been sorta mediocre so it outright getting worse over time and not improving OK DOE
shut up cuck
take the jap dick outta your mouth
Yea complete bs how strong an effect armor has. I went from taking like 8 hearts of damage to half a heart when i finally decided to stop getting one shot. Upgrading armor sucks though and its really grindy. I just item duped the materials because fuck waiting for 10 blood moons. Really terrible balancing.
How do you get the dragon shit in this game? I saw them flying down into the chasm so I shot their horn but it got fucking stuck or something
You can ride the Dragons now. If you need horns or scales just find it and hop on its back. Talons might be harder to get.
Wait til they're over land. dropped parts will glow where they land. There's a 10 minute cooldown before it can drop another part you can tell when their spikes are glowing again
Just remove Silver enemies from the game, they are fucking shit and are just HP bloat, i'm not thinking "Oh boy an engaging fight" i'm thinking
"Fucking hell not ANOTHER silver cunt".
You don't even get money from them anymore
the last zelda game I played was twilight princess
I'm considering getting the Switch just for this new one, would it be worth it?
Maybe.
Do you want more Twilight Princess? If so, I don't think it's going to be what you're looking for.
Is it worth buying a Switch for? Depends who you ask I guess. I think Switch has enough exclusives where you can definitely get your moneys worth that it seems silly to buy it only for BotW or TotK
I know they removed the "classic" zelda stuff for a more open world with the last few games but I wanna try it
also, is there any gear or something resembling Majora's Mask?
Majora's Mask is behind a Lynel gauntlet in the depths.
you can literally get Majora's Mask and a lot of other stuff and items referencing previous games
most of it goes from average to good but it can be funny to rund around with the fierce deity's or wind waker's look
I just fucking hate enemies getting knocked over and having to chase them down their drops when you fight on hills
>fighting a silver lizalfos near a cliff
>excited to get a scythe material
>sage knocks it off the cliff
>material never seen from again
Cool.
kek, it never happenned to me idk why it bothers people
It really only gets worse when you have all the sages. I've paired down to only having two out at a time and it isn't too bad.
>trying to chase down Riju when Yunobo and Mineru take up 90% of your screen
AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH
You can whistle to call them near you
But that doesn't help at all when there's 5 of them all stacking on you as there's no way to discern between them as it's all the A button
The one directly in fronnt of you will be the chosen option
So what happens when you're moving around and you whistle and they all move at different movement speeds then when you run into the big clump of them, they disperse or randomly move indiscriminately?
You can't whistle while moving.
But you can? Did you pirate the game?
What you can't do is call your fucking horse, you have to be close to him to make him hear you, atrocious game design.
So the game is magically different because I didn't paid for it?
Are you retarded?
Yes? Your "issue" was already patched out.
I running 1.1.1 on switch, but keep coping.
Not just that but the AI combat is shit.
Except for shotabird, they barely hit enemies and only serve as a distraction at best.
Yunobo at least knocks down almost anything he hits.
It happens to me when I'm spamming the button to pick a lot of items
How is there not a "hold A to loot in an AoE around you" option. Seems like a decent upgrade or reward for something like filling out the hyrule compendium.
based shotabird making sure link doesn't waste inventory space on a shitty apple
I swear he only gets near you consistently when you're about to pick up items
if you weren't retarded you would activate recall and retrieve it, but alas
Yeah I just cant spinattack, shits annoying against silver enemies on high ground
especially when their remains fall in water and I have to recall or ultrahand quickly
I wish the auto pickup from the sky islands when they fall off was a thing you could turn on for land
>queen gibdo does literally a quarter heart of damage
>silver grunts can drop you
>hits you with a tree stick for 15+ hearts
kinda based
just use stunning flowers bro, they make enemies attack each other
>rocket shield
>minecart shield
>spring shield
Anything else worth having?
Find a shield and maxed out on shields? Attach a shield on your shield for more shield.
Various mushroom shields
canon shield
>Link keeps aiming upwards and missing unless it's something directly in front of you and then risks blowing yourself up as well
I wish it worked better...
It aims upwards if you move backwards from what I've seen
It works better attached on a weapon. Then you can aim and shoot with the throw weapon button
shield
shield
shield
what do any of these do?
>Rocket Shield
Revali's Gale 2.0.
>Minecart Shield
Skateboard.
>Spring Shield
Probably rocket shield but not as volatile.
Rocket goes up when you block
Minecart for skating
Spring does a big jump when you skate
Red barrel shield, it's the best option to nuke with shield surf
Ruby and sapphire shields to ignore temperature.
>Ruby and sapphire shields to ignore temperature.
Does this mean you can like go around naked and shite?
Yup
oh shit thanks
Weapons work too. I always just run through the snow area with my fire lizal greatsword
Weapons break too often for my liking. The two gem shields have been in my inventory for 20+ hours.
Not if I don't use it. Shields break too, I don't understand the point.
>thing doesn't break if you don't use it
Yeah duh. Are fusion gem shields somehow indestructible or something?
And I have far more weapon slots right now so it makes sense for me at least to use one of those for it.
You can engage in combat without losing shield durability. The same is not true for your weapon.
>You can engage in combat without losing shield durability
Ah I see what you're saying. Just keeping the shield put away on your back while still being able to use whatever weapon you want.
Yes, I'm retarded.
No, I won't apologize.
Your weapon will break tho, your shield will last forever.
>totk finally gave us a reason to upgrade shield stash instead of maxing out weapon slots first
Finally
You guys don't upgrade the bow first? They break so easily.
Are you shitting me
Big if true
There's a reason cold/heat resistant clothing descriptions mention being imbued with ruby/sapphire
Why is everything in this shitlordian game so expensive?
I literally am too poor to afford arrows.
break every crates you see annon
Can even break them for free by lifting them as high as you can in the air and dropping them (at least the wood ones)
Break crates and pots
Sell your shit, you don't need more than like 2 of each gem at a time
What about Hinox parts?
Same, you get more than enough parts from each kill to replace weapons that you spend. No sense in hoarding if you need rupees
>break pots and crates
How? I don't have arrows to shoot at them and hitting them with my sword either do nothing (crates) or break (both cases)
Lift them up and drop them.
>buying arrows
Just stop using them when you could just throw the item and break any crate you see, I'm constantly around 700~ without even trying to conserve
>mob enemies hit harder than bosses
I was worried they'd fuck up the final boss like Calamity and Dark Beast Ganon. Glad to be proven wrong.
I thought most anons hated the TotK final bosses more than BotW's.
I dunno, I thought Calamity Ganon sucked and Dark Beast Ganon sucked even more.
Dorf felt like a proper duel, and he got the better victory lap.
what? Its even worse now
This trash is so bad.
Tendies aren’t even human.
is there milk in this game?
Yes
Yes
Rocks on sticks or lift them up and drop them
It's hilarious how drab the twilight set looks compared to everything else, fitting tribute to TP I guess
