3 was more fun and more enjoyable the later stages do feel a bit rushed. It feels like a slow opening really fun. Then it's just one boss battle after the next
3 is definitely more fun, but MGS2 is narratively much better. MGS3 being taken more seriously than a fun Bond movie lead to the shitty story decisions later on.
I disagree with 3 being more fun. The game has far more tedious segments and its overall a much slower game. The boss fights are also extremely hit and miss in 3. After The End, most of the the boss fights are shit.. and so are most of the fights before him. The stamina/hunger/healing system in 3 is also lame.
LMAO, Big Shell is the worst gameplay area in the entire series.
Imagine being this much of an NPC. The only places that would be valid are sections like the bomb disposal, or the sniper section - and only on extreme mode for either. Big Shell is otherwise designed very well. Learning how the guards work in each area is immensely satisfying. Meanwhile, 2 has the best boss fights in the whole series. They're fast and demand perfection on extreme mode.
MGS3 is fun, but it's just slow and tedious. Meanwhile, you say that about Big Shell - but any interior level in 3 is leagues worse in design and they're unsatisfying. Even many of the outdoor areas feel slapdash.
3 is gay and for gay sex lovers. 2 is kino and has god tier gameplay too good for morons like you.

the arsenal gear section that takes away your equipment was a giant shock during a first playthrough due to, well, everything, but on replays it's disappointingly short
raiden was one of the best kept secrets in videogame history, he was in none of the promotional material, trailers, sneak peeks, nothing, and when it was revealed that you play as him instead of snake for most of the game some people were insanely pissed
the raiden hate trumped even the initial nero hate until years later, though revengeance helped him become a fan favorite

I'm playing it for the first time and I've got to say, it's REALLY good, but this fricking "It's a masterpiece" is bullshit. The writing isn't as bad as a lot of you homosexuals make it out to be, but it's definitely not as good as early Kojima. At least it's brief. The tapes are pretty good.

Honestly the MGS V meta narrative went right over my head...if there was one. I got the whole language and parasite voice thing, albeit convolutedly .. but where the story bleeds over into the real world; when you have meta narrative like in MGS2..i didn't see too much of it. Im genuinely curious maybe I should give the game a second run and try pick up on some things I missed

I think the game is unfinished and has a lot of problems, but thankfully with the true ending released I can sort of experience what his original vision was.

Naturally she explores the truth after being reminded of the Fireflies and fighting with Joel about the lie he told her about there being other immune people. And this shits up their relationship, understandably so. Meanwhile, Joel's actions in wiping out the FireFlies won't go unpunished because you can't wipe out a paramilitary faction and get away with it if someone's been shown to have been relentlessly tracking you down over the course of 4-5 years.
Ellie's anger derives from spending the few years left with Joel by being mad at him. She's lost the agency to forgive him just after opening up to him about ready to do so.

I think people don't give enough credit to MGS2's actual gameplay, it was such a massive leap forward compared to 1. Maybe I'm actually crazy but I preferred the stealth gameplay of 2 to 3. It's just tight as hell.

Because at the release MGS2 ran at 60 fps and had the environments optimized for the fixed camera. MGS3 ran at 25 fps and had to be re-released to get a more fitting free camera system. Of course now emulating the games brings them closer, but at the time MGS2 was simply the better game.

Most people do, I think. MGS2 was designed for itself, with gameplay that fits leveldesign. MGS3 was trying to build large open spaces on top of a top-down game that was never meant to do that, and then they slapped back camera TPP on top of it in expansion. MGS3 just wasn't nearly as consistent and logical as MGS2, MGS3 outside levels and survival gameplay quirks were cool when it came out, but aged poorly through time

Very true. I love the fact that MGS2 couldn't exist as a movie or a book with the same impact, and that it used the fact that it's a sequel in its story. It was the perfect time, perfect sequel, perfect jump from PSX to PS2.
I wish Olga was Raiden's love interest instead of Rose tbh. Raiden ending up with Olga and having to take care of Sunny despite her not being his biological daughter would have made way more sense in terms of the themes of the game about how people pass on way more than just genes. Raiden is such an underrated character in MGS2 that it almost sucks that they had to make him HARDCORE in MGS4 where he barely even was a character, and took until recengence to get some personality back. I still want Rising 2 to give him a new arc.
