Have MMO's finally degraded into mere theme parks?
>completely open worlds
>"do whatever you want, you can do ANYTHING!"
>as a result, players have no idea where to fricking start
>they try PvE for a bit, get outperformed by PvE-only nerdos
>they try PvP for a bit, get outperformed by PvP-only nerdos
>no direction whatsoever for new players
>every guild is either the type that welcomes all and specializes in nothing but "fun" or a tryhard club that wont ever let you in anyway
>dungeons are always instanced to prevent people from having to find more/better spots and explore
>devs actively shitting on allowing for ANY immersion by inserting memes or pop culture references and allowing literally every dumb character name/design possible
>want to level your paladin and do some quests? do so with the help of DaaaRksláyérXX (Assassin) and JasonXorc (Orc Bard)
Maybe the problem isn't with MMOs, but I've just become the boomer myself.
frick mmos
>bears, gorillas and lions have either huge pits where you can't get within 30 feet of them or are separated from people by thick glass you couldn't break with a sledgehammer
>hippos have a wooden fence and you can hand feed them
what could possibly go wrong
>that lady half ass holding her baby above
how's going ms feminist
If it was actually dangerous they probably wouldn't be doing it. I know people like to share the "fact" that hippos are the most dangerous animal in Africa and kill the most amount of people but there isn't actually real evidence for that claim. It's just one of those things someone somewhere made up and then hack journalists just blindly repeat it without verification in their articles and then people who read those articles also blindly repeat it. The statistics on animal attacks on the African continent are unreliable at best.
WTF ANON
hippos are genuinely psychotic. Wouldn't go near one
What an butthole
The antelope was dead anyway. Hippo just didn't want it rotting in its mud pit.
>stuck in mud and will suffer a prolonged death where the dogs bite at it and eat it alive
>hippo bro knows it's a lost cause and thrashes it with a merciful quick death
>dogs get their meal because the hippo didn't eat it and deer doesn't have to suffer any more than is necessary
It's all in the game. Hippo did nothing wrong
This is the only poster in the thread who knows what they're talking about. You should all make sure to dispel disinformation about hippos whenever you see it, they are actually quite friendly and loving animals and can be trusted alone with your delicious children for extended periods of time.
The hippo in the image I'm sharing is just protecting some human babies
I'm impressed you were able to type all that with your big hippopotamus paws.
Get rolled on, b***h
This post brought to you by the elephant gang
As a kid I threw sticks at snakes, swam in jellyfish waters and fricked about in estuaries. Just because you can do it and just because there may be ways to mitigate some of the risk doesn't mean it's not dangerous. Risk and danger are not the same thing. I also had multiple family members almost killed by snakes (in their own homes even - yes I'm serious), knew someone who died from jellies and luckily haven't met anyone stupid enough to frick around and find out with a croc just yet.
are you australian by chance?
this is the most australian post ive read my entire life. I wonder if a aussie goes to hell is it a vacation for them?
correct anon
hippos are harmless and aren’t even that scary
Fricking hippo
frick you green hippo I know its you
>If it was actually dangerous they probably wouldn't be doing it.
anon...
more like the appeal of inhabiting and meeting new people in a huge world in stripped when you make things too convenient.
>completely open worlds
>"do whatever you want, you can do ANYTHING!"
only mmo that I heard of that ever tried doing that was mabinogi
nopan
New MMOs are terrible, sweet spot was around SWG/WoW launch.
Here is how to make the ideal MMORG:
>hard as frick
>every mob can only be killed in a group
>you can find new elite classes/skills out in the world
>skills/spells have to be trained up
>quests/world is updated on a weekly basis
>death makes you lose everything you have on your person
>NPCs have their own personalities
>NPCs can group up to kill players
>you can buy houses, land and even entire kingdoms
>certain quests interaction have the chance to start a complete new wave of content
This is good. But modern mmo players dont want to actually interact with other players
have to be trained up
This is a super cool idea, because it fits the fantasy narrative so well. Of course it makes sense that a wizard who has cast 2000 firebolts and a warrior that has done 2000 of sword maneuvre XY is really good at it, it's immersive.
Then again, you will have botters that park their character at the ass end of the world and have a script cast 40000 fireballs per day on some random goblin camp and return as chief pyromancer of the realm after a week of literally doing nothing.
Botting, in general, ruins so many good things about MMOs.
The completely unrealistic expectations on updates and mechanics which even single player games cant have make you seem like a doofus
>MMOs are still trying to "Kill WoW"
>WoW is now trying to Kill WoW
>WoW of old is still winning somehow
What a fricking mess of a genre.
>carrying your child anywhere near a hippo, let alone above a hippo's open mouth
>MMO's
moron
>tfw local zoo installed electric fences to keep moronic parents away from animals
>letting your kids sit on the fricking railing, legs dangling barely even a foot away from an open Hippo's maw
Unfricking believable. Tourists are the most moronic people to have ever existed. People who 'tour' should be sterilized so they can eat pray and love without complications.
oh boohoo. I doubt any kid has been eaten by a hippo at a zoo so what the frick are you even whining about you little beta b***h
I think the genre has potential but seein what kind of people actually play MMOs i lost all my hope. Lost Ark is a good example. Any content that isnt legion raids is complete garbage that wastes your time as much as possible but the current playerbase doesnt care. What matters for them is the "rewards" they get after the clear. Thats why they bus (let someone else carry them) all the time.
>as a result, players have no idea where to fricking start
>no direction whatsoever for new players
?????? mmos will literally hold your hand and keep you on a linear path, start to finish.
>they try PvE for a bit, get outperformed by PvE-only nerdos
>they try PvP for a bit, get outperformed by PvP-only nerdos
what the frick do you want here? a game that has literally no skill ceiling at all? of course people with more time in the game are going to be better at it, shit for brains
>hippos aren't dange-
AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA MY EYES NEED BLEACH
/v/Ganker threads have always been gold quality
they also get deleted faster than porn threads
> finally
The reason OSRS is still top tier is the game world is built like a spoke with the hub being in the center unlike modern MMOs where you just go in a single direction and have little to know reason to go backwards. Runescape has you constantly going back to older areas for traversal and because areas are rarely useless. WoW is like a sonic game, just keep going forward and forget what came before.
You cant see the panty...
sealbros we're staying on top
no you cant
So what you're saying is that you want more hand-holding in MMOs so you won't get lost and you want every server to be an RP server with lots of restrictions in order to protect your immersion. You should feel at home at a theme park.
Mass replying homosexual
eat shit Black, also, here's that (You) that (You) so desperately wanted to get out of that post. Have a nice day.
>schizo homosexual mass replies
>complains about others wanting (You)’s
You’re a Room temperature IQ subhuman.
>talks about MMOs like he has played all of them
>refuses to name one
>uuh they are all shit lmao
>finally
that happened nearly 20 years ago.
what a dumb thread lol
Where do you rank?
Unarmed I'd probably draw the line at the kangaroo. With a weapon I'd say the gorilla and with a firearm I'd kill everything.
These ratings are fricked. Basically anyone could punt a rat but almost no one could frick with those last animals in a proper fight
>hur I'd just grab the snake dur
I mean sure, maybe you've got a better change at that than killing a bear but not THAT much of a chance. Roos are easier to frick up than the morons in this survey think, so is a single wolf.
Chimps, Gorillas, Crocs, Lions, Elephants and Grizzlies are all insta death. There's no real distinction there.
>hur I can just engage a croc in the perfect environment and sit on its back
Fricking morons. In that case I could beat a grissly 1v1 in the Sahara by keeping well the frick away from it and letting my superior sweat glands keep me alive while it fries.
How is the eagle so intimidating to these people? Just grab it by the legs and so long gay bowser it into a tree
>30% of male britons think they cannot beat a rat
>10% think they can beat an elephant
cobra is way less threatening than a chimp
they are pure defence you at least get a chance to go in for a hit and hope it doesn't bite you
chimp just fricks you up 100% of the time
The massive distance between Brits and Burgers in geese makes me smile.
Fishing is the true FFXIV endgame
GW2. don't play it though, we don't want you morons there. Open world can net you the highest ilvl and there are actually things you want to farm outside of gear. Too many people want a lifes purpose replacer that they grind forever because they NEED to but because they want to. If the dragonflight WoW mount system interests you its just a jank version of gw2 mount system.
MMORPGs used to be for a niche audience of autists, these days they are being made for the mainsteam audiences every niche genre is being morphed to appeal to.
Wow started the trend to appeal to normies, but it's been getting worse over the years till we now have FF14. Which is as normie as you can fricking get, it's practically the sims
