Its added more mission types, more enemies and special major orders to change the flow and maps up than any other coop game out and its only been out a few months. Once you "get" the game and understand the controls and enemies, if you dont actually like the gameplay, it will feel more stale and less "new" to you.

L4D2 at launch wasn't half baked, it came out with all intented features and is the better game.
L4D2 was a full priced expansion pack for L4D1.

If L4D2 came out without the smoker and boomer, had only one or two new special infected, 1 melee weapon and half of the new guns and they were added over the years, you'd have a point.
L4D2 is decent but it has measurably less content than HD2 because it came from a completely different generation.
HD2 is still a full game and everything that gets added can be accessed without paying more than the original price.

I think it could have kept a lot more momentum if they actually fixed bugs. As of right now, a concerning amount of the ship upgrades don't do shit or are severely bugged. And the past couple patches have done nothing to address them.
It speaks to the game's charm that tens of thousands of people are still playing it, even with a couple months gone by. What percentage of people dropped off because they were sick of the game bugs? It doesn't really matter since they already got people's money. And mine too, it was still worth the hundred hours I put it despite the poor post-game patches.

Bots suck way more at diff 9. In bugs you can just kite and get out of a sticky situation.
Bots will just hold you behind a rock with suppression fire until a flame hulk comes to 1 shot you, and if you poke out you get headshot by 5 heavy devastators.
Bugs are easier to kill closer. Bots can snipe you from the other side of the map, and some maps have clouds and shit, making them hard to spot.

How do you make it work? I just found it did too little damage for something too inaccurate and too difficult to control with bugger all ammo on top of that. Might as well use the HMG turret, at least it can hit shit.
Set the RPMs as low as possible, 30% recoil abortion armor, and kneel/prone. You chew through bugs like wild, but I wouldn't bring it against bots.

On the primary weapon... the one you need to spam fast when you are surrounded. Not a good plan. If anything most guns need more bullets per clips and more clips altogether, and all the slow firing guns should be able to penetrate armor to a degree.
This is a horde shooter, there should be tons of small enemies, some medium ones and a few of heavy units, not few small enemies, lots of medium and lots of heavies. On a horde shooter you spam the fricking fire button.

They fricked the shrapnel damaged majorly. It went from killing 4-8 in a group of enemies to 0-4. Now when you shoot the ground, the shrapnel sometimes doesn't even kill anything. So now you are killing less enemies and you have less ammo to do it with.

I think they actually said they considered the autocannon perfectly balanced a while back. It's strong, but has it's drawbacks like taking up a backpack slot and requiring some degree of skill to use.

Quasar reloads by itself giving you the time to shoot or call eagle-chan at least.
It's arguably* more reliable, since it only does direct hits, whether hitting armor at an angle or not. And against distant targets it can burst a little faster if not under any threat. It also just shoots when you pull the trigger, no charge up to compensate for.
I think it also technically does more damage, but not at any significant break points, though the direct hit. And while not viable to have some else wear your backpack, if TWO people are running it (or more), you CAN pull off some crazy shenanigans with team reloads. My squad has clutched shit we would have absolutely failed against when running more than one recoilless and backpack dumping elites. Granted that was back when 20+ would spawn at once but still...
That also applies to the autocannon but that's just a perfect weapon already so... yeah.

Of course no dev is perfect with balancing but honestly at this fricking point I'd be willing to throw my hat in with fricking blizzard tier balancing at this point.
I've never seen a dev like arrowhead where they see a weapon that is all and all completely balanced and go "Yeah this needs to get nerfed."
The dominator nerf is the perfect example of this because the dominator was fine. I saw it used regularly but not excessively. I used it myself on occasion and it was fun and felt good to use while not being excessive and having drawbacks that you need to play around.
Same with the eruptor. Felt good to use, did it's role well, had glaring downsides to play around.
Yet for SOME reason the fricking moron dipshit at arrowhead decided to change the dominator and eruptor "just cuz".
Fricking christ it's genuinely tiring seeing someone take something that doesn't need to be changed and trying to fix it.

Like 90% of modern devs, they play their games on easy/normal difficulties and do not set foot anywhere near hard/harder/hardest/extreme difficulties.
I don't doubt for a minute that the devs of HD2 play their game at difficulty 6, maybe 7 for bugs, and 2-3 for bots. They probably do some kind of dev-cheat mode for tuning higher difficulties where they're invincible.

it's funny because Helldivers 1 had like 15 levels of difficulty. The one we're on now used to be considered what was 'medium' difficulty.

See literally any competitive online game. Assume a team of 50, and a standard ranking system of bronze through grand masters.
Of those 50 team members, 5-6 will be at the platinum range of skill, 1-2 will be in the master/grand master range of skill, and the other ~40 will be in the bronze/silver range of skill.
There is absolutely nothing the suggest otherwise with the HD2 team, and the dude that is in charge of balance is particularly suspect, as he doesn't even know the games basic mechanics and is legitimately impressed when people clear diff 5 bugs at level 20+.

Wrong. For example if they didn’t nerf the breaker at the same time they buffed other primaries some people would still use breaker and others would use the newly buffed primaries. Instead every dropped the breaker because they made it feel shit and moved on to other weapons that felt good due to buffs.

The reality is, despite the fact that people claim to "totally like the OP weapons, for real," they all can't seem to drop the thing fast enough for greener grass every single balance patch that comes out, and they all seem to circle around the next OP-in-class weapon every single time. My point is it was never OP it just felt good to use and they should have left it alone. They made it less fun to play by so people switched to more fun primaries. They did the exact same thing to the slugger too so it’s not they are doing it by accident.

It literally was the only weapon anyone used, specifically because it was slightly OP. Less ammo and manual recoil adjustment was all it needed to get the crutch hoppers off the thing forever, which is hilarious. Railgun went through the same shit, but THAT not bumped down the tier list by the Quasar being a better railgun before also getting hit with a nerf. Now the railgun seems perfect in it's current form.

Fun fact about Blizzard - their balance philosophy for Overwatch 2 was to balance around accessibility, not power.
Best example of this was Tracer had a damage falloff bug where she was doing full damage regardless of how far away from the target you were. As a result she was an absolute monster to play against. But also as a result, new players that had never played Tracer heard she was good and started playing her. So Blizzard didn't want to "nerf" Tracer (which is really just fixing a bug), because it would cause new players that just picked up Tracer to stop playing her and potentially stop playing the game.
So instead they fixed the falloff bug, and globally raised her DPS.
At no point was it ever intended to buff Tracer, but due to a bug being pushed to live and the patch cycle being so slow, they were "forced" to keep the buff or make a change to her to make her feel just as strong.
That was their balance philosophy starting from about 2020. It's not balance based on skill or balance based on the pros and meta. It's literally balanced around what will keep players engaged the most. Which is a fricking awful way of balancing a competitive multiplayer game.

I quite like the new crossbow. Fires further, more accurately, and most importantly isn't a liability anymore in close quarters or when near teammates. I'm not teamkilling people anymore, which is super nice.
Also the "large surfaces" mentioned for the laser cannon's nerf include gunship engines. It takes longer to down one now using it, but it still works. No longer is it a one-man gunship counter anymore.

The answer is "as many as possible". Gunships are high-priority targets and the entire team should focus on obliterating the frickers the moment you can. I did see someone throw down an orbital laser at a gunship facility, which didn't destroy it, but did instantly down the three gunships that spawned from the facility as we got close. So that was nice.

They do a wiener UP JOB conveying which is which weapon wise, and there's all this esoteric tacticool bullshit they're pursuing as if it's arma and then they throw 27 bile titans at you and tell you stratagems are your primary weapon. This isn't the kind of game where I'm going to need to decide on Hollow point or armor-piercing when you're throwing 10 heavily armored enemies and 12 fleshy-vulnerable-to-HP enemies at me at the same time.
If they had set out to make this a tacticool arma game fine, I'd have liked it. I like using the heavy machine gun and suppressive firing in games. But those games don't field ~1000 enemies in a mission.

The last time a weapon got nerfed unexpectedly, it got rebuffed by a ship module. We'll just have to wait and see.
There should be a ship upgrade that gives you better intel on the map select where you are dropping for where things like that are.
Also it seems near impossible to land without hitting enemies in HD2 even if I choose a location that isn't red on the map. In HD1 you could at least land and get a second to breath even on high difficulties if you chose a secluded place to start.

If you played longer than 2 hours you would have seen plenty of biomes. we've seen perma night Vietnam jungles, rocky ice worlds, temperate worlds, grassy mountains, burning hellscapes with fire tornadoes, foggy planets, rainy planets, planets with lots of water areas, etc.

Sickle is just slightly better Liberator. If you arent using Liberator consistently, you wont find that much use for Sickle.
Senator just got speedloader, fixing the only major issue it had (slow as frick reload). Getting Senator opens new effective loadouts as you can have armor-piercing med-sized secondary weapon.
Pick whichever you prefer, but in my opinion Senators gives more loadout flexibility and thus more fun.

It's still far better than it used to be. Damage per shot only used to be 200 and it had no stagger. I don't really know why they felt the need to shave 25 damage back off of it but it's still solid.
I don't think the 25 damage nerf actually changed any breakpoints. Still kills everything in the same number of shots as before

Why did the dominator get a 25 damage nerf?
Why did the liberators get a 5 damage buff?
Why did the diligence get a 13 damage buff?
What is the point of these changes? Do they even hit any meaningful breakpoints? This feels like shitty filler. Particularly the dominator change feels like "Let's make the weapon feel worse just because :^)"
Dominator got damage nerf because of Slugger crying.
Liberator got +5 damage because the devs are based and want the Liberator to have a purpose other than being a worse but cooler looking Sickle
All Marksmen Rifles blow, so they needed something (I think that weapon class should just get extra weakpoint damage modifiers, but nobody seems to like that idea).
Yeah cuz that five damage really makes the choice less obvious when the sickle still has 2x the mag size, functionally unlimited ammo reserve, holster reloading, and no recoil over the libtarderator. The point is is that these changes are complete nothing burger at most and spiteful at worst, the liberators should have gotten a mag increase and the dominator shouldn't have been touched at all.

What fricking breakthrough is there that the liberator having 5 extra damage on a light AP weapon actually matters.
I can see it with the pen lib because medium armor AP doesn't suffer from damage reduction vs light armor, but 5 damage on the lib?
