https://www.pcgamer.com/the-valheim-developers-bought-a-real-horse/ >hey we know you've been waiting for the promised updates for three months now but check this shit out, we bought a pony!
That shit was honestly the point where I started to lose hope in the whole thing
>we couldn't work our road map or release anything of substance in the past three years cause uhhh >we made TOO MUCH money and so that means we couldn't do anything because... We just couldn't ok
>your passion project bears fruit and you become rich >realize you realistically don't have to work anymore (or at least for the next decade) >say frick it and enjoy comfy living
i honestly couldn't be mad
>go to this biome and mine for four hours, split between holding left click on a rock and dragging around a cart/sitting in a boat doing literally nothing but watching the wind carry you around >kill the boss in under five minutes so you can find the next biome to mine for four hours in >repeat until contents runs out
Wow, truly 10/10.
What you're describing is 10/10 for me anon. Being able to mine, while avoiding titanic monsters, then figuring out logistics that can range from carts to sea travel, is fricking fun. Maybe it's just not for you.
>call it FotM streamerbait garbage >zoomies call me moronic >a month later valheim was forgotten and they were playing the next FotM streamerbait garbage
It's all so tiresome.
It's the usual cycle. Some tweeky overexcited moron defends some just released game, posts a screencap of "best selling on STEAM" and says it's going to be the hugest game ever. You tell them "everybody will forget about it next week" and when it happens they're nowhere to be found.
Me and a friend spent 300hours on this game making our own little village. Some of the best times I ever had. Can't wait for the next big update to do it all over again
they added sliders that actually let you change the game to fit your preference. should have been there from the very start because not everyone wants to deal with "realism" autism
>combat slider
What does it change? Enemy damages only so that I won't die in one shot from a mosquito the moment I get within 50 meters of a plains biome unless I have maxed out the previous area armor set?
this is cringe. i like when games have 1 difficulty so it's the same experience for everyone. now some homosexual can just put on easy mode and think they "beat' the game like I did.
it has no real staying power aside from building shit in creative mode, and it's not fun to experience again
>combat imbalanced dog shit that doesn't work 50% of the time if there's even a slight change in terrain >a dead monkey could make better weapon balance, no reason to ever use anything other than maces >norse/viking themed game and axes are unusable dogshit >higher tier weapons need more stamina to use meaning shit like Frostner still dominate Mistlands because the Mistalnd weapons cost too much stamina to use >frost weapons and magic are OP as hell >copper takes forever to mine >can never upgrade the cart despite having access to iron/black metal >game wants to be super punishing with skill drain but goes out of its way to try and frick you with horrendous spawning and broken combat
valheim is a good concept with some of the worst execution i've ever seen
I would add to that the fact that you need a workbench per biome. So if you want to make a cool base with decorations you have to build all those workbenches and gather the materials for them. Might not be a big problem if you make a small base but if you move somewhere and want to build a different base there you have to carry all those items with you and start by building the workbenches in the new area first.
I tried to get a friend to play but we ended up switching to The Forest.
Best weapon is a bow. If you play with friends, craft few thousand of shitty arrows and start rapid fire at each other. After few minutes you will get to lvl 80 and become an unstopable god.
Game lack content in my opinion, exploration is shit, no armor variety, grindy as frick. Game had potential, I already got my money worth with it, just wish it was just a little better, and that the devs would care.
The game needs some better combat along with more enemy types. Throw in magic or spellmaking and it could be amazing.
Instead we have one attack animation and copy pasted everything else.
The most frustrating thing about combat is the stamina system. Player is limited by it while enemies dont. So they spam you while you need to wait a couple of second before your stamina bar refils. You literally need to stop any action, and just walk in circles or it wont start regenerating. It's shit. Make two swings and walk in circle for 5 seconds so you can do it again, rinse and repeat.
Thats why mistland biome was kinda annoying to explore, you need to jump like a monkey to get anywhere, draining your stamina, and u can get jumped by bugs which one shot you in the best armor.
This game captures the Norse spirit of seeking out new lands better than any other game I've played. It's a shame its been so slow on development, and in my opinion the game falls off once you get to the plains. Why can't we get more good Viking games? The only other one I like is the Warband mod.
Just recently replayed it with a friend after not touching since the first month of EA release. Mistlands were meh. I doubt that south pole will be any interesting if they don't mix it's elevation. Placeholder hell was just a plateau with small meteorite craters and surtlings everywhere.
Placeholder mistlands were more promising than the final stuff we got. I blame arachnophobes, stupid fricking babies.
>I blame arachnophobes, stupid fricking babies
I was seriously disappointed by the removal of the giant webs and trees. The whole mist mechanic was annoying as well.
>I blame arachnophobes, stupid fricking babies.
did they really change it because of them? i dislike spiders too but i was looking forward to being scared shitless fighting them in the mist
this would be fricking kino, since there's really no reasons to make castles/bases. But we both know it's not going to happen unless some modder autist in this best possible way do this
I also think enemies in this game absolutely should get an endurance meter just like the player because what the frick
I saw a gnoll mod that looked pretty cool and made me want to pick the game again but turns out it doesn't seem to work and even if it does you can't change armours. I wish someone changed the base model and added more stuff to it so your characters don't look like every other single character someone else makes because of the linear gear progression.
I tried to make custom armours myself but it seems to be one hell of a chore as you have to figure out points of origin and scale through trial and error.
I fricking hate the no metal through portals mechanic. It is such an annoying excuse to have to use ships to haul large amounts of ore between the biomes. It's also a huge time sink. What I did to get around it was use that alternate world trick. I did like this game, because it balanced being too survival focused and just building cool viking shit. I quit the game after getting to the Mistlands because I couldn't deal with the fog and the vertical terrain. I might be moronic, but I felt like I couldn't see shit even with the Mist sword and the blue orb that follows you.
They say that bullshit every few years >no updates for multiple years >oops we got robbed and they stole our laptops. Huh no we dont have backups >no updates for multiple years >oh no there was a fire and it burned our laptops. Huh no backups of course >no updates for multiple years >sad news, our office flooded and it ruined our laptops. of course we dont have backups we never expected this 🙂
>We suffered a building fire and lost half of our workforce including head supervisors from a insane murderer >Season 2 still delivers on time and on model
RIP victims of Kyoto Animation arson.
>we couldn't work our road map or release anything of substance in the past three years cause uhhh >we made TOO MUCH money and so that means we couldn't do anything because... We just couldn't ok
>Notch goes over to Reddit to shill cheap minecraft keys >Days turn into weeks of 'vacation' until he's gone >Every time he came back here he was shit on and told to get back to work
lmao
I had my fun with zomboid but i have one friend that just never stops playing it, he plays other games too but he's always playing zomboid in some capacity through the week, not that it bothers me, on the contrary i'm impressed
>What did you think of it?
Breaks too often
Is not usable for mistlands combat so use softcore settings/mods(not losing buffs and inventory on death)
Very immersive
>Breaks too often
By that, i mean every time Valheim gets updated you need to update bepinex and then devs have to rebuild their mod for that update. It takes like 2 weeks usually every time so sometimes it's annoying
>vikings bro
dont understand how this game got shilled so hard when it came out because it is literally only
there are like 20 survial games with better mechanics when it came out
all the systems of the game are extremely fricked
awful hitboxes and animation for attacks
some of the worst base building ever
You'll get a second horse before that.
There's a horse?
https://www.pcgamer.com/the-valheim-developers-bought-a-real-horse/
>hey we know you've been waiting for the promised updates for three months now but check this shit out, we bought a pony!

>feed your cat 1 million calories
>get shocked when cat cant walk anymore
An actual bad food analogy, bravo.
You are actually smart.
Horses are expensive to maintain.
They wasted all that money on moronic animations.
>your passion project bears fruit and you become rich
>realize you realistically don't have to work anymore (or at least for the next decade)
>say frick it and enjoy comfy living
i honestly couldn't be mad
wasn't a passion project if money replaced the passion instead of fueling it
that's fair.
d-Devs are bros, no way they ran with my (parent's) money.
remember when Gankereddit shilled this fotm streamer garbage?
Valheim has a 10/10 concept, mechanics and gameplay, it's a shame the devs never finished the game
it gets kinda tedious/boring after a while in my opinion. not bad but not 10/10 either.
>go to this biome and mine for four hours, split between holding left click on a rock and dragging around a cart/sitting in a boat doing literally nothing but watching the wind carry you around
>kill the boss in under five minutes so you can find the next biome to mine for four hours in
>repeat until contents runs out
Wow, truly 10/10.
>anon discovers video games
What you're describing is 10/10 for me anon. Being able to mine, while avoiding titanic monsters, then figuring out logistics that can range from carts to sea travel, is fricking fun. Maybe it's just not for you.
Your a fricking loser. Imagine donating money to 3chan
.
Damn you moved from shill to doomposting in record time
>call it FotM streamerbait garbage

I like Valheim. Wish it wasn't so grindy though.
Me and a friend spent 300hours on this game making our own little village. Some of the best times I ever had. Can't wait for the next big update to do it all over again
Well you can wait. And you will wait. Possibly forever.
it will come out eventually im in no rush
never trust a swede
I'm not waiting anymore. Mystlands was such a disappointment I don't even care anymore. Got my money's worth anyway.
Also their PR is insufferable.
Me and friends got it but it was just too tedious for me, I guess I don't have the right kind of autism.
swedes on their 5th vacation this year
i think the current is celebrating black wiener week or something
The combat is atrocious and
People are? Why? For 20 bucks I got my worth out of it and moved on. Maybe in a few years I'll revisit it.
they added sliders that actually let you change the game to fit your preference. should have been there from the very start because not everyone wants to deal with "realism" autism
>combat slider
What does it change? Enemy damages only so that I won't die in one shot from a mosquito the moment I get within 50 meters of a plains biome unless I have maxed out the previous area armor set?
they already nerfed deathsquitos once but yeah, probably
this is cringe. i like when games have 1 difficulty so it's the same experience for everyone. now some homosexual can just put on easy mode and think they "beat' the game like I did.
options are a good thing. who cares if some moron needed to play on ezmode to "beat the game"?
There's a reason people don't like participation awards
but no one is competing here. you're not even playing with these people who adjust the difficulty setting.
i am competing with all of humanity
This game is not going anywhere and the devs knows it. It's limited by it's engine and adding more stuff to the game will not improve the experience.
I just want some halfway decent dungeons
I've started the game multiple times but always drop it before I kill the swamp boss
It just gets so boring
it has no real staying power aside from building shit in creative mode, and it's not fun to experience again
>combat imbalanced dog shit that doesn't work 50% of the time if there's even a slight change in terrain

love me some valheim
ah yes, potted plants on wooden desk. exactly the "comfy vibes open world survival craft early access" demographic to cash out on
yo imagine being mad about some plants
post your desk right now
>Not moving on to Wurm Online where you carve out the world with other people and not just by yourself and a couple friends
This game captures the Norse spirit of seeking out new lands better than any other game I've played. It's a shame its been so slow on development, and in my opinion the game falls off once you get to the plains. Why can't we get more good Viking games? The only other one I like is the Warband mod.

did they really change it because of them? i dislike spiders too but i was looking forward to being scared shitless fighting them in the mist
the bugs we have now are plenty fricking scary
thats only because they ignore the game's mechanics like terrain, stamina and elevation that the player is cucked by constantly
ok? still scary
Like with most enemies, only 2 starred bugs are scary
Game needs AI villagers to populate your bases, and AI viking themed Raiders that set up camps and sail the oceans
This would be amazing. I would love to run into draugr ships on the seas or have them attack your villagers that you can train to defend your base.
this would be fricking kino, since there's really no reasons to make castles/bases. But we both know it's not going to happen unless some modder autist in this best possible way do this
I also think enemies in this game absolutely should get an endurance meter just like the player because what the frick
Are there any decent content mods? Not just expanding building with new furniture or adding equipment.
I got enough content for what I paid for.
I saw a gnoll mod that looked pretty cool and made me want to pick the game again but turns out it doesn't seem to work and even if it does you can't change armours. I wish someone changed the base model and added more stuff to it so your characters don't look like every other single character someone else makes because of the linear gear progression.

I have given up already
Such a great foundation of a game that's never will reach it potential because of developers being utterly moronic
Now you can just check the option to teleport ores during the start of the server.
>he's still waiting for updates
