I just played the demo of this and it was amazing. How can it only be 2GB big? Are devs finally getting competent again?
System Shock thread I suppose.

Man I must suck at making threads, nobody ever replies
You're supposed to say the demo sucked bigly and that the game being only 2gb is a sign of it being tiny and poor quality, not say it's good.
Post barely censored rule 34 of shofar next time, then you’ll get your responses
the last demo was 5 GB in size on my machine
When will the release finally come out? I'm already fucked up waiting.
May. Until they delay it again
It's May? I thought it was this month.
They just delayed it like two days ago.
Jesus Christ
FUCK! With each postponement of the release date, there are more and more doubts that we will get something worthwhile in the final. Immersive sim is dead.
demo was dope tho
i think its just optimization and bugs and shit - or console versions
nightdive isnt too big a studio
Is there a demo version only on steam? It sucks because the game page is blocked in my country. I can't even try!
https://www.gog.com/en/game/system_shock_demo
Gog also does not give access to the demo, because I am a bad Russian. Fucking Poles
there's 100% a ruski warez site somewhere where you can grab the demo from
Demo is pretty good, but its performance is all over the place. Not to mention how weird melee and ranged feels.
>Fucking Poles
Blame your own fucking gov, retard.
Blame your government or God.
lol ruski jebany
>pshe-pshe
>Immersive sim
speaking of that, the demo was the first time in AGES i actually felt like im playing that genre again.
neither dishonored or prey could actually give me that feeling
i guess the genre really is dead when the only games being able to really scratch that itch are the old ones
What about performance? What are the system requirements?
It ran fine maxed out on my 5600/6700 system
and it looks great visually
>hid organic breasts of original with machinery
boooo cowards
>the more they work on it the worse it will get
gee anon everyone knows games are best when released in early access
>the more they work on it the worse it will get
Nah that's the opposite of what happened with last demo they released. The quality went up, spectacularly so. I can't comment on the full game though, maybe kickstarter backers can comment better on that.
>It's so good look at this cutscene
How about you show gameplay you retarded moron or just watch a movie instead. Show how good it looks when you hit an enemy with a weapon
>Show how good it looks when you hit an enemy with a weapon
I just played the demo and it looks good. What are you even talking about?
It used to be brighter? As said I just played the demo and the game is bright pretty much everywhere.
It looks good when you swing through enemies with no reaction? Or it looks good when everything glows blue
>It looks good when you swing through enemies with no reaction?
But they do react? What are you talking about?
>How about you show gameplay you retarded moron
Go play the demo you dumb moron gay. It's not like you have to pay to experience that.
I did. There aren't hit reactions. All the steam discussions are about it. You are all actual evil golems to defend this kind of shit.
I just don't understand what compels a person to say something is good when it is so clearly not alright.
They are still trying to add hit reactions for melee after 7 years of dev, and the game is supposed to be out this month.
I don't know what the fuck else to say. This isn't opinion this is fact you can find on their fucking website. Zooms should die end of story fuck off
And the devs have said they will improve the hit reactions, gee maybe that's why they delayed by 2 months but you didn't like that. You're so bitter because you dropped $30 on a kickstarter 6 years ago like a retard.
What else will they improve for 2 months? Maybe a new cutscene? Maybe new door textures? Or a restored cut enemy, just 3 more months!
Or you know what? Just change engines again. It's all for the best right? Game will only get better. Maybe if they develop it for 100 years it will be just that much better. Glad you are here on Ganker to be so fucking insightful about how time = better, even after so long already and so many red flags.
>Maybe a new cutscene? Maybe new door textures? Or a restored cut enemy
NTa but I'll take that sure.
>Or you know what? Just change engines again. It's all for the best right? Game will only get better. Maybe if they develop it for 100 years it will be just that much better. Glad you are here on Ganker to be so fucking insightful about how time = better, even after so long already and so many red flags.
lmao
Dear bitter moron, you can literally complete the entire game and see credits right now, it is content complete. All it needs is bugfixes and final polish/balancing.
All this whining and hyperbole serves is to show what a butthurt gay you are.
>You are all actual evil golems to defend this kind of shit.
>I don't know what the fuck else to say.
>Zooms should die end of story fuck off
I'm paying for a hooker at this point. Please... have sex!
>Have sex! Have sex! Have sex!
I WANT SUCCUBI ROASTIES OFF MY GAME BOARD
>You are all actual evil golems to defend this kind of shit.
This is autism in it's purest form, i can just imagine your chubby pig face clenching up and going red. Yeah the melee needs work, I'm not saying it's perfect. I'm saying that drastic improve from the previous builds.
Yeah imagine typing hyperbolically on the anonymous bait board. You're right I'm having a heart attack because I called you a mean name send help
>ou're right I'm having a heart attack because I called you a mean name
Sounds like you were getting a little too emotional to me mate. Just seemed a little characteristic of someone who is on spectrum is all.
>Evil golem
Shut up you fucking moron, Jesus Christ.
Shut up gay garden gnome nobody asked
>Shut up gay garden gnome nobody asked
Oh so you're a brain dead 4chantard as well. Good to know about the extra level of schizophrenia included.
Its literally one boomer having a melty itt
We should be merciful.
>I just don't understand what compels a person to say something is good when it is so clearly not alright.
Your autism doesn't reflect how other people are thinking.
You can stand on your soap box all day crying about how the game is shit because it didnt came out when you wanted it to, or how it doesnt have that thing that you so care about.
People like you, who actually think they're in the right and stomp and kick all day screaming, about a fucking video game of all things, are the only thing thats wrong here.
What's wrong with pointing out massive issues in things? It's like defending marvel movies, "oh you just don't like fun"
It's dismissive. That's fine, but dont get on your own soap box and proclaim yourself better for not complaining.
>pointing out massive issues
Your autism makes it into a massive issue. How red is your face right now when I tell you that I literally dont care? The melee in the demo wasnt the best melee i've ever played but it was sufficient enough.
Choke on it boomer. Day 1.
I mean without flinging 7th grade insults, how is it not a massive issue? You end up engaging in a huge amount of melee combat throughout the game, it should have received some care and attention.
They spent time redesigning cyberspace for example, but if the enemies were missing reactions in there I think people would point that out too.
You could tell me that you are going to suck a turd directly from an ass day 1, that doesn't affect me. I am pointing things out in case someone with more discerning tastes than you happens to read the thread
>I mean without flinging 7th grade insults
you've been doing that since entering the thread, why stop now?
>I am pointing things out in case someone with more discerning tastes than you happens to read the thread
ok boomer
>Ignores perfectly reasonable question about why it's not a massive issue
rip bozo
NTa but his entire point was that combat feel wasn't an issue for him
You asking him why its not an issue is moronic.
>I mean without flinging 7th grade insults, how is it not a massive issue
If you would've said that the combat feel isn't particularly good, instead of throwing a tantrum like a 2yo or 75yo for half the thread, people would probably agree with you.
Calling everyone a moron or a garden gnome for simply enjoying a game, is not the best way to get people to say "yes I agree." I know this is Ganker and you're probably here because you can't survive a week anywhere else without getting banned, but still, think.
I find that insane doomposting gets more engagement and then I lead into discussion slowly. Opening with a thoughtful response about a game kills threads these days. Please don't get personally offended when you see the nig or fag words they are meaningless I just want to talk about games and not trannies and shit for once
That's Ganker for you.
>I really like this despite some shortcomings
will get zero replies.
best or worst thing thing ever, or even better: just a screnshot with OH NO NO NO NO, and you got yourself replies
Yeah I'm not specifically (you) farming, but I think that getting people a little riled up keeps them checking the thread and maybe even replying more than once. I don't mean to sound even more crazy for this stance than when I was a spastic boomer, but people are talking critically about both the originals and the remake now even with a low unique poster number.
I do think the SSR development has been troubled and looks like a fucking mess, but I'm also going to play the shit out of it and give it a fair shot. I think the cyberspace update is especially great but I hope there isn't too much of it to get annoying.
>You end up engaging in a huge amount of melee combat throughout the game,
So the doomposters haven't played the original game? And no, one click deleting with the laser rapier is not melee combat.
I mean, when I click that one time with the laser rapier, I hope the enemy response is satisfying
>but it was sufficient enough.
My take as well.
When I played the demo last night I already knew that someone on Ganker will definitely cry over the melee not feeling weighty enough and doompost that its the end of the world. And literally here we are.
But to me it was serviceable. After 3-4 enemies it doesn't even matter anymore. We always want games to be the very best they can be, but "good enough" is good enough.
>yeah it's not very good but it's not the worst thing I've ever experienced so I'll put up with it for hours upon hours
Not what I said.
Misinterpreting things on purpose is a sign on mental illness.
looks like absolute trash
You fucking newfags don’t know a single thing about game development. I’ll spoonfeed you. If a game is delayed constantly it means the game had shit planning and the publisher is getting pissed, meaning they aren’t really seeing results so in their mind why bother delaying if you guys are barely gonna do anything anyway. It’s almost always a sign of a bad game
>You fucking newfags don’t know a single thing about game development.
we have something in common then 🙂
>It’s almost always a sign of a bad game
literally the opposite. most of the time they turn out well. the often delayed blunders are the exception
Ahhh yes cyberpunk the great example of a multiple delayed game that turned out literally the opposite
oh we cherry picking now?
resident evil 4 was delayed multiple times and literally had 3 different game versions before.
lets do this, this'll be fun!
But was RE4 announced before that final version was almost complete?
Do GTA games count? They have insane dev cycles and likely miss internal deadlines but we never know about that stuff. I think it's when games are announced too early and have to go through massive changes and delays that the public is aware of that it becomes a bad sign
>bad sign
Literally a meme term tho, because all that matters is whether the final game is good or not.
Bad signs or "red flags" during development mean nothing if the game is good.
Thats why you never hear them after a release.
You don't hear about them after release if the game does turn out good. I think people will remember the cyberpunk release for a long time. I think something like ffxv came out feeling confused in its design and that could have been predicted from the delays
Yeah red flags don't damn a product for sure, but it's a valid reason to be skeptical
>I think people will remember the cyberpunk release for a long time
Cyberpunk was fine on PC tho. Consolecucks got the short end of the stick but that concerns me how?
I think the issues with cyberpunk went far beyond performance. I played it stable at release too but... I mean this is a discussion for another thread really. It had major balance and design flaws that you wouldn't normally expect from a game that had so long in the oven. Unless it was only in the oven because of public delays, then you might be able to intuit that something is troubling the development.
>fine on pc
cope cdpshill
I loved the anime that came out from cyberpunk being successful in sales and being able to throw money on a vanity project, so im conflicted.
>b-b-but someone made a youtube video
O no how will I recover.
You will learn eventually after getting duped over and over, zoomie. Welcome, you’re never leaving.
> after getting duped over and over
yeah resident evil 4 was really crap innit lmao
You were a little child when re4 came out. I doubt your parents even let you play games then
Bold of you to assume that anon was even alive when the game first came out. Wonder what eceleb he learned about it from
wanna bet about it when System Shock is released next May? what are you gonna do when turns out the game is actually really great?
name a game with this many delays that came out good.
>Immersive sim is dead.
What rock have you been under since 2004?
>the backers work is finished
>But mine is only beginning
The demo is about 20% of the game
>Wrath still isn't out
>Graven still isn't out
>Amid Evil expansion and Xbox versions still aren't out
>Ion Fury Aftershock still isn't out
>Agent 64 still isn't out
>Kingpin Remastered still isn't out
>Sin Remaster still isn't out
How do these companies stay afloat not putting products out for 3+ years over schedule? This shit is unprecedented and literally wouldn't happen under normal publishers in the 90/00's but today it's common practice. Are the employees just scamming the companies for wages?
Publishers put out unreasonable release date and when they finally release the finished product isn't in a manageable state they need to push the release date. Gem developing takes way more time than it did back in the 90s.
Does the dlss option not work for anyone else?
Its greyed out for me in the settings.
Also, they really nailed the artstyle man. The blend of modern visuals and pixels actually works.
First five minutes I thought I cant see shit because everything is blinking and brightly colored but after some moments its no issue anymore.
I wish 2 would get the remake treatment too instead of an enhanced edition.
I mean it still holds up, but still, seeing what ND did with SS1 makes me wish they'd tackle 2 as well
The new enemy models look great though
TWO MORE MONTHS BOYS
Was Shodan a "woman" in SS1, i dont remember by now, but it think it wasn't.
Floppy version - No female pronouns
Cd version - Dialogue refers to Shodan in female pronouns
shes a robot i think
i was but it got too scary
I hope you get medicated soon for whatever mental disorder you have.
sorry you couldn't get immersed into the deep and rich world of system shock 1
Not the anon, and he's probably memeing.
But I recommended the demo to multiple people that legitimately refused because they dont like scary games.
Even though I keep telling them that SS1 or 2 for that matter, arent actually very scary. People think they were scary because they played them when they were like 12yo originally is all.
I mean I shat myself playing SS2 for the first time as a teen but from an adult perspective, especially after having played "proper" horror games, SS2 isnt close to being scary.
To me SS is about eerie atmosphere. The most straight horror it has is in the audio logs and world decoration. Even the bioshock games leaned into horror harder
Yea I agree. Which is the atmosphere its supposed to have given the context of the setting and story.
Btw, speaking of audio logs. How come nobody gets it right except SS?
Playing the demo instantly reminded me how audio logs are supposed to be. Not that derivative slice of life "my lesbian relationship troubles" or "lets play DnD!" crap they put into all games these days.
SS has the best audio logs of any games ever made. Everyone always thinks of the "made of worms" one and the shotgun massacre tape, but I think every single one has a ton of great world building and context for why it was recorded. Nothing feels like raw exposition for the sake of it and I appreciate that it respects the players intelligence that way
>Nothing feels like raw exposition for the sake of it and I appreciate that it respects the players intelligence that way
Ye thats what I mean.
I last played SS2 when it came out, and I still remember some of its audio logs vividly in terms of how haunting and, in relation to modern game audiologs, how on point they were.
They didnt waste time and anything they told you was something relevant. Even the "side story" about two people escaping the ship, told throughout various audiologs, isnt simply a side story, but directly factors into a cutscene.
Whenever I see a thread about this I feel it's necessary to say something.
My dad backed this on Kickstarter over a decade ago because he loved the SS games and showed them to me as a kid.
They delay and delay the project, taking more donations the whole time, change game engines, miss deadlines, update the demo a few times, miss deadlines
And my pops dies. He won't get to see this stupid fucking thing he wanted to play because incompetent liars didn't bother to finish the product on time. It's a Kickstarter scam and the morons who make it should go to jail. Just pirate it if you aren't a massive retarded cuck who let's indie devs walk all over you
And call the devs whatever you fucking want but leave the word competent out of your mouth when you do it
Stop making shit up
What part is made up
Devs are cunts that's a fact. All this time developing it and there's still no feedback for melee combat. They said they "are working on adding it based on demo feedback".
What did they do for all these years then?
Where did the millions of dollars go? Certainly not to writers and voice actors since all that shit was done 25 years ago.
They are morons plain and simple
>Where did the millions of dollars go?
How much is a game developer paid monthly? How many people worked on the game? How many years did they work on it?
>How many years did they work on it
And that's exactly the point isn't it? The dev time is unacceptable considering the state of the product. They dragged their feet, redesigned sections entirely, switches engines for no real reason, and for what?
>They dragged their feet,
*developed the game
>redesigned sections entirely,
because it benefits the game
>switches engines for no real reason,
because it looks and runs better
>and for what?
to make the game better
Why would you lick boot like this? You don't know these people or owe them anything. The development has been troubled to say the least, and pretending otherwise would be silly. Look at any discussion about the game, anywhere online and you will see cautionary tales like this. They burned a lot of good will over the years
>Why would you lick boot like this?
>They burned a lot of good will over the years
I'm still baffled at someone being this emotionally invested over a game coming out 2months later.
Please, have sexual intercourse.
>2 months
It's 5 years late you fucking mong they literally said it would be out in 2018 originally
and given how it looks and plays, that was a good use of the time.
lmao. ok boomer
How does it play? Show the combat.
How many years did the kickstarter backer's money cover? (1.3 million USD)
>Acishually it's only been 7 years to remake a fully voiced and written game
Yeah I bet they really needed to scrap all their work halfway through too, TWICE. I'm sure that was a very very good use of time and resources for development
Tell me you have no idea how development works, without telling me.
Actually, you've been telling us the entire time, thats kinda the joke. Thought I'd point this out beforehand.
You dumbass moron, explain how redesigning the entire games visuals twice is a good use of time and money and not just a massive mismanagement
You think that's normal for development? You suck cock for free moron don't get aids on anyone when you speak your retarded nonsense
This is just sad to see.
I learned about the game existing like yesterday.
Sucks to be you.
>I am 12
Cool fuck off if you have nothing to say
I have to say that the demo was amazing and that I already pre-ordered the game.
Looking forward to may.
Stay mad is what I have to say.
>switches engines for no real reason, and for what?
Are you seriously telling people that switching from UNITY of all engines to Unreal needs an explanation and is without reason?
Because bro u dumb as FUCK if you think any game EVER should use Unity. I feel genuinely sorry for the devs if they have to deal with clueless boomers like you in the forums all day.
I don't think the new demo looks dramatically better than the original unity one. It's artistically different but whether it's better is purely a matter of preference.
>looks
I dont think looks are the issue with Unity anon. More like the engine being utter garbage and if it released on Unity, 90% of the forums would complain about performance issues.
The unity demo ran better than this one though? I'm not fucking around, I don't think system shock is such an intensive script heavy game that unity wouldn't be able to handle the remake. What are the actual benefits that the game is using from unreal? Not the networking capabilities because it's single player. Not the unreal store for assets or blueprints (I hope). Is the shader caching going to be a huge help? Maybe for the RTX they want to implement or something?
Like really I don't see why they bothered when unity would have served the project scope just fine
the unreal demo ran smoother on my toaster but that's probably because it had adjustable graphics options which the unity version lacked so that effects couldn't be turned off. also the unfiltered textures in ue version
>Like really I don't see why they bothered when unity would have served the project scope just fine
yeah it's pretty bizarre. the devs also had no experience with unreal, so they had to simplify some stuff even further.
but doesn't really matter, it looked and still looks and plays like trash cashgrab that it is.
>What part is made up
All of it.
Kickstarter is like six years old, so the development is pretty much five years in the making, which is normal given the scope of the game and the fact that Nightdive is like 40(at this point in time), in two teams.
They didnt miss deadlines, as there is no such thing.
Your pops didnt die. You never had a dad. You slithered out of the abortion bucket.
Stephen, please show more door concept art. Please, the fans all want it.
The extra dev time spent on a sequence of the game that last less than 10 secs was a smart move
Stephen here, DM me on twitter and I'll send some concept art your way
This!
That's why I'm skeptical about this project. Each postponement of the release date is a hint that lazy scammers are engaged in the project. How many years have passed since the announcement? And enough of this nonsense about a small indie studio that doesn't even have money for stale pizza. Their investor is Tencent
>being this butthurt over your virtual toy not coming out on time
you really need sex
>Being this excited about companies taking advantage of people
Shalom!
This is some real boomer shit.
Getting "old man making a stink at the cash register because his voucher he used at the supermarket that used to be in this place 30years ago doesnt work here" vibes
If your mom was raped but you got a Fortnite skin, you would cheer
I hear you, bro. I pre-ordered it just now to honor your dad.
No that was SS3.
>My dad backed this on Kickstarter over a decade ago
garden gnomestarter went live not even seven years ago you retard.
Maybe your dad should've manned the fuck up and not die like a bitch.
Cant wait to see how much cut content it has
No pointless minigames
But it has the internet 6dof surfing stuff. And it looks amazing too
Listen chud. This game is serious horror now, like System Shock 2. We don't need cringe kiddie elements like that, which is why we muted all the out of place music.
Just look at System Shock 2 (The best game ever btw)
It has no music and no cringe mini games. I always repl- I mean rewatch a lets play of it monthly
cringe
stupid troll you clearly have no idea about system shock 2 all you said is false
and yet you replied
The devs for this are everything but competent, but clearly theyre at least not as technologically challenged as the average modern pajeet "dev". Im even almost willing to praise them for refusing to release something half baked or broken no matter how many delays it takes but their pathetically amateurish handling of the situation is what makes them look like a scammer and a joke
Yea it was great but its to be expected from Night Dive.
After all, the studio themselves are literally SS2 modders that banded together to make SS2 more playable on modern systems.
I didn't back it because [email protected], but I followed the development closely. And each demo update has been great. They put so much work into animations and details, if the demo is anything to go by, then this remake of a game from 1994 will be the most soulful think in ages.
SO much lamer than the original... No music, no SHodan narration that breaks down as you hack her....
Honestly I think it lost alot when it dropped the bright lighting and banging soundtrack.
For those that can't be arsed playing the demo
why would I watch a video of a literal who when I can just play the demo myself?
what zoomer nonsense is this?
What did I say before the link?
>Not even a longplay video
Very homosexual
>try enhanced edition a couple of years ago
>enjoy it, but was just on the onset of an illness so I wasn't in the best place mentally to keep up with the hud and map design so I decided to shelve it until I get better
>still haven't gotten better or picked the game back up
music was sick as fuck though.
>50 medical demos, all missing content
>Multiple delays
Blunder of the century, boys
The average remakefag won’t have played SS1 or SSEE, probably because they see both as unplayably dated.
I just laugh thinking the average remakefag here, probably calls people zoomer for being "filtered" by a game from the early to mid 2000s
SS1 came out 1994 and i played it on my 486 DX2-66Mhz.
Feels bad to be old
fuck off garden gnomedive shill. you should never have changed engines because the unity demo still looks better than what you're putting out now.
631016675
>Kickstarter is like six years old
you are underage and should not be on this site.
NTA but the kickstarter went live summer '16.
Kickstarter Backer here. Mechanically it's very fun, unfortunately because it's still using the level design of a 30 year old game the levels themselves are very boring and feel very samey.
Like if you ever dreamed of a Doom remake that would just be Doom 1/2 with shiny graphics this is what it feels like although obviously the combat is totally different from the OG Dos game. Still this is a niche release.
I'd say it's a 7/10 as it stands. If you liked the medical demo then you're gonna like this but don't think this is going to be the god tier of Immersive Sims. It's not Thief, System Shock 2, or Deus Ex.
>but don't think this is going to be the god tier of Immersive Sims.
Well SS1 wasnt that either, so duh.
I disagree on the level design tho. Old style level design is simply the goat.
I get where you're coming from and yes it's unfair for me to say "Well this isn't anything like the games that came a decade later," It is a remake, rebuilding a classic on a entirely new frame.
Still I was kinda hoping Night Dive would add in some new lore to give Citadel Station some more storytelling depth. Kinda like what System Shock 2 was pulling with developing Polito and Diego's son as characters who you kinda get to know albeit they're long dead when The Soldier does his thing. Or how Resident Evil 1 Remake just added so much to the lore and story.
BTW take my word with a grain of salt since I hardly played the Demo, but I think the hit feedback on the enemies is FAR BETTER in the current beta. I can't back this up with any proof and really it doesn't matter since you're going to be waiting to play the game no matter what. But I think Night Dive fixed it and now hitting the enemies feels very good. My favorite moments in the beta is just pulling off a clean kill on a goon and seeing these robot/cyborg things fall apart. It's very satisfying to kill shit.
The part that concerns me is that after such a long time developing this game, they didn't see that as an issue at all. Yet within hours of letting people play it, it's a primary complaint. Then, they are able to fix it within weeks for the closed beta. If it's so easy, how did it take 7 years and hundreds of complaints? How is it STILL being delayed? Those are the red flags.
I suspect that Stephen Kick (CEO of Nightdive) is either a giant trustfund baby or a Bitcoin billionaire. Fucking dude doesn't remotely look or act like he's near 40 and has been running a studio that's been able to pull abandonware out of legal limbo. My point is yeah Nightdive is pretty fucking inept they're only laudable in that they actually give a shit in getting old ass windows games to work on modern hardware as opposed to GOG who will sell you games that run like utter shit.. Look at how botched the rerelease for Blood was or how even mainstream games journalists lambasted their rerelease of Westwood's Blade Runner. But anyway yeah the fact that this game should have been out at least 3 years ago shows how poorly managed they are. Still after 6 years they've made a pretty solid game and no one was ever going to remake System Shock 1. I'm only on the 3rd Level of the Remake but I'm happy.
Yeah I wouldn't even call System Shock Remake an immersive sim, it's just that the company that made it defined the genre. Frankly I just like games where I kinda get lost in a maze and have to figure out what I'm supposed to do. That feeling good Doom levels have. System Shock Remake delivers on that.
I just hope people aren't fooled into thinking that this game is more than it is, it's for Boomers. And real Boomers I wouldn't conflate this shit something like Dusk.
>I just hope people aren't fooled into thinking that this game is more than it is,
Doubt it. Given that immersive sim these days, means Dishonored, Prey and Bioshock, evne zoomers thinking its gonna be the ultimate immersive sim, will get their fill.
The level design alone puts it above those.
Get ready for 100 threads of people crying over being attacked by the ranged cyborgs without ways of fighting back, because they haven't found the pistol or tazer yet
Yeah but it's a totally different type of player fantasy:
>Boomer Shooter
You're fucking Neo/John Wick and you get to bounce off everything and just fuck all these guys up.
>System Shock/Thief/The First Half of Deus Ex
You're a basic bitch and you better think carefully of what you do next or the enemy is going to murder you in seconds
I'm 100% of this if you give a normalfag who liked Dishonored this remake much less the original version they'd find themselves bored to tears.
No you're not unfair.
I'm just saying that SS1 wasnt an immersive sim classic anyway.
Its a predecessor to one of the GOATs, is all.
thank you backer
Original Shock 1 dev time vs the Remake's
system shock remake enhanced edition will fix it
the animations and icons are already top tier
cant wait
Thank you, we cut a few enemies, weapons, and mechanics to make time for them
cringe
What enemies, weapons and mechanics were cut?
From the most recent public demo. Still no Tranq gun, Cyborg Warrior still mysteriously absent despite being shown (Avian mutant was on the cutting board too), no more ledge vaulting and hacker's nerfed momentum
>From the most recent public demo
>demo
Nevermind
37 medical floor demos, but they'll probably add them in the 40th
There is ledge vaulting (crouch+jump).
There's several parts where you can fall down and get stuck if you don't know about it.
Avian mutant is there
Is this imsim fags complaining about the picking up animations again? lol. They still pretend this is fucking matters. That's not why Thi4f sucked ass, It's everything else that was shit. And it's still not a game design decision that matters.
It's always just downright bizarre how when someone points out that these needless, annoying hand animations that kill pacing are, in fact, not good, you get morons coming out of the woodworks just FUMING. They get so furious and defensive over it and I don't know why. Did you make these hand animations or something? How can you get this defensive over something so obviously bad?
yes, you're totally the cool headed person itt, sperging out over actual animations´existing.
NTA but he sounds way calmer than you
NTA but he sounds really cool actually and I think he has a big penis
Why would I give money to people who hate me and mine? You wouldn't buy a game made by right-wingers, correct?
based 4chan schizo replying to literally anyone now
Forgive me, this was meant for
which I assume is you, chud.
>Public demo has three audio logs in a row that replay the same grab animation
Pretty sure most games with this skip the animation after the 1st one too
100% bait.
Nobody can actually this butthurt over proper animations being in the game.
Nobody was butthurt about the animation being included, they were butthurt about them playing every time you picked up items and being unskippable. Also applying items, that shit changed the pace of combat. I don't even know if they have committed to doing the "only play on first pickup/use" yet.
>they were butthurt about them playing every time you picked up items and being unskippable.
o no. not pick up animations. anything but that!! not my hecking 2 secorinos!
oh god I hate animations so much bros. one click and its in your inventory was so much better. i hate immersion reminding me that I have arms and legs
>this but unironically
I KNOW RIGHT
>they
One schizophrenic who's been crying half the thread about irrelevant shit, and who only left the thread to grab shitty 4chan bait is not an argument.
I am literally the schizophrenic shit poster and I'm telling you that I have never seen anyone say that the animation itself is bad, just that it plays too much and gets annoying. And using items in combat is an actual gameplay change when it stops you from doing other actions temporarily
What I have seen is people complain that the expanded intro is a bad thing, which I don't really feel strongly about either way. I doubt it was "wasted dev time" or whatever because it's not like the animators that worked on it were neglecting things like combat tuning to get it done
>I
Stopped reading there.
>And using items in combat is an actual gameplay change when it stops you from doing other actions temporarily
Ganker when a remake makes things quicker: NOOOO THE LONG DELAY WAS MAKING IT MORE IMMERSIVE ITS DUMBED DOWN FOR CASUALS NOW
Ganker when a remake makes things slower: NOOOO THE INSTAHEAL WAS PART OF THE SOUL ITS DUMBED DOWN FOR CINEMATIC MARVEL FANS NOW
yada yada bla bla you're a huge gay and have no point other than change=bad, regardless of quality
>about them playing every time you picked up items and being unskippable
Yeah but you see they don't play every time you pick up items. Maybe that's why you're retarded.
>playing every time you picked up items
But they don't?
Plays for every audio log
a shorter version though, only first time it plays a long pickup animation
Kickstarter betafag here, I won't seeing the same animations over and over does feel dumb but uey only really happne outside of te chscenes.
I'm starting to fall sleep I can't even fix the sentence above. Have a goof nights fellas.
>It's always just downright bizarre how when someone points out that these needless, annoying hand animations that kill pacing are, in fact, not good,
But the animations are, in fact, good. Isn't that your issue with them to begin with?
>that kill pacing
>pacing
>in an immersive sim
Yeah I'm sure there's thousands of players who will alt+F4 when they have to endure 5 seconds of animation at the beginning of the game
I like it. Most people do as well. You're irrelevant.
yeah you really need a faster pace in literally the first minute of the game that's a tutorial...
These threads constantly prove you correct.
I have no idea how anyone can defend this.
probably financial and emotional investment. cognitive dissonance feels bad
I'm an imsim fag and no we don't do that. That's just that one guy randomly shuffling his deck to find anything to bitch about, and this time he simply landed on "animations during the game's introduction".
>STOP BEING IMMERSIVE IN MY IMMERSION SIM
>yet another delay
It’s gonna be trash
I just can't stand the art style of this remake. It's too fucking busy.
>It's too fucking busy.
I thought that too at first but I got used to it really quickly and now I love it.
The thing is that it doesn't look busy in the sense that it's "lived in," it looks busy like they wanted every screenshot to kind of... I don't know. If I was to put it in meme terms it would be that seeing comparisons between the original and the remake makes me think of the "Nintendo hire this man" thing.
Like they wanted to blow everyone away with "how far we've come."
No I know what you mean. It literally looks "busy busy". Every wall has blinking lights etc. First moments I thought to myself that I can't even differentiate pick ups from just random tilesets. But I got used to it pretty quickly and ngl, by the end of the demo I was really in love with the visuals
They greebled it up
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Greeble
I think part of it is they went overboard with the lighting. The game has light switches that barely do anything and are only there because the original had them. Everything has that "greebled" look to it, like an AI busied up the textures to look more sci Fi.
I don't hate the new look but I completely know what you mean with your vague complaints. It's a hard thing to fully explain, but I think I'm on the same page
Yeah. It doesn't look (for lack of a better word) "real." I can understand it looking like this in terms of construction, but you're telling me that they wouldn't put some panels over all of that?
It's hard to really explain. It looks like a tech demo or a show-off. And I can't get used to that because I'll always be somewhat aware of that.
There was something very "lived in" about the originals to me. Maybe it was helped by the lower fidelity letting my imagination fill the gaps, but the locations in the old games just felt so tangible. Like I could imagine engineers going about their business in the halls, hanging out in break rooms, etc
Contrasting that, the remake feels like a movie set to me. I can't imagine these spaces being lived in and not apocalyptic in the same way. I still think they look cool and function well as a Vidya level, but something feels more uncanny about it this time around and I haven't quite pinpointed why
I know what you mean, and I think I feel the same way. It's kind of like Alien. Yeah, there was a lot of "horror" locations, but all the places people lived in and spent their time looked like normal places. It'd be like if The Thing looked like the basement of Texas Chainsaw Massacre or something. Sometimes going "ultra normal" can actually be scarier in a horror game.
>I just can't stand the art style of this remake
Remember when they got rid of the pixelated 'retro' style graphics on a demo for the kickstarter backer until the backers complained? you can't win with the people demanding what they wanted. They wanted this in the game opposed to going more detailed. So if they were to do something more modern then there would have been backlash over it.
I love the artstyle and I think the mesh between old and new works perfectly.
But thinking thre's a garden gnomestarter backer out there somewhere going "I made this happen" makes me cringe beyond belief.
>But thinking thre's a garden gnomestarter backer out there somewhere going "I made this happen" makes me cringe beyond belief.
You didn't follow any of the development then you fucking retard. Because it was a controversy back at the time. The kind of controversy of 'i backed this game and now I'm not getting it'
>You didn't follow any of the development then you fucking retard
>following development of a game
lmao what a cuckold thing to do, only setting yourself up for unnecessary anger.
you want until the game is out. is it good? get it. is it shit? laugh.
simple as.
>lmao what a cuckold thing to do,
Yeah, following something is usually associated with crowd funded games. Because AAA development aren't making them.
Hear what went wrong with this project from Stephen Kick himself

Oy gevalt, can't wait to buy this game, am I right fellow gamers?
>~~*system shock))
This shouldn't be a problem to anyone except for neo nazi scumbags like yourself. I haven't seen them inject politics into their game.
This post convinced me to pre-order 3 copies.
2 shekels have been added to your account, generic shil #13536648.
Thanks.
Will just pirate it
>the 4chan schizo is back
Funny thing is, the animations wouldn't even register to me as anything worth pointing out. Literally a complete and utter non issue.
The fact that you even made a webm like this, really shows how terrible Ganker is in terms of crying over nothing.
Looks like a tech demo.
It literally is a demo
SS1 should never have been remade. the limiations of mid 90s hardware is what made it unique, there was never another game like it. in a modern engine it's just a modern game like SS2 but with a bizzarre level design. and it's clearly targeted at SS2 fans
Congratulations on the dumbest post in the thread. I concede.
I didn't know this was "low IQ brainlets getting attached to the first games they played" general. I apologize.
Remaking it to fix the overpowered hitscan enemies and lean abuse, maybe make some of the meme weapons and grenades a bit more useful, sounds pretty good
Dude this game came out like 30 years ago
Played the demo and utterly fell in love with it.
Bit surprised by this thread screeching over random things I didnt even think about(animations? come on Ganker...) but that's par for the course.
Everything about this remake makes me imagine it was designed with streamers and youtube in mind.
>A thirty year old game looks like THIS now?!?! | System Shock Remake
nightdive studios make a lot of remakes/remasters of good games of that era, often forgotten ones so they are probably passionate about it.
I would wager that the only reason most of those people on Ganker who have played System Shock only have done so because of the enhanced edition.
Pathecic creatures of meat and bone, cuh
Panting and sweating while they fap to her corridors
D-d-don’t peek at me.
A hard thing to deal with when it comes to remaking System Shock is that the original had no delay to anything you did. You can instantly reload or use health items. But that is balanced by you having to go with the mouse and dig through your inventory or press the reload button manually. So how do you balance this if you abandon the mouse thing.
Though it is interesting I haven't seen anyone complain that the reload has animation and delay but they do complain about the medpatch.
