I think it's really cool that a 30 year old game preserves such a nice look. No graphics, just has a feel to it.

I agree. Love DOOM's art style.
I tried to play this game but it made my eyes hurt as it was like 500fps or something
>No graphics
The frick are you looking at moron
Idiotic technologically incompetent zoomer
Don't be pedantic anon, you know what I meant with no graphics
NTA. What do you think the word "graphics" means?
I just meant the graphics are really old frens. I know the computer is producing visuals. What a specific thing to fixate on
>specific
You devoted half of OP to it, how the frick is it odd to question? moron
But yeah. Nothing else has the same speed and flow to it. Everything is so tight and polished. Not only is it a classic game, it's a milestone in digital expression and virtual imagery. As in, the engine. The art is also iconic, but mostly carried by the engine
I'm not op but you talk like a homosexual. Periods end sentences not moron.
I feel like a lot of games were like that back then though.
this shit's getting re released
They actually made a 3D remake of it a few years ago. I'm the only person who played it.
What is it? Rise of the Triad?
Yeah
https://store.steampowered.com/app/217140/Rise_of_the_Triad/
I played it but I immediately abandon any shooter that abuses hitscan enemies
You and my little brother.
I was there, I remember the hype threads, this was before "boomer shooter" was even a fricking thing. It was extremely faithful to the original, TOO faithful though, because as fun as it was, its not the best of the era, and recreating it just reminded everybody of that.
>a few years ago
Anon...it was 10 years ago.
Beg to differ, this looks really bad imo
You can also shut your prostitute mouth.
You know music has nothing to do with visuals, right?
>boring gray architecture
>floor is made of literal shit
i hope the rest of the game looks better than that
Nah. It's also pretty boring as well.
>I think it's really cool that a 30 year old game preserves such a nice look
>2474x1395
no
have you even clicked in the image? from the size of the ui you should've guessed the internal resolution
>2474x1395
Any Latinas here
Its called s o v l
youd think id would cash in and make some map pack or something
couldnt take that much effort to put out bi yearly maps
gaming is dead
romero made sigil a few years ago for the 25th anniversary
He needs to get his ass back to mars (with help from iD) and make a true sequel to doom ii in same engine, would make a fortune and cost almost nothing to develop
Nothing they make would be half as good as what the community has been pumping out for the past 3 decades.
Romero made some new wad, but I don't know if it's free or what
The closest thing you're going to get to that is Nerve Software's No Rest for the Living.
>ignores the other two posters who brought up a map pack made by the literal doom guy
it even comes as free dlc on the current sourceports. god anon, you are SUCH a homosexual
>thread dies
Back to the zelda threads I guess...

Only thing I do is toggle view bob, but keep weapon sway. I swear the older I get the worse motion sickness has gotten.
i still think the game looks neat
For the most part it still looks good. A lot of Sandy Peterson's maps look like shit though, especially in Doom 2. I'm still trying to figure out what the frick he was going for with the map Nirvana in Doom 2 and why he decided to texture an entire building with the fireblu texture in the Mt. Erebus level in Doom 1.
mcgee's boxes look like dogshit
Modern games tend to throw in all kinds of clutter and shit. It just becomes a blob of stuff your brain can't distinguish. But here, it's simple to parse even when running. You're standing on a brain, there are some trees, and the sky is red. This is imagery that can embed itself into your brain.
Also it helps that the levels only vaguely resemble real places. It gives it a dream/nightmare quality. Modern level design are easily recognizable as "real" places. Less room for the imagination to do anything.
I find it weird that I enjoy old doom, but I can't really stand Nu-doom.
I started with Nu-doom too fyi
nu-doom was made by diversity hires and has uncanny valley weapons, animations, everything
Delusional.
looks moronic
It's beautiful and it's the only way I've ever seen where a game improved over the classic Doom 2 SSG by adding a powerful and fun movement tool to it.
good for you, looks like diversity hire shiny zoomer shit to me
get help
Help with what? Firing the diversity hires and hiring some help to redesign zoomer trash? Yeah, that makes sense.
>Felix Leyendecker
That's actually a very Texan surname, apparently over half of all the Leyendeckers in USA live in Texas and id is a Texan studio.
This REALLY depends on what you didn't like about D2016 because it doubles down on some stuff but executes it with much more confidence. It also has more colors than red, brown and gray and has 2-3 times more enemies in most encounters. I love it. Pirate it to try, or buy on sale, it goes for pretty cheap on pretty much every sale. Just don't make the mistake of buying the DLCs without campaign, people do it all the time for some reason.
>This REALLY depends on what you didn't like about D2016
I just don't like how boring the weapons were.
I end up switching between guns to entertain myself before I finally quit.
I honestly don't know then, I thought D2016 guns were pretty fun, I just thought the difficulty vanished mid-game and the levels blurred together. I'd try DE. Maybe you'll love it, maybe you'll hate it. Just don't get filtered by the first 2-3 levels.
>I honestly don't know then
I know, it's because the guns are shit
Siege Mode is easily one of my top 5 FPS guns and I don't even like D2016 that much, I think Eternal is superior.
damn that webm looks like shit, I should try remaking it with lower resolution maybe
is Doom eternal similar to doom 2016?
I don't really like doom 2016.
zoom zoom
???
I do wonder why they made the leader of hell a giant brain on a spider tank and not literal Satan.
