A mascarada is a part where people wear masks it's not about it being "feminine"

How do you call a masked man in Spain?
Now, how do you call a masked woman?
Well, there you go. Enough with the mental gymnastics. Gamefreak doesn't even know what that bullshit party that you're talking about is.

That’s not what I said at all, stop being purposely dumb.
You’d never use the female adjective unless there’s a female noun somewhere, at least implied. Like in your example, the word “persona”.
But you can use male as gender neutral as well.
I know the word here is actually Mascarada and not Enmascarada, I was just trolling. But your argument is so fricking dumb that I had to answer you seriously.

Gato is literally cat in Spanish. There is no adding masculine or feminine when referring to gender

        Anonymous

what's funny is, the morons in spanish-speaking countries have been trying to defy the basic concept that "male" words are actually gender neutral and they want to either genderize all words or use the letter "e" as opposed to the letter "o". so gender neutral cat would be "gate", while "gato" and "gata" would be male and female.

it's like they don't understand their own language, it's hilarious.

Exactly and even if the "natural" gender distribution was 87.5% male that doesn't mean the total trainer ownership of that pokemon would match said natural distribution. It could easily be that 50% or more trainers who own that pokemon have a female Meowscarada. While 87.5% of the Meowscarda (Floragato species line) is male in the wild.

Which would make sense since if the female is more rare it would be more sought after by humans who would keep more them. This doesn't even touch upon how many Floragato in the wild even make it to the 2nd stage evolution Meowscarada due to various circumstances.

I think maybe the name refers to Meowscarada’s face (face being cara—a feminine noun in Spanish) rather than the Pokémon itself, so it’s like “cara” + “enmascarada” (masked) = masked face. Might be the case here.
