No. Yooka Laylee has shit level design compared to BK. First of all, they use notes as hidden collectables by putting them in hidden spots for no reason. BK puts notes in places where you would not miss them, and they help lead to new areas you haven't been to. In Yooka Laylee when you go into a cave on a mountain there is no telling where you might come out. You just teleport to a random places that makes no sense. In Banjo Kazooie a door on a mountain leads to the inside of the mountain. These are just a few small things that are plain wrong and shows the designers have no idea what they are doing even on a fundamental level. Their incompetence also leads to the platforming part of the level design to also be bad.

This game was extremely boring, I understood why people didn't like it when it released, fricking shit ass of a game.
If banjo kazooie is similar, goddammit how moronic are nostalgays.

It is very similar to banjo kazooie. gays like to become arm chair game developers and spout eceleb opinions on why they thought Yooka Laylee was bad. They're just huffing massive copium because they don't want to admit their precious nostalgia game Banjo Kazooie aged like milk.

grew up with and loved BK, finally got around to playing this like half a year ago.
it sucked dicks. people that complain about the quills being hidden away are gays. they are all out in the open or visible besides ONE (1) in the first level that is around the corner of a mountain in a quill bunch of 5. that's the only instance of shit like that happening. if you get to 98% quill completion and are thinking "frick there's 1 or 2 totally tucked away somewhere i'm NEVER gonna find it" you're wrong. you're gonna find them 1 or 2 quills in the middle of some sloped walkway you missed.

the real issue is the levels have no P.O.I.s that are visible wherever you are, so you hardly ever have a bearing on your surroundings or where you even are. that's why the casino level is actually enjoyable, you can pretty much always tell where you are in the level in relation to where you have been and where you want to go next. that's the only time the game feels like that. the rest of the time you feel lost in the worst way imaginable. sure there's landmarks in each level, but how they look and how they are positioned don't help you in the slightest. you find out towards the end of the ice level that the whole zone revolves (literally) around the ice palace, but it doesn't feel like that at all. really feels like when they made each level they opened up a blank area and just dumped shit in with no effort to make any of it meld.

      >ONE (1) in the first level that is around the corner of a mountain in a quill bunch of 5. that's the only instance of shit like that happening.

Imagine playing past the first level. Anyway, it doesn't matter. Even after a single one it's always going to be in the back of your mind quills can be in moronic places so you will always search everywhere.

        >find that one bunch of hidden quills in the first level
        >be on alerted lookout that there might be other bullshit quills in moronic places
        >next level...none
        >next level...none again
        >stop having that mindset after 1 or 2 hours

it's one bullshit placement in a game with thousands of collectables placed in different spots. YL is shit, but it's annoying to hear people bandwagon with shit that wasn't the problem. it's like when people praise Akira for the characters and story. like...that's not why it's good guys.

People tend to exaggerate Tooie's level design, calling it bloated, but that's exactly what YL is.

I don't hate that kind of 3D Platformer, but I am way more invested in 3D Platformers that play more like stuff like Super Mario 3D Land & World, Crash Bandicoot 1-3, Kirby & The Forgotten Land, etc. If they made a sequel in that style, I be more interested. I enjoyed Impossible Lair a lot, for what it's worth.

Banjo Kazooie and Banjo Tooie are both great games.
Yooka Laylee feels like someone tried to make a sequel to them but had absolutely no idea what makes them good and produced a soulless empty game that just sparks pure boredom the whole way through.
The only semi decent worlds are the first one and the casino and even then they're so flawed that they wear thin fast.
