why would you emulate instead of play the PC port
SM64 PC port doesn't quite behave the same was as the N64 version does due to some minor differences between MIPS and x86.

Chromebooks, son.
And most of them are either ran in a "terminal" mode, where the teach has direct access to every device in the classroom, or they just use generic Google apps / fricking Minecraft (Education Edit) for everything, never really saving / editing stuff as we understand it, not caring about it since there's only one tiny internal storage, or in worst case the system's flushed after each class so there's no private data stored at all.

well i don't know. i'm too old. but i see stores marketing high school test approved computers and those are just normal laptops with windows. i think they get like usb stick that launches some different os or whatever for test purpose so can't cheat

I built my brother a pc and transferred games over ftp because using a usb was too slow. I told him this and he had no idea what I was even saying. I’m not even an advanced pc user, Im just a millennial.

Hell, I just barely qualify as a zoomer myself(1997) and I've been emulating since I was 11.
I don't particularly enjoy emulation. It's like if no other choice then it will have to do. Also I guess I already pretty much played all the old games that I'm interested.
Sort of on the topic, I found hulk hogan frmv game for cd-i at flea market for 50 cents or so. Looked like it's probably fun for half an hour. Didn't realize it needed some addon that I didn't have. Was like okay frick it, I'll just emulate it. Apparently there's no emulator that supports games requiring that addon. So that was wasted money.

I went on an emulator kick a while back because there was a huge draught in video games I was interested. I went in on the fancy scene-created Frontend systems because I'm lazy. Played through a bunch of games I never got the chance to like BotW, bunch of other shit, etc.
It is nice being able to just boot up some Castlevania or Skies of Arcadia or something and it just works simply and it looks nice. I will say, the fact that every Wii, Wii U and Switch game all have their own weird necessary hacks and tidbits to setup each time is kind of annoying though.
Emulation is pretty much all I play these days, modern games are trash made for kids, morons and OCD gays.

It's the distribution of rips that falls into the gray zone, but no one has ever been sentenced for that.

I debloated my windows 10 install a little and it's taking almost 3 GB of RAM when idling. It's crazy
I dislike Windows but the reason it uses ram when idling is because of Superfetch, it basically pre-loads frequently used software, also unused ram is wasted ram

I generally only emulate games that were released for consoles I don’t own, but I own a lot of video game consoles. I’ve got burnt discs, hard drives and flash carts set up for all of my consoles, and I use an upscale with them to play them in living room. I do quite enjoy those video games.
