Even if people don’t what will even happen? Its not like they can become competent developers out of nowhere.
If you subscribe to the annual release windown being bad then good luck telling them to also stop all other merchandise that launches at the same time and makes way more money.
Face it man these games are second thought and they will always be subpar.

For Pokémon GO, maybe. I don't think Game Freak will touch that shit as they're VERY protective of what they put in their games, to the point they outright told their partners no-one but they were allowed to create pokémon creatures after Shudo went into business for himself for his movies.

Oh yeah I'm sure they don't care, it couldn't be that TPC is rushing these games out the door when they're half done to make money. This isn't a developer problem, it's a higher up problem.

Was it ever disclosed the budget of SwSh?
I'm just curious how much money they get to make these games. They get dick for time which makes sense as they want to just push out games as quickly as possible.

The thing that baffles me is just the amount of manpower they have at gamefreak compared to other big franchises that get games. People joke about "small indie studio" but they do only have ~200 employees. That's fucking insane to me when some of these other AAA dev teams have thousands.
Even if they just contracted out some of the work to some pajeets at least they could cheaply cover sprite / animation work and call it a day. But like what

And Tajiri still knows what HIS world should be, sorry he doesn't think your vision of the thing is acceptable.

See I'd buy this is they didn't hore some random Americans to design the monsters, it's clear to me that GF has wild ambitions but TPC is really hampering it with time and budget constraints. Hell that would even explain why all the new Pokemon are just shapes or a literal furry as they're just easier to model and save time. SwSh, PLA and SV genuinely do not feel lazy. They've gotten bigger, they actually listen to their senpaitachi and have made getting into competitive more accessible than ever and they supported SwSh competitively for 3 years and even applied balance changes. The people working on the game care, it's the people working above them who see the games as nothing but advertising for their anime and merchandise who don't. You have more than the right to be pissed, but you won't get anywhere if you don't point it in the right direction.

                >genuinely do not feel lazy
I would agree however I do think they're all unfinished.
It's like they were able to work on all the systems in the game 50% of the way there and then the higher ups came in and were like "yeah, this is good enough. ship it, it'll sell 20m+ copies anyway".
You can peel back the layers and see that they're genuinely trying new things. It's just so clear they have neither the time or manpower to do it which really sucks. They could take <5% of their revenue from these games and quadruple their staff for these games.
                >Brooks's law
Yes yes, I know before anyone brings this up. More staff won't always equal better product, but in TPC's case, I really feel like they just need more people doing the menial shit like animation / texture work.

Honestly I just think we should weaponize our anger towards the actual problem. Look at Sonic. It's also treated more as a brand than just a video game and the developers from Headcanon and Sonic Team have both explained in the past that the higher ups literally do not care, they never have the time, money or staff to handle anything and they're all overworked, underpaid and have to carry the brunt of bad decision making. I guarentee you that's what's going on here with TPC.

There is no-one "above Game Freak", you stupid cunt. They're as much involved with TPC's decisions, as they own it and gave it its mandate, in conjunction with Iwata/Nintendo and Ishihara/Creatures. Game Freak operate on independent contract with Nintendo (as in Nintendo gives them the budget to make a Pokémon game and the release date they wish for it, Game Freak make the game and tell TPC how they want to market it, TPC then go and tell TPCi how they have to market it) and are in a position where only they are allowed to add new stuff to the canon (all of GOshit's additions were GF staffers' work, in addition to Masuda and a few others helping to build the thing).
Or is it easier to just blame a boogeyman for the reality of growing up and seeing the kiddy series continue to shill at children, like it did to you in your youth?

So... Tajiri? You remember he was the one who said "Yes boss, I can get Pokémon 2 made for '97!" or are you just ignoring it to make a boogeyman again?
Nintendo and Tajiri both learned it takes them 3 years to make a game from scratch and just one to re-edit an existing game, if that (Pokémon Blue launched in Dec. 1996 as a special Corocor promotional giveaway). They planned out releases ahead of time and organised projects accordingly (Masuda saying he'd envisioned RS before being followed by DP, though remaking RG/B in that same period with the RS engine as a base). That they're still doing it now just shows they understood exactly how they should perpetuate the thing (because you're clinically insane if you think Tajiri isn't tickled pink by the fact every kid worldwide and a lot of the grown-up kids know the names of his creatures or its continued success).

When cawdoody starts giving a shit for the SP gampaign is when they're actively trying to become more consumer friendly. I don't play multiplayers, beyond splatoon and Team Fortress 2, because they're both in the same mould (insane universe, deranged weapons and lore, bright and colourful), but do love SP shooter games. Far as I'm concerned, when they start actively wanting to give me a game, rather than an excuse to shove me up against fat, sweaty nolifes and dudebros running on Gaymer Fuel is when they're courting general consumers.

COD is dogshit now, and implying Pokémon is worse is an insult to my intelligence.

          >Pokemon is trying to improve itself and become more consumer-friendly
Removing features like skipping battle animations, set mode, fishing and adding meaningless shit like auto-battle is the very opposite of becoming consumer-friendly. Nobody enjoys a $60 game that they don't need to play.

Notice how I said "online play?" Yeah you can complain about them removing fishing or whatever, but GF is actually designing their newer games around competitive play rather than hiding shit like they did in the Gen 3-5 days. COD meanwhile is removing metrics and stats from guns so you have a game bloated with 50 attachments that all seemingly do the exact same thing. At least GF isn't hiding rare Pokémon behind a battle pass yet.

Game Freak devs aren't talentless. I think Ohmori is just incredibly retarded. This mixed with the constant "one game a year" schedule just makes the games worse.

      Anonymous

I mean they could have one game a year, if they kept the releases between mainline games smaller/more manageable so that they could still put out a proper mainline game matching people's expectations every 3 to 4 years. But the children they make these games for don't care about framerate or graphical fidelity and GF knows that.

        Anonymous

The children they make this games for don't exist. Children don't play Pokémon games, the vast majority of the mainline titles are 15+ years old.

Children get bored playing Pokémon and go play Fortnite, which even with all the retarded dances and all that doesn't treat them like babbies. Children want to play as grown ups, that's why NERF commercials have teenagers or even college-age guys, children want to be those "rad" guys, if they put 8 years old blasting water at each other they'd only get the attention of pedos, not children.

Game Freak needs to learn where their consumer base is. It's not children anymore. And even if it was, that's no excuse to make a shit product. In any case, if it were targeted to children, it should be EVEN BETTER. Children deserve quality and well thought design.

The battle gimmicks are all done by Morimoto; he's the one in charge of battle balance. They're also the only parts of the new games that are actually good and have effort put in.

The only one that brought hype and was actually interesting were Mega Evolutions, unfortunately that was not viable and they threw it out. Everything else was bizarre shit. I guarantee you if they actually kept mega's and expanded it out it would of garnished more hype than the other mechanics.

The only people who like megas were kids 8 years ago. Older players thought they were a good concept, ruined by the fact they gave shillmons, pseudos and legendaries mega forms along with shitmon.
I'd have liked to see M-Fortress or M-Ledian but they gave out [email protected] and M-Fug.

I was in my 20s when megas were added to the series, and always liked them. Of course a bunch of shillmons got them, but plenty of Pokemon that deserved one got one too.

They just need to hire more people. Maybe it worked when they were sticking with 2d sprites, but 3d is a bigger scope and requires more time and people.

It's kind of sad that Scarlet and Violet aren't being received well because I'm enjoying the difficulty on some scale. The idea of letting players skip through higher level gyms was a good move, and casuals can just go through the regular path and not bitch about getting btfo'd because they're shit at the game.
But this is a completely biased take because I'm not a graphics sperg.

People bitch because once you'd done beating the last gyms at the beginning to get some challenge, you end up having to do the early gyms with your lv 50 pokemon

I didn't play the new game yet but my Pokémon 1 hit everything in the first 3 gyms in Sword anyway, so level 50 Pokémon on the first gym will be the same level of difficulty. It can't get easier than one hitting everthing.

        The rot is top down.

Ohmori, Masuda, the TPCi suits and even Nintendo are all equally garbage and the Japanese culture to maintain rather than innovate is strangling Nintendo's cash cow.

If they were to course correct, new blood like Iwao (USUM) or Unno (BW2) being the game directors would be ideal. Ohmori, Masuda, and Ishihara need to be taken out to the shed and shot. And probably a lot of changing of the old guard in GF's dev team too while they're at it.

Additionally, they need to work with support studios who are skilled in game dev with the Switch's hardware OR they need to hire more selectively and attract better talent. Either way, the radio silence about the rampant performance issues and glitches should be taken as the message they are sending.

The sales/pre-orders say it all. GF can churn out any old pile of shart and people will STILL gobble it up. While I do hope they'll address the issues and push out patches to fix it, I highly doubt it at this point.

          Anonymous

Sadly Japanese corporate culture is the worst, if Unno's or Iwao's grand grandfather once farted in front of the Emperor in the long past then they will never be able to lead the team for long, or if they are too young, don't bow too well, have the wrong blood type etc.

They really hit jackpot with Pokémon's game loop. The game loop is so good that no matter how hard you fuck the other things, there is something somewhat enjoyable in some degree in the game.

But that's all they have. They are as incompetent as they can be, and are totally out of touch with reality and current games. It's like they are isolated in a bubble and don't let any outside input to enter. That's how you get shit like Tembo or Little Town Hero, which on top of a very bad and backwards design, are very poorly programmed.

But no matter how shit those games, they know they'll always have Pokémon, and those games will keep printing money even if they are utter shit, so why try.

This situation can only be fixed by making GF step aside and give the reigns to a competent developer. I know it's almost a meme, but let Monolith or even Intelligent Systems make a Pokémon game without any GF say or interference. The jump in quality would be astronomical

That game has been out for a month, has 3k devs working on it, and an enormous budget. 1 quick question that may not seem like a big deal- are the menu backgrounds and the game lobby backgrounds like solid black and dull?

Ever played halo reach they had bright pretty landscapes in all their menus which I just loved. Or mw2 menu background even being a light grey with orange was much better than the darkness

The menu backgrounds showcase your character and custom weapons in order to entice you to buy cosmetics. The UI/menus were developed by somebody Infinity Ward poached from Hulu, so they're all horizontal with big square icons rather than being simple vertical lists like in the original MW2. It's very bloated and confusing.

ohmori can't design games. his idea of a fun game is to railroad the player up the wazoo and force you to do everything in exactly the order he tells you to. doesn't matter if the game is open world or not, he hates giving the player any sense of control or agency

I'm surprised I haven't seen many people outside of this site mention how distinct Ohmori's game design is. For any interesting addition that's added he'll cut something that was in previous games since he seems to dislike player freedom.
Despite this being an open game and having the accessible gyms, Ohmori still prefers you follow the order he sets for you. He also seems to like his cities to look more like set pieces rather than places you explore and interact with.

What I really dislike about open worlds in general is that they just throw their items on the ground and spread them out. No searching, no thought, just drive around and click A on the shiny lights. Even Elden Ring is guilty of this, but at least those items are mostly plants and natural ingredients

I seriously doubt one blunder will completely finish pokemon, but the brand is damaged a bit. I have no doubt, however, that the suits who are completely invested in this franchise’s success have plans for damage control of these types of scenarios. The issue is too many people think in NEEDS to grow up with them, when it's a peter pan series. It's meant to be perennially young, to keep hooking in the kids. Adults will play if they want (or pick up GO because they only really care about the critters/whatever). But kids relate more to child vidya characters than are able to put themselves in the shoes of older characters, so small wonder a child-focused series focuses on children, knowing rightly they won't care about any problems and that the rest of their audience won't find any issues a deal-breaker bad enough to have an impact.
Then there's the fact GF the studio are 10 years behind everyone else, due to Nintendo making shitty handheld hardware alongside their HD console, meaning GF didn't need to try as hard to improve till they hit Switch yet people expect them to somehow match platinum or Zelda team or whoever and it really just proves no cunt understands enough of what goes on to have a measured take on things.

          Anonymous

I'm fine with the series remaining for kids but its hard to imagine a lot of the newer games appealing to kids with how slow they are due to the unskippable cutscenes and text dumps. I feel decisions like that are more for teenagers/adults who wanna waifu up the characters. It seems like POGO is what draws in the kids, especially with the anime clearly taking more cues from that game than SWSH.
I would've liked SWSH way more if it didn't shove its nonsense plot in my face, I liked the sheer mon variety but the plot was stupid even by Pokemon standards and just took me out of it

Anon, Ganker has been proving kids will just mash "a" to get through words for years at this stage, you're projecting your own biases on the games, to handle the fact they stopped caring about you and STILL continue to succeed. Fun fact, they wouldn't be making the insane amount of merch they still are if kids didn't care. normies aren't buying in numbers the franchise pulls in for themselves, furfags won't get every bit of tat featuring the things they can. Hell, cardfags tell you buy individual to get what you're after, yet boosters walk out the door.
It's still reaching the kids, shit my wee cousin's got a fuckload of cards and some nice rares the collectrnigs would die to see being used for their intended purpose. They get them at the right age where this shit doesn't affect their experience and buy the time they notice it, they either accept it like the paypigs or sperg about it online continuously like you.

I mean if we're trading anecdotes, the only kids I know only deal with Pokemon games when it comes to POGO.
But you're ignoring the question of "why do they include that shit to begin with if they just care about kids?" That teenagers/adults are becoming a more relevant demographic for the Pokemon games is pretty obvious, as kids slowly move onto other games that better capture their attention, something even GF has pointed out. The real workhorse of the franchise is the merch, which is centered around the anime, and that's telling of what the kids actually like.

There is a cycle that happens in the west. Kid meets pokémon > kid turns teenager > teen drops pokémon for being "too kiddy" > teen grows to adult > adult finds the newest pokémon release advertised/on sale and buys it to see "if it's as good as i remember"

Yes, as that's attractive to investors, who see engagement with general public increasing, instead of kids and the dedicated video-game sect, which aren't as important to how Nintendo the Publisher/Developer performs.
Autismbro, just give it up. It is what it is and they don't care to give you what you're after.

They don't need to care about appeasing investors? What a bizarre argument. All because I said the games aren't as good at enthralling kids like they used to, a sentiment that even GF shares in their interviews.

Yes, Game Freak are independent and have had an IP that's been far-and-away successful from the outset so have no need to rely on investors to stay afloat, they're secure in their holdings and have a running contract to continue to release games funded by Nintendo.
Nintendo wish to court investors and more importantly, are spending their own money on the production of these games (leaving aside the fact they get 30% a sale and 100% of consoles sold alongside them), so mentioning the older demographic pick-up helps sell their brand to fuckwits worldwide looking to dabble in the markets or invest with an eye for a nice return, etc. etc. but even with that, they don't force Game Freak to develop the games a particular way. That defeats the purpose of paying Game Freak to make Pokémon while they fuck around with Mario for the Nth time.

                Anonymous

GF doesn't directly rely on investors to survive but they're still affected by investor decisions, as Nintendo losing strength would also weaken GF. Which is why Nintendo has put their foot down on GF at times, such as how we got BW2 instead of Gray. If Nintendo thought that increased adult engagement was worth telling to investors then I doubt GF would ignore that.
Of course you can't 100% prove that but decisions like bringing back old characters, hiring adult manga artists like Ichikawa, and having lots of dialogue scream "we're trying to appeal to adults too!". It's telling that you can't even say why these decisions would appeal to kids, but rather why it wouldn't bother them. Frankly I think the games would be better if they just went all in on being for kids, even if I do like Ichikawa's designs

You're right but my point is its beneficial for all parties involved to not let things get to that point. I've already pointed out an incident where Nintendo did in fact meddle with GF so I'm not sure what you're arguing here.

                Anonymous

You mean your supposition? Yeah, no. As I said, Nintendo DON'T bother Game Freak, because they know they wouldn't listen. They didn't care to meddle in Gen 1 (Miyamoto was only an advisor, who said it'd be best to have 2 versions, rather than the 6 thousand-odd Tajiri wanted to implement) and now we get to today, they're still happy to fire and forget. You ignore Game Freak do implement changes based off adult reaction, but were usually added with a new game in the form of a rehash. We got no rehash last Gen, so the "jump" was Legends, before SV and the *actual* reaction to the adult reception of SS, filtering out the manchildren crying over Dexit, naturally (Legends of course being made by a wholly separate team to SV given the mandate to adapt the core gameplay for SP). It's why rehashes and remakes always seem to do something the pairs never do (following pokémon in HGSS, as BW had walking sprites made for 649 for Entree Forest), because they're being done by different teams, with different agendas and intentions for the release (Legends, a filler game/rehash equivalent to gain EXP making more 3D content vs SV, the beginning of an entire new Generation of the series).

Yeah, that's because they didn't think they could rehash BW, it was a complete story and they were balls-deep in XY dev cycle.
Nintendo saying "make us a game for this system we're killing" isn't bothering, so much as surprising them, as they expected to not have to dev for an almost-dead system (even though RG launched with GB nearly dead, it STARTED in its pomp and ceremony years).

By a marketing standpoint, something aimed at kids that will also grab the attention of others outside that demographic is just free money for them. It is more productive and lucrative to go after those kids because you can hit them all. The older you focus on, the more you start to narrow your player base and the less money overall that it will bring back. Unless you're GTA where the rated M might as well not even matter because kids will manage to always get into that game.

No that statement is still true, especially for Nintendo games because the bias is real. Hundreds of great indie games come out every year but no one gives a shit, but Animal Crossing New Zip Code comes out with 2 villagers (more to be added as DLC!!) and a cute outfit to unlock and they'll start thanking them as if they did them a favor.

They absolutely could but Gamefreak as a company cannot, I repeat, CANNOT make fucking video games. Little Town Hero was something beyond a flop, if GF doesn't have Pokemon, they're not even a company anymore, and they know this, hence why they won't give it up and their only foray into outsourcing was a literal who no-dev because any actual dev studio like Level 5, Capcom, Monolith, etc, would outdo Gamefreak a hundred times over and everyone would point to these hypothetical games as the stuff GF should be doing.

Most kids are going to drop the shit out of this without finishing because there's nothing in the game to tell you which one you should go to next while the boss levels are set and not scaled, so they're going to end up for example at the fire base or Iono's gym with level 16s, get their asses handed to them, say, "fuck this shit, Fornight is better," and put them game down never to play again.

I thought the Pokemon Center nurses hinted where to go, but when I asked her she told me to go to the dragon titan and another told me the highest level gym (both 55 while my team is late 20's/early 30's and only obey me up to level 35, so that's not going to help kids either. The route isn't even obvious with lots of jumping around across the map seemingly at random.

I like the idea of being able to choose your own path and I think it's good that you're not forced to take the intended order, but there should be hints in-game pointing you to the ideal next area, otherwise you end up with a difficulty curve worse than Gen 2's.

Technical issues aside, here are my issues so far after about 30 hours.

    >can't turn off mini-map rotation
This is my biggest issue. I know you can turn off the main map, but I fucking hate when mini-maps rotate in games, it's just so damn disorienting.
    >"open-endedness" of the game
People are always saying "hurr durr pokemon should be open world" but after seeing it a few times from Game Freak, they just can't do it well. I'd so much rather go back to routes. Exploring on your own and encountering super high level pokemon is cool, but it's not like you can even realistically use them due to how to badge system has always worked. So I wouldn't have as much of an issue with it if that was at least changed.
But I hate that there's pretty much a "correct" way to go between all the objectives. It completely invalidates the open-endedness of it. This game desperately needs level scaling. I don't understand why they don't just scale every single trainer to be 2-3 levels lower than all your pokemon and have every Gym be equal to your level across the board. I'm fine keeping wild pokemon different, but running into a trainer with a pokemon 20 levels below yours just feels like it's wasting your time.
    >hand-holdy nature of everything
This is always my biggest issue with pokemon and I keep seeing people say it's not here in this game and I don't understand. Literally EVERY SINGLE objective on the map (gym, team star base, titan pokemon) is preceded by the respective NPC checking in on you via rotom phone. Fuck, even Nemona physically follows you around to every single gym. LET ME FUCKING DO SHIT ON MY OWN
    >thematic issues
I just don't like how the game is structured story wise. You have these gym leaders where being a gym leader is pretty much just their part time job. No one is particularly interested in being a gym leader, instead they're just bakers or chefs or salarymen that happen to be gym leaders. It just makes it seem kind of lame.

Otherwise I'm having a decent time.

      >I'd so much rather go back to routes
I yearn to agree, but, after how absolutely awful SwSh's routes were and how I did enjoy the Wild Area, I am unsure if I want to see Gamefreak try routes again.
I also understand that routes were heavily changes partway through the game but cannot see how routes can ever go back to the way they were from generations I-VI and even VII.

      >Exploring on your own and encountering super high level pokemon is cool

It is beyond cool. I was exploring near the end of the world with high level 40’s and came across a level 75 tera steel Dragonite. Catching it nearly wiped my team and burned tons of items. It was a thrilling experience.

      >I don't understand why they don't just scale every single trainer to be 2-3 levels lower than all your pokemon and have every Gym be equal to your level across the board.

No. Just no. Trainers for this game should scale with the wild Pokémon, getting to higher levels the further out you have to explore.

I’m on the fence about gym scaling. Before playing, I thought it would be good to do badge level scaling. Now, I think it would better to implement level caps similar to the “set at level 50” system used in a lot of post game Pokémon battle towers.I like the idea of being able to fight under leveled. Even without level caps, I think the games would benefit by giving the player recommended levels on a sign post. From there, the player could decide if they want a challenge, a fair fight, or to steamroll.

        >Trainers for this game should scale with the wild Pokémon, getting to higher levels the further out you have to explore.
But why though? Thematically I never understood this. Throughout a pokemon game your whole objective is to train your pokemon and level them up. Yet every single other person in the universe keeps their pokemon the same level FOREVER.

I think thematically it would actually make sense for trainers to gradually get stronger throughout the course of the game. I'm at the point where I only do as many trainers as the item reward guys require and outside of that they just feel like a waste of time which kind of sucks.

      Nah, it's there.
For example here you can see I don't have paradox tyranitar registered, but if I quickly switch from one end to the other you can actually see its sprite for a split second, along with other pokemon I don't have registered.
It's a complete mess and I think the reason it's laggy it's because it loads all sprites at the same time, even those of pokemon you don't have.

The item bag also does this when you scroll down quickly, the icons start to mismatch the listed items. Seriously thought it was either an emulation issue or my terrible old man eyes playing tricks but if it happens in the Pokedex too that settles it.

There are some major glitches, but I'm convinced most of the ones we're seeing post-release are from people playing with Nintendo's shitty online. I didn't even see issues like that when doing co-op on lan-play servers last week.

I just hate it because it makes the game extremely difficult to discuss with anyone.
Any person who hasn't played it just throws some random twitter video in your face "SEE SEE ITS BUGGY AND SHITTY!!!"
And then you have the other side who just refuse to criticize anything and say it's the greatest pokemon game ever made.

I guess this is pretty standard for Pokemon games in general. I just think there's a large group of people online now that love watching games fail and latch onto literally anything regardless if they've played it or not. I don't know if this started with Cyberpunk or if it was something like TORtanic.

I think that it's glitchy and kinda ugly but where it counts it's one of the best Pokemon games in awhile simply due to the fact that after the hour long tutorial you can fuck off and do whatever, a dex hasn't been this fun to complete since Gen 1. This isn't the end of Pokemon but GF/Nintendo does seem to take review scores seriously, with SM feeling like an apology for ORAS' middling reviews (almost no water routes despite being a chain of islands, the return of character customization)
Anyone crowing about "the end of Pokemon" is a moron but there is a possibility of something with the games finally changing. Maybe GF will expand more or have outside help or something.

TORtanic accelerated it but I think it started with the rise of Lets Plays and the AVGN, particularly when it came to shitting on actually bad games like 06. A generation of people have grown up on shitting on games for fun and wanna keep chasing that high, especially if it's a flagship affair.

As much as people shit on TPC their marketing and business model actually works. My point is that it can't be a fluke. And that there had to be something people liked about the series otherwise they wouldn't give enough of a shit about it to write long rants.

Pretty much. Pokemon has a really strong core idea and if you like the designs, then it'll work even better on you. It's proof that for many people, just the fantasy the game offers matters more than actual gameplay.

For reference, the independents are the black reviews, as they weren't taken online, to e torn apart by Big Media and subjected to the cancer you helped support.

              Anonymous

That you're wrong and trying to re-write reality? Most devs would kill for such a review average AND review split as ORAS got for what it was.
You want to know what middling scores are, go look at the spin-offs. Going by Ganker, they should be paragons of digital artwork, going by reviews, they tell you exactly how the normies perceive anything that isn't the gameplay they fell in love with (hell, even under Pokémania, the highest-selling spin-off was the game where the lead dev backwards engineered the battle engine, then transplanted it to N64, so it played EXACTLY the same as on handheld).

                Anonymous

They're middling compared to other flagship Pokemon titles (low 80s instead of high 80s) but you're right that they're still better than most other devs, lel
Still, it's obvious that SM was designed in response to the negative feedback ORAS got from actual critics.

His impression was all the people who worked on this game we're "self taught" and almost at the level of YandereDev.

It almost makes me think there's saboteurs at GF just fucking up the game because they hate their work. How is it possible that the higher ups saw all the glitches and just okayed it to get sent out? Did they just assume fans wouldn't speak out about it? Zero competent 3D devs at Gamefreak makes a lot of sense. They made great games in 2D, but as soon as they switched to full 3D the games took a drastic turn for the worse. The reason why double battles aren't in SV is because they never solved the frame-dropping from XY and so instead of optimising the games, they just removed them.

Just finished the main story, I usually spend the post game making a living dex but I just can’t do it in this, I can’t deal with how fucking slow it is to do anything. Zoom in on the map? 5 second pause, open the “customisation” menu by accident? 10 second pause. Catch a Pokémon? 5 seconds to show the Pokédex screen.
Fuck I’d barely seen anything even at the end because the trainers are manual encounters now and hidden behind the tiniest fucking render distance possible. How did they fuck it up this much? PLA felt like a beta test for something bigger, now SV feels like the beta for PLA and they realised they can’t actually pull off an open world. Give it someone else or give it one or two more years in development.

it's open enough, and people compare SV with xenoblade a lot and that game is also segmented in multiple areas, and honestly, is what GF should have done if they can't program a proper open world, I mean the city and area zero already are segmented so why not split paldea into 4 regions or so so at least the game doesn't die when rendering stuff

how rushed do you think Generation X will be and before the 30th anniversary rolling around the corner? I wonder if the BW/ B2W2 remakes will suffer.

They're never rushed anon They're just never created with shitheads like you as primary consumer (as kids legitimately do not notice these issues you're going full-'tard over, because they have colourful pokémon to distract them from them).
Gen 10 will be 4 years from now, to coincide with the 30th anniversary. Whether they take the full 4 years to make it, or take a year off before doing it in three as per usual is still up in the air right now but they won't miss the biggest marketing opportunity the series has seen yet.

Sorry kid, the issues are down to the fact Game Freak are only discovering the nuts and bolts of 3D game development since they hit Switch, not because they're under a crunch for christmas (they have the best working conditions for staff outside management in ALL of Japan's gaming industry, for fuck's sake including no mandated w/e work and ALL public holidays off, with 4 weeks paid leave for all staff on top).
Like I said, they just REALLY don't give a shit for trying to match some autistic fucker's opinion of what a good game should be, when what they do appeals to millions upon millions of others.

i suppose it's just a coinky-dink then that they all happen to come out around the holiday season

They come out because that's when the biggest kid-based purchasing period happens. If everyone celebrated the start of summer/school holidays as hard as winter gift giving time, then we'd see summer releases worldwide for this shit instead.
Go where the money is, adults can budget to buy shit during the year meaning you can release a game whenever and people will buy, but they will blindly buy for little Timmy and Susie in the lead-up to christmas (my cousin spent $800 on her eldest in a toyshop for chirstmas a few weeks back), so if you got a kid game to sell, best try and get in on THAT time period (speaks volumes that Legends sold so much from a January release too, but you ignored it to shit and screech on the normies buying what you didn't like then too).

And there won't be new remakes until the next Nintendo system, remakes are one a fucking hardware unit, like Mario Kart.

you think Game Freak would hire more programmers to keep things in check? i think the problem is they make their regions so expansively large.
