Gloves that provide haptic feedback when you touch your waifu so it doesn't feel like you're touching air.
Why has this not been made yet? I'm patenting this shit!
They have to become mainstream!
If you can literally feel like you touch your waifu coomers will pay good money.
Next is haptic feedback fleshlight so you feel like you're fricking your waifu!
If I was a millionaire I would make this happen tommorow!
This uses the Passthrough option on the Quest 2 (I Recommend the Quest 3 at this point since it has color now). Get Virtual Desktop, then Virt-A-Mate, put your model on a green screen map and use the green screen features on Virtual Desktop. See this video for more detail:
There's also stuff like VTOL VR which is a great fighter sim that's slightly arcade-y. There is also VR support for a lot of hardcore sims like DCS World or racing games, but there's also a good amount of VR content for games that can also be played on a standard display. For instance
This has the best bits of Star Trek style Bridge Commander with the ability to go on the away team etc. Playable solo, but best with others at their duty stations each doing their jobs on the ship , Captain, Pilot, Engineering, Tactical/Weapons, and Science. Playing in VR is really quite fun, both away team in person and on the ship, but its great without VR too; its just more immersive by far with it. Also the game experience varies immensely depending on our particular faction of choice. There is >Essentially a Star Trek Federation >Wayland-Yutani hyper-corporation >Loose alliance of gentlemen pirates >Futurama's Planet Express if it did biscuit fabrication and sales in addition to delivery.
The last one totally changes some of the objectives so its almost a different game, kind of ambitious. In any case, remember having fun with it in and out of VR.
It's going to depend on what you want to play.
If you're a simgay that can get infinite hours of of sims, then VR is basically mandatory.
If you like occasionally playing video games like most of Ganker, then it's going to be a gimmick to you.
The more you like video games, the more you'll get out of VR.
It's quite fun but I rarely feel like using it when I can just click to open a game in Steam and play on my screen. Displays still aren't that good unless you get one of those 8k ones for $1000. Not many actual full game experiences available for it, most are novelty/party games and tech demos. It's best used to play flat AAA games with third party VR mods.
That said I'd still say it's worth it. They're only a couple hundred bucks for a Quest or some other mid-range set which really isn't a lot of money for me at least, might be for some people, and you'll get a decent amount of fun out of it. But it isn't going to replace flat gaming for you. It just isn't all that comfortable to use and involves extra work when you just want to relax and play a game.
But I can. Europoor and I can afford al the VR nonsense including the Apple garbage if I really want to. $3000-$4000 is not an unaffordable sum you just have to make sacrifices like buy a shittier car for example to fuel your VR fetish.
How much could it cost in the future?
Fair enough but the average Yuropoor might buy a $15k car so a $3k headset isn't out of the realm of possibility.
But I'm not paying for something I know will collect dust after 2 weeks.
VR gaming is great but feels gimmicky, kinda like those arcade rooms who have cool immersive games with guns, car games steering wheels and real size bikes you ride, etc... at the end of the day no matter how pleasant it was nothing beats sitting on your couch/chair to play a normal game.
Nah. I'm fat af and even I would rather stand for 8 hours straight to play vr than sit and play some tiny ass flat shit becuase once you go vr, no matter how big your screen or TV playing flat feels like playing in a tiny window
I dunno about you, but if I'm playing a VR game then it's because I can't play it anywhere else
of course superhot vr is better than the pc release, having two independent hands is part of the whole gimmick and you can't do that with a mouse
But when it comes to stuff like fallout 4 vr, it's a bit more tricky. I can't really compare them because it's a different experience, despite being the same game. I'm either in the mood for one or the other, but never both at the same time, if that makes sense
Mods. Mods fix everything. Mods give us non shitty babified games in full vr. Native vr mostly sucks cause devs don't make it for vr gamers in fact they making their "games" for people who have never gamed before. And if you're one of the few you have their matchmaking will relentless punish you by sticking you with people who is their first time in the headset EVERY FUKING MATCH. Vr native games are almost impossible to play if you're not completely new to gaming
This isn’t remotely true, I play Breachers, gun raiders, and population one all the time and newbies are extremely easy to identify and are not the norm whatsoever
I play quite a bit of poker, it's mostly old dudes and women
when there's a kid at the table they're usually on mic, and they usually go all in on every hand, which means free chips, so I don't mind
Breachers doesn't use matchmaking, no one who isn't third world plays gun raiders, and if you're not getting matched with shitty people in population one, you are exactly who I'm complaining about

>Breachers doesn’t use matchmaking
I don’t know what to even make of this statement. What the frick? Am I having a stroke?
Gun raiders is a bunch of American kids and plenty of them are beasts at the game, don’t know what you’re talking about mate.
Shitty people play every single game so their existence is not a unique feature to VR games like population one. I mog people every time I play fortnite and I play it on a whim a couple times a year.

Anonymous
Literally every pop 1 match I got 1000-3000 damage points, the other 2 guys, literally zeros. They coulda just fired randomly in my direction and did more damage.
Stop shilling gun raiders and buy an ad. No one wants that shit
Breachers uses a server browser (at least until they add ranked)
Anonymous
Your experience in pop one is identical to mine in fortnite, apex, rocket league, etc. A lot of people are just shitty at games mate.
I’m not shilling gun raiders and I don’t play it anymore because even though American kids aren’t third worlders they’re still kids and the lobbies aren’t enjoyable, no matter how much I enjoy the game’s mechanics
And the main way people get into games of Breachers is quick play, not browsing servers. That’s like saying call of duty has no matchmaking because there are servers

Nope you're supposed to use the server browser unless you're with a party. In fact quick play was broken for the longest.

It was broken for like, a couple weeks max when the game came out dude. I’ve been quick playing solo with no issues since like September and before then it wasn’t even fully broken it was just hit or miss

I been playing for like over a year stop new gayging
I really like the fundamental gameplay of VR shooters. So if you like light gun games, tactical shooters, or paintball, there's clear value there.
I agree with the arcade thing but that's what I want, I like having the arcade-at-home experience. But sitting in front of a computer is what I do all day so standing up and moving around a bit for video games is refreshing to me.
Also if you want arcade at home don't sleep on arcade time capsule (for og cabinet games) and emuvr (for og emulators including motion tracked light gun games)
I would agree with other anons that sims are one of the better aspects, but I think it adds a lot to other games too. Actually aiming and reloading weapons is really cool. VR also gives you a sense of scale you don't get with flat gaming. The skyrim port is shit, but it's pretty amazing walking around the world and actually seeing the scale of it. This also really enhances horror games.
Imagine AR porn with your waifu projected over a mannequin with a fleshlight inserted in the vegana area !!!!!
You would literally feel like you are fricking her.
QR stickers on the fleshlight for perfect alignment
That's the poorgay option. Now:
Imagine a sex doll with stickers on it so the VR recognizes the limbs and projects your waifu over the doll however you move it.
Why is this not real yet? Someone patent this!
This is what we need but for the masses. The breasts should be made from soft silicone or whatever.
The vegana should be usable with a good overlay on top of it.
I tried out the Apple Vison this weekend and the 3D picture/video feature was actually kind of impressive. There was no hard border, it just sort of faded into the room with you. I could imagine the wonderful porn applications for that.
You need to be extremely social for it to be worth investing in. Nearly all the fun right now comes from interacting with other people through VR. Unless you're one of those people that just like to play fetish gore games with it and if that's the case go for it, but also seek help.
Oh and if you have a big head you're fricked. Take a standard ball cap and if it doesn't drop under the top of the ear and you have to use the last few clasps on the back you might as well avoid VR since the headsets are essentially one size fit all.
both
I went in completely blind, my only experience was the psvr in 2016. I don't use it every day but enough to justify the purchase of a £150 quest 2. No I don't want to upgrade for now, the Q3 seems focussed on AR which apple is also betting on, but I just want the psvr games
Anon the PSVR1 is one of the worst attempts at VR ever created, and I say that as someone that played a lot of it and was dumb enough to buy PSVR2. If you can extract enjoyment out of that dogshit platform, you’re a based VR gamer. How are you liking the quest 2, playing anything fun on it?
I meant I want pcvr, typo
It's fine, playing games is alright but making them is a lot of fun. I can see why there's so many tech demos, it's so much fun to mess around with
I’m tech illiterate and not very creative so I don’t have any experience messing around and making games unfortunately, sounds fun
I haven’t done any porn yet but I did spontaneously cum the first time I played blade & sorcery and grabbed a girl by the waist and she ragdolled. That was flustering to say the least and i see the appeal but I’m not enough of a coomer to get into it
It's good but it's not amazing
the biggest drawback is that there's little variety. Not just anybody with a phone can produce it, so the material tends to be "safe" and vanilla, very little amateur stuff
also it's not as plentiful as regular porn, you really gotta dig to find stuff, and dig even harder to find it for free. Two drawbacks
Og psvr was like the worse vr. It was so bad I only used it once and never again. Quest 1 fixed all the tracking issues pscr had (psvr 1 released faulty)
That's the poorgay option. Now:
Imagine a sex doll with stickers on it so the VR recognizes the limbs and projects your waifu over the doll however you move it.
Why is this not real yet? Someone patent this!
There is a scene in Blade Runner 2049 where Ryan Gosling purchases an AI holographic girlfriend upgrade so he can walk around his apartment and neighborhood with her. I do not need VR for games. I want the exsact same product that that Ryan Gosling's character purchased. Video games are dumb and so not help with loneliness. AI girlfriends are better than nothing. Provide me with this product and I will spend up to 10k to get access to it.
Imagine waifu projection over a sex doll. And she follows every movement too. WHY is this not real yet? It would sell millions!
WAIFU PROJECTION OVER SEX DOLL NOW! Whoever does this first will make billions.
Not a sex doll, it should just be one of those torso onahole toys. That way you'd be doing all the humping and the AR would turn the torso into an animated waifu of your choice, who would then put her hands on you, look at you and such.
this is just augmented reality + having a phone glued to your face, I fail to see what's so innovative about it
Main issue with this homie is he's doing it on a Quest 2, which was never made for AR. Also it's creepy as hell that she's not animated at all.
Good writeup anon, however your sly disdain for Ragnarock is noted and not appreciated
Honestly wasn't thinking of Ragnarock, the specific game I had in mind was that Friday Night Funkin' port, plus a couple App Lab rhythm games I can't think of the names of. Ragnarock is carried a bit by how cool the other shit is, since Viking shit is cool shit.
It kinda has ti remain obscure or meta will kick it off applab (it will just use itch and sidequest probably if so. Theres a steamvr version also but I think he focuses on standalone pripritized for xr reasons)
Seriously AR can project screens that stay in place no matter how you move.
We can't project our waifus over a sex doll that follows it's movement?
Use identifiers like QR codes or LEDs I don't care!
I disagree, I think we are in a desperation grey goo scenario. I desperately want to pay a developer to give me what I want. I need someone to funnel money into.
We can do it right now wtf are you talking about? You can project Ciri on your couch, you can also project her over a sex doll. Even easier if the sex doll has marks which the AR headset can track.
The only problem we have is nobody will program software for this.
He specifically does not want investors cause investors will frick shit up forcing their views n shit. Also eventually wants to drop chatgpt for something that can run locally and can't be removed or wokiefied by anyone like they did with replika ai
Right this second, it's... both, I'd say.
I mean, a lot of VR content is stuff you simply can't do outside of VR, like all the rhythm games actually making you move around and dodge shit, or playing legit arcade shooters in 20XX, or actually being able to judge distance in games where that would help. One thing I still want to try at some point is using AR to play a piano, it's such a cool idea.
...but then you get the gimmick shit like VR Youtube videos where your head is locked in one spot and the depth is simulated, or rhythm games where you're slapping four things like drums or arrows, or some porn game where they were so afraid of you getting nauseous that your head isn't locked into the character and you're basically just watching the sex go on and she doesn't even react to your touch anyway.
Disregard this entire paragraph if you're into social stuff. If you like socializing with people online, get it for VR Chat and you'll wake up a week later with a nasty headset imprint, wondering how you managed to stay in so long.
Biggest issue is that there's a pretty big lull in VR in general.
New headsets are what help drive the market, and there's only been two major releases recently, one being the Quest 3 and the other being that $3500 Apple piece of shit, with its shit FoV and the fact it has no games because Apple loves their walled gardens.
If Apple allowed third-party VR content, that would open the floodgates for rich Apple prostitutes into the VR market as a whole, which would turn a lot of devs' eyes into cartoon dollar signs and really kickstart VR development, but nope, Apple's gotta Apple.
Whenever the Index 2 comes out, that would probably help too, as the Index was the leader for a long time and was about half the reason VR exploded at all (the other being the Quest 2, obviously.)
Right now, VR is just kind of stuck. I agree with a lot of what wrote, but I'd argue there are more fundamental issues.
Imagine if someone released a headset that does everything current headsets do, but to perfection. Nigh-weightless form factor, zero detectable input delay, resolution higher than your eyes can see, infinite framerate, unlimited battery life, flawless hand and body tracking, and so on. It would be awesome, but at the same time, the limitations would be all the more glaring. There's nothing stopping you from pushing your IRL hand through a virtual wall. All locomotion beyond the space you have available in your room has to be done via teleportation, using a controller to push your character around, or an omnidirectional treadmill (which feels less like actually walking around and more like using a walking motion to simulate pushing forward on a thumbstick). The game world couldn't have slopes or stairs that you could feel. You can't feel the recoil of a gun unless you use a one-off device for simulating gun recoil, and even then, it's not quite accurate since those devices have weights that move back and forth as opposed to just shooting something out. Even with such a perfect headset, the amount of new experiences it could offer would be drastically limited.
I have a VR headset, and playing games with it is incredible. It allows for things you could never do with just a controller and a TV. However, until someone invents a holodeck or an actual brain-computer interface that allows you to plug your brain directly into the game, VR headsets will always fall far, far short of what people would truly want.
It's a gimmick if you're a traditional gamer (me), or a poorgay (also me)
It's worth it if you have money to piss away, and simply doing acid before gaming just doesn't make it heckin immersive enough
Quest 3 is worth the money as a tv/projector replacement alone. I can't comment on monitor replacement cause I haven't used one in 2 decades and don't see the point to them.
Eh, I have a wife and medium sized dogs, I feel compelled to be aware of my surroundings at any given time without a combersome thing attached to my head
As someone who bought the first two Oculus alpha and beta headsets id say gimmick. I also know four other people who bought headsets and they would say the same thing. In order for VR to take off it will need a game or two with longevity and atm the only ones with longevity are VRchat which has a bad reputation now days and army games which requires either to much equipment and or to much real life movement. Once a game comes out like the anime VR games where we can just sit there in real life while being able to do everything in the game it will pop off, that or someone will need to make something new someone hasn't thought of in the meantime until that happens.
You are already topping out the bitrates with current wifi6e and there wont be any crazy latency improvement because the bottleneck is currently at encoding.
Fricking HELL. You can project Ciri on your couch and have drinks with her. We can't project her over a sex doll? Someone make the fricking software already, I wanna feel like I frick Ciri.
I don't mind paiting QR codes on my doll or putting LED lights on my doll. If you will frick your AR waifu you can buy a cheap doll too. It doesn't need to look good as your waifu will be projected over.
You can also frick a mannequin with a fleshlight rammed between her legs as a poorgay.
You guys have no vision holy shit.
It can be done RIGHT NOW.
Nobody will do it because porn is taboo. If hackers could get their hands on the proprietary software they could do it in a few months.
If I was rich I'd pay them.
As an actual gamer who enjoys actually gaming more than shitty porn I can say VR is sorta kinda a gimmick but I feel like it was worth it ever since my $100 Lenovo Explorer. I've got picrel now with knuckles controllers and hoooly frick bros, it's sublime.
boneworks/bonelab has been my favorite VR game so far, but Ancient Dungeon VR is fun with friends. I also like to just explore custom worlds and maps in VRChat and sometimes half life alyx
same. I like the headset. I pretty much watch most of my movies and play all the games I can on it. Even the ones that don't have native VR can still be a lot of fun since it's like a giant monitor in front of your eyes
The future of AR porn and waifu fricking is literally in this thread!
Anyone that makes this happen will be labeled a hero. Send this to Twitter let them know that the people want THIS. Profits will follow.
It exists, it works great.
I played that Wario game for a while, the 3D effects work great.
Of course the VB only had like 8 total games that weren't complete garbage, but the good ones on there were actually pretty good.
No clue how accurate it is to the real thing, but it works fine for me and I'm surprised how decent the 3D effect is in the games that utilized it right.
I remember a game or two outright not booting, but I don't know if that was my fault for picking a bad ROM or if the emulator itself has issues.
Both really, depends on the platform and the games. There are some pretty great experiences in VR and then there are some that ONLY work in VR etc. There are also a lot of tech demo level games that are basically priced high simply because of VR, like anyone who has VR must have cash to throw around - its the "Apple approach" where the most popular archiver on OSX is a $50 proprietary shitfrick utility that does the same or less than the completely free (both as in beer and as in speech) 7zip or PeaZip.
The tech is evolving and this is good, but we're kind of at an awkward place. A LOT of it is proprietary garbage sadly, Windows only, a data mining operation strapped to your face, and /or is trying to push their little walled garden exclusivity. I'd advise NOT supporting most companies because of this. Valve once again is perhaps one of the only ones that seriously gives a shit about an open VR ecosystem for hardware and software alike, so they're worth supporting. The Index is an excellent headset still, but I have to admit its no longer the newest and highest end hardware in its relative field, but its still very capable, moddable and the like . If you can get one refub or otherwise discounted its a good first set, and the "index knuckles" controller have ben the standard for finger tracking for years, same with the Index Lighthouse 2.0 sensors; even HMDs from other companies end up selling or using Valve's controllers and sensors at times. Meta basically tried to facebook their way into the market with dropping cheaper hardware in the hopes of getting a locked in userbase, so despite Quest 3 and Quest Pro being newer hardware it sucks to support their shitty datamining operation, even if you just use it on PC (and no, without a lot of frickery you can't just 'turn it off' it has a phone SoC in the HMD itself ).
Now that Apple has pushed their $3500 abortion out, expect renewed VR interest. Lets hope that Valve's "Deckard" arrives soon
vr gaming is such a meme in practice, I want a VR headset when it's good enough for virtual monitors, so basically the apple VR thing but lighter and with multidisplay support
The tech itself as a gaming platform has huge promise but the VR-dedicated library is incredibly lackluster unless you're the kind of guy to spend forever playing some rhythm game or "playing" shit like VRchat. All the best content - bar very few exceptions - available in VR is just non-VR stuff ported over, often unofficially by modders and such. That should tell you a lot about the state of the VR games industry.
I never said $500 was a lot money. VR gets old after a month, $500 is a waste of money on a brick you will never use. It turns playing video games into a chore as soon as the awe factor wears off.
i still bust the strongest nuts in vr and im 3 years in. unironically gonna buy a quest 3 just so i can use the passthrough mode strictly for coomer games.
It’s a fun way to play unique games and to experience previous games in a new way. If you enjoy it you’ll have no problem finding replayable games, especially on a standalone device like the Quest 2 or 3 that doesn’t need any setup and you can just turn on and start playing. If you don’t enjoy the platform that’s fine but you’re just one insignificant opinion-holder so who really cares?
according to meta you can potentially render 1/20th the pixels with foveated rendering and fill the missing peripheral detail with AI shit which you don't really notice since your peripheral vision is shit
also literally just put the video in full screen and stare at the white square up close and notice how all the AI filled shit looks fine when you do
This is way too hyped up. You think people wouldn't already be doing this if it worked? The problem is you would notice if the details in your peripheral kept changing every time you moved your eyes. Even aliasing artifacts are noticeable if the resolution is too low, which is why games with dynamic foveated rendering only squeeze out an extra 30% fps. I can't imagine how annoying it would be with AI artifacts.
it's not done because VR games are made by amateurs and small studios and engines like unreal 5 don't support eye tracked foveated rendering and even when foveated rendering is done it's done in a dumb way instead of doing fancy AI shit
it's not a thing and nvidia literally did a study with different foveation techniques that showed temporally unstable ones are the least forgiving in artifact detection
https://research.nvidia.com/sites/default/files/pubs/2017-09_Latency-Requirements-for/a25-albert.pdf
it's not done because VR games are made by amateurs and small studios and engines like unreal 5 don't support eye tracked foveated rendering and even when foveated rendering is done it's done in a dumb way instead of doing fancy AI shit
I genuinely don't understand how people enjoy VR porn, it's just as static as regular porn with 0 interactivity anyway
Even games like virt-a-mate are just glorified scene viewers where you can barely interact with the scene without breaking it, you don't even have a full VR body
The only VR game that has halfway decent sex is VRchat and that's because you have to e-hump actual people, but you need FBT for that in the first place so the cost of entry is 2-3x the actual headset itself
The best use I found for VR was unironically just watching movies
. I just watched Emily Bloom dance naked for me and everytime she gets closer, with the 3D, it makes me shudder. ALMOST came (it was just a fifteen minute video).
I have the original PSVR (not 1080, a dozen wires, etc.). They did an updated version (not the actual 'psvr2') with higher resolution and less wires, but at that point I wasn't gonna spend more money. Now, people have the Quest that I don't think has any wires. I kinda want one, but I just know it'll be like my psvr. I'll play it for like 6 months and then put it in the closet. I think the best thing possible would be a price cut. For the price of a quest, I can buy a console or Steam Deck which will provide more entertainment overall. Anything cheaper but high quality?
PSVR is truly the worst iteration of VR out there. Ton of wires, horrible resolution, controller tracking is dogshit, no games. Early adopters (like you and me) got shit on for giving it a chance. The Quest 2 is damn near a completely different experience and entry price is far lower than any other fully supported VR. If you managed to play PSVR for 6 months you’re a chad and you’ll probably actually enjoy VR in the new era
Ok, so Quest 2 is still a good option? Are there any games/apps that won't work on 2 but will on 3? Also, this is all streamed content basically? No need to link it to a pc?
Quest 2 is still good for anything but XR based stuff (like figminxr will crash it) and maybe the next iterations of emulators (current is probably at the limits of quest 2 capabilities)
Quest 2 is fully standalone, you’ll buy games for it in its own little app store type deal, but can also be used for PCVR if you want. I don’t think quest 3 has been around long enough for it to have stuff that doesn’t work on 2. I’ve played ghosts of tabor on my 2 which just released last week and it runs fine
The Quest 2 is still a fine option. The only notable difference between the 2 and 3 is that there are cameras on the 3 for AR. The 3 obviously looks better though.
It's a standalone device that doesn't need to connect to anything but you'll have a better experience if you connect it to your PC. If you have a Wi-Fi 6 router, you'll have a wonderful time connecting to your PC wirelessly.
Ok boys. I am interested. However, used Quest 2 is still like $230 on Amazon.
That’s not bad tbh, but should be able to get under $200 on something like Facebook marketplace. I’m not in a huge area and I just checked and I have a lot of options

Because the thing is, if you like it (I immediately did) you will want to upgrade to pc and quest 3 immediately. You will fomo hard. But pc first. Pc is a must if you like it cause the native vr is mostly just wets your whistle and leaves you wanting more. Pc mods is where you get you fill

Definitely agree, once you dip your feet in you probably want to dive in fully. But your PC is going to be a bigger bottleneck than your headset so imo you’ll probably want to get that to max capability and then you can make a decision on the headset

In that case, I might as well just buy a quest 3 when I get some more money and save the $200. I do plan on building a new pc this summer, so maybe i'll grab a quest 3 after that.

Sounds like a plan, honestly the lens on the quest 3 is a little less of a hassle to start with than lenses on headsets made before it.l, bigger sweet spot and doesn't have the same godrays issue.

I'd love a VR headset with great passthrough and supporting running games in 300" windows where the game has proper depth like it was a window to another world
It's great. Definitely worth the 500 bucks headset, especially if you have a strong PC already. I don't play it everyday though, it's mentally exhausting.
It's mostly just kinda meh, but maybe part of that is that I got an old used headset for cheap that isn't great.
In practice the 360° 3D you're essentially getting with the goggles and the hand controls aren't worth the trade-offs VR makes along the way. The control scheme kind of forces games into the same couple archetypes and has no real flexibility to it, a lot of dedicated VR games are either really advanced light gun-esque rail shooters, make a point about how wacky and weightless VR feels as part of the joke or try to have sword fighting with equipment that cannot emulate the weight or resistance of a sword.
It's probably not a popular opinion but some of the higher effort VR games like HL Alyx also just further served to highlight the limitations. Even with Valve magic the best they managed was something that feels vaguely tech demo-y.
the cheapest I can find a quest 3 is 589€ and the grainy passthrough and lack of eye tracking make me want to wait for a better options because I'm a poorgay who will be using the same headset for at least 3 years if I buy one at that price range
yeah I might as well get a quest 3 since a quest 4 is probably at least a year away, but just better passthrough and eye tracking would be huge upgrades
Quest 4 sounds like 2-3 years (5 before avp raised the bar on screen res) quest 3 lite is said won't have color passthrough but most importantly it won't have pancake lenses so no reason to wait on that. Thats maybe a year. It wouldn't surprise me if they try to reboot a new pro but again it would be in the 1500-2k+ range
Sounds like they didn't want to release the quest 3 yet (quest 3 launch was actually kinda rough when it came to even first part accessories). And they stayed they're releasing hardware to fast and wanted this one to last longer
I’m actually shocked how many people are bringing up passthrough as a selling point. I’ve just never given a shit about AR or passthrough stuff, I’m more interested in virtual worlds I don’t care at all about projecting virtual shit into the real world. I guess this is the apple effect
the best use case for the apple headset is a portable gooncave and it's actually cheaper than buying real screens for a real gooncave
what were they thinking
Even tho it's shit, I actually use it a lot. More for periphery when doing flat stuff. I like to wear it to the sitter now, some times I will put it on specifically to go take a shit (when I know imma be in there for 30 mins to an hour) the right controller is all you need (hand tracking works but can be finiky). Or to smoke real quick or drink coffee without having to take the headset off. Also when I go downstairs to eat ill just keep it on to keep watching whatever I'm watching
Walking dead saints and sinners and Breachers probably my biggest replays. Endless dungeon potentially, much more likely if you have friends to game with. Haven’t played legendary tales or Asgard’s wrath yet but they look really promising for long playthroughs. Skyrim and Fallout 4 VR got more time out of me than they did flat. Elite dangerous also very comfy and fun while being unplayable flat (for me)
As someone who owns 2 VR headsets and puts in dozens of hours a week into the platform
both, and that’s okay
You tell me
Gloves that provide haptic feedback when you touch your waifu so it doesn't feel like you're touching air.
Why has this not been made yet? I'm patenting this shit!
There are several examples in development and you can make your own for about 50$.
They have to become mainstream!
If you can literally feel like you touch your waifu coomers will pay good money.
Next is haptic feedback fleshlight so you feel like you're fricking your waifu!
If I was a millionaire I would make this happen tommorow!
You would no longer be a millionaire after that. You'd be a billionaire.
They already exist
Yeah no, I can lift and place a glass to my table without wearing $1000 goggles on my face.
this is just augmented reality + having a phone glued to your face, I fail to see what's so innovative about it
trying too hard to be those cuck gifs
How do I get this?
This uses the Passthrough option on the Quest 2 (I Recommend the Quest 3 at this point since it has color now). Get Virtual Desktop, then Virt-A-Mate, put your model on a green screen map and use the green screen features on Virtual Desktop. See this video for more detail:
Nice my quest just came in too
this looks so unbelievably fricking bad
Quest 2 passthrough isn't that great, I have no idea what anon is trying to say other than he is lonely and likes the witcher.
>it's an expression of pain
it's only worth it if you play racing sims
This.
Owned vr since cv1. There are some gems, but most are launch titles.
Vr was a real race to the bottom
airplane sims are good too
There's also stuff like VTOL VR which is a great fighter sim that's slightly arcade-y. There is also VR support for a lot of hardcore sims like DCS World or racing games, but there's also a good amount of VR content for games that can also be played on a standard display. For instance
https://store.steampowered.com/app/252870/PULSAR_Lost_Colony/
This has the best bits of Star Trek style Bridge Commander with the ability to go on the away team etc. Playable solo, but best with others at their duty stations each doing their jobs on the ship , Captain, Pilot, Engineering, Tactical/Weapons, and Science. Playing in VR is really quite fun, both away team in person and on the ship, but its great without VR too; its just more immersive by far with it. Also the game experience varies immensely depending on our particular faction of choice. There is
>Essentially a Star Trek Federation
>Wayland-Yutani hyper-corporation
>Loose alliance of gentlemen pirates
>Futurama's Planet Express if it did biscuit fabrication and sales in addition to delivery.
The last one totally changes some of the objectives so its almost a different game, kind of ambitious. In any case, remember having fun with it in and out of VR.
Gimmick for now. Until we get better immersion tech or habtic feed back.
Its a great replacement for all TVs essentially giving yourself a personal theatre with a massive TV
too bad it’s low resolution as frick and you have to wear a heavy as frick headset
For the old VR headsets yes but for the newer ones they have high resolution per eye and it gives a crisp projection of the image
It just isn't all that comfortable to use and involves extra work when you just want to relax and play a game.
fun and exciting for the first couple hundred of hours after that it turns into a glorified coom machine
Just got Virt-A-Mate
wew it can get complicated with VamX but damn.
my dick be raw.
A complete gimmick. But we're moving in the right direction. Fully immersive cyberpunk nonsense might actually be possible in real life.
You'll never be able to afford what you want.
But I can. Europoor and I can afford al the VR nonsense including the Apple garbage if I really want to. $3000-$4000 is not an unaffordable sum you just have to make sacrifices like buy a shittier car for example to fuel your VR fetish.
How much could it cost in the future?
European cars can't get much shittier.
Fair enough but the average Yuropoor might buy a $15k car so a $3k headset isn't out of the realm of possibility.
But I'm not paying for something I know will collect dust after 2 weeks.
Half by end of year either by competition or them releasing a non pro version
Also if you want arcade at home don't sleep on arcade time capsule (for og cabinet games) and emuvr (for og emulators including motion tracked light gun games)
what about OG cabinet light gun games?
I used to play point blank at an ice rink after watching my brothers hockey game
Yeah. I think they stop ay PS2 Era. For actual cabinet cabinet (never was on console) you want i think it's called technoparrot
I play mostly thrill of the fight, but it's worth it since I like boxing and you can't get real boxing in games in any other way
oh and what
said, I don't own tv so watching movies with it is really neat also ms flight simulator flying over cities in a chopper is fun
Sims and porn are the killer apps. If those aren't your things than it's more of a novelty than anything.
Just bought a Quest 2 for about a buck fity. It's real neato but super intense so I can last for only 20 mins or so. Vr Porn is amazing
Imagine AR porn with your waifu projected over a mannequin with a fleshlight inserted in the vegana area !!!!!
You would literally feel like you are fricking her.
QR stickers on the fleshlight for perfect alignment
Hmm that's actually a pretty good idea...
If I was a billionaire I would invest in this yesterday! Why can't rich fricks see what would sell? The coomers would be devouring that shit.
I could imagine the wonderful porn applications for that.
yeah but the 3D picture stuff doesn't have any parallax meaning it looks the same if you move up/down/left/right, so it's like a 3DS photo
Oh, hmm, well that's a thing.
I can see why there's so many tech demos, it's so much fun to mess around with
also the porn, hot damn the porn
I’m tech illiterate and not very creative so I don’t have any experience messing around and making games unfortunately, sounds fun
I haven’t done any porn yet but I did spontaneously cum the first time I played blade & sorcery and grabbed a girl by the waist and she ragdolled. That was flustering to say the least and i see the appeal but I’m not enough of a coomer to get into it
I deleted all my regular porn after getting my headset, really a game changer.
H3VR is pretty awesome as well especially for a gun nut like me that lives in a country with strict gun laws
Also frick WMR, now that it will be EoL soon I hope I can use the reverb g2 natively with SteamVR
Two drawbacks
well I found more than enough for my needs on vrxxx dot com where you can download most non premium stuff with jdownloader
good quality on most stuff too, so a sizable HDD is recommended
Og psvr was like the worse vr. It was so bad I only used it once and never again. Quest 1 fixed all the tracking issues pscr had (psvr 1 released faulty)
That's the poorgay option. Now:
Imagine a sex doll with stickers on it so the VR recognizes the limbs and projects your waifu over the doll however you move it.
Why is this not real yet? Someone patent this!
anon you can already strap trackers on shit and just add models
There is a scene in Blade Runner 2049 where Ryan Gosling purchases an AI holographic girlfriend upgrade so he can walk around his apartment and neighborhood with her. I do not need VR for games. I want the exsact same product that that Ryan Gosling's character purchased. Video games are dumb and so not help with loneliness. AI girlfriends are better than nothing. Provide me with this product and I will spend up to 10k to get access to it.
Waifuverse but it has no voice modulation yet, just the gay robot voice
Imagine waifu projection over a sex doll. And she follows every movement too. WHY is this not real yet? It would sell millions!
Dude, I have fifty thousand dollars aet aside for that tech. I will not touch it until I get the product I want. But I am ready to spend money!
but sex doll does not move.
You can move the sex doll yourself. The waifu projection should follow the movements. Which is easy if the doll is marked for the AR headset.
but in most cases it still would look like she is paralyzed.
Even better I love paralyzed women! Not my problem.
>use ar and ai to animate the mouth and voice
>now you got your waifu trapped in a sex doll all to yourself
I would love her, maybe not even sex her. A girl who gets your internal algos would make me so happy.
Not a sex doll, it should just be one of those torso onahole toys. That way you'd be doing all the humping and the AR would turn the torso into an animated waifu of your choice, who would then put her hands on you, look at you and such.
Main issue with this homie is he's doing it on a Quest 2, which was never made for AR. Also it's creepy as hell that she's not animated at all.
Honestly wasn't thinking of Ragnarock, the specific game I had in mind was that Friday Night Funkin' port, plus a couple App Lab rhythm games I can't think of the names of. Ragnarock is carried a bit by how cool the other shit is, since Viking shit is cool shit.
It is real. You can put trackers on the pillow/doll. Waifuverse again. The base app is free the sexo is unlocked with patreon
This shouod be mainstream. We can't let this die as a niche project!
This is the future of masturbation
It kinda has ti remain obscure or meta will kick it off applab (it will just use itch and sidequest probably if so. Theres a steamvr version also but I think he focuses on standalone pripritized for xr reasons)
Seriously AR can project screens that stay in place no matter how you move.
We can't project our waifus over a sex doll that follows it's movement?
Use identifiers like QR codes or LEDs I don't care!
Even so we're still like 100 years from it at the very least, it's time to assume we won't witness that in our lifetimes
Waifuverse already exists
It has to be mainstream to attract investors
He specifically does not want investors cause investors will frick shit up forcing their views n shit. Also eventually wants to drop chatgpt for something that can run locally and can't be removed or wokiefied by anyone like they did with replika ai
Tech nerds, please give me a reason to spend money. I have so much money to give you. Obscene amounts of money. Just give me what I want!
WAIFU PROJECTION OVER SEX DOLL NOW! Whoever does this first will make billions.
Good writeup anon, however your sly disdain for Ragnarock is noted and not appreciated
However, until someone invents a holodeck or an actual brain-computer interface that allows you to plug your brain directly into the game, VR headsets will always fall far, far short of what people would truly want.
>using a controller to push your character around
wowee oh no playing a video game requires a video game controller!!!
That's what the passthrough is for
As someone who bought the first two Oculus alpha and beta headsets id say gimmick.
Will blade and sorcery ever release the proper single player they've promised?
Hyped for wifi 7
That wont really give you much anon.
Why not?
You are already topping out the bitrates with current wifi6e and there wont be any crazy latency improvement because the bottleneck is currently at encoding.
Supposedly we shouldn't see an improvement until we start seeing split rendering or avp level with an actual gpu.
Fricking HELL. You can project Ciri on your couch and have drinks with her. We can't project her over a sex doll? Someone make the fricking software already, I wanna feel like I frick Ciri.
sure, do you mind painting QR codes on your realdoll? or buying semi-transparent stickers if that's too much of a commitment
It is a lot of fun and physically tiring compared to KMB. Biggest downside to me by far is the nausea while playing, it can be pretty strong.
Has anyone made a virtual boy emulator for VR? Would legitimately be interested in seeing how it would've looked.
It exists but never tried it
It exists, it works great.
Can I get a link? Sounds like it's worth checking out
https://sidequestvr.com/app/125/virtualboygo
It's a gimmick worth getting into
The porn must be amazing
I bought a Quest 2 during COVID and now I just occasionally use it for porn.
It's a gimmick that's not really worth getting into
It's okay not worth $500. Buy it during Best Buy holiday return period, pirate and beat all the worthwhile games, return it on Jan 10.
$500 is not a lot of money anon.
Passthrough is an hmd lottery where you're 80% likely to get a unit with shitty passthrough, but the lenses are worth it.
The passthrough quality is complete shit but passthrough porn is still pretty good. It's still the only thing worth buying VR for
why passthrough and not just some VR space?
what do you mean... so you can line guy in the video's penis up with your own
I mean so you can jerk off in your cuck corner when looking at some furry 4D monstrosity orgy
it's not like you can have sex with VR
are you autistic or what
no
plug up and get railed by the bbc in vrchat and tell me you aren't having sex bro
Lol that must be why I only watch solo camgirls now
You can put em on your bed n stuff. Adds more realism
It’s a fun way to play unique games and to experience previous games in a new way. If you enjoy it you’ll have no problem finding replayable games, especially on a standalone device like the Quest 2 or 3 that doesn’t need any setup and you can just turn on and start playing. If you don’t enjoy the platform that’s fine but you’re just one insignificant opinion-holder so who really cares?
someone post the skyrim webm
no foveated rendering on PC = alpha stage product
according to meta you can potentially render 1/20th the pixels with foveated rendering and fill the missing peripheral detail with AI shit which you don't really notice since your peripheral vision is shit
source https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NPK8eQ4o8Pk
also literally just put the video in full screen and stare at the white square up close and notice how all the AI filled shit looks fine when you do
This is way too hyped up. I can't imagine how annoying it would be with AI artifacts.
it's already a thing
it's not a thing and nvidia literally did a study with different foveation techniques that showed temporally unstable ones are the least forgiving in artifact detection
https://research.nvidia.com/sites/default/files/pubs/2017-09_Latency-Requirements-for/a25-albert.pdf
it's not done because VR games are made by amateurs and small studios and engines like unreal 5 don't support eye tracked foveated rendering and even when foveated rendering is done it's done in a dumb way instead of doing fancy AI shit
>engines like unreal 5 don't support eye tracked foveated rendering
It does
Praydogs mod even lets you use it with his injector
I genuinely don't understand how people enjoy VR porn, it's just as static as regular porn with 0 interactivity anyway
Even games like virt-a-mate are just glorified scene viewers where you can barely interact with the scene without breaking it, you don't even have a full VR body
The only VR game that has halfway decent sex is VRchat and that's because you have to e-hump actual people, but you need FBT for that in the first place so the cost of entry is 2-3x the actual headset itself
The best use I found for VR was unironically just watching movies
I agree but surely the 3D effect makes it pop
This
. I just watched Emily Bloom dance naked for me and everytime she gets closer, with the 3D, it makes me shudder. ALMOST came (it was just a fifteen minute video).
This is why mixed reality porn will be the true upgrade. Virtually Map your wifu on to some physical robotic doll
veronica leal shoving her cute butthole into my face makes me cum instantly, normal porn can't compete
The Vision Pro is literally changing lives and you say VR is just a gimmick.
You can get a used Quest 2 for $130~.
Ok boys. I am interested. However, used Quest 2 is still like $230 on Amazon.
For quest 2 go used. Facebook marketplace. If you're Paying more than 120$ you're paying to much and should put that towards a pc or quest 3 instead
Would you buy one that probably reeks of cigarette smoke? You'd probably have to replace the facepad too.
Psvr 1 was broken. Quest isn't. Especially paired with a pc. Grab you a quest 2 for like 100$ used off Facebook marketplace
Better options don't start under 1500
yeah I might as well get a quest 3 since a quest 4 is probably at least a year away, but just better passthrough and eye tracking would be huge upgrades
Quest 4 sounds like 2-3 years (5 before avp raised the bar on screen res) quest 3 lite is said won't have color passthrough but most importantly it won't have pancake lenses so no reason to wait on that. Thats maybe a year. It wouldn't surprise me if they try to reboot a new pro but again it would be in the 1500-2k+ range
why's it so far away?
THIS fricking thread every day. VR shills need to give up already. It is not happening. You wasted your money. Stop coping about it on the internet.
then what's your problem?
lmao, sounds like you're trying to prove something to yourself more than anyone else
2d skybox porn is the paul ruben experience, highly recommended
Upgraded from Q1 to Q3 and the jump was really good. Makes me excited for what we will get in another 5 years.
oled, god willing
how's that btw
>how's that btw
the Q3, the video or OLED?
Get it for the porn and then any time spent playing games is a bonus
Gimmick right now, might be worth it in the future
It's not gonna get much better
we've been saying this for 5 years
Hell I’ve been saying it for 11 and I love VR
what are the killer apps/games I would have to get into in order to spend more than 5 minutes with VR?
Beatsaber is good cardio and fun
If you want a long form experience, Half Life Alyx is the GOAT
Boneworks, Pavlov and SkyboxVR
Walking dead saints and sinners and Breachers probably my biggest replays. Endless dungeon potentially, much more likely if you have friends to game with. Haven’t played legendary tales or Asgard’s wrath yet but they look really promising for long playthroughs. Skyrim and Fallout 4 VR got more time out of me than they did flat. Elite dangerous also very comfy and fun while being unplayable flat (for me)
Gimmick/10
VR is for porn not gaming
