always be sneaking
beta blockers are underrated
space bar is your best friend when fighting zombies
pick a home base as soon as you start and work on clearing the surrounding area and stocking your base
take traits like smoker, underweight, and fear of blood so you can take traits like strong and athletic
Id vote dying light 1 as best zombie survival game if it wasnt for the abysmal narrative.
Unfortunate for dying light 2 it just got worse in every way.
Did you play both games?
Theres so many points to discuss how its worse, but there are some major ones.
Physics in 2 are just so much more forgiving and *gamey*. Infected are now parkour legends with their own invisible walls to protect them from fall damage and their own inertia.
Parkour suffers from the physics gamification as much as infected. "floaty" is often the word used to describe it as you seemingly defy the worlds physics when convenient. Instead of fleshing it out they went with typical para-glider nonsense.
Zombies themselves have been made far less dense, half are sleeping, and what remains of in world waking infected are cut with variants every few square meters that completely undermine what makes them special.
>the greatest zombie survival game ever released
The game is chronically unfinished. There is quite literally nothing to do after you have established a base, except maybe farm for perpetuity. There are no NPCs, no quests, no end game and no challenges other deliberately endangering yourself for some lols. It is barebones as frick and will probably never be finished, because the developers are greedy and lazy.
Its quite literally insane. There are numerous features that need to be fixed and fleshed out and the devs decide that being able to mix soda and sugar in a bottle is far more important. Madness. Meanwhile zombies have not received a substantial update in a long forever or things like sneaking being left to rot. Weekly blogs became biweekly to monthly. At this point, theyre going to switch to bimonthly blogs because writing a couple of paragraphs takes all day apparently and really really stresses out the team :'(
There are so many moronic things in it that are inconvenient. Adding all those features for immersion and realism doesn't matter when the game is not fun to play. The dev didn't prioritize his pipeline properly that is why it will be never finished. The game has fundamental issues as some other anons already pointed out. There is no incentive to make players use all these features since the game doesn't have quests, real challenges, no npcs etc etc. It's an inflated balloon that is about to pop up.

It's pretty great on realism and scavenging, I just wish the combat was a bit more fun, maybe it's better that it isn't great, so it doesn't pull attention from the sneaky survival type of gameplay. Whiffing hits for no reason, multi-hit being default off for every weapon is kinda silly in a horde game. and Sprinters are just insane, if you attract 2 of them it's like a 95% chance of death. It's been a fun 100 hours or so, but I don't really see myself coming back until a big update.
The game would actually improve if it was autism sim. All the features of the game look complex but are very shallow and surface level. The only feature that will be autism sim will be the crafting shit coming in b42.
>Autism
It's an IQ test anon. You don't need to be autistic to play ASCII games. You need to not be moronic and to have a moderate capacity for pattern recognition and memory.
Even so, there are plenty of rich tilesets for CDDA
>You don't need to be autistic to play ASCII games.
You kinda do since a person's time is finite and normies would rather play games without a high learning curve that immediately reward them with actual graphics
>i am dumb just because i am not intuitively leaning towards interests with repetitive patterns
You sperg moron.

Yes you are dumb.
It's not "any kind of learning curve" that's the problem, it's that in the eyes of most people ASCII games don't even meet the threshold in terms of graphics to even be considered a game, so they don't bother when there's plenty to choose from. I'm not above playing ugly eurojank, and I even sunk 200+ hours into Kenshi, but even I have standards.

Kenshi is barely a flex these days. It peters out unless you love badly micromanaging your base. Playing as a gigachad gets similarly boring. Slave start is best start.

I remember the first time I tried farming in this game >find potato seeds >plant all of them >get tons of potatoes >and I mean TONS of potatoes >had more than enough to feed myself, set some aside as bait for traps >the remaining 90% of the yield went into a compost bin to make fertilizer for even more potatoes
Farming doesn't trivialize the entire game, sure, but it still feels rather dirty
IMO Rimworld is different enough but better than Dorf Fort in so many ways. DF may have had the edge back in 1.0 but the expansions and mods brought Rimworld to a whole new level
>biggest complaint is that the game is boring after the hobo run early game looting phase where you just watch green bar fill up in your base >devs decide to base an entire update around watching green bar fill up in your base
LMAO
The crafting overhaul is going to add a ton of new gameplay mechanics + depth, and it’s launching alongside animal NPCs. That’s going to give modders so much fuel to work with that the game will be insanely fresh up until they get to the full NPC update
Alright enough shitposting from me.
My real thoughts on this game can be summed up in two words. Missed potential. There's so much in this game that's almost good and almost fun but it's killed by not being fleshed out. The lack of any real depth besides the crafting autism is seriously hampering the game.
I just installed it, any tips for first timer? Im playing solo
don't run, sneak around the zombies
Get a gun ASAP and stop using melee at all. Guns are just better. Melee sucks in this game.
Use guns only for every enconter.
If you got bored then try some multiplayer servers with fresh wipe, i had 200+hr in this game and i only played 5hr solo
Multiplayer is the only upside of Zomboid, and it turns kind of into a zombie-themed Sims game.

turn off zombie respawn or adjust the zombie spawns to seen cells to like a week or something
2nd floor
play with mods, i'm not even joking
>Released
What universe are you living in, we're 8 years late on NPCs
what are you smoking? i can buy it and play it right now with thousands of mods available to download.
CDDA.
Based CDDA enjoyers. Zomboid plebes would never survive.
>Zomboid plebes would never survive.
You're right, I'd die of fricking boredom after about an hour because CDDA has ludicrously bad scaling.
Both these games are shit because the devs artistically focus on feature creep than actually making them fun.
Filtered.
Greatest? maybe.
Actually good? No.
Id vote dying light 1 as best zombie survival game if it wasnt for the abysmal narrative.
Unfortunate for dying light 2 it just got worse in every way.
>Dying Light 2 is worse
How so, I was under the impression that the gameplay remained top notch.
Did you play both games?

I was planning on getting 2 on a sale since I heard they improved the game substantially through patches.
Improved since release no doubt, but the game is still worse than 1.
Just pirate it and play with all the DLC gear.
let's discuss CDDA
>favourite weapon?
>favourite start?

As is the way with all EA games.
yea thats why i only really play multiplayer or modded maps now.

i tried playing it and it just seems kinda lame tbh
I was surprised deck was able to run zomboid with 100+ mods on multiplayer.

You can't even build your own deathmobile or become a cyborg how can it be an autism sim.
>build your own deathmobile or become a cyborg
there's probably 10 different workshop mods that do these things
not to the scope of CDDA tho
CDDA looks like this.
Not the fun kind of autism.
Yes, and?
It's lame.
Typical low IQ response.
>He's too moronic to use tilesets
>He's too moronic to adapt to ASCII
No helping plebes.

What’s the problem?
Have they made any progress in what? The last 2 or 3 years?
If you can't play ASCII games you are basically subhuman.
Sorry, I don't make the rules!
This is not the fun kind of autism.

I learned to play ASCII games while playing ADOM in a DOS window during a summer internship. You are simply a dummy.

Kek. Not going to play your bad looking game.
Your loss. It's only the greatest zombie survival game ever made.
>your loss
Not really because I'll be playing HoMM3 a game with objectively good graphics and gameply. Not some autists hipsternerd idea of graphics.
HOMM was solved at least 20 years ago. This isn't a flex.
Thats last of us part 2

Zomboid is still shallow trash and CDDA rules.

My thoughts of this game can be summed up in 4 letters: CDDA
tsmt
It's not released. It's still early access.
has the pottery patch dropped yet i wanna make vases already
Nope, probably not until early-mid 2025. Devs said late 2024 but i don't believe them
