Best part about this game is when they reference it in Twinsanity

Way too many vehicle segments, but it feels like that is because they looked at 3 as the gold standard and decided to go hard on that angle. It's still weaker than the original games, but it's not as bad as Enter the Dragonfly at least.

I fricking hate the bosses and the underwater sections but it was my first PS2 Crash and I have many hours playing it.It also doesn't help that I was so fricking poor that I couldn't have money for a memory card and had to finish every game in one sitting,God of War included

based nosavesgay, i did something similar, but with overwriting my finished savefile multiple times because the game was in a language i couldn't read

      >Enter the Dragonfly
I remember a guy made a few videos talking about why that game was so shit. He tracked down people who worked on it and talked to some of them. I wish I could find them again. It's a miracle that game exists at all.

I'm really partial to the main theme since it's a nostalgic memory thing for me. I would play the game with my dad when I was young so the main theme triggers that memory

A solid pick. It's a real good first introduction to the game, plus that segment that comes up about a minute in is real damn good
for me it has to be Banzai Bonsai, which i totally didn't forget to link in my previous post

              Better and IAT, no contest
              >Tfw IAT dethroned DK64 as the best example of how not to do a collectaton

i feel IAT tried to combine how open Twinsanity was, with a linear Crash experience, and then promptly messed it up by catering to people who have nothing better to do then spend 4x the amount of time they should in a level to beat it fully.

I enjoyed it, but it was definitely worse than 2 and 3.
Loading times on PS2 were really fricking annoying.

Gamecube version is the worst one. While it doesn't have the loading times from PS2 version, it has the worst graphics and performance of the three versions. Very lazy port. Xbox version is the best one.

Yeah at least this game performs to an acceptable degree. The issue is that it's a mediocre followup.
Spyro struggles to even run properly without imploding on itself.

Enter the Dragonfly was developed by two teams: Equinoxe (who did the graphics) and Check Six Games (who did the programming and game design). Equinoxe had some previous experience as a team, but Check Six had none whatsoever. Dragonfly was designed and programmed by newbies.

Wrath of Cortex was made entirely by Traveller's Tales, who had plenty of experience making 3D games for Saturn, PS1, N64 and Dreamcast. WoC was their first game for PS2, Xbox and Gamecube.

It's okay. Soundtrack is great. That being said, what is up with the level placements in each hub? This game's theme revolves around the elements (Earth, Water, Fire, Air) yet most of the levels in each hub are out of place save for the Water hub.
    >Earth hub has 3 non-Earth levels (snow level, castle with fire hazards, tornado alley)
    >Fire hub has 3 non-Fire levels (tsunami with Coco, snow level in hamster ball, desert race with cracks in the earth)
    >Air hub has 3 non-Air levels (underwater level, space mission, mech mission)
What is the final hub even supposed to be? A space hub that involves infiltrating Cortex's armada of space stations? It's all a mess.

They tried to order them by difficulty, tornado alley makes more sense in hub 4 but it's way too easy to be placed that late.

Wrath of Cortex was reviled for its jankiness. Twinsanity was beloved in spite of its jankiness. It just goes to show that passion and soul can fill in for a lot of faults.

It's decent. It's kinda like 3 but arguably better. 1 and 2 are by far the best and 3 and wrath are kind-of spin-offs as they're far too memey and different (bloated with dumb vehicle shit)

I'm still amazed someone went out of their way to make a full documentary talking about how shit the development for that game was and how rushed it was in order to meet holiday deadlines. I feel like in a perfect world, it would've had 25+ feels like they wanted, but would still overall have weak level design and arguably still pretty awful performance issues that plagued a lot of multi platform titles of that era.

It's okay, think the kids would call it "mid". It's not bad enough for people to get a kick out of shitting on it and it's not good enough for people to see it as a series highlight. It's Crash 3 again but not as good.
