>dude just redraw the same poses 4 times
What do you want him to do? Inject some forced-soul into the comic by having everyone be overly mobile? >hurr durr my hands are in 4 different places just because
nah it's fine
if the gameplay requires a space the size of a football field and the artist designs a tiny kitchen, that is entirely the failure of the artist
which isn't surprising considering everything else about this worm
Yeah, scaling of the environment itself and objects within the environment. You have to balance your art style with navigability, sight lines, etc. John Blow has a really good rant about bridges in relation to this. I also notice a lot with non-person sized large objects like shipping containers.
metrics is your gameplay stats from testers
i.e. the ability for the morons to correctly interpret where they need to go
nav is probably also related to tester data rather than NPC programming
i.e. yellow paint
concept artist makes concept
basks in its glory
gameplay artist gets a hold of it
programmer gets a hold of it
testers get a hold of it
guess what they do to the concept art?
hint: it involves big knives
I don't get this guy, period. Didn't he only kind of work on one game anyway? It's like a dude that once served food on a plane and now he constantly rants about the airline industry.
looking through his artstation, there's only work from one actually released game yeah. He doesn't do bad concept art but it's all photobashing and painting, kind of the opposite end of the art spectrum from cartoony webcomics. which might explain the awful style
there are a lot of projects that just die in production hell or get locked under nda for years. i remember david levy talking about how he was a concept artist for like 10 years before any of the projects he worked on actually managed to ship
Reminds me of the daiper fur troony that self inserts as a kid, same ugly bug eyed newpaper comic style. I can't believe I'm saying this, but I'd rather look at Dobson's art than this.
A lot of people stay with what they know. People follow the path in front of them more often than not. Saying everyone is smart enough to value their time or else they really love what they do is VERY specious.
buy an ad.
That's because you morons aren't game devs like him.
mmm yup
fpbp /thread all fields and Black personrape OP
I don't get why hes an artist at all if he just draws the same static pose once and reuses it four fricking times.
hey, it's worked for newspapers for like 2 centuries and for webcomics for a few decades as well
You're just entitled, he is a poor starving developer and has to cut corners to make it in this tough business.
>dude just redraw the same poses 4 times

dilate
Loss?
I II
II I __
whoa wait a minute...you mean to tell me...people can't make levels look exactly like the concept art!?!?!
im guessing nav means npcs gotta be able to walk around without getting stuck
but wtf is metrics
probably scaling
oh yeah i bet you're right
if the gameplay requires a space the size of a football field and the artist designs a tiny kitchen, that is entirely the failure of the artist
which isn't surprising considering everything else about this worm
most of the time preproduction is going on before anyone even tells the artists what the gameplay is going to be like

yeah bro they TOTALLY have playtesting metrics at the concept art stage
this isn't ragebait
concept artist makes concept
basks in its glory
gameplay artist gets a hold of it
programmer gets a hold of it
testers get a hold of it
guess what they do to the concept art?

He's the Phil Fish of this one field in my eyes. Do one thing worth talking about and then kvetching non-stop.
looking through his artstation, there's only work from one actually released game yeah. He doesn't do bad concept art but it's all photobashing and painting, kind of the opposite end of the art spectrum from cartoony webcomics. which might explain the awful style
Dollar store blacklight.

Is this guy like if dobson and phil fish had a baby?
Last time he made the thread he still used 3000x3000 pixels for his image size, imagine thinking your shit art deserves that big of a size.
I doubt he makes threads on here lol like why would he even come here
This guy is like Dobson but for gamedev and somehow even less funny
Ahem
Lisa should get that hand checked out.
Reminds me of the daiper fur troony that self inserts as a kid, same ugly bug eyed newpaper comic style. I can't believe I'm saying this, but I'd rather look at Dobson's art than this.
Make something worth respecting
Problem is nobody loves what they do for a job. It's just a paycheck, and if it isn't, they just haven't been at it long enough.
why on earth would you do a job with as low of a pay to workload ratio as gamedev purely for the money?
A lot of people stay with what they know. People follow the path in front of them more often than not. Saying everyone is smart enough to value their time or else they really love what they do is VERY specious.
They make games for money
I play games for pleasure
Pleasure>money
I honestly can't decide if this guy legitimately thinks he's making a good comic or if its all just rage bait shit to get engagement.
you can definitely tell that the artist of this webcomic enjoys the smell of his own farts.
what games is this shitheel even responsible for. if this comic is any indication its probably fricking terrible
