The album, not the song.
They peaked with Number of the Beast anyways, they still made great songs afterwards but NOTB is one of those great albums you can listen in their entirety without skipping a song and still enjoy it.
Powerslave was close but they had to put that shitty instrumental track.
I will never get the NOTB hype. Sure it's got a bunch of all-time classics, but it fricking opens with Invaders, a song so bad they never played it live and opened with Murders in the Rue Morgue on the tour instead. Not to mention Gangland which is literally missing a guitar solo because they forgot to record it, not that it would save the song.
Yup, every one of the classic albums has at least one stinker. But everything up to prayer/fear is pretty damn good. Then it gets spotty, with BNW and life and death being pretty good too, but the last 3 albums have been great. Overall pretty fricking amazing for 44 years of music.
I actually think Seventh Son and SiT are two albums where I wouldn't remove anything. Some tracks aren't as strong as others, and I feel like Seventh Son particularly suffers from the live versions superseding the originals, but there's no Quest for Fire or Gangland on them either.
The reunion era is of course a different beast entirely, I feel like it's mostly all at the very least listenable, but then you also have the lesser tracks on Dance of Death and a few from the last three I can't stand at all. But then AMOLAD for example, it's fine the way it is. Even if it's lengthy and it's almost all in E, it still has that flow to it.
NOTB is deeply flawed and even Harris admits he fricked up the tracklisting and should have included some songs he cut while cutting some of the songs he included.
Now Somehwere in Time and Seventh Son, those are perfect.
NOTB is Overated as frick. Half the songs suck ass while the rest are some of their best, but that's not enough to make the album their best. Killers and somewhere in time is their best.
How are they STILL putting out solid tracks, it's insane. Same with Megadeth and Judas Priest, the new stuff isn't all-time hit material but it's pretty fricking solid.
This was the only CD I had in my shitty old SUV and I listened to it probably 500 times throughout high school and college. Kino record (a bit too long though.) Ghost of the Navigator is an all time great
*blocks your path* >OI BRUV >BEST CHANGE YE VIDEO GAME NAME TO SUMTHIN OTHA THAN ION MAIDEN I RECKON >YE WE GOTS A TELEPHONE VIDEO GAME AN WE DON WUN NOBODY MISTAKEN IT
How do you respond without sounding mad?
I have a cheaply animated anime battle with them where i am represented as eddie (the good guy) and they are represented as fat greedy corporation men (the bad guy)
The Final Frontier is meh, The Book of Souls has some good tracks in it but the band's age is very noticeable - it's not just Bruce not being able to produce notes he previously could, as far as I'm concerned DotD is the last album that has actual, listenable solos
>hasn't dropped a note of good music after 2000 >still chugging along
can't seethe enough about the lack of consequence for pathetic hackery in various entertainment industries these days
fanbases are the worst thing to ever happen
>if this got re-released for pc from Nightdive now, it'd be about the same amount of time between since it was launched as System Shock 2 was when Nightdive re-released it
This album only has 2 good songs and is way worse than No prayer for the dying
a bad Iron Maiden album is like a bad day of fishing
So... boring?
><
I saw this thread while listening to Where Eagles Dare
Fear of the dark has a bad rep?

>modern AAA dev bloat
Piece of Mind - 7th Son + the post reunion albums are all better than Beast
Half of NotB is garbage, their self titled and Powerslave re both much better.
NOTB is deeply flawed and even Harris admits he fricked up the tracklisting and should have included some songs he cut while cutting some of the songs he included.
Now Somehwere in Time and Seventh Son, those are perfect.
Also, pic related is peak Bruce.
I wish he shortened Jerusalem, it should've ended at 5:50
This was his best song imo:
jerusalem should be the english national anthem instead of the one they have, it's way cooler
>The Chemical Wedding
Dangerously based

>title track is so good that it makes up for how shit the rest of album was
Dragon's Dogma 2.
How are they STILL putting out solid tracks, it's insane. Same with Megadeth and Judas Priest, the new stuff isn't all-time hit material but it's pretty fricking solid.
>Megadeth
I still don't know how to master the five magics in order to defeat the abyss lord.
You need the tornado of souls skill in order to defeat the abyss lord. You can get it in the Hangar 18.
>Game gets unfairly shit on because it's not the same as previous entries

Careful getting off the milk crate Bruce
I have a cheaply animated anime battle with them where i am represented as eddie (the good guy) and they are represented as fat greedy corporation men (the bad guy)
Still better than senjutsu or whatever other crap they released after brave new world
The writing on the wall is great tho
What about this?
Matter of Life and Death is their best game anon
You got to be quick or be dead
Now that I look at it closer, the album cover looks like an AI generated image jej
I don't expect anyone to agree with my list.
Bruce's solo career was great, Accident of Birth (album) is a masterpiece, but when he and Adrian got back to IM it all went to hell.
You are missing out on 2 out of the 3 albums you didn't give a chance. I think Book of the Souls is forgettable at best, however.
The Final Frontier is meh, The Book of Souls has some good tracks in it but the band's age is very noticeable - it's not just Bruce not being able to produce notes he previously could, as far as I'm concerned DotD is the last album that has actual, listenable solos

I remember having a big ass banner in my room of this album. I just thought it looked cool and never actually listened to this album.
Oh wait no, that's fear of the dark. Frick no I did listen to this GOAT.
Though it was the ones that came after because OP is baiting.

>old-guard studio known in modern day for soulless and contractually-obligated rehashes produces a great game
