I actually chose it because prefer the tragic ending of a hero banishing themselves to a frozen void so their people can carve their own path, for better or for worse. It's a direct continuation of my tendency to pick the endings which erase divine influence in SMT games, with all the good and bad that entails.

In the beginning there was only the One Great, then the Greater Will sent his star in the Lands Between and that stimulated the creation of multiple lifeforms, some of them chaotic in nature.
Shabriri, Hyetta and the Three Fingers want the world to go back to its original primordial state.

Oh, and by that I mean a return to the unstimulated One Great.

Lmao no, they want to destroy everything. The 'One Great' horseshit is headcanon. Only Hyetta references it.
                >"The words of the Three Fingers. As your maiden, allow me to divine them. All that there is came from the One Great. Then came fractures, and births, and souls. But the Greater Will made a mistake. Torment, despair, affliction... every sin, every curse. Every one, born of the mistake. And so, what was borrowed must be returned. Melt it all away, with the yellow chaos flame. Until all is One again."
                >b-bro what do you meaaaaaaan, why would the Three Fingers (who have literally every reason in the world to lie and do in fact lie to you on several occasions to coerce you to destroy everything) ever lie to you about anything?
                >"Those who gave me grapes howled without words. Saying they wished they were never born. Become their lord. Take their torment, despair. Their affliction. Every sin, every curse. And melt it all away. As the Lord of Chaos. No more fractures...no more birth"
Hmmmmm, doesn't really sound like they plan on rebirthing anything at all! Not even this 'One Great' you keep rambling about!
                >"Seek audience with the Three Fingers and the flame of frenzy. If you inherit the flame of frenzy, your flesh will serve as kindling and the girl can be spared ...setting you on the righteous path of lordship."
Hmmmm, rather convenient that Shabriri lies to you about the reason to inherit the Flame of Frenzy. Why wouldn't he just be honest about it?
                >"You are about to sacrifice something precious. The life of a fair maiden, that you would toss into the fiery forge. Only so that you may be Lord. What a horrible thing to ponder. Your ascendency requires her sacrifice, whether she wishes it or not. But how would the Lord, crowned so, be looked upon?"
Wow, why is Shabriri so concerned about one girl's life when it's pretty obvious that the Frenzied Flame ending kills LITERALLY everyone? Oh! Maybe it's because he's lying! Shocking!

Where did that anon say they planned on rebirthing anyone? The original state is a singular nothingness with no life, Hyetta makes that pretty clear to you and tells you outright that the Three Fingers believe life is a mistake. I'm genuinely confused what you're arguing about, that the GW didn't create life and the One Great doesn't exist? The One Great is literally just the Monad, it's not that deep

the one great isnt a deity, its the name of the singular being that used to exist in the world of elden ring before it fractured into every living creature, god and mortal. melting the entire world into living flaming primordial soup is restoring the one great by definition.

                >More chaos Black person fanfiction
It's hilarious. You morons are literally only capable of reading one line from Hyetta and using it to willfully misinterpret everything else in the game that contradicts it. It's not like the Three Fingers would lie to you, after all!

What exactly contradicts what's being said here? And like I said we know the Three Fingers don't lie to you because what they want to happen is exactly what happens when you do the FF ending: all life is incinerated and returned to a primordial nothingness. Are you coping about how the GW is a space parasite or whatever? Because why would the Three Fingers give credence towards it then, it'd be like Satan telling a non-believer that God is actually totally legit and that He created your existence. You're whining anout misinterpretations but not even trying to argue what's being misintrepreted.

Headcanon that life before the Greater Will was 'primordial nothingness'. Several items about the Crucible directly contradict Hyetta. Why are you making shit up, you dumb Black person?

How does the Crucible contradict Hyetta? Like when the GW sent the Elden Beast it arrived on a Golden Star, seems pretty plausible that the star would grow into the Crucible, especially with how it's described as a red gold color i.e. the Elden Ring before destined death is removed

Maybe it's not exactly going to the origin of the world but that wasn't my point.
The beginning of this specific discussion was about whether the Frenzy ending could be considered chaotic or not and I added to that conversation the fact that in the past the Crucible itself, stimulated by the Greater Will, spawned ''chaotic'' life.

Most of the sorceries in the game come from Glintstone, the crystallized vitality of the stars. It's like a science to these people. They research the stars, study glintstone manipulation and learn how to recreate cosmic shit in the form of spells.

The sorceries that require faith are the only ones seemingly linked to deities, except maybe Abbarant sorceries which use ones own blood. Magma for example uses the power of Mt. Gelmir's magma mixed with faith in the devouring serpent. Death Sorceries seem to use peoples souls mixed with faith in the unnamed death god.

The black moon and the Dark Moon are the same thing, a dark/black moon that commands the stars and is worshiped in conjunction with an Age of Stars. Ranni's god and Nokron's god are the same entity, and that god is likely to force Ranni to restore Nokron or to otherwise just eat the planet. It already looks like a black hole devouring a moon, and the Nox who worshiped it invented spells like Eternal Darkness, a black hole that devours spells -- and being an orb that tries to nullify spells is already a trait seen with Rennala and Ranni's moon spells. The Carians were conned by the stars from the start.

Nokron is also the shorthand term for the entire civilization of the Eternal City, and the Eternal City was buried underground precisely because of Nokron's Fingerslayer Blade being made and used. The black moon isn't "missing", the Nox were literally cut off from it because they can't see the real sky anymore.

The Dark Moon commands the stars, Ranni even needs Radahn dead to make the stars move again and give her a "fate" to string along her plan. The Nox even used the same Starlight Shards potions that Seluvis does to make "dolls" as slaves. We find Nox "doll" summons in Nokron, showing the practice and the slavery by the stars still existed.

Moon of Nokstella notes that the Dark Moon guided the stars, the same stars the Nox worshiped for their anticipated Age of Stars and Lord of Night (see all three Nox set descriptions), and the celestial Dew notes that the stars guide "fate", so the Dark Moon controlled them like they control people. A Nox Swordstress is also depicted as a statue in the Church of Vows, showing that there was indeed a faith and that the Dark Moon is an outer god, in addition to the Moonlight Altar. The Nightmaiden & Swordstress Puppets reveal that the Nox are a "cold-blooded race", tying in the night to the cold and thereby a link to Ranni's snow witch mentor, who taught her to fear the Dark Moon (ex: Glintstone Icecrag). Furthermore, Ranni's wedding ring tied to her being an empyrean is called the Dark Moon Ring, and we see a similar ring used for ritual purposes with Mohg and Miquella. Ranni has a ring tied to her empyrean status and linked to the Dark Moon, and Mohg likewise has/fashioned a ring for the empyrean Miquella and the Formless Mother outer god. Dark sorceries are also tied to the Eternal City, as noted in Eternal Darkness' description, and Sellia, which mainly excavates and researches the Eternal City, developed Night Sorceries.

Goldmask's ending probably wipes out Marika entirely, she's just a crumbling chunk of stone after the Mending Rune of Perfect Order is applied. Heck, Marika might even be de facto wrecked in each ending, and is only still around with the Elden Ring akin to Enia sticking around for Remembrance gear.

not really, because man is still beholden to the golden order, and nobody really knows what goldmask's "ideal" order is. ranni's ending does the "frick off and let humanity figure it out themselves" bit better, since she yoinks the order away from the world in it's entirety.

        I don't think it's a good ending, it's more akin to a ''normal'' ending.
No more vassal God caprices but still under the influence of the Greater Will.

        >Godwin - apparently healthy, no info
        >Omen creaturas who are even more mentaly deformed than physically twisted, one is boy molesting eldritch abomination cult leader, other is just Uncle Ruckus homage.

        >Unclear number (7, maybe more) of what became headless corpses in mausoleums
Most cursed womb in lands between, no contest. If Godwin actually was normal he was just very lucky.

        >>Omen creaturas who are even more mentaly deformed
Because they were mistreated for life, obviously.
The twins' back luck came from the Outer Gods' influence, so not her fault.

Because almost from the beginning Marika subconsciously and then consciously wanted to unmake her own divinity, and that will was carried into the conceiving of her children, most of which were born with various kinds of powers that could be used to usurp the golden order.

I don't think they squandered anything.
Malenia messed up only at the end of the Shattering war while Miquella didn't really do anything wrong (other than having poor security in his base).

          Anonymous

Malenia went on a world tour just to prove she was the baddest b***h, and in the process not only got her dumbass put in a coma, she lost most of her knights, ruined a decent chunk of the lands between, and got her brother kidnapped. Miquella had such broken charisma powers that he could have literally ended the shattering wars or even prevented it from happening in the first place, but instead he sits in his room playing minecraft until he was abducted by the lavender mafia.

            Anonymous

you've got the order of events wrong. mohg kidnaps miquella, malenia nearly marches the entire surface of TLB looking for him, makes godrick kiss her shoes, and then goes all out against radahn, reducing him to a husk of his former self, and trots back to the tree, trying to contain herself so she can leave again.

              Anonymous

If she was just looking for Miquella she would not have brought her whole army and had no reason to fight Radahn. It's also not reasonable that Mohg would have been able to steal Miquella back when the Haligtree military was at full strength and while Malenia was still there.

            > Miquella had such broken charisma powers that he could have literally ended the shattering wars or even prevented it from happening in the first place
That's just what you personally think, don't take steps longer than your legs.
He pushed through with the Haligtree plan because that one could've not only stopped the war but also created a true new order.
But in the end he failed, like everyone else.

              >That's just what you personally think,
Miquella was so compelling that his army makes Leyendell's look like a fricking joke. So compelling that he managed to accidentally bring a heretical cult to a screeching halt by being more appealing to his demon half brother than the actual god that plucked him from the sewers. He was just more interested in theological experiments than he was in actually fixing the REAL problem with the lands between, which was that everyone in charge of it were a bunch of stupid buttholes.

            >why is the beast clergyman still alive after killing malekith
Because time is fricky in Farum Azula. Farum Azula was hit with the elden star but the dragons used their time powers to freeze the ruins in place (similarly to how Vivec froze the asteroid that was going to hit red mountain). When you fight through Farum Azula and eventually challenge and kill Maliketh, it's later in time from his perspective.
            >we still have no answer as to why marika actually shattered the elden ring
She's mad buttmad about how her ability to have a normal life and family was ruined by her decision to become host to the ring to begin with. What pushed her over the edge was the death of her firstborn son, but the resentment had been growing for a long time.
            >why does rennala help us after we almost kill her
Radagon rotted her brain and she literally doesn't even remember that you attacked her.
            >why does ranni not kill us after almost killing her mother (she even had to intervene to stop us)
The spell that Ranni placed to protect her mom was likely laid long ago, she probably doesn't even know that it went off. That's also why Ranni can just instantly kill you but the Rennala moon battle isn't that tough
            >why didn't marika just kill the last fire giant instead of having it sustain the only thing that could burn down the erdtree
Because she intended even back then for the erdtree to be destroyed
            >why is there multiple lansseax?
There isn't. If you fight her the first time she runs away before dying. If you're asking why all the ancient dragons look the same, well you're just being racist.

The Elden Star? That happened at the beginning of time.

You're assuming that the elden star was the first time that the greater will intervened in the lands between. It wasn't. After all, the crucible predates the erd tree, and that too was of the Greater Will. Was that the first time? Who knows, but I doubt it.

                Anonymous

Why wouldn't it be? The Elden Ring is the source of the GWs power in the world. What is written in it is the law. It makes sense that the whole "shattering of the one great" was the elden ring defining it as different things.

Plus, the Erdtree seems to be something of Marika's design, a repurposing of the Crucible, as the tree did not become a thing until Marika became a thing. There is also the fact that the tree is reborn once you restore the ring meaning that the crucible may change forms depending on what the ring dictates.

                Anonymous

The elden ring may have been destroyed or lost and needed a replacement. I don't particularly agree with the idea that the erd tree is just a reshaped crucible for a few reasons:
                1. While they share a common spiritual theme (the recycling of life), they do so in completely contrary ways, the crucible mixes life together into new forms as if various ingredients poured into a mold, while the erd tree collects life into itself and then blooms new life from the collected bodies and gold.
                2. The erd tree is fundamentally vulnerable to fire, while the crucible, at least presumably, would be powered by fire
                3. The crucible knights still have their powers and creatures touched by the crucible like misbegotten and omens were still being born well after the erd tree existed, implying that the crucible itself still exists to some extent.

                >Crucible powered by fire
                ???
The Crucible Knights wear Red-gold armor, a reference to primitive gold metallurgy before methods of purifying the metal came to be. The Erdtree is golden and is implied to be the same thing or having dominion over the crucible. This is why Crucible incantations are also Erdtree Incantations. They are one and the same, the tree has just become this refined entity that no longer muddles life together.

Marika's world is all about manipulating living things, it's why the outer gods that have distinct differences are opposed to the Golden order, such as the rot gods concept of life being a fleeting, changing thing of death, decay and new birth; or the Twin Bird's concept turning the death into a power source for the living.

Plus, the Ruins Greatsword is imbued with gravity magic implying something like a massive Fallen Star Beast shattered the city. It's time lock is probably inspired by event horizons since gravity magic is spacial warping magic.

            >why is the beast clergyman still alive after killing malekith
If you're asking why all the ancient dragons look the same, well you're just being racist.

            >who is godefroy and why is he identical to godrick even down to his grafted bodyparts?
There is no good lore explanation for this, it's just blatant lazy design. The implication is that Godrick was not the person who invented grafting but that he learned it by studying the work of one of his ancestors, "Godefroy", but there's absolutely nor reason they should look identical, if anything they should look radically different other than their hair.
            >why does mohg have an inexplicable body double underneath leyndell and how does morgott not know about it?
Morgott and Mohg can both create weird spirit projections to do stuff without having to physically be there, the Mohg under Leyendell is his version of Margit. Morgott probably DOES know he's down there, as Morgott's seal is behind the secret exit to fake-Mohg's boss room, and Morgott does not list Mohg as a traitor to the golden order. It may also be that Morgott incorrectly believes the phantom Mohg to be the real Mohg, still living in the sewers.
            >why is there a ghost of godfrey in leyndell?
A spell by Morgott to make sure that nobody could just walk up the stairs and see that King Morgott is actually an omen.
            >why are omen's shunned but crucible knights, who manifest similar body parts aren't?
Because the golden order is fricking stupid and does not understand what the actual purpose of the erd tree is. They see that omens look weird and assume they must be heretical aberrations for literally no theologically sound reason.

            >Why is Beast Clergyman still Alive after Killing Malekith
They were probably too lazy to include a ghost option. It may have always been a projection though considering Malekith was banished to Farum Azula.
The entire beast temple is out of the ordinary for the area anyway, it's unironically Farum Azula Architecture.
            >We still have no answers as to why Marika shattered the Elden Ring
            Yes.
            >Why does Rennala help us
She's mind broken and the first part of the fight was her students trying to kill you while she mindlessly transforms them into weapons.
            >Why did Marika keep the last Fire Giant around
The flame was eternal, she needed something to make sure it behaved.
            >Why is their multiple Lansseax
Just other Ancient Dragons. I guess you're nitpicking because they use her signature move?
            >Who is Goedfroy
Another member of the Golden Lineage that practiced Grafting but got taken out.
            >Why does Mohg have a double
An omen illusion to maintain a connection to his Omen loyalists. He'll save them when his Dynasty is formed, they could not make the journey to the bloodied terrace on their own.
            >Why is there a ghost of Godrey.
Illusion made in his likeness to protect the city using his skill.

            >Why are Omen shunned by Crucible Knights
Because Omen are confused with misbegotten due to the Omen Killer dropping the Crucible Knot, which is a horn visible on Misbegots but not Omen. Despite both having growths, Omens stem from the formless mother and is a result of a defiled soul, not a human who has blended with animal parts due to crucible interaction.

It is misbegotten that used to be seen as holy and then turned into slaves, not omen.

She’s a vessel that manipulated and slept with a bunch of people so she could destroy the elden beast that’s inside her. We crack her open like a jarperson because that’s basically what her and raddy are.

They're inverses of each other. Marika is the golden goddess, founder of the Golden Order, champion of the Erdtree. Yet she conspired to crack the Elden ring and bring ruin to the world.
Meanwhile Radagon bears the mark of Fell God, the incarnation of ruin. He's a defiant, bloodthirsty conqueror, even more so than Marika.

Yet, Radagon is dog of the golden order, he is obsessed with it and wants to restore it. He is the thorn in Marika's plans and seeks to restore the Elden Ring with him as either the new god or the eternal elden lord.

It's like they switched minds at some point.

It's probably due to the giant's curse that was laid on Marika when she cursed the last fire giant to protect the flames of ruin forever. A karmic retaliation, if he was to be bound to his station forever, than so was she: "Radagon" is the person that Marika pretended to be, a vicious, duplicitous, but utterly devoted defender of the Golden Order.

Like what? Radagon was a human descendant of giants that fused with Marika? I'm not a fan of the fusion theory because all it does it take Law of Regression "All things can be conjoined" litterally and creates this big question as to how this guy became "the same as Marika". It basically just looks at it like"Radagon being Marika makes no sense, so this is how it makes sense".
Where as Radagon being an inverted twin seems more in line with the games already apparent themes with Twins (Morgott being opposite of Mohgwyn, The D brothers).

That's one possibility but what I was hinting at is the fact that there's a possibility (unless things go full Ringed City) that one of the upcoming expansions could clear things up about the Radagon is Marika conundrum.

I have no clue. Maybe the original set up was Radagon leading the giants to burn the erdtree because they went schizo waging war with themselves. When that didn’t work she shattered the elden ring as a last ditch effort because she was tired of the golden will cucking her out of destroying it. Maybe she form changes to radagon to lead them to burn the erdtree but somehow loses control of herself because of the greater will’s brainwashing and ends up fighting against them as a false flag. She was literally made schizo like Blaidd was so she sheared herself to use the giants ti burn the erdtree. Melina is the last failsafe she had designed to act as kindling.

Visually, it's a ying yang thing, Marika looks like a golden god but is secretly a seething heretic, while Radagon looks like a champion of heretical fire but is the greatest defender of gold who ever lived. As for the literal why and how, it probably has to do with the curse that the fire giant put on Marika when Marika cursed him to tend to the flames of ruin forever. "If you would bind me to my station for the rest of my life, than I shall do the same to you."

Two things: first, red-haired Ragayon was around way before the war with the giants so his red hair can't be connected with the giants' god and second, Marika was the only that cast a curse.

okay, so there's a big tree in the center of he lands between. originally its 1 tree called the great tree. it dies, or is burned. after its death, several smaller trees sprout from its root system, creating a chaotic period of growth. thats the crucible. eventually a single stem grows the tallest and the remaining branches are destroyed or encompassed. thats Marika's erdtree.

No tree ever did that. The erdtree re-birthing process is much more gentle than the crucible life mixing shit. That's why the nu-Golden Order morons think that crucible touched species are heretical even though they're just the products of a different kind of Greater Will birth recycling. Because they think that the tree itself is the god and not just an arbitrary tool that the actual god sent down to facilitate the cycle of life.

The "elden hierarchy" is the recycling of life I'm talking about, not nu-Golden Order autism regarding trying to tell their own god what kinds of life are allowed to be buried in the erdtree and reborn. The GW probably gave life to the world and then drops down one or more things to establish a cycle by which living things die and then are recycled to give birth to new living things that share a fundamental golden connection. That's all the GW actually cares about, the details don't matter. Melina understands this on at least some level which is why she only throws a fit if you go with frenzied flame, which is the only ending that lets you defy the greater will itself rather than just the golden order.

I think it's more that that GW employs the system in which an empyrean rules the world as a god by mateling the Elden Ring and dictates how the world functions. I don't think it would for example, be opposed to a Servant of Rot obtaining the ring and ordering the world based on decay and rebirth.

So long as it has its system of a God ruler that houses the ring, it's fine. This is why Gold Mask realized the ultimate truth was to simply lock the Elden Ring into being a self governed system. It's actually smarter than what the Greater Will came up with.

True. But I think it would be mad if someone established a hierarchy in which the life cycle was completely disrupted. I'm not arguing that Gold Mask's ending is exactly what the GW wanted, its desires if anything were extremely broad. Goldmask just set things up in a way that both satisfied the GW and also was least disruptive to the lives of the people who currently exist, and locked it in such a way that it can't be easily altered.

i dont understand. all your points are salient but they dont support your claim. if you assume that the crucible is in fact a birthing process facilitated by the GW then there's tons of evidence in statues and archeology that the age of the crucible worshipped budding root systems. not to mention no reference at all to a literal crucible. if we know that the erdtree makes life, and is a tree, and we knee previous incarnations of the tree used by the GW to make life were also, (duh) trees, and we know that crucible era archeology worships what looks like a ton of little branching trees, why the hell would would you assume the crucible is a never yet seen metal bowl?

Because it didn't hold significance during Godfrey's time. By the time he married Marika, the Erdtree was the origin and center of life. By Godfrey's time, if that bowl was once the crucible of life, it certainly is no longer, now supplanted by the flame of ruin.

The crucible knights predate Godfrey's rule. They joined with him because during his era the golden order was more tolerant of things that were "gold" regardless of whether they jived with the erdtree. That's also how the dragons were made allies, thanks to their golden flesh. After Godfrey's exile the golden order became much less tolerant, exiling the crucible knights, persecuting and slaughtering abhumans, and only making peace with other belief systems as a pretext for subversion when force failed to find purchase.

if THE crucible, the epicenter of worship during Gddfrey's stint as elden lord, was somehow taken over and subsumed by the fell god, subsequently turning into the physical manifestation of heresy against Marika's rule, don't you think someone would have fricking mentioned that?

I'm not watching purely on the moronation of the first title alone. The erd tree is not an illusion, it's just a tree. Like it's a major point in the game that the golden order were idiots for worshipping the erdtree as though it itself was the god and not just something that the greater will plopped down on the lands between for practical purposes. To the point where they were absolutely certain that only one erd tree could ever exist and then were just absolutely baffled when it shit out a whole bunch of seeds to grow new erd trees. We can even see various stage of erdtree life, and see that they do indeed just look like regular ass trees until they accumulate enough golden lifeforce to become radiant.

The symbol when casting Crucible spells is also a tree, you should try paying attention to the game instead of making shit up. The Elden Beast is also the Elden Ring so it was 100% not the meteor that described FA as they possessed the Ring in the past

yeah i never understood why people think that the whip item means that they cursed radagon when that's the most obtuse way you could possibly interpret that sentence. it's far more likely seeming that radagon has giant ancestry.

Because we know the tightly held secret that Radagon is Marika. The item description is misleading on purpose.

him being cursed or born of giant blood doesnt even exclude either side of the radagon argument. if he was a separate person and fused later, he could have literally been born to a giant parent, or cursed. and if he was created in marika during the war, he could have been styled after / cursed by the giants at "birth" which could be interpreted as either a curse or a brithright

The Brick Hammer has a description that is probably a reference to Radagon.
                >Weapon made from an ordinary stone brick. Wielded by a laborer who lead a rebellion, and later become a champion himself.
                >Even among other bludgeons of its size, this weapon is especially weighty. The strength of a giant is required to wield it.

Radagon knows smithing, which could make him a laborer.
He became known as a champion.
His red hair indicates he might be descended from the Giants as opposed to being a curse, which would also line up with the strength of giants being required to wield it.

I still think that the jellyfish quest was done wrong. I think at the end of the quest there should have been a choice. You can choose to let Aurelia see her long lost sister for a few moments, and after that she's lost forever. Aurelia stays with you and fights for you but remains sad. Alternatively, you can choose to let her go with her sister. You lose the summon permanently, but she's happy. Most importantly, no matter what you choose, the quest has no rewards. Because you're not supposed to do it for yourself, you're supposed to do it for her.

She really should've just materialized whenever you sat at a site of grace. Didn't even need more dialogue or to be interactable in any way besides the normal speech she gives when you level up, she just needs to be seen more often. It naturally makes players bond with her and it would be more impactful when she leaves you temporarily at the Plateau or permanently if you go the Three-Fingers path.

The fact we can't just tell Malenia "Yo your bother's a frickin' egg or some shit, go get him." Is dumb.

      Anonymous

It is dumb until you realize that the point of her character and her fight is that she's just putting up a front. She's not concerned about getting Miquella back and figures he'll just show up when he feels like it. She abandoned hm to go get into fights which is what got him kidnapped in the first place. Then she sat around and ruined his Haligtree while he was gone. Then she challenges you to a fight, and when you beat her ass, instead of just taking the loss, she blooms the scarlet aeonia, again, right in the middle of her brother's Haligtree. Because despite her constant, repetitive insistence, she is NOT, in fact, the blade of Miquella. Malenia is the Goddess of Rot, an avatar of death and destruction, who cares for nothing other than to revel in the glory of her own strength and beauty.

        Anonymous

That's why you gotta complete Milicent's questline and give Malenia her mojo back.

          Anonymous

Except that Millicent's quest ends in failure regardless of how it ends. Either you betray her and she loses her will, or she dies rather than allow the scarlet rot to take her, trusting that you can restore Malenia's honor. And then you don't. Because unlike Millicent, who was so pure of heart that she would suffer a horrible and ignoble death rather than allow herself to be used as a tool of destruction, Malenia doesn't HAVE any honor, and never did.

            >Malenia doesn't HAVE any honor, and never did.
Milicent herself says that you're returning to Malenia something she once had but then gave up in order to match Radahn so you are clearly wrong.

              Anonymous

Millicent never met Malenia and is just going off of the same stories that we were told. She thinks they must be alike, having suffered from the same affliction, and having in some way being crafted from her flesh. But she is wrong. The contrast is even given away in their body language. Millicent rejects and hides away the physical signs of her rot, she thanks you profusely for giving her the tools to at least visually pretend to be a normal person. Malenia literally strips bare in the middle of battle to show off her naked, rotting form, adding dance moves and flourishes to the end of her attacks just to show off how much of a bad b***h she is, how little of a frick she could possibly give to some homosexual tarnished like you.

                Anonymous

Shut up, schizo. Millicent isn't going off of stories, she has innate knowledge of Malenia because she is some mystical rot-birthed spawn of hers and her knowledge grows and memories return to her as she goes about her journey. It's the same reason why she's inexorably drawn to Malenia in the first place, and it's why she knows that the traits she embodies once belonged to Malenia as well and must be returned to her. Malenia during her boss fight is still missing that sense of dignity because you don't return it to her until after the encounter. Your hate-boner is obviously just fueled by some strange fetish, for rot-pussy or shitposting I'm not sure.

You know I just don't get you. We obviously agree that Millicent is one of the best girls, so why would you go to bat for fricking Malenia, one of the worst people in the entire story? Like her name literally starts with "Mal" it couldn't be more on the nose. And you don't return shit to her after the battle, you put in a needle and get a different needle.

theyre no saints but why do malenia and ranni always attract such angry fancannoning autists to lambast them? gee i wonder why malenia, constant unwavering companion of the only truly kind demigod in the story, might be fighting a guy whos literally got the word "conqueror" in his title. perobably her fault somehow right

                Anonymous

Well the story doesn't fricking tell us why! She went all the way around the world, kicking everyone's asses for literally no explained reason. It's not like the battle was anywhere near the Haligtree or even the Shaded Castle. And given that she also attacks us for literally no reason, we're left to assume that she just loves kicking people's asses and is a salty loser. Some people have said she did it to help Miquella with his plan, that it may have been thwarted by Radahn's halting of the stars. That's not actually stated anywhere, but it is halfway logical. but if we do assume it to be true, it doesn't actually help her character. Marching your whole army to go murder your brother to facilitate a magic ritual isn't a good thing to do, especially when we're not given any evidence she even attempted diplomacy or some sort of trade.

We know she wasn't after great runes, since she declined to fight Godrick until he insulted her and then let him keep his great rune when he validated her ego.

Not to give the current story a complete pass but in previous versions of the map the haligtree was south of Caelid in the water. If that were the case then invading would be the only way Malenias troops could avoid the war breaking out at the gates of Elphael. I still feel the logic of that is sound in the larger story. Malenia only does as Miquella says, and Radahn is the third most notorious GO conquerer who intentionally styles himself after the first most notorious GO conqueror

I'm willing to accept the possibility that Radahn was some sort of threat to whatever Miquella had planned. I just don't find that reason enough to justify their decision to invade a country and try to murder him. Everything we know about him makes him seem relatively reasonable compared with Godfrey, the barely contained animal man, or Radagon, the duplicitous golem shithead. We're not even sure Radahn was holding back the stars on purpose, much less why he might have been doing it, and so I can't agree that it would be safe to assume diplpmacy was not an option to get whatever the frick it was Malenia and Miquella even wanted. And that's even assuming they did, and Malenia didn't just decide to kick Radahn's ass just to prove she had the strongest feet.

Radahn used to host one of the colosseum's where slaves would fight each other to the death, a practice which even Godfrey outlawed. His soldiers liked him and he cared for his horse but nothing points to him being a particularly nice person. Anyways a running theory that seems fairly plausible is that Radahn's halting of the stars was affecting Miquella's plans, such as preventing the Eclipse ritual from succeeding in reviving Godwyn or blocking his fate like he does Ranni's. Something interesting is that the amber starlight, a shard of a star that is said to guide a demigod's fate and the key ingredient in Seluvis's roofie potion, is found under a lone statue of Miquella and Malenia in Leyndell, which heavily implies that shard represented their own fate. Given that Radahn continues to hold the stars even after becoming a zombie, it was something he had no intention of relinquishing which is why Malenia was sent to fight him, and why Radahn specifically seemed to be her target as she ignored the other demigods and didn't take Godrick's rune

It's plausible but not well substabtiated. More importantly at least to me, I just don't understand why Radahn would be adverse to allowing Godwyn's revival. Radahn was a golden order fanboy, if anything he would have been completely on board with reviving the coolest guy. Especially if it got rid of those who live in death.

All we know is that he just refuses to release the stars for some reason. He might've been okay with Godwyn, but his revival is of less consequence than releasing the stars and letting fate progress.

                >Radahn used to host one of the colosseum's where slaves would fight each other to the death, a practice which even Godfrey outlawed.
The colosseums were in use during Godfrey's reign, they only stopped during Radagon's reign. Also, that section of Caelid may have been ruled by Godfrey/the Golden Order before Radahn was born, or he was just a young child. The Caelid colosseum also looks more like it was turned into a second fortress a la Redmane Castle to boot. Also, nothing suggests that the ritual at Castle Sol failed because of the stars being frozen, just that it failed in general. Presumably, the sun was too mighty for them to somehow overcome with their weird rituals, or if they were trying to reach some Helphen otherworld sun, they didn't succeed beyond stuff like the Eclipse shotel. Also, if these shards of starlight are the key to brainwashing someone, wouldn't freezing the ability to brainwash people be a good thing?

The roofie potion doesn't actually work on Ranni I just included that bit for fun. What's important is that the amber stars guide the demigod's fates, and specifically the twins as hinted by their statue placement. Radahn halts the stars, therefore Miq and Mal's fates are also affected.

The potion doesn't work on Ranni, but that's because she might thwart the attempt to make her drink it, can't drink it because she's in a doll's body, or is already ensnared by the Dark Moon, hence her soul being blue like the "dolls" already. If Miquella and Malenia have a "fate" separated from them and discarded in the wilderness, then they no longer care for Radahn freezing the stars, and the stars losing any such influence would only help secure Miquella and Malenia's plans.

The amber starlight is said to itself once be a demigod's very fate according to Seluvis. This to me shows that Radahn's halting changed the course of their fate which isn't what they want and is why the amber starlight fell out of the sky, and they need him dead to out their fate back on track. We also know fate is very literal, as a meteor shows up to conveniently lead a path to Nokron during Ranni's quest

                Anonymous

The Amber Starlight seems to have been removed though, as opposed to controlling Miquella or Malenia from afar. Since Ranni believes she had to kill her empyrean body to somehow be free of the Two Fingers, presumably any kind of control in Elden Ring is innately born alongside someone at their birth, not distant and applied later. The "fate" after Radahn is defeated is the stars actively sending a meteorite to try to make Ranni become their empyrean, not a natural course of the universe by any means. It's a term for one of the many invested parties of outer gods.

    >Gold Mask's brilliant idea is to make the Golden order eternal
    >When eternity and therefore stagnation is repeatedly shown in Elden Ring, as in all of Miyazaki's games, to be complete shit inevitably riddled with issues of decay and corruption
Like a true Golden Order autismo, Gold Mask is incapable of letting go.

It's eternal until the Greater Will says enough and shakes things up again.
Mask' order is the same as the previous one but without the vessel God doing anything at all.

      >Eternal
No, he drastically reforms it. There are no more "gods", everyone is held accountable, even the outer gods might no longer have influence, and the Elden Ring is improved while also governing the goodness of the world entirely on its own. No more curses from a flawed handling of the universe, no more torturing people for power or for fun, the people, animals, and world are cured and not arbitrarily excluded.

So after beating Mohg I realized something. Miquella in the cocoon is really fricking big, like going by the size of his hand and arm he'd be at least Mohg-sized. Malenia is fully grown and isn't that big, since Miquella was still kid-sized then he clearly must've been smaller than her, so then the question is: when did Miquella grown to the size implied by his arm?

Is it a result of getting fricked up by Mohg's abomination blood goddess or would it be something that started happening when he tree'd himself?

Five years to finish what, exactly?
I'll give you another one at best, to put cutscenes instead of teleporters and to rearrange/reorganize certain secondary boss battles and enemy encounters.
And maybe also to give the Avatars and Wyrm extra weapons.

i bought this during the Christmas Sale because the mods seem sick. only things i didn't factor in were how esoteric combining mods is and that some content isn't compatible with the current patch cause the game just got that Arena DLC like three weeks ago. frick.
it sucks that i've gotta choose between Aspects of the Shinobi, the Vergil Katana moveset, Clever's Modpack, Unlocked Ashes of War and Enchantments, and the Garden of Eyes Overhaul. kinda thought i'd be able to install them all together and go crazy.
