KCD was a perfect eurojank game. Clunky combat, clunky voice action, clunky everything.
I'm worried that 2 is going to have higher production values.
The jank is part of KCD's magic.

What a fricking moronic take. Never post again, because your moronation is infecting other people with stupidity.
KCD's magic was the game itself, its gameplay, its visuals and the atmosphere it created by combining those.

You are so fricking moronic, you're going to post one of those open mouth Wojak variations and claim in your head that you're doing it ironically which excuses your lack of personality and idiocy.

I can't imagine how attach to KCD you must be to get THIS upset when someone points out that it's janky.
        It's janky.
Just because it looks nice doesn't make the bargain bin voice acting go away. Or the funky animations.
You seem to be laboring under the delusion that I don't like those things about KCD.

the menu UI is almost a direct copy, and when you look closer you can see the similarities elsewhere

it's crytek, game runs like shit because it's massively CPU bound.
basically the same problem as dragons dogma 2 in that the more NPC's on screen the worse it runs, probably the physics of them interacting with the world/ground or some shit.
you can try some mods that set LOD settings a bit better which tends to help a lot, but only if your GPU is chugging.

max settings on a 13900k and 4090 has my CPU sitting on 100% on like 3 of my cores and GPU at like 40%. 150fps.

          Anonymous

Funnily enough, me trying to run the game on normal setting chugs the game like hell while running it on very high makes the game run smoothly

            Anonymous

yeah that's common, at a certain setting the game might "offload" work it deems fit to the GPU rather than trying to do it on CPU.
there's a bunch of games where raising the settings actually increases fps but it comes down to however the game was made/optimized etc.

for instance particle effects can be done on CPU or GPU but the GPU ones run (and can look) 1000x better,
so if the dev made all of the "ultra" particle effects for GPU and the "low" for CPU, then setting to "ultra" actually takes load of CPU and (hardware permitting) make the game run better.

Would be easy for the most part. I think there are a couple of fights where you can't use the bow, so it can't be a pure bow only playthrough.

They nerfed the bow by gatekeeping it behind high strength and not giving you a reticle.

Mods can fix the latter but once you acquire a midranged longbow you'll oneshot everything in the game including the guy who took your father's sword.

Hopefully KCD2 has a crosshair/reticle for the bow and crossbow.

What I found more fun was to either poach game or get high quality gear and sell it to my favourite merchants. They'd run out of money to buy it all, especially in the poorer towns, but over time they sell the stuff you've sold them, so over time they get richer and richer.

Because you've had to go through and sell to practically every merchant in town, soon enough you've bolstered the entrie town's economy through the roof.

I love the forests in this game, especially in hardcore when you can so easily get lost in them. I still remember the first time I wandered into a forest at night and got jumped by cumans, and just ran like a madman not knowing where I was going. Made it all the way to Talmberg and heard someone yell "Cumans! Sound the alarm!" and a bell ringing before I died.

The only way to properly fight multiple enemies without ranged is master strikes which you need to train for. It's moronic. I was attacked by like 4 peasants and a dog. Dunno. Personally I find open world games boring and insulting to players, where you are given the illusion of adventure but really you are going back and forth they the same areas over and over again. So my idea would to make the game not open world but linear to actually make all the different areas unique for their purposes of that specific level and not an area that you are meant to be in at the beginning middle and end part of the game.

there's a quest where you have to investigate some women who are rumoured to be witches by following them into the forest to see what they're up to. because you're working for the church. some men show up in the middle of them doing drugs and trying to commune with spirits to kill the witches. if you defend them, the priest who hired you gives you shit for fighting against good christian men in defense of the devil's prostitutes.

at first glance it looks like a typical medieval high fantasy game but in the nitty gritty it almost begins to feel alien because it show s a true and accurate picture of eastern europe at the time with all of it's warts, rather than a sanitized modern telling that omits anything uncomfortable to publisher executives.

yeah it's kinda fricked that you do some Bernard training and the 3rd lesson is basically:
      >oh btw these are called masterstrokes and they trivialize all combat
and if you miss that lesson (I don't think you can do it till after the horse farm) you're basically a shitter with lowly bandits countering your every swing.

        Anonymous

I think it's fricked by the fact that enemies can pull combos and master strikes so frequently.
If this shit was for late game enemies or at least caused by your own failure (being too predictable for instance) I'd say it's fine, but the fact they can pull it out of their ass randomly just make 90% of the things you learn in combat moot.
Why strike and put yourself at risk when you can just parry and frick them over anyway?

          Anonymous

yeah exactly - it's a worse bet to ever actually do a strike.
I don't think enemies should be able to counter unless you hit where they're defending, the fact any stab/swing can lead to a counter makes combat basically a solved problem because there's only 1 optimal way to do it.

        Anonymous

        >with lowly bandits countering your every swing.
That's based on your warfare and weapon skill. They'll almost never parry if you get it higher than them, and obviously there's the whole system of feints he teaches you that you can mostly ignore but do help.

You can steal the items, have your friends help you or beat him by learning the timing. Essentially, jab him while he's recovering from throwing a punch or kick him while he approaches. Kunesh is meant to be a better fighter than you, you are not meant to beat him in a straight fight unless you are good at the game mechanics.

This game has one of the best mindless grinds ever, it genuinely outshines the actual game for me. The game is good, I've beaten it legit, but nowadays I've spent more time grinding in skalitz than I have actually playing the game. It just triggers something in my brain.

a better game might incentivize not grinding
they might even remove abilities that arent that fun

        Anonymous

There isn't any real incentive to grind, as I said I have beaten the game properly, and being able to grind in skalitz is clearly a weird unintented feature. I just find it deeply satisfying for some reason.

    >Henry leave Skallitz

I always tell myself I'm going to make Henry chaste and a good Christian when I start my playthrough but it never works out. Certain things are just too kino, like drinking with Father Godwin.

I loved that quest with the heretic girl who points out that Henry isn't processing or healing from his trauma at all. He just says "So?" He kills Cumans to cope, and he's making life better for everyone around him at the same time.

It's a great way of framing your main character.

I just discovered that if you get a bounty worth of 10+ days in jail, it'll automatically fail any speech checks with guards.
Kinda wish they just removed the option when that happens because I thought it was bugged.
An actual bug tho is that if a NPC that can respawn will keep their disposition toward you. If you ever wondered why a guard suddenly picked a fight with you out of nowhere, you probably killed him and he came back to life.

  31. 1 week ago
    Anonymous

Oh and another bug: A dying NPC will have his disposition toward you set to the minimum.
If you leave the area before he dies and come back, he'll be back at full health and will pick a fight with you. If that NPC is guard, fighting him won't be a crime but his friends will help him and fighting them is a crime.
