Most gamers prefer their games with English dubs (Metal Gear, Sonic the Hedgehog, Fire Emblem, Persona), so why do Genshin Impact fans keep harassing video game voice actors?
It's All Fucked Shirt $22.14 |
Ape Out Shirt $21.68 |
It's All Fucked Shirt $22.14 |
Only sub-human EOLs prefer the soulless globohomosexual English dubs. The rest of the world will turn on the original audio.
Wrong, weebtards use the Jap dub in Genshin, not the original audio
West-Taiwanese sounds like garbage
>Metal Gear
Akio is the only snake.
Don't care what normalgays think, dub VAs are irrelevant
I don't understand why Americans can't be bothered to watch something in another language or with subs.
You notice it a lot with japanese media since its a lot more prolific but a huge number of mutts saw even Squid Game in that terrible dub.
I really don't understand it. I've always just worked off the assumption that the close to original experience something is the better. Why would I even want to watch foreign shit if I couldn't even bear hearing other languages?
>too lazy to read
>cant read fast enough
>cant pay attention and read at same time
>only watch things while multitasking so can keep eyes on screen
>prefer hearing a language they can understand
Thats the usual reasons Ive come across
It doesnt really matter to me personally Ill watch either or
I cant fricking stand dubbed live action stuff thoughexcept godzilla sometimes, even if the subbed versions are better
>I've always just worked off the assumption that the close to original experience something is the better.
Most subgays use this as an argument, and it's always fricking funny to see.
Oh, you'd rather get something closer to the original experience? Then why don't you know Japanese? You can't back up your viewpoint, because if you actually cared about getting something vaguely authentic, you'd stop reading troonylations. Instead, you consume the same disgusting dub script, just in text only form.
ワイ日本語はわかるんですけど
ゴダールやベルトルッチの映画も日本語で吹き替えで見るつもりはないゾ
what does this ワイ bit indicate? I keep seeing it in games I'm playing
It's /livejupiter/ memes. I cant do the fake mouko-ben accent as well as they can so I just use the pronoun since i think it's funny and it's faster to type.
Forgot to mention, I think in the context outside of 5channel memes it's supposed to be a pronoun used by old people with thick kansai accents.
>you consume the same disgusting dub script,
as someone who watches alot of anime dubbed with the subtitles on they often dont match outside of the same general idea thats trying to be conveyed
sometimes they are completely different
like in YYH instead of saying 100% over 100% he says he lied and 100% was really 85%
This is the video game board. In most games the script is the same because the game is dubbed at the same time it's subbed.
I mean, it's not like you're proving his point wrong. You're just doing the usual /djt/gay runaround whenever someone complains that translations aren't as good as they can be. Telling them to learn japanese and run from the problem instead.
Plus the reason english versions get dubtitles in the first place is /because/ Americans are so used to dubs already, unlike say the koreans or chinese or most other nations that just faithfully translate the nip script and use the original performances. Which was his entire point.
>run from the problem instead.
You don't get it. It's not a problem you can solve.
Imagine you live in an area next to a river. And every year or two, the river floods, and your house gets fricked up. Just move, idiot.
>anon thinks people dont live on flood plains
let me introduce you to new orleans anon
The weirdest thing is when devs get the Japanese VAs to record new lines so they match the dubtitles. It's rare but man is that weird. Even if you pick Japanese you still get the US script. Weird shit.
When has that happened?
I was thinking of Gunvolt games. There's probably more but it's hard to notice.
I remember that Fire Emblem/Megami Tensei crossover did too, but I think that was because they wanted to censor it so maybe it doesn't count.
Genshin Impact isn't even Japanese. It's not even anime. It's literally a chink gacha game with an anime wannabe art style. By that logic, shouldn't you be learning Chinese to play Genshin with chink voices?
Why would any human want to play genshit?
It's less about the translation are more about the tonality of the voice acting that we care about.
>the only option is Japanese or English
CHRONICALLY American anon. Believe it or not there are actually at least two languages that aren't English or Japanese.
Because 90% of all subbed video games aren't fully subbed.
Action games lack subtitles for battle quotes most of the time. Even some lewd games don't say what they're saying when you do the deeds. Yes I want even the moan and groans and every single thing subbed.
IF every single line was properly subbed then maybe I'd give it a go but even then not often.
Some people just engage with media because they had an interest in that particular work, and their interest in "Japan" or "Japanese culture" or "the Japanese language" as concepts as much as you or I do. They found a piece of media that piqued their interest, and many people usually go with what's most familiar to them linguistically if it's available.
This isn't exclusive to US Americans either. There are many Spanish language dubs of anime, and I know for a fact that some Latin Americans opt to use these if they are available for a certain show they're watching.
I personally watch subbed anime almost exclusively (Partially because I'm messed up in the head and reading is easier for me than watching because it's an active practice. Reading subtitles helps me focus om the media better.), but when it comes to games I may or may not switch to JP voices. For games what matters to me is that it does the "game" part well, and some other players probably think the same. Really I actually like it when games have little to no voice acting, because that opens the possibility that the resources that would have been dumped into the seiyuu pit could have gone to something else.
And when games these days have atrocious scripts like this
no matter what language you put on, it's more just down to what mouth noises you like the most.
I hated dubfights back then and I hate them now. Many dubs are shit and rightfully considered as such, but I can't build up the energy to care about the exact details of how people consume increasingly mediocre pop media.
I’ve got no problem with subtitles for passive media, like movies or tv shows, but with a game I don’t want to miss out on dialogue because my eyes were focusing on the enemies and not the subtitles. A VN or a turn-based RPG would probably be fine but I don’t tend to play those.
Dubgays aren’t even human, don’t give a frick that most “people” like them that just means there’s a lot of tasteless morons in the world
I prefer text boxes
harassing them about what?
That they're not as good as JP voices, duh. Mentally ill weebs should get the rope. Because of them everyone believes that if you just watch anime, you're one of those.
>they're not as good as JP voices
literally true though
I mean isn't that literally the truth though? Not to condone genshintrannies or anything but you don't even need to understand a language in order to gauge acting quality and verisimilitude when it comes to playing a character. And the gulf in quality is readily apparent in english dubs of japanese media.
Seiyuus saying the dumbest most anime bullshit ever still has verisimilitude compared to EN VAs performing the same lines which is just embarassing
I feel this is because the jp scene does voice "acting" while in America they do "voice" acting.
In Japan, they actually try to deliver the lines. They will shout moronic shit and try their damnedest to own it and sound cool doing it. The amazing thing is that it usually fricking does, but maybe it just has to do with the Japanese language not sounding completely moronic when you say stupid shit (mind you this is the same culture where bushi had to say shit like "katajikenai" unironically, and where bombastic kabuki is their version of theater). The actors do their best to really sell the line and sell their character, and it sounds like they understand their character's convictions
In NA, people do voices. They don't act. They are always themselves. They don't try to adapt their delivery or who they are or what they're doing, they just show up to work, they are themselves, they have no idea what the scene is or what the character's motivations or feelings are, they just got the job because their name was already well known and they can do a few different voices. That says nothing about their acting ability, it says only that the person who got the job can do more than 1 voice, it does not take into account how well the person delivering the lines can or can't act. And believe you me, that person cannot fricking act. They are cringing at what they are saying mid sentence, and you can hear it. They deliver a line and it sounds out of place on their tongue, and hollow behind the words
Case in point, script quality and acting quality between these:
?t=1068
?t=68
Noone's out here pretending like Engage doesn't have gutter-tier level writing/plot either
>English VA
unrelated but i started visiting 2ch lately and just realized a lot of Ganker meme were imported from there.
even the ones that didn't make sense in english.
Like what, sage? I get the imparting of general imageboard culture but specific memes? I don't see many western inmugays for example.
Imagine watching or playing anything from Japan in cringy english voices, couldn't be me. Good thing i am and always will be above dumb americans.
because "most gamers" are borderline moronic
english voice actors fall in 2 categories
>just reading the lines like normal
>trying too hard to sound cool
jap is always better, even with all the annoying one liner tropes
Don't care still using japanese voices
