When the Switch first launched they said they wanted to do the iPad model and release upgraded versions of the same thing but that was a long time ago so who knows.
Even the giga flop that was the Gamecube made a profit. They only ever lost money during the WiiU gen, and that was because the consoles were sold at a loss. Nintendo is never gonna do that again
If they don't play it safe with a backwards compatible upgrade, they'd be fricking moronic. If they've somehow learned nothing from the Wii U, that'd be really weird.
>the big great games like Elden Ring, RE4, Armored Core 6 and more skipped it.
And 90% of the other third party games came to switch either first or simultaneously.
He's one of those morons who thinks that AAA is the only third party support. You could go blue in the face listing games like smtv, MH rise, all those taiko games, Digimon survive, dragonball fighterz and so on and he wouldn't consider it support because they're good games
Its just going to be a Switch that puts out native 1080 and 60 fps and maybe higher when docked, Nintendo doesn't have to aim that high for people to consoom and they know it.
>play it safe
Literally has never worked out well for Nintendo once PlayStation debuted and they end up in last place in whatever gen they try to do this in.
So if Switch 2 is literally "Switch, just stronger" it'll flop VERY hard. Just like Gamecube. Just like Wii U.
>Literally has never worked out well for Nintendo once PlayStation debuted and they end up in last place in whatever gen they try to do this in.
Except for every single time. In fact the one time they actually lost money was with the Wii U and they certainly weren't playing it safe there.
Not that I've seen them say that but an announcement in March doesn't preclude it coming out in 2 years, it would be moronic to announce it 2 years in advance though
All they said was that they would be focusing on the Switch until the end of the next fiscal year, which would be March 2025. But that doesn't mean they can't announce a new system, the next system will be backwards compatible so the Switch will still be the priority until the Switch 2 starts taking off and they can get games for it out, just like how the first couple years of the PS5 and Xbox Series were just them playing Gen 8 games at 60fps and higher resolutions.
They always deny new systems because only a moron would say , "yes we're preparing a new system but please continue to buy obsolete switch consoles and games"
People will buy the new thing no matter what so why have a nice day in the foot when people are still happily paying $300 for a switch
In the Wii U era, Nintendo was targeting a market that had no idea how games worked. They saw “Wii” and assumed it was a part of the same system. People also know that “Super” is being used the same way as the NES to SNES
Super Nintendo Switch = SNS which is a no go. SNS is the term that nips use for all social media(Social Networking Service), it'd be too confusing for them. It'd be like if Microsoft called their next console the "X" and people would keep confusing it for the rebranded Twitter.
Nintendo of all companies? Absolutely. Nintendo wants all the control they can get and digital only is a good way of getting that. It also cuts out the cost of physical and distribution. It's not a matter of if, but when.
>Nintendo wants all the control they can get and digital only is a good way of getting that.
Are you confusing them with Sony or something? I mean, you know Nintendo doesn't even have drm on their consoles right?
>I mean, you know Nintendo doesn't even have drm on their consoles right?
You're really saying that after the partnered with denuvo? It's not on their yet, doesn't mean it will never be. I didn't think nintendo would do paid online either until all of a sudden they did.
UHS-II microSD cards would be perfectly viable tbh. It's not like they're going to be using 4K assets so 300 MB/s would be perfectly fine, though costly at first. People thought MicroSD was going to be too expensive at first but look at where we are now, you an get a 512 GB for like $50.
One on hand it'd be nice to play stuff like Xenoblade and other stuff in a higher resolution.
But I have some mods like disabling the Vision music in 1, or the pause menu music in 3 that I'd lose out on.
So emulation is probably the way to go maybe.
literally every first iteration nintendo handheld is compatible with the previous generation (ds even played gameboy games). The wii and wii u were backwards compatible. It will have backwards compatibility
>They will use an ARM CPU again, if it doesn't have backwards compatibility for artificial reasons it will fail, DOA on day 1.
Yeah but look at the Wii U, it was backwards compatible with the GameCube by technicality, but didn't do this.
>if it doesn't have backwards compatibility for artificial reasons it will fail, DOA on day 1.
Not having backwards compatibility on their absolutely massive install base and finally successful for once e-shop would be such a legendarily fricktartded move I'm worried they might actually do it.
>CEO-san, we have 150 million happy customers, how do we keep them giving us money? >CEO: we shut down their online and force them rebuy everything again
Search you heart, you know it cannot be any other way.
most people don't give a shit about backwards compatibility
and besides, normies seeing the switch 2 playing switch games would make it seem like a small upgrade or revision just like phones do, and we end up with another wii u situation on our hands
All it needs is a better advertising campaign and a new name. Nintendo should push it hard as they can, display ads on home screens of regular consoles.
The gimmick for casuals is that it plays Mario kart and they've brought that gimmick generation after generation except the one they just straight up didn't know existed.
streetpass but you can offload it to a little pokewalker thing
so you can carry just that around with you, go home and sync it with your switch, and see what you got
plus a proper wiimote-style aiming with a sensor on the dock.
and higher performance mode while docked
All the digital purchases on 1 still going to work on 2, right?
no, nintendo always makes new internet service thing for each console
They wont do the same thing again. They fricked up their first rendition of the digital service store on the Wii with the port to the Wii U, they had a decent start with Wii and lost it all.
The switch was a fresh start and it works fairly well, I dont see them changing shit and losing years of infrastructure work again
I imagine for user ease the storefront will look exactly the same as the switch
>I imagine for user ease the storefront will look exactly the same as the switch
I hope they put back the eshop music they composed for the switch, but ended up removing
I appreciate Nintendo making the Switch UI as fast as possible, but when the eshop still fricking runs like shit, there's no excuse to add the music again.
>All the digital purchases on 1 still going to work on 2, right?
Nintendo has the tendency to treat the two equal so if there isn't physical backwards compatibility, then there won't be digital backwards compatibility.
no, nintendo always makes new internet service thing for each console
thats because they fricked up wii -> wii u
and wii u -> switch
they have a much better accounts and content delivery system now
there's no way they spent 7 years porting old games just to start over
one of the design goals for the switch was creating creating software like ios/android that you buy once and can still run on future hardware, something they haven't managed to do well in the past, requiring them to redo everything the VC on wii had because of hardware differences and the dumb accounts system they had before
>they have a much better accounts and content delivery system now
They literally had an account system that worked just fine during the wii/wii u eras. Hell, it was better because it actually had decent reward incentives and they had backwards compatibility and game transfers back then. Then that account system conveniently got killed off right around a year leading up to the switch.
Whether they have backwards compatibility will have nothing to do with their account system, that's just some bullshit their feeding people.
no, nintendo always makes new internet service thing for each console
>All the digital purchases on 1 still going to work on 2, right?
Nintendo has the tendency to treat the two equal so if there isn't physical backwards compatibility, then there won't be digital backwards compatibility.
They've confirmed it like 15 times already and you still go on with your shit
They could still do all that and just make Switch purchases incompatible with the new system. I don't think they will do that but just have a purchase history doesn't mean it will be backwards compatible.
It's called the Nintendo Switch Up! btw. Hello to people in the future searching the archive when they officially announce the name to see if anyone had posted it.
Didn't you know? This webm featuring flawless 60 fps gameplay was recorded on day -12 before the actual release of TOTK, literally less than 24 hours after it first got leaked. Sure, there were some minimal issues, but that's because the game wasn't even available to be played officially. 5 days later and there were almost all solved on the Ryujinx emulator.
What is wrong with people like you? Are you on Nintendo's payroll to be in such level of denial? How can you explain missing the literal daily generals there were at the time, when me and everyone else on Ganker was playing the game in high res with good framerate and proving you wrong?

NTA but saying minimal is very generous, you also needed an above average pc to run at 60 frames, framerate also varied with places
The first village you encounter once you descend the sky islands had very low framerates, to this day, it still does

Sure, but your machine doesn't reflect the majority of everyone experiences with the game once the game leaked
TOTK ran at 60FPS but you also needed a Ryzen 9(5900x or better) + high end gpu for that to happen

with a ryzen 7 5800x3d, i get 60 fps stable with drops to 50's in towns like looking landing. you do not need a ryzen 9 to play this game on pc lol.

https://arch.b4k.co/v/search/subject/ZELDA%20LEAK%20THREAD/
Now tell me, someone who finished the game one day before the release or all of these people how the game was "unplayable". The depths visual bug was fixed very quickly, so yes the game was running literally flawlessly and better than on a switch before the release. In fact, the depths looked better and more atmospheric when the area was darker
You're probably someone who still uses Yuzu. In that case you get what you fricking deserve. This emulator shouldn't exist because they steal code from Ryujinx and waste their patron funding on escorts. Meanwhile Ryujinx has a good philosophy development and had the game working 2 weeks before release.

yea not gonna bother trying to learn how to make a webm for you lol. there are inevitable frame drops to the 55's and 50's in kariko and lookout landing I will admit. but the game is definitely playable at 4k 60 fps on my ryzen 7.
>metroid prime 4 actual console exclusive >zelda oracle of seasons/ages remake by the links awakening team (multiplat with switch 1) >mario odyssey 2 (multiplat with switch 1)
If Metroid exists, it's more likely than anything else to still release on the original Switch because it's already been announced for that platform
They'll do a TP/Botw and release it for both. As a final title for one console and the first for the next
Would be brave of Nintendo to launch with a Metroid title though. Usually its Mario or Zelda. As much as the gaming community seems to be hyped for Prime 4, its still a niche market compared to mario and zelda
How will DLC for Switch games be handled if you buy a game like say Smash on the Switch 2? Will we still be able to buy DLC for that game or just the base game only?
I mean we still need to know how BC/past purchases are going to work. Latest Furukawa interview had him explicitly mention the Wii U and the transition between consoles. Each systems architecture has been different enough to the point where they couldn't do BC, but I feel like Nintendo has been talking a lot about making sure Nintendo finally settles on an actual unified account system.
they're not resetting the library
https://www.nintendolife.com/news/2014/02/iwata_looking_to_emulate_ios_and_android_with_a_common_platform_for_future_nintendo_hardware
do you have to rebuy your phone apps if you get a new phone?
no, because it has an accounts system that knows what you own (something they totally fricked up on the wii and wii u)
>no, because it has an accounts system that knows what you own (something they totally fricked up on the wii and wii u)
In principle, true. In theory, good luck playing any older phone game - they need updates and devs did a runner.
The difference the majority of nintendo digital software that they'd care about porting to the next hardware config is first party. Versus iOS/Android in which the majority of apps are third party.
apple/google's fault for borking the api with OS upgrades that break old software
it's much simpler for nintendo to provide everything the switch needs on future hardware to keep software working, and keep expanding the line with new hardware capabilities
there's really no reason why a switch 7 can't run switch 1 titles when it's all digital and doesn't have to bother offering a compatible physical sloot
nintendo should allow a way for physical people to claim a digital copy though, eventually it's all going to be digital
>iwata looking to emulate ios and android with a common platform for future nintendo hardware
Thank god they didn't do that as its a fricking moronic plan. People hang onto the same phone forever precisely because they don't need to upgrade to use the same apps. There is no pressure to upgrade on android and with iphone its less about having the apps and more about having the newest fad
Comparing consoles with phones in this case is a false equivalence. Your phone from 5 years ago will still run instagram, flappy birds, youtube etc. whatever. There's not a huge upgrade. The only reason to upgrade is if you have more of a niche interest in a better camera or you're a gamer that wants games to run their best etc.
A console for 2017 versus a console from 2024 have vastly different potentials for what sort of game you can run on them. TOTK absolutely struggles at times because the switch cant handle it, a switch 2 with updated hardware would be a worthwhile investment to play the game at a stable 60fps.
People want games to get bigger and better and they wont hang on to the same platform forever if they need to upgrade to play the latest stuff
phone apps dont really need much processing power, so there's no real need to upgrade a phone
but games are more demanding, so there's a reason to upgrade if you want to play the latest power hungry games
but there's no reason why a new tetris game needs to be switch 2 only, they should keep supporting switch 1, 95% of all games ever made would work fine on it, even now
Nintendo had 3 different account systems that never actually carried shit over. >Wii games were tied to console >Wii U games had complicated transfer process >DSi games didn't carry over to eShop >Wii U introduced Nintendo Network, used for fricking dick now >3DS finally gets Virtual Console, have to rebuy your SNES games despite having said Nintendo Network account on both systems
More like 8 years or so.
Switch 1 was emulated so quickly because the Tegra X1 SoC was extremely documented by NVIDIA even before the Switch release, Switch 2 will supposedly use a custom SoC.
My prediction is that everyone will be disappointed with the performance. The clock will be less than half the NVIDIA chip max frequency it is based off of. Performance will be less than PS4 or XBone.
It used to but doesn't anymore. Frame generation is the only thing that's currently not that great but that will no doubt also improve substantially in the coming years.
Suck as in you wouldn't want to use it on your $3000 gaming PC? Or suck as in "this handheld console only can do 720p and our options are FSR 1 or uhhh, uhhh..."
Nintendo being on the NVIDIA side is going to be interesting. On PC NVIDIA is winning because of their software advantage over AMD. How long till This will start being a thing on consoles too? If NVIDIA can show why their hardware is great they may be able to get Playstation and Xbox (assuming they don't go 3rd party) to switch over.
Consoles have always gone AMD because it's cheaper.
Nintendo only went with Nvidia for the Switch because there were no low wattage AMD option at the time.
The PS4 ran games at 1080p and the PS4 Pro ran games at 1440p to 4K. The Switch being somewhere between those AND having support for the latest DLSS technology would be an extremely capable device.
And it will be. Hypothetical 2TF in 2024 mean much more performance than 2TF in 2013.
Add to that much better CPU than PS4 and SSD and it will be a portable PS5 in everything but name.
>We are about halfway through ps5's launch so this portable console should be on par with the PS5
homie are you fricking insane
reminder the psp smoked the ds in power and it still was on the level of a ps1, back in the ps3 generation
and the ds couldn't even approach the n64

Just like in the OG Deck? Having an OLED screen didn't drastically increase the battery life. It mostly came from thr smaller SoC
4 months ago
Anonymous
Yes and the og deck has a terrible battery life for more demanding games. oled is slimmer, meaning more room for the components and let them fit in a larger battery and is less power hungry. Not to mention switch is apparently using an even bigger screen for some reason. If the switch is more powerful than the deck, which I don't think is going to happen anyway just from the cost factor alone, it's going to have a terrible battery life for any remotely demanding games.
Anonymous
Ok? I already said why it will have better battery life
>ARM instead of X86 >2x the CPU cores meaning it can run them at lower clocks and have better performance >2x the shaders meaning it can run them at lower clocks and have more power >Custom SoC actually designed to be in a portable device >Smaller node >No PC OS running in the background >Not having to run games through translation layers
Having an OLED screen makes little difference
4 months ago
Anonymous
50% and often better battery life is not a little difference. The deck is extremely efficient at 4-15W draw, you're not going to get much better than that. Even ignoring the unfeasible cost, a more powerful switch using an lcd screen is not going to have good battery life, especially if they don't want the thing to be a brick.
Anonymous
And pray tell why couldn't the switch 2 be even more efficient than the deck, do you really think nvidia who touted themselves as being the most efficient gpu brand on market wouldn't also demonstrated it with the switch 2 and showed up amd in the process.
Anonymous
lol if you buy into nvidia's bullshit, this isn't a comparison between the 40 series and XT series where even there it's not that big and it's a wash at the rest. The only favorable comparison is x86 vs arm due to arm not having to support all the instruction sets x86 does, but that alone is not going to mean much. Even just the original switch, using arm and nvidia, still uses 8-9W in handheld mode vs deck's 4-15W despite it running far less demanding software that they also downclock in handheld mode to save battery life. You are not going to get much more efficient than the deck.
I think will approach the performance of the base PS4 in docked mode.
It will probably be bottlenecked by the memory bandwidth just like the Switch 1
I dont think people realise how impactful the Switch2 approaching "Base PS4" levels is.
The one thing the other consoles have over the switch is raw power. The smaller that gap gets, the less reason there is to own a playstation (Except, lmao, exclusives).
It'd put a fire under Sony but I'd see Microsoft straight up pulling out of the console race
so when's the thousand year door releasing?
i want to buy that so Tanabe can go cry in a corner why his gimmicky sticker shit is less popular than actual Paper Mario.
It has been the the number one complaint about the Switch since its launched, has gotten them into multiple court cases, and had to provide free repairs for.
So, no.
>Chink companies sell gamepads with hall effect joysticks for 40 bucks >The big three still aren't using hall effect joysticks even when they sell their gamepads at 70 bucks
Why fix drift when it means they can get you to spend $70 on another controller after a year or two? Nintendo also won a class action lawsuit over joycon drift, so say good bye to any chance of them being forced to fix it.
no
nintendo will still make switches for years to come, and it's still yet to see a pricecut
you can expect more poor people to buy switches when there's a pricecut and ps2's sales record will get beaten

Remind everyone again what sort of wacky shit he tried to say was happening and was quickly debunked? Because I know there was a few, most of it dealing with Smash.
I don’t have a PC anymore. I don’t even have a laptop. I went low tech/no tech a few years back and I’m back to normal now but never bought this some of this stuff again.
Somebody told me that the point of the Switch was to synthesize the focus points of the Nintendo handhelds and consoles, and that they had to sacrifice the motion aspect of the Wii but that they want it to be more like the Wii in the second round of the Switch. I think he was talking out of his ass but it does seem logical.
the president of nintendo has been talking a lot about easing people into getting the next hardware, and keeping their current playerbase, and stuff like that.
I would assume that they know one of the easiest way to do it would be backwards compatibility, wich would mean usable swith cards, its not like they are strangers to it, iirc you could use gba carts on the ds and ds carts on the 3ds right?
Nintendo of all companies? Absolutely. Nintendo wants all the control they can get and digital only is a good way of getting that. It also cuts out the cost of physical and distribution. It's not a matter of if, but when.
Nintendo relies a lot on brand recognition. Removing Mario and Pokémon from stores is beyond stupid
>>what is merch,
Something that requires the games to sell. You're probably on of those morons who sees that it makes more money without realising why it does.
Do you have any idea of what the makeup is for physical vs digital, the convenience for consumers who couldn't care less and the cost savings and control for corporations? Stop plugging year ears screaming into the void, it's going to happen whether you like it or not. Nintendo's been following suit right behind sony and microsoft with everything else.
damn I must have missed the part where nintendo stops making handhelds, focuses on powerful home consoles only, makes shit non-games with pretty graphics, makes their games multiplats and ups their online subscription prices.

Yeah you did miss the part where they embraced mobile, dlc, paid online, rental services, gutting the soul from their systems, killing backwards compatibility, game transfers and the vc, when they used to say they'd never do any of that. >makes their games multiplats and ups their online subscription prices

So you admit Nintendo was worse under iwata
The older generations who aren’t used to digital purchases are still alive and kicking, physical media will only truly die when none of these generations will be out of the picture, which is still a long way off.

>The older generations who aren’t used to digital purchases are still alive and kicking
I am the older generation. I just recognize the writing on the wall. It's not going to happen all at once, but that's what everyone is heading towards. PC will be the only one left who'll get the blue moon physical releases as a novelty, future consoles won't even have the means to play physical.
>Nintendo's been following suit right behind sony and microsoft with everything else.
Ah yes, I too have a Nintendo switch digital edition. Also convenience? Don't make me laugh, with file sizes nowadays you can only fit about 5 games on the base storage. The cost of adequate storage is being forced on to the consumer.
Depends on how arrogant they are and whether they think they can get away with it. Switch was immensely successful and it killed backwards compatibility and game transfers, while introducing a plethora of cancer besides. Casuals don't give a flying frick about backwards compatibility, but more hardcore people do, but the more hardcore people also tend to be fanboys who will defend them for not having it. They don't want to let people keep their games and ruin their chances of reselling them those same games all over again, but they want to ensure that people transfer over from the switch to the switch 2 so it's going to be purely a business decision based on that tradeoff.
>Switch was immensely successful and it killed backwards compatibility and game transfers
This is disingenuous. It happened because they completely changed form factor and physical medium from Wii U and 3DS. Whenever the format remains the same, they do at least one generation of backwards compatibility.
It's not disingenuous if they cared at all they could've designed a system with backwards compatibility in mind. They could've done backwards compatibility with at least the 3ds, both systems use arm, and that would've made sense with the 80 million 3ds owners. They didn't because they know the vast majority of their audience doesn't care and it's not worth trying to pander to the few that do.
To elaborate on this the wii u had backwards compatibility with the wii, a global phenomenon, and it flopped hard and never recovered.
The 3ds had backwards compatibility with the ds, a system that sold 154 million units, and it flopped so hard at launch nintendo had to publicly apologize, cut the price by $80 and give everyone who bought in early 20 "free" games.
Is it any wonder they didn't care about it with the switch?
DS VC on Wii U was workable because you could use the TV for one screen and the Gamepad screen for another plus the touch screen was resistive and used a stylus, and even then it was mostly very awkward. How did you want 3DS backwards compatibility on Switch? It would have to be handheld only with weird configurations for the two screens, plus having to make the card slot compatible with 3DS cards and the OS capable of running 3DS software. Way more trouble than it's worth and it would still be missing 3D and all the conveniences of the 3DS. Most signs are pointing to Switch 2 being more or less the same as the Switch and thus trivial to carry over Switch compatibility.
>They could've done backwards compatibility with at least the 3ds, both systems use arm
Christ almighty, there's quite a a big hardware difference there you dumbass. Oh but you probably think I'm talking about power right?

Yeah sure because there's definitely going to be a physical hardware difference there.
You're so fricking stupid that you don't even understand that your image goes against your argument because not only would that limit playing 3ds games to handheld but it would be impossible to play anything that used it for more than just inventory. Kid Icarus Uprising for instance would be completely unplayable. >think about poor nintendo and their bottom line here.
Yeah poor Nintendo indeed they have dumbass "fans" like you to deal with.
>Kid Icarus Uprising for instance would be completely unplayable
I played the hell out of kid icarus uprising, it would be perfectly playable. And for the vast majority of games inventory is all that second screen was used for and there are emulator tricks for anything else. Nintendo is a filthy rich corporation who could do it if they cared to and people would've appreciated playing those 3ds games with a higher resolution at better framerates, exactly what people are asking for here with the switch and switch 2. Again you're just trying to defend them because they didn't do it. >Yeah poor Nintendo indeed they have dumbass "fans" like you to deal with.

Then you've never played KIU in your life. There's absolutely no way you could play a fast paced game like that with a single screen set up. No, the vast majority of games YOU played used that which just goes to show how few games you actually played. You probably only played your bing bings and that's it. >there are emulator tricks for anything else
No there isn't. Even now no one wants to play touch heavy games on emulator, it's an absolutely abysmal experience. Even developers know that which is why touch heavy 3/DS games have to pretty much be completely changed just look at games like Etrian or Twewy. >Good thing they have fans like you

I did. Beat the game several times and wrecked shit online with the raptor claws running around lightning fast dodging everything while left handed. Playing on the switch wouldn't be any different, which has a stand and any decent emulator allows you to adjust the size of the screens relative to one another. Actually it'd be even easier since you could play it with your dominant hand since the switch has two analogue sticks. >No, the vast majority of games YOU played used that which just goes to show how few games you actually played
Okay, then give examples of games YOU played that wouldn't work. Preferably ones you can point out as not working on Citra. >Even now no one wants to play touch heavy games on emulator
Yeah that's why they made emulators, nobody wanted to use them. What a waste 🙁 >You think I'm a fan of Nintendo? God get your head out of your ass and stop projecting your fan boy bullshit on to people.
For someone whose not a fan of Nintendo you're sure doing a good job of noisily deepthroating them.

Kid Icarus Uprising would only work on pc or on a 3ds touch screen. End of the argument, shooters on tradional home consoles without gyro controls suck major ass. Kid Icarus was unforgiving on 9.0 or when you played online, I don't want to see this game ruined by being ported on the switch to accommodate for the modern consoleturd

Anonymous
That's your opinion and beside the point but I'll humor it and say if Nintendo cared they could've enabled gyro for it. Valve has steam input, you can enable gyro in literally any game using that, I'm sure Nintendo could manage.

>which has a stand and any decent emulator allows you to adjust the size of the screens relative to one another.
You have no idea what you're talking about do you. >since the switch has two analogue sticks.
Do you have any idea what backwards compatibility even is? Not to mention even if it did work like you think it does the game itself would require an update to be compatible since KIU didn't use the circle pad pro/cstick and at that point you may as well remake or port the thing with actual controls and slap some new content on top for good measure. >Preferably ones you can point out as not working on Citra.
Let me guess, this is where you go >but you can launch them just fine!
Anyway I've already given you a decent list with Etrian alone since it covers untold 1, 2, 4, 5, Nexus, persona q and q2 since they all play the same. You CAN play them but it's just such an abysmally poor experience unless you play with auto mapping which defeats the purpose. >Yeah that's why they made emulators, nobody wanted to use them.
Are you an idiot? Why do you think to one suggests playing games like pokemon ranger or Kirby Canvas Curse on touch screen? And yeah, they aren't 3ds games but that's not the point, the point is that touch screen compatibility is ass without a touch screen. You'd need a fricking drawing tablet with a screen to do it justice and who's going to pay the amount of the console and games itself just to emulate when you can just get the system and hack it? >For someone whose not a fan of Nintendo you're sure doing a good job of noisily deepthroating them.
Great, you're completely delusional and you're projecting your love of Nintendo wiener because you have no standards.

>You have no idea what you're talking about do you.
You clearly don't and you're just trying to argue and defend your precious corporation and I'm bored of it. If Etrian Odyssey, a series I've also played all the games in, is all you have, then you have nothing.

Yes anon, naming an assortment of games is nothing. It's totally not because you can't argue against the fact that these games need updates and control changes to be playable on a single screen set up.
>unironically hype for consoles that are projected to run with unironically 15 year old technology >its okay because you can play in your bed and like be so comfy whole you watch a movie xD
Gaming is fricking dead lmao Nintendo fans see no problem waiting until they are 60 years old for them to catch up to 2014 PCs lmao
That's when the switch 1 was launched so maybe. But traditionally they launch handhelds in March and announce them around October. But maybe they'll do the whole Christmas console rush bullshit like everyone else this time. Not looking forward to getting shot by a Black person over my place in line for the Switch 2. But if it doesn't launch with OLED I'll wait until it gets an OLED refresh.
play it safe or whacky bullshit
When the Switch first launched they said they wanted to do the iPad model and release upgraded versions of the same thing but that was a long time ago so who knows.
it's literally just going to be switch 2
there will be some wacky labo type bullshit but it will be add-ons and not core to the experience
Whacky bullshit. I am expecting something like Nintendo smart home Alexa with Mario's voice bullshit.
Why would someone want Mario's annoying ass?
Every other gen Ninty needs to drive themselves to the verge of bankruptcy. It will happen again.
When did that happen, again?
2011-2017
>nintendo making more profit during the PS2 years
made up graph
You underestimate the Game Boy and the DS.
Even the giga flop that was the Gamecube made a profit. They only ever lost money during the WiiU gen, and that was because the consoles were sold at a loss. Nintendo is never gonna do that again
HE WILL RETURN
Switch with higher clock speeds and VR
If they don't play it safe with a backwards compatible upgrade, they'd be fricking moronic. If they've somehow learned nothing from the Wii U, that'd be really weird.
they can't play it safe, too boring
Satoru is dead and the Switch was the last thing he was involved with. They're only doing ordinary market research type stuff now.
It's a good thing he did die. If he was alive it probably would have been called the Wii S and have no third party support again.
The Switch doesn't have 3rd party support either though. All the big great games like Elden Ring, RE4, Armored Core 6 and more skipped it.
>the big great games like Elden Ring, RE4, Armored Core 6 and more skipped it.
And 90% of the other third party games came to switch either first or simultaneously.
bg3?
Didn't Nintendo debunk these rumors by saying there won't be another console for 2 years?
No.
Nintendo also said there would never be a 3DS XL and announced one 2 weeks later kek
>Nintendo also said there would never be a 3DS XL
C'mon man Americans need bigger devices then a OG 3DS.
They also claimed that the NX was not the successor to the Wii U
Which they didn't.
No, I just rebunked it
Not that I've seen them say that but an announcement in March doesn't preclude it coming out in 2 years, it would be moronic to announce it 2 years in advance though
yeah in 2021
No they always say shit like that so they can get suckers buying up obsoleted hardware right up until the second they announce the new system.
>Finally buys 3DS XL
>1 day later New 3DS XL is announced
Have you forgotten how god awful that shit was last time?
All they said was that they would be focusing on the Switch until the end of the next fiscal year, which would be March 2025. But that doesn't mean they can't announce a new system, the next system will be backwards compatible so the Switch will still be the priority until the Switch 2 starts taking off and they can get games for it out, just like how the first couple years of the PS5 and Xbox Series were just them playing Gen 8 games at 60fps and higher resolutions.
yes, 2 years ago
They always deny new systems because only a moron would say , "yes we're preparing a new system but please continue to buy obsolete switch consoles and games"
People will buy the new thing no matter what so why have a nice day in the foot when people are still happily paying $300 for a switch
Nintendo does this shit all the time, say they aren't doing something then announce it later
switch pro is finally coming out
switch pro oled with a bbl
Literally all they have to do is make and announce Switch 2, not New Switch, not Switch U just put a fricking 2 for once
Super Nintendo Switch is the better option but 2 is acceptable.
Super Nintendo Switch 64 U would be best option
>Super Switch? Is that like a Switch addon or something?
Nintendo learned their mistake with the Wii U.
It will be called Switch 2.
Switch 2 isn't sexy enough if they put super before Nintendo and not switch I think most consoomers will understand the nod
>nintendo
>SUPER nintendo
>ULTRA 64
what comes next? do you go somewhere between and go like, KIIIIIIIING 128 or something?
EMPEROR 256
GOD 512
>KIIIIIIIING
everyone knows kiiiiing combos were like 10 hits and ultra combos were 20+ hits
yea, and a super was 4. king was the best sounding though.
In the Wii U era, Nintendo was targeting a market that had no idea how games worked. They saw “Wii” and assumed it was a part of the same system. People also know that “Super” is being used the same way as the NES to SNES
Ultra switch
Super anything is unacceptable and this fricking weird suggestion of nostalgia naming shit needs to stop.
>Super
I'm pretty sure the Switch2 can't even run current game at 1080p in 60 fps properly
New Super Nintendo Switch 2 XL
you are a brainlet if you can't see the problem of having a verb as your name followed by 2 causes
So what do you suggest? Super Switch? The SS console?
Super Nintendo Switch = SNS which is a no go. SNS is the term that nips use for all social media(Social Networking Service), it'd be too confusing for them. It'd be like if Microsoft called their next console the "X" and people would keep confusing it for the rebranded Twitter.
its just gonna be Switch 2. MAYBE New Switch
Super Nintendo Extreme Switch or SNES for short
The National Socialist gaming system (tm) for the White man.
Whatever, another plastic tablet to waste money on so I get to play smash and mario kart again.
I'm expecting the worse
>its digital only and only uses an sd card instead of SSD
Do you genuinely think that Nintendo of all companies will go digital only?
>You're really saying that after the partnered with denuvo?
So says irdeto but to this day they aren't listed as a middleware dev.
Why in god's name would they want to advertise it?
Anon, middleware for Nintendo is just a developer tool portal.
UHS-II microSD cards would be perfectly viable tbh. It's not like they're going to be using 4K assets so 300 MB/s would be perfectly fine, though costly at first. People thought MicroSD was going to be too expensive at first but look at where we are now, you an get a 512 GB for like $50.
>you can get a 512 GB for like $50
What moron buys SD cards at full price? 500GB cards go on sale frequently for $25 now
One on hand it'd be nice to play stuff like Xenoblade and other stuff in a higher resolution.
But I have some mods like disabling the Vision music in 1, or the pause menu music in 3 that I'd lose out on.
So emulation is probably the way to go maybe.
>exact same look
>better controllers
>backwards compatibility and upscaling software
>all games can now be played at at least 60 fps
compatibility
We will see about that.
literally every first iteration nintendo handheld is compatible with the previous generation (ds even played gameboy games). The wii and wii u were backwards compatible. It will have backwards compatibility
same look
It will look the same but bigger, 8 inch screen this time.
They will use an ARM CPU again, if it doesn't have backwards compatibility for artificial reasons it will fail, DOA on day 1.
>They will use an ARM CPU again, if it doesn't have backwards compatibility for artificial reasons it will fail, DOA on day 1.
Yeah but look at the Wii U, it was backwards compatible with the GameCube by technicality, but didn't do this.
>if it doesn't have backwards compatibility
it does
>if it doesn't have backwards compatibility for artificial reasons it will fail, DOA on day 1.
Not having backwards compatibility on their absolutely massive install base and finally successful for once e-shop would be such a legendarily fricktartded move I'm worried they might actually do it.
Nintendo has been in this sicle of good console and bad console since the gamecube so who knows. They could break the curse with this one.
>CEO-san, we have 150 million happy customers, how do we keep them giving us money?
>CEO: we shut down their online and force them rebuy everything again
Search you heart, you know it cannot be any other way.
The seething would be funny.
Nintendo is moronic but it is not that moronic, considering the PS5 is backwards compatible with the PS4 library.
most people don't give a shit about backwards compatibility
and besides, normies seeing the switch 2 playing switch games would make it seem like a small upgrade or revision just like phones do, and we end up with another wii u situation on our hands
All it needs is a better advertising campaign and a new name. Nintendo should push it hard as they can, display ads on home screens of regular consoles.
it'll have backwards compat. but casuals don't care as much about BC as you think
physical BC is a joke
digital BC is not BC at all, it just means your money was not stolen
>but casuals don't care as much about BC as you think
when they have 7 years worth of games, they will
Casuals aren't going to buy the same gimmick twice so it doesn't matter.
palworld says hi
>buy the same gimmick twice
What about playstation vs playstation 2?
The gimmick for casuals is that it plays Mario kart and they've brought that gimmick generation after generation except the one they just straight up didn't know existed.
>Literally just the Switch, more powerful (like PS4 level), with DLSS. Backward compatible.
Honestly? Best case scenario.
This but add better system options and better interactivity with multiple consoles. Streetpass and a new version of Miiverse would do insanely well
streetpass but you can offload it to a little pokewalker thing
so you can carry just that around with you, go home and sync it with your switch, and see what you got
plus a proper wiimote-style aiming with a sensor on the dock.
and higher performance mode while docked
Who else is going to preorder it and let it sit in the box until an exploit comes out?
Me
>He's planning to buyed a switch 2
Holy ESL
t. "necro" felipe from universo nintendo
apparently they will announce it before GDC (march 18)
All the digital purchases on 1 still going to work on 2, right?
Nope
They wont do the same thing again. They fricked up their first rendition of the digital service store on the Wii with the port to the Wii U, they had a decent start with Wii and lost it all.
The switch was a fresh start and it works fairly well, I dont see them changing shit and losing years of infrastructure work again
I imagine for user ease the storefront will look exactly the same as the switch
>I imagine for user ease the storefront will look exactly the same as the switch
I hope they put back the eshop music they composed for the switch, but ended up removing
I appreciate Nintendo making the Switch UI as fast as possible, but when the eshop still fricking runs like shit, there's no excuse to add the music again.
dont care!
no, nintendo always makes new internet service thing for each console
Frick, I got and loaded up on 1 just this Christmas.
>All the digital purchases on 1 still going to work on 2, right?
Nintendo has the tendency to treat the two equal so if there isn't physical backwards compatibility, then there won't be digital backwards compatibility.
yes
thats because they fricked up wii -> wii u
and wii u -> switch
they have a much better accounts and content delivery system now
there's no way they spent 7 years porting old games just to start over
one of the design goals for the switch was creating creating software like ios/android that you buy once and can still run on future hardware, something they haven't managed to do well in the past, requiring them to redo everything the VC on wii had because of hardware differences and the dumb accounts system they had before
>they have a much better accounts and content delivery system now
They literally had an account system that worked just fine during the wii/wii u eras. Hell, it was better because it actually had decent reward incentives and they had backwards compatibility and game transfers back then. Then that account system conveniently got killed off right around a year leading up to the switch.
Whether they have backwards compatibility will have nothing to do with their account system, that's just some bullshit their feeding people.
yes
that was before, they've said it was important to keep to build on their online stuff since it brings in so much revenue
They've confirmed it like 15 times already and you still go on with your shit
Wait... Switch does cloud saves?
>Wait... Switch does cloud saves?
Only if you pay for it.
>PSN and Nintendo tying cloud saving to their subscriptions
"At least" Nintendo is only 20 bucks, but Sony is a fricking scam at goddamn $80 minimum.
Who the frick uses cloud saves anyways?
Its a useless feature
For a console with only one active system at a time yeah. It's a fricking godsend on pc, and free.
Pay up goy
im still bitter they lost my "limited edition" sin and punishment VC game when sending it in for repairs cause the disc drive died
All it has to be is a portable Xbox Series S power and it's literally unironically over for Microsoft
I can't wait to hack my Switch 2 so I can use it like a steam deck
The Steam Deck can barely emulate Switch 1.
This is coming from a PChad that steals all tendie games.
>PC chud thinks he's a Chad
Lmao
I will keep playing TOTK at 4K@60fps tendie.
Enjoy your 540p@20fps "experience"
>he boguhted a PC
Sounds soulless. Nothing can beat playing a game as it was intended on the hardware it was designed for.
>Nothing can beat playing a game as it was intended on the hardware it was designed for.
>plays at 540p with 20fps stutters
yeah no thanks
>60fps
Yeah don’t think so. Maybe in one or two closed off areas of the game.
Also enjoy tons of graphical glitches and crashes, little man.
>Also enjoy tons of graphical glitches and crashes, little man.
I have played it for 64 hours without a single crash or glitch, cope.
The first village you encounter once you descend the sky islands had very low framerates, to this day, it still does
Not on my machine.
Sure, but your machine doesn't reflect the majority of everyone experiences with the game once the game leaked
TOTK ran at 60FPS but you also needed a Ryzen 9(5900x or better) + high end gpu for that to happen
with a ryzen 7 5800x3d, i get 60 fps stable with drops to 50's in towns like looking landing. you do not need a ryzen 9 to play this game on pc lol.
hard on the eyes. what is this dogshit resolution?
Had to lower it to fit the webm limits, original res was higher. Wish this site would be like 8chn and allow a 20MB size limit
stop making shit up the emulators didnt release the patches to properly play the game until release they were full of glitches and hard fps drops the game was unplayable
>I'm a troony revisionist
lmao keep seething tendie
here I'm gonna spoonfeed you even more:
https://arch.b4k.co/v/search/subject/ZELDA%20LEAK%20THREAD/
Now tell me, someone who finished the game one day before the release or all of these people how the game was "unplayable". The depths visual bug was fixed very quickly, so yes the game was running literally flawlessly and better than on a switch before the release. In fact, the depths looked better and more atmospheric when the area was darker
You're probably someone who still uses Yuzu. In that case you get what you fricking deserve. This emulator shouldn't exist because they steal code from Ryujinx and waste their patron funding on escorts. Meanwhile Ryujinx has a good philosophy development and had the game working 2 weeks before release.
half the threads are people complaining about crashes good job proving my point?
I love it when pchuds pretend they do this. Post a webm of your save file of the game. Load it up, run clockwise three times, then drop an apple.
You won't. None of you ever do. You know why? Because "PC chads" are all larping poorgays
nta but heres my link.
That's a screenshot, reading comprehension anon, I want to see it running at 4k 60fps
yea not gonna bother trying to learn how to make a webm for you lol. there are inevitable frame drops to the 55's and 50's in kariko and lookout landing I will admit. but the game is definitely playable at 4k 60 fps on my ryzen 7.
Nobody has anything to prove to you, tendie. Seethe
Depends on how he looks in real life and acts.
But the way he acts here... He sounds like a chud like the rest of us. 😀
>reading comprehension
So is mine.
t. defeated Xbox owner looking for a new team
releasing late september
games year 1
>metroid prime 4 actual console exclusive
>zelda oracle of seasons/ages remake by the links awakening team (multiplat with switch 1)
>mario odyssey 2 (multiplat with switch 1)
If Metroid exists, it's more likely than anything else to still release on the original Switch because it's already been announced for that platform
>releasing late september
could be
but may also release earlier in juneish
They'll do a TP/Botw and release it for both. As a final title for one console and the first for the next
Would be brave of Nintendo to launch with a Metroid title though. Usually its Mario or Zelda. As much as the gaming community seems to be hyped for Prime 4, its still a niche market compared to mario and zelda
>mario odyssey 2 (multiplat with switch 1)
I hope you're wrong on this
cappy fricking sucks and odyssey is the weakest 3d mario
>cappy fricking sucks
Filtered troony. have a nice day.
oracle of seasons/ages remake by the links awakening team (multiplat with switch 1)
The ship sailed on Mario Odyssey 2 half a decade ago, let it go
if t can play botw at 60 fps then i will buy
Trying to go back to botw is fricking rough, game is way more boring than I remember.
How many years before people are bored of the open world style and they start wanting more old school Zelda?
How will DLC for Switch games be handled if you buy a game like say Smash on the Switch 2? Will we still be able to buy DLC for that game or just the base game only?
I mean we still need to know how BC/past purchases are going to work. Latest Furukawa interview had him explicitly mention the Wii U and the transition between consoles. Each systems architecture has been different enough to the point where they couldn't do BC, but I feel like Nintendo has been talking a lot about making sure Nintendo finally settles on an actual unified account system.
I will buy on two conditions
1. A new Warioware game
2. Mario Maker 3
Beyond that they can eat shit
You literally just got a WarioWare game stupid homosexual
I hope they don't go all digital
they're not resetting the library
https://www.nintendolife.com/news/2014/02/iwata_looking_to_emulate_ios_and_android_with_a_common_platform_for_future_nintendo_hardware
do you have to rebuy your phone apps if you get a new phone?
no, because it has an accounts system that knows what you own (something they totally fricked up on the wii and wii u)
UNDERSTAND?
https://www.theverge.com/2023/6/27/23775415/nintendos-switch-accounts-next-generation-furukawa-shareholders
https://mynintendonews.com/2024/02/07/nintendo-president-reiterates-the-importance-of-nintendo-accounts/
>no, because it has an accounts system that knows what you own (something they totally fricked up on the wii and wii u)
Makes me genuinely sad that Iwata was talking about the switch as a concept here but he never lived to see it release.
>iwata looking to emulate ios and android with a common platform for future nintendo hardware
>Wii games were tied to console
>Wii U games had complicated transfer process
>DSi games didn't carry over to eShop
>Wii U introduced Nintendo Network, used for fricking dick now
>3DS finally gets Virtual Console, have to rebuy your SNES games despite having said Nintendo Network account on both systems
yes, they fricked up, but they seem determined to fix it with the switch
>my body is ready..
..to bbc?
I wanted the Switch 2 for years but now I'm not sure. Switch emulation is so good
>wanted switch for so long
>gotta pc
>feel meh about switch 2 now
Hmm. Hope the emulation for switch 2 is good
It will be good but it will take time so don't expect to emulate anything for a year or two
True. It probably will only have like one or two games anyway in the first year. Nintendo will frick up the launch release window. It's what they do
More like 8 years or so.
Those systems didn't have DLSS support. The Switch 2 will be able to perform much better than its hardware would if it had to run everything natively.
Doesn't DLSS suck at lower resolutions? Like using 1440p to upscale to 4k looks better than native, but 640p to 800p doesnt.
It will look better than whatever temporal upscaler Nintendo is using now.
I think TOTK uses FSR 1 which is pretty bad.
It used to but doesn't anymore. Frame generation is the only thing that's currently not that great but that will no doubt also improve substantially in the coming years.
Suck as in you wouldn't want to use it on your $3000 gaming PC? Or suck as in "this handheld console only can do 720p and our options are FSR 1 or uhhh, uhhh..."
yes, even quality mode for 1080p is unusable
t. RTX 3060
I think will approach the performance of the base PS4 in docked mode.
It will probably be bottlenecked by the memory bandwidth just like the Switch 1
We already know that it will be somewhere between a PS4 and PS4 Pro.
That's pretty disheartening tbqthwy
The PS4 ran games at 1080p and the PS4 Pro ran games at 1440p to 4K. The Switch being somewhere between those AND having support for the latest DLSS technology would be an extremely capable device.
It's still disappointing. We are about halfway through ps5's launch so really this thing should be between ps4 pro and ps5 power at this stage.
Nintendo will ALWAYS behind for pricing purposes, after a decade I don't understand why some people don't understand this.
I do undemanding this, but Nintendo wants to be 2 gens behind instead of just one?
doesnt matter, they still make the best games regardless
old cheap hardware is how you get 140 million ds/wii/switch owners
$300 is too much for nintendo
>Switch released 4 years after PS4 and was PS3.5
>Switch 2 will release 4 years after PS5 and will be PS4.5
Dunno what your issue is
beyond PS4 quality, there's not much difference visually
good enough
And it will be. Hypothetical 2TF in 2024 mean much more performance than 2TF in 2013.
Add to that much better CPU than PS4 and SSD and it will be a portable PS5 in everything but name.
>We are about halfway through ps5's launch so this portable console should be on par with the PS5
homie are you fricking insane
reminder the psp smoked the ds in power and it still was on the level of a ps1, back in the ps3 generation
and the ds couldn't even approach the n64
Switch is a home console first
It’ll be too much for a handheld
If it can be powerful than the Deck, it's already a plus.
It's not going to be, the battery life would be dogshit.
>ARM instead of X86
>2x the CPU cores meaning it can run them at lower clocks and have better performance
>2x the shaders meaning it can run them at lower clocks and have more power
>Custom SoC actually designed to be in a portable device
>Smaller node
>No PC OS running in the background
>Not having to run games through translation layers
>fat chonky lcd screen sucking up more power and using up more space
Just like in the OG Deck? Having an OLED screen didn't drastically increase the battery life. It mostly came from thr smaller SoC
Ok? I already said why it will have better battery life
Having an OLED screen makes little difference
50% and often better battery life is not a little difference. The deck is extremely efficient at 4-15W draw, you're not going to get much better than that. Even ignoring the unfeasible cost, a more powerful switch using an lcd screen is not going to have good battery life, especially if they don't want the thing to be a brick.
And pray tell why couldn't the switch 2 be even more efficient than the deck, do you really think nvidia who touted themselves as being the most efficient gpu brand on market wouldn't also demonstrated it with the switch 2 and showed up amd in the process.
lol if you buy into nvidia's bullshit, this isn't a comparison between the 40 series and XT series where even there it's not that big and it's a wash at the rest.
It's going to use a lot of NVIDIA tricks to do this.
Will be announced in the Direct next week. Or just dropped on twitter
Get ready for joycon drift 2
Will they be fixing drifting with this one?
It has been the the number one complaint about the Switch since its launched, has gotten them into multiple court cases, and had to provide free repairs for.
So, no.
supposedly it has magnet sticks, so no more drift bullshit
Personally the moment it starts drifting I just pull off the good ol' Switcheroo on Amazon or GAME Uk
Changed 3 joycons this way
finally they got rid of the annoying +/- buttons
always disliked them
more links to the patent?
do we finally get analog triggers?
>finally they got rid of the annoying +/- buttons
I did like them. 🙁
man they really should make a bump on the grip...
>Chink companies sell gamepads with hall effect joysticks for 40 bucks
>The big three still aren't using hall effect joysticks even when they sell their gamepads at 70 bucks
Big three wants your controller to break so you can buy another one 5 months later for 70€
Why fix drift when it means they can get you to spend $70 on another controller after a year or two? Nintendo also won a class action lawsuit over joycon drift, so say good bye to any chance of them being forced to fix it.
If they announce a new console, will the original Switch suddenly stop being available for purchase?
no
nintendo will still make switches for years to come, and it's still yet to see a pricecut
you can expect more poor people to buy switches when there's a pricecut and ps2's sales record will get beaten
children, morons and moronic children will love that (no one else will)
STHUPER BTHNN NNNN NUNUNUN
SUPER NINTENDO SWITCH
it feels like the switch only came out yesterday.
nintendo should pay more attention to developing games rather than releasing new hardware.
>it feels like the switch only came out yesterday.
>yesterday
and nothing to mark the time with.
Nintendo Swap
Cum Swap?
>DLSS fueled 30 fps 480p gaming
Emulator when?
2-3 years for emulators to maybe boot up games
Run games from start to finish(with obscene pc hardware required)? +5 years territory
>Stealth
Remind everyone again what sort of wacky shit he tried to say was happening and was quickly debunked? Because I know there was a few, most of it dealing with Smash.
This, anyone still believing any nintendo "leakers" after at least 4 YEARS of nothing should be lobotomized.
he's quoting universo nintendo who's had a decent streak of leaking Direct dates
Nuts that I’m going to be able to buy a Switch 2 before I can play GBA Pokémon on my Switch.
You can play them on your pc.
I don’t have a PC anymore. I don’t even have a laptop. I went low tech/no tech a few years back and I’m back to normal now but never bought this some of this stuff again.
You do you buddy
Should've modded it, I played Emerald Rogue, Unbound, and Radical Red on switch.
Hoping for a Wii U situation, it would be so fricking funny
Will Nintendo be able to succeed in two generations in a row? Or will this be a massive flop like the N64, GameCube, or Wii U?
Are you ready for more bing bing wahoo söyslop nostalgia bait? Maybe we can finally play BotW at a stable 30 fps at 1080p
if it's unhackable then Ganker will hate it
Nothing is unhackable for long
No ones hacked the Xbox or the Series consoles. I would think people would want to since they could be turned into pretty decent pcs
What are the odds of the next console being backwards compatible with OG switch carts?
100%
the president of nintendo has been talking a lot about easing people into getting the next hardware, and keeping their current playerbase, and stuff like that.
I would assume that they know one of the easiest way to do it would be backwards compatibility, wich would mean usable swith cards, its not like they are strangers to it, iirc you could use gba carts on the ds and ds carts on the 3ds right?
90%
Nintendo relies a lot on brand recognition. Removing Mario and Pokémon from stores is beyond stupid
>Removing Mario and Pokémon from stores
>what is merch, something that makes them more money than the games themselves
>>what is merch,
Something that requires the games to sell.
Also only a matter of time.
>they embraced mobile, dlc, paid online, rental services, gutting the soul from their systems, killing backwards compatibility
Did you miss the part where after iwata died they dialled back on just about all of that? Especially the mobile games and paid dlc.
>Did you miss the part where after iwata died they dialled back on just about all of that?
Of course I didn't, it's exactly what I'm talking about. The one who cared about all that is gone, it's a different nintendo now.
>The one who cared about all that is gone, it's a different nintendo now.
The cost of adequate storage is being forced on to the consumer.
>hmm yes I will buy a switch 2 and mario odyssey 2 because I liked the mario plush I bought at bestbuy
>Christ almighty, there's quite a a big hardware difference there you dumbass
gays like you will say the exact same shit if the switch 2 isn't backwards compatible. Handwave it away, defend nintendo, why don't you just go play the switch? You still have the switch right? What do you need switch games on the switch 2 for? Christ almighty jimminy willickers batman it's not like the switch 2 takes your switch away from you jeez, it's no big deal, think about poor nintendo and their bottom line here.
>only argument is a game that doesn't use the touch screen for anything important.
Tendies everyone.
>both systems use arm,
Yes and one also has two screens
>and that would've made sense with the 80 million 3ds owners.
>gays like you will say the exact same shit if the switch 2 isn't backwards compatible
Good thing they have fans like you on the opposite end sucking them off balls deep.
>it would be perfectly playable.
Then you've never played KIU in your life. There's absolutely no way you could play a fast paced game like that with a single screen set up. You could barely play it with the dual screen set up which is why they included they stand in the first place.
>And for the vast majority of games inventory is all that second screen was used for
No, the vast majority of games YOU played used that which just goes to show how few games you actually played.
>Good thing they have fans like you
You think I'm a fan of Nintendo? God get your head out of your ass and stop projecting your fan boy bullshit on to people.
It's kind of funny people here think that you have to like a company to like their games.
>Then you've never played KIU in your life
What a waste 🙁
>You think I'm a fan of Nintendo? God get your head out of your ass and stop projecting your fan boy bullshit on to people.
That's your opinion and beside the point but I'll humor it and say if Nintendo cared they could've enabled gyro for it. Valve has steam input, you can enable gyro in literally any game using that, I'm sure Nintendo could manage.
kiu would be better with a wiimote and nunchucks
t. just booted it up for the first time in ages yesterday and played through the first few chapters
>which has a stand and any decent emulator allows you to adjust the size of the screens relative to one another.
Let me guess, this is where you go
>but you can launch them just fine!
I hope they make an app for the switch that lets us use it like a Wii U gamepad for the switch 2 (for games like Xenoblade X and DS games)
>unironically hype for consoles that are projected to run with unironically 15 year old technology
>its okay because you can play in your bed and like be so comfy whole you watch a movie xD
Gaming is fricking dead lmao Nintendo fans see no problem waiting until they are 60 years old for them to catch up to 2014 PCs lmao
it's not like I'm buying this piece of shit but handhelds are the only piece of technology where you see gen on gen improvements
wasted
They’re clearing out stock in stores, so I bet they’re getting ready to put up some new games this year.
It will be just a slightly bigger screen
8% performance boost
Less drift but still exist
5% extra battery capacity
Backwards compatibility
Das it mane
I'm so blackpilled by console manufacturers
That's when the switch 1 was launched so maybe. But traditionally they launch handhelds in March and announce them around October. But maybe they'll do the whole Christmas console rush bullshit like everyone else this time. Not looking forward to getting shot by a Black person over my place in line for the Switch 2. But if it doesn't launch with OLED I'll wait until it gets an OLED refresh.
I'll be waiting for the Switch2.2 LXL OLED (forma de CFW)
I'm surprised if true. I thought April or May, Nintendo would wait until the fiscal year ended.
frick you dude. I'm not going to pay extra money for something I already own
I shan't be buying one until the mid life revision + limited edition
