    Divinity: Original Sin 3
The game they were actually going to make, instead of repurposing it to be Baldur's Gate 3.

They just cancelled a Divinity game

I doubt they're going back to the series so soon now that they're more widely recognized with Baldur's Gate

Hopefully now that they've secured their funding hopefully they now have the means to properly construct Swen's Magnum Opus: the Dragon Knight Saga.
Game with amazing ambition that just fell short on a technical level.

it seems that they learned from CP77 release and just left the game in EA for like 3 years

It's such a smart move to do.
Release a small chunk of content in EA - not enough to spoil too much, but enough to test game mechanics and major bugs.
Get money from that EA to fund development and get free testing from thousands of people.
I knew it would pay off for them.

as much as i'd prefer dos3 to baldur's gate 3, it feels like dos3 wouldn't be nearly as popular. so idk what they're gonna do

Swen said he wanted to work on something smaller in scope next before taking on a massive project again. There might be some side-DLC for BG3 - probably nothing that brings you over lv.12 though, as the DnD rules get difficult to impliment in a balanced way after that.
I'd fricking love it if EA let them licence Dragon Age after they shutter Bioware but it's a fricking pipedream.

Probably going to be forced to make DnD modules until they go out of business.
WotC is using them to test their own module system (they want to undo tabletop simulator).

They either choke and get bought out by rat faced coin counters or keep on trucking for another 10 years until the core people who are passionate leave because of family/age/burnout and get slowly replaced by incompetent ideologues or 9-5 "professionals" who are SO SO PASSIONATE about working at the vaunted LARIAN STUDIOS who will inevitably end up lowering the quality of games.

Are those the guys who were mad at their players for picking human male characters in a game where every other race is just a human with a gimmick, like human but green or human but short?

Can't believe you anons are still pretending that was the point of the post.
It was literally just a standard "hello fellow gamers, looking through the stats we found something we thought was funny" kind of marketing post.
There was a tiny bit of snark in it but you're reaching a lot to imply they were mad about it. It was clearly more of a "we made a fantasy game with all these carefully designed races and fantastical creatures, but in the end 80% of you just picked an average human".
They were just poking fun at how uncreative the players were, but I guess humor is illegal in your crowd at this point.

Considering that amount of clipping that occurs with the pointed ears, horns, tails, and so on, I don't think those options were carefully designed.

It took them 6 years to create a Divinity Clone with a D&D skin. Divinity is great and all and I'm glad more people are getting acquainted to it, but don't expect them to pump out games back to back. The next game is Divinity 3, so expect a new property to come out in a decade from now.
