Why does Shadowbringers feel so lacking in content to previous expansions? I'm doing lvl 78 dungeon and there's only been 1 extreme and like 3-4 dungeons...

The expansion endgame content is at the tenth level so if it started at 70 which was the end of Stormblood, it'll be 80 where most of the expansion content is for Shadowbringers.
Because every expansion has had less content than the last and people still give SE a pass for it even though they don't have the Covid excuse anymore.
Just watch when Dawntrail somehow manages to have even less than Endwalker, people will still manage to find some kind of fricking cope.

homie I am. I built a new PC for Starfield and CP2077 Phantom Liberty, burned out on Starfield, and the fricking day before PL comes out I got the urge to play FF14 again after over half a year. And somehow I didn't kill myself having to completely reconfigure settings, binds, and abilities because I couldn't transfer those over from my old PC. Then I couldn't get back into my old character and decided to make a new one promising myself I wouldn't make a cute girl again. I spent half of yesterday on Cyberpunk and the other half on 14.

There are a lot of pros and cons to making a character on one of the new DC's. Basically they're brand new so server culture doesn't exist, you will be part of seeing what the server becomes, you'll get to know the people on your server as there will be far fewer than on old servers, you'll be in a very comfortable and good position for when Dawntrail releases, you'll have good queues to play, newer players will be filtered towards your DC.
Cons though, it'll feel pretty empty until 7.0 releases, duty finder queues will be really long if you're going through the story, (far better to go through PF or to ask in the city states, or get into an FC as DF will be barren) so this is a con, but could also be seen as an opportunity if you aren't a complete introvert and are willing to initiate.
Being teased by the team mom about her shrinking you probably still takes the cake. Either that or one of the several giant woman raid bosses we've had.

It's difficult but you'll eventually click with folks. Party Finder is a great way to meet folks who will clear content with you, who you can then start a conversation with if you click - I'd recommend smaller FCs. I'm in one now that's doing static savage runs and the FC is only about 30 people big. Most are kinda wierd as expected but they're good people. Just try and avoid any with folks that have relationships in them, that's just asking for everything to fall apart after a while.
When are they going to make it so you can glam items directly from the fricking armoire instead of having to remove items from it or use up valuable glam plate slots to glam from it
XI has the best system for this - if you have a piece of gear, you can glam something else to look like it. Doesn't matter what storage it's in, if you have it you can glam to it.
Couldn't play for most of this year because internet connection was dogshit in current PoR. Logged on, didn't get DCed, finished Dun Scaith and got some tomes. If all goes well, I'll be able to play regularly again. Want to do some solo Eureka Orthos and Ocean Fishing again. I'm glad.

There's more skill expression in Solo DD than Ultimate raids. You actually have to respond to what is happening and adjust. In Ultimates you just have to execute a very elaborate battle plan, but it's extremely rare you can actually make up for someone else's or even your own mistake since the margin of error is so small

There's not any "skill expression" to TOP since all the Dynamis stack juggling is when you can't even hit the boss and all the contingencies you have to make due to people being out of range for healing/mit cooldowns got removed in 6.4 when the range on almost everything got doubled.
Honestly, I disagree. The DPS check is far too brutal to not optimize the fight out the ass on a personal level, although it varies depending on the job you play of course. True North usage on the first phase is a real nightmare and casters eat so much shit during Panto most players have sworn off playing BLM during prog. Being able to prog efficiently should count as skill expression too. A shit player may eventually be able to clear an Ultimate but the difference with a good player is that he will have taken 30 more pulls to grasp a mechanic while squeezing his DPS to the marrow.

This, I'd say a good half of our prog was losing to the DPS check because one little tiny thing went wrong or our combined crit rate was too low. We ended up swapping jobs to something more consistent to remove a lot of these time wasting wipes but even then all 8 people HAD to be perfect to get through it. If you fricked up slightly and someone else had to spend more then that's less for the next phase, then the next, and the next, it piled up fast.
Ultimates (new ones mainly) are so incredibly strict that it's easy for someone to say there is no expression but that really isn't the case. You have to know how to play your job at the highest level and be able to make no mistakes with your rotation and cd timing down to the split second without even thinking about it because your brainpower has to entirely go into doing mechanics which are not static.

We had a BLM for most of our prog and even in P1 it was hilarious, at times we'd randomly be 5% ahead and have to panic hold, other times enrage wipe at 2% and it was all down to their crits. We even had one really random pull where he just died as pantokrator ended because no one was paying attention and somehow everyone was critting.

They tested it but I don't think they accounted for the non "meta" setups and at the time how big the gap was between tanks dps wise. Keep in mind at least for Phase 1 this is with ALL EIGHT people potting and you could still miss the DPS check.

Dunno man, sounds like a skill issue. We never really had a problem with the DPS check, so much that we'd often have to hold DPS for anywhere between 10-15 seconds at the end of phase 2, and hold a bit at phase 3 and would sometimes see phase 4 comfortably hit sub 15%.

We were SCH/SGE/GNB/DRK/MNK/DRG/BRD/BLM, but we also had clears where our BLM played RDM and it didn't really feel a whole lot tighter, not so much that we were ever failing checks.
The only ONLY thing I hate about this fight is the stupid fricking p1 -> p2 transition not rolling over my gcd fully so any alignment I have to shift around to account for variance becomes insanely fricking awkward every odd pull

It's almost kind of a shame though because the ocean fishing one is pretty cool but it requires 3 million points. If they have another plate for it that'd be cool, I'd like that over a mount probably.

You get a new glowing rod every expansion that basically requires you to collect 95% of all the fish (which includes a good chunk of big fish) up to the respective patch.

They're doing 100% of the body and 100% of the gear, though they said they'll be doing catchup on the gear and just do "most of it" on the patch.

Nah, get your 6 extra edge of shadow in as DRK by abusing death and healer LB3 amd its gg. Progging effectively only matters for world first, and the average person who even does multiple ultimate clears doesn't have the time available for 16 hours of prog for a full week+
Took me 30 wins to hit crystal this season, there are people like Careless Whisker who grind upwards of 400 wins a season and still never make it. It's only a hamster wheel if you're a shitter.

The general skill increases, especially due to the derank from S3 onward. Personally I'm not a fan but I will say diamond is way more competitive than it used to be.

If you're A tank what's on the left, B tank on the middle/top/bottom and if you're C tank on the right. But mostly just tank what the other tanks aren't tanking.
The only alliance boss where one specific alliance is expected to tank is the final boss of LotA, where ideally B tanks him in front of their platform, but it's not that big of a deal if they don't
My strat is to run ahead of everyone and to pull immediately, if there is someone else trying to be a big boy tank i drop stance. Otherwise some of these goobers start a countdown timer, aint no one got time for that

LB takes for fricking ever compared to swiftcast. You want the backup healer and a tank up at least while you cast it otherwise the boss will one shot you.

WoW beats XIV on the technical front. You're not dealing with aliased textures on outfits, obviously tiled ground textures, and the flattest shadow cascading setup in any modern MMO. Aesthetically I don't know wtf they're talking about though, as XIV has that beat hands down even though its selection of outfits post-3.0 is schizophrenic at best.

Do yourself a favor: go to Fort Jobb, and just fly straight up, and look around. There's this one terrain piece with an arch that they re-used at least 100 times, both in the areas you can access, and in the distance. Whoever built Lakeland's terrain needs to be kneecapped.

I can't even say justified shit about XIV, such as the game is too heavily reliant on castbar names to know how a mechanic is going to function vs. just having a visual telegraph, without you guys having a hernia. The whole Larboard vs. Starboard meme wouldn't exist if Omega was prepping fire off the relevant flank, for example.

That's what I'm saying. The castle is clearly not a solo instance because LS had already been confirmed to change midway.
I'm almost certain part of the dungeon will be a recreation of Golbez/Durante's past (perhaps triggered by interacting with the crystal Zero dropped?), because it also shows the party fighting the four fiends. As for it being in the present, well, I guess Barbariccia and Scarmiglione could somehow emerge from their crystals, but Rubicante and Cagnazzo were killed on the source. Their souls have returned to the aetherial sea.
The large majority of the game is solo questing and watching cutscenes other than when you have to do an easy mode dungeon related to the main story.
Everything that isn't super high end optional raiding is done through a queue menu that automatically pairs you with a party of whatever roles you need. You can play it totally solo, and if you just ignore chat you can pretty much treat it as just a single player game.

The expansion endgame content is at the tenth level so if it started at 70 which was the end of Stormblood, it'll be 80 where most of the expansion content is for Shadowbringers.

There are a lot of pros and cons to making a character on one of the new DC's. Basically they're brand new so server culture doesn't exist, you will be part of seeing what the server becomes, you'll get to know the people on your server as there will be far fewer than on old servers, you'll be in a very comfortable and good position for when Dawntrail releases, you'll have good queues to play, newer players will be filtered towards your DC.
Cons though, it'll feel pretty empty until 7.0 releases, duty finder queues will be really long if you're going through the story, (far better to go through PF or to ask in the city states, or get into an FC as DF will be barren) so this is a con, but could also be seen as an opportunity if you aren't a complete introvert and are willing to initiate.

It's difficult but you'll eventually click with folks. Party Finder is a great way to meet folks who will clear content with you, who you can then start a conversation with if you click - I'd recommend smaller FCs. I'm in one now that's doing static savage runs and the FC is only about 30 people big. Most are kinda wierd as expected but they're good people. Just try and avoid any with folks that have relationships in them, that's just asking for everything to fall apart after a while.

There's more skill expression in Solo DD than Ultimate raids. You actually have to respond to what is happening and adjust. In Ultimates you just have to execute a very elaborate battle plan, but it's extremely rare you can actually make up for someone else's or even your own mistake since the margin of error is so small
You haven't cleared TOP if you think clearing an ultimate is just "follow guide until you kill boss".

Honestly, I disagree. The DPS check is far too brutal to not optimize the fight out the ass on a personal level, although it varies depending on the job you play of course. True North usage on the first phase is a real nightmare and casters eat so much shit during Panto most players have sworn off playing BLM during prog. Being able to prog efficiently should count as skill expression too. A shit player may eventually be able to clear an Ultimate but the difference with a good player is that he will have taken 30 more pulls to grasp a mechanic while squeezing his DPS to the marrow.

This, I'd say a good half of our prog was losing to the DPS check because one little tiny thing went wrong or our combined crit rate was too low. We ended up swapping jobs to something more consistent to remove a lot of these time wasting wipes but even then all 8 people HAD to be perfect to get through it. If you fricked up slightly and someone else had to spend more then that's less for the next phase, then the next, and the next, it piled up fast.
Ultimates (new ones mainly) are so incredibly strict that it's easy for someone to say there is no expression but that really isn't the case. You have to know how to play your job at the highest level and be able to make no mistakes with your rotation and cd timing down to the split second without even thinking about it because your brainpower has to entirely go into doing mechanics which are not static.

We had a BLM for most of our prog and even in P1 it was hilarious, at times we'd randomly be 5% ahead and have to panic hold, other times enrage wipe at 2% and it was all down to their crits. We even had one really random pull where he just died as pantokrator ended because no one was paying attention and somehow everyone was critting.
They tested it but I don't think they accounted for the non "meta" setups and at the time how big the gap was between tanks dps wise. Keep in mind at least for Phase 1 this is with ALL EIGHT people potting and you could still miss the DPS check.

Dunno man, sounds like a skill issue. We never really had a problem with the DPS check, so much that we'd often have to hold DPS for anywhere between 10-15 seconds at the end of phase 2, and hold a bit at phase 3 and would sometimes see phase 4 comfortably hit sub 15%.
And you probably had a NIN, MCH, DRK, GNB, something of that nature. Due to how strict the DPS checks were your comp made a massive difference.
We were SCH/SGE/GNB/DRK/MNK/DRG/BRD/BLM, but we also had clears where our BLM played RDM and it didn't really feel a whole lot tighter, not so much that we were ever failing checks.
The only ONLY thing I hate about this fight is the stupid fricking p1 -> p2 transition not rolling over my gcd fully so any alignment I have to shift around to account for variance becomes insanely fricking awkward every odd pull

There's not any "skill expression" to TOP since all the Dynamis stack juggling is when you can't even hit the boss and all the contingencies you have to make due to people being out of range for healing/mit cooldowns got removed in 6.4 when the range on almost everything got doubled.

The only alliance boss where one specific alliance is expected to tank is the final boss of LotA, where ideally B tanks him in front of their platform, but it's not that big of a deal if they don't
My strat is to run ahead of everyone and to pull immediately, if there is someone else trying to be a big boy tank i drop stance. Otherwise some of these goobers start a countdown timer, aint no one got time for that

LB takes for fricking ever compared to swiftcast. You want the backup healer and a tank up at least while you cast it otherwise the boss will one shot you.

There's this one terrain piece with an arch that they re-used at least 100 times, both in the areas you can access, and in the distance. Whoever built Lakeland's terrain needs to be kneecapped.

I'm almost certain part of the dungeon will be a recreation of Golbez/Durante's past (perhaps triggered by interacting with the crystal Zero dropped?), because it also shows the party fighting the four fiends. As for it being in the present, well, I guess Barbariccia and Scarmiglione could somehow emerge from their crystals, but Rubicante and Cagnazzo were killed on the source. Their souls have returned to the aetherial sea.

Start with the free trial. In a week it's getting updated, so you'll have the base game and two full expansions and not need to pay a fricking cent.
The large majority of the game is solo questing and watching cutscenes other than when you have to do an easy mode dungeon related to the main story.
Everything that isn't super high end optional raiding is done through a queue menu that automatically pairs you with a party of whatever roles you need. You can play it totally solo, and if you just ignore chat you can pretty much treat it as just a single player game.
In a couple weeks I'm pretty sure you'll even be able to choose to play all the story dungeons with a party of actual NPCs instead of players, if you really want.
How many bosses did the original Lunar Subterrane have again? Did we fight some already like we fought X-Zone's Twintania before X-Zone happened in XIV?

I wish they would improve LB bar gain across the board so you could actually see it in content that isn't an Alliance Raid (coinflip based on which one you get) or a Normal Raid (only current content)

The one thing I miss the most about base PSO2 and wish FFXIV Gold saucer had is their Casino games.

Can you really call FFXIV gold saucer a casino if you literally never bet anything? You can only gain MGP

You can lose it very slowly if you lose triple triad matches. You get some MGP back from losing, but matches cost more than that (i think)
I haven't played mini cactpot in years since I got the achievement, but I think there too it's possible to lose?
They reduced the price of the minicactpot, now it's always 10 per tries instead of always increasing, so you can never truly lose in it now
They said it will never happen because it would instantly turn it into an M rated game. I wish it was possible, would love to just play Blackjack or Texas Hold Em in the Saucer.
