Finished every single raid in the game. Ever destroy a giant illusion machine and cause the entire star system you're in to fade into a destroyed wrecked version of yourself? Dark Souls players will understand.
does shitty rpg maker games count? trying to figure out how to get almost furry but not furry characters since the game has multiple animal races in it. from AI of course, since we can't draw for shit.
something akin to this, since there's a bunch of humanoid and demihumanoids in teh game. trying to get leonardo ai to get the prompt right is turning out to be very difficult.
>unironically using AI
how do people look at these awful things and think "yeah that's great I'm an artist people will like this yeah awesome"
reminds me of old folks that can't recognize stupidly obvious photoshop edits
have you seen modern indie games?
undertale? touhou? summertime saga?
or even a lot of AAA games like horizon, the gollum game, halo infinite?
they all look like shit. i'd take AI over them.
don't bother, the seething art trannies will never be able to live down the fact that they wasted thousands of hours of their lives learning a completely worthless "skill"
I added everything I wanted to add!
Except it's absolutely unusable in that state, can't even create a save because data are all over the place, so I'm redoing it.
Weird question. You know how MGS has animal rankings depending on how well you've done? I want to create my own ranking system, but not sure what names I should use.
Originally I thought of maybe something like historical cities, smallest to biggest, but that seems kind of lame now. Maybe something to do with chemicals/elements?
Not him, but I like it a lot. Not using it as I'm already using a seperate framework, but I really like many if the subtle but numerous changes they've made.
I learned how to make my own custom roms of OOTs source code so I can learn some the effects better. Some of the shader effects in that game are kind of wild actually.
You should try to find old photos of dark places lit up with camera flashes. It never really creates a circle like the unity spotlight. You're much better off giving it a very wide box shape or even just a point light than blows the frick out of everything (in first person people wont see the back of the pointlight anyways so who cares).
IIRC saw for the ps3 had a very good lighting system, and one of the options was a camera flash, which copied the effect in one of the films:
Its long as frick, and the grant was with the straya government. Basically even with his dad who is a lawyer, and paying another lawyer, it was a complete shit show and he backed out of it. The government also threatened to pursue legal action if he made a video talking about it. Australia is considered "low" on the corruption scale for countries by the way.
>Accepting money and losing creative/executive control over your own game
No. Especially now that you can make a game for dirt cheap with 20 dollar royalty assets if you really want.

I got funding, it was not a nightmare. I think you just need a good product and passion.
I won't be exact, plus it's not an exact amount but it's greater than 30k. Which is enough to pay for the rest of the concept art and some companion models.
kickstarter or what?
Nope, just me going out, joining communities, and finding the right people.
So??
I want to know so I can find another option, I don't like the idea of a publisher or a kickstarter.

I think he's probably talking about getting furries and other assorted degenerates to fund his development by making friends with them on discord. Presumably he's also a furry or whatever, which is why he's being coy about it.

That would make for the furrydev, furries have a lot of money for some reason and they spend like 50% of their salary on furry shit.
But that game looks like a normal one

so I don't think that would make sense, but maybe he got a patreon or something.

I'm not a furry and the game is not an adult game or something weird. I'm not being coy about it, it's private investors. The game happens to be based around female companions which is a big reason 1 of the investors is in. My game is a bit spicy but nothing beyond a mature rating, I mean conan, gta has wieners and shit.

Which communities did you join to find people willing to invest in indie devs like that?
That's a difficult question, what's your game?

Yeah, applied for some of the Australian government ones, there was a few questions about what race we were and if we had disabilities.
We didn't get it, they seem to be more set up for disadvantaged people or already established studios, if you're a couple of guys just wanting to make a game they don't give a frick about you.
Did once. They didn't give it to me because they thought my concept was "impossible to achieve" before giving the grant to some Atari 2600 tier game instead. Was so pissed off I proceeded to make a barebones version of that project within the week purely to spite them and show, yes you abso-fricking-lutely can do what I offered. Never bothered with them again.
the plush crowdfunding campaign finished successfully last monday and plushies will enter production, very cool
working on level editor for probably the last content update before i move on to something else
>Did you do the intro animation for the game yourself?
nope, the intro animator is credited before the intro plays and in credits >Also the steam revenue calculator estimates about 50k made so far, is that close-ish?
i've seen the calculator, some numbers seem fairly similar, others less so
i generally don't talk financials though
I'm seriously considering hiring a fricking pajeet from fiverr to animate me a few things
Why is it so hard to make a simple pixel art running animation on a fricking stickman...
Still in the learning phase
But in light of AI and ChatGPT, I, without a shred of doubt, am sure I'll finish my game in the coming years.
Let's fricking GO
Idc if people consider it "AI made" or "AI assisted"
As an aspiring solo gamedev, I'm not trying to prove anything.
I just have a dream game, a vision.
If the game functions, and people know about it, I'll be happy.
not unless you're a massive autist who is interested in building your own engine for fun
an engine is just a means to an end, the end being making a fun game
>reinventing the wheel
Unless you can design and build a better wheel you are wasting your time, and if you could why the frick would you bother making games?
Made a randomly generated mesh for the terrain on a tower defense idea I've come up with. The random dark splotch on the right represents a random spot where the enemy's base/zone will eventually spawn. Next up is a bit more perlin noise to make the map more interesting, followed by populating with the resources you'll use (trees, rocks, etc).
Again I tried to learn about Unreal Engine and all I could find were more tutorials about textures, shapes etc. but not a single good one that actually shows to create some gameplay
I made a little teaser thing for twitter etc to put up tomorrow when I finally update the public demo version. It's a poster with animated elements off on the side, I thought it was nifty.
Probably sometime around there. Me and the programmer did much of the first draft of gameplay stuff over the course of roughly a year before I returned to doing comics and whatnot to pay the bills.
I've finished the final boss music for the sequel to a game I haven't even come up with a name for.
I'm too old to make game
how old are you?
7
Too old.
9
There are only two rules
1) It's never too late to start
2) The earlier you start, the better
The two rules directly contradict each other.
No, they don't.
No
what year were you born?
Finished every single raid in the game. Ever destroy a giant illusion machine and cause the entire star system you're in to fade into a destroyed wrecked version of yourself? Dark Souls players will understand.
Also trying to unfrick resolution options.
Okay got it working
I've just finished another "social link".
>Finished every single raid in the game.
Nice! When do you think you are going to finish the game?

have you seen modern indie games?
undertale? touhou? summertime saga?
or even a lot of AAA games like horizon, the gollum game, halo infinite?
they all look like shit. i'd take AI over them.
Good thing you don't make games
grats on being an artlet with shit taste then
instead of shitting up the thread, shouldn't you be reading your loomis book? don't worry, just another 2000 hours to go until you make passable art.
unlike you who will never be able to make anything passable game or artwise lmao fricking wreckt
>instead of shitting up the thread
Says the ai troon lmao. You morons have no self awareness.
AI will not replace people, people who use AI will replace people who don't.
don't bother, the seething art trannies will never be able to live down the fact that they wasted thousands of hours of their lives learning a completely worthless "skill"

Originally I thought of maybe something like historical cities, smallest to biggest, but that seems kind of lame now. Maybe something to do with chemicals/elements?
what are you trying to rank? whats the context?
It's ranking performance. Time completed, alerts, enemy kills; that sort of thing
Just doing some interactive level features, even if some are reserved for later levels because they're part of different worlds.
How is Godot 4? Since I'm already deep into my project with Godot 3.5, I'm afraid to make the switch.
Not him, but I like it a lot. Not using it as I'm already using a seperate framework, but I really like many if the subtle but numerous changes they've made.
I never used 3, so I don't have a frame of reference, but I like it. Only ran into one bug so far which had an easy workaround.
Quick question has been any emulators that was made using assembly language for speed benefits?
I’m nearly ready to post the Coming Soon page on Steam for the RPG I’ve been working on the last few years
I’m really excited to show it to you guys
How much does custom shader/texture frickery impact performance if you don't really know what you're doing?
I learned how to make my own custom roms of OOTs source code so I can learn some the effects better. Some of the shader effects in that game are kind of wild actually.
Nope, frick you. Back to aggydaggy you go.
>Verification not required
cringe
Correct, only pajeet marketers are allowed on this board not real threads
Not much, been busy.
How do I make good art
Wish i could tell you, i'm faking it and trying to make it.
How do I do that?
My way might not be the best for you, but the one part that might help you is to look at sprite sheets and sprite animations.
Working on some puppet section inside an old love tunnel ride.

Thanks anon i'll look into it, i used the basic unity thingy maybe i'll switch it
I just learned how to cook a bloomin onion at home.
Aren't those just fancy onion rings?

ok gimme a minute
>unreal 4
update ur sh8
I would but I'm waiting for UE's metahuman animator to have android support
Not getting an iPhone
>I'm waiting for UE's metahuman animator
will it ever happen? i feel like every app like this are only available for ios
should I learn unreal or unity
not looking for a career out of it, just to make games for myself
Give the two a whirl, check guides out and see what fits you best. You might even end up using Godot instead
Has anyone here ever applied for a game grant or funding?
No, and after watching that one guys youtube video about how much of a nightmare it is I never would.
Name of video?
Its long as frick, and the grant was with the straya government. Basically even with his dad who is a lawyer, and paying another lawyer, it was a complete shit show and he backed out of it. Damn. Thanks for the link

nah and asking for money from anyone is never a good idea from what I understand, unless you're okay with said people controlling your IP

I played a lot of Vagante and Devil Spire, I liked them.
ok
I'm seriously considering hiring a fricking pajeet from fiverr to animate me a few things
Why is it so hard to make a simple pixel art running animation on a fricking stickman...
A basic run cycle isn't that hard.
then why can't I fricking do it
Have you studied basic animation principles like squash and stretch?
I hired a dude from some eastern European country, turned out to be a super cool guy and will prolly go through him again.
damn bro, this is the exact type of game I would like to make, it looks amazing
I hope you make it
thanks bro. you can find more about it in my twitter, GhostHandDev
Still in the learning phase

What could be better than the most recognized and profitable medium of entertainment?
You don't have a voice in your head that tells you what to do and what choices to make?
What kind of game are you planning on making?

Want to make anything else? Use Godot

Ah, I see
Test the engines and see what works for you.
How do I make a game like this in c++?
Quite easily.
Finally completed a massive move. Transferred to top down which fits the gameplay better
I still haven't progressed much because I dread having to draw tilesets and scenery
This is using Godot Engine
You could always photobash using images you find online and Krita.
THERE IS NO LIMIT TO MY POWER
Again I tried to learn about Unreal Engine and all I could find were more tutorials about textures, shapes etc. but not a single good one that actually shows to create some gameplay
its a dead project
Yeah, sounds like a UE "community" alright
I made something in 3D for once
I made a little teaser thing for twitter etc to put up tomorrow when I finally update the public demo version. It's a poster with animated elements off on the side, I thought it was nifty.
Adults Only uncensored version:
Very nice anon.
I'm seeing your game around since like 2019, but when did you started it?
Probably sometime around there. Me and the programmer did much of the first draft of gameplay stuff over the course of roughly a year before I returned to doing comics and whatnot to pay the bills.
wtf, you're making straight stuff now? What a sellout
>local autist baffled at someone drawing non-gay shit

kill me
Been working on stage art
Damn, nice art.
