What could be cool setpieces like Glimwood Tangle or that cliffside with the diglet ruins are undercut by lasting 8 seconds and having few unique Pokemon.
The climate inconsistencies are hilarious, going from desert to glowing mushroom forest, or the literal hallway going from bitter cold snow to sunshine.

Nah, Kalos has only good stuff earlygame, but speeds up after 3rd gym even turns your walkthrough a straight line from that point onwards.
Paldea is a bit odd, I dislike the far western part of i, but I find it good everything else. Altho the best place to explore is without doubt the crater at the center (it's literally Made in Abyss vibes the deeper you go).
I feel like with every passing game the idea that Sun/Moon was made by the exact same guy who went on to make SwSh and SV is so alien to me.

That place is actually a deathtrap for whoever richgay want to live there in the long term as, due to Oriente being built over a previus toxic waste dumpsite, the tap water gives you (and your children) throat and tongue cancer overtime.

Kalos stands out the most. Aesthetically, the landmarks and building design all matches the France setting and everything still feels…colorful? Unlike Paldea where everything is muddy and washed out even if the performance wasn’t bad.
Most areas have some puzzle or gimmicks to define them, like the reflections mirror cave or the lost woods in Snowbelle City. Route design is closer to how the games used to be made.
None of the towns after Gen 6 had as much detail as Lumiose City did the first time, and now it’s getting a spinoff game at a realistic scale with Legends gameplay.
Mega Stones were the best gimmick, and is also coming back after all the others flopped. The Stones replacing hold items were a good way to limit a Pokémon’s usage, and it gave you a reason to explore the map since they were like hidden artifacts.
Honestly, Kalos > Alola >>> Galar > Paldea. Art direction, map design, performance, battle gimmicks… I think they’ve gotten weaker, especially with Z coming soon.
